Ranger damage can’t keep up with Warrior, they’re just on a completely different playing field. I wish it weren’t so, but I have no evidence to it being even remotely possible.
Unlike most encounters in dungeons, it could be possible to BM cof1 and have the pet alive long enough to actually contribute. The problem lies with pets being very selfish. Not only do Warriors do immense damage, they spend that whole time cross-buffing each other during the fight. Contrary to popular belief, GS Warriors are not burst damage, it’s sustained. Pet damage is burst purely due to how npcs attack.
Also, in your time warp scenario, you’d have to step out of the time warp or your pet won’t take the quickness benefit. Buffs, including quickness from TW, target party members before npcs.
All classes are capable of running all current dungeon content provided they’re competent.
That said, I believe it goes to show the effectiveness of that party next to the cof1 farming standard. 13 min run from the door being blown up, to my guild’s 5 min from that same point. Even if we assume those rangers weren’t ideally built, I find it hard to believe it could break under 10 min. So best case scenario, half as effective time-wise? Seems about right from my experience.
Nope. Siege attacks can only be blocked/destroyed, not reflected. Swirling Winds, Shield of the Avenger, skills of that nature.

Good luck farming the rest of your needed mats in a game that puts to rest any idea of “farming”.
You only need a single boulder to endless knockdown the immobile mobs in AC story, you just have to be on your game with picking up and throwing. 2 boulders makes it substantially safer. I’ve unlocked explorable mode on all of my alts 30+ with those boulders.

Since projectiles were changed to 20% chance, Duelist isn’t as much of a clear choice over Swordsman as it would’ve been. I find pistol flows with scepter more so you don’t have to step out to summon your Duelist in a less risky location.
Ranger greatsword auto attack chain does less damage by a significant amount than Warrior’s, at a slightly slower attack rate (I would accept lessened damage because of the built in evade, but it’s been rolled back a bit too far). Between my Ranger and my Warrior, both built to as much perceivable personal damage as I can, the Warrior is twice as strong, hit for hit, without counting in Hundred Blades.
The auto attack chain does less damage than Guardian greatsword chain as well, although not as ginormous a gap as between Ranger and Warrior. Guardian’s chain (again, built for damage as best as possible) is about 1.5x as strong, perhaps a smidge more for nearly the same attack rate. Guardian greatsword damage is more what I’d perceive Ranger’s should be.
Even a Mesmer’s greatsword (which is a ranged weapon, benefiting from further distance like ranger long bow) does more damage from auto attack, at higher rate of fire (unless the Mesmer was standing point blank, in which case you should be picking a different Mesmer weapon).
Yet another reason, why especially after the group level changes, that fractal progression should be account wide. Ah well, one can dream.
On a side note, when I see a ranger in my party, I usually quit and look for another one. Chances are, that player is a girl or just a terribad wanting a WoW hunter experience with no basic knowledge of his class. Ranger in your party in PvE? Save your time and leave.
Weird, I would’ve guessed Elementalist and Mesmer for profs most likely to appeal to girls. Or Asura anything.
As a Ranger, I have to admit, there are a ton of, shall we say subpar players on an already lackluster prof. I myself get a flash of doubt if a Ranger joins a group that isn’t from within the guild.

DR is a terrible idea whose point was to lessen the gap between casual and hardcore players. It, in fact, has only made that problem worse. The less you get out of your play time, the more valuable every bit of play time you do have becomes. DR does nothing to deter botting or exploiting, it just makes it more difficult for average players to obtain what the bots can get ahold of.

I’m fairly certain they could do some terrible things to the precursors and vanity exotics though. The sort of things that need discussed with an anatomically void doll.
I have less issues meleeing on my asura than any other race. Their melee range is the same size as every other race, but relative to their size and weapon size it appears ginormous to me. I always overestimate how close I actually have to be to connect (which is really never a bad thing). I have never come into any ‘miss’ issues, that wouldn’t have happened were I another race..
Yeah, the playerbase complained that they had to do fractals to get ascended gear. Therefore, Anet remedied the problem with the opposite problem. Real great response there. It really makes no sense that rings were added to the laurel vendors without amulets being added to the fractal vendor.
If you finish the maw after the reset time, it will count for “that day’s” daily. So yes.
Say you already did your 20 daily for the 3rd, and start the run an hour before reset, as long as the maw dies after the reset, you will complete your 20 daily for the 4th and get your bonus chest.
Rangers should use GS and/or Sword/x on the burrows. You can switch back afterward. Sword/x does more damage, GS is safer.

Thieves have the best access to blind in the game(followed shortly by guardians). A good corner pull with a thief’s constant blind makes groups of mobs melt with ease. More black powder and more smoke screen please thieves.

If you want the achievement and rewards for the monthly, you may have to do things that aren’t your favorite, period. That’s how achievements work in every game that has them.
So yes, if you want the monthly, you find 4 other people and get it done in ~2 hours, or you figure out how to solo something at a slower pace over the course of the month that the achievement is active.
I have fun skipping. Running past inquest technicians requires more thought than fighting them. Why should I have to enjoy the game your way?

No one ever said AC explorable is level 35 content. Regardless of the level you’re scaled to, explorable dungeon paths are part of end game content. They’re balanced around players being sufficiently experienced and geared.
Sword/Focus, Staff shatter spec in full berserker’s works as well.
If there isn’t something better other than “developers said” to use as a valid argument, skipping enemies remains an exploit, just like “wp-rezzing” is one.

^ My warrior has much better drop luck than my other characters. Not really sure why, but there hasn’t been a day where I haven’t gotten at least 1 rare armor piece from AC. My Mesmer (first char) has never once seen a rare from AC.

Trying to encourage Mesmers to use torch is enough of a nerf for this patch along with the stealth changes to trident. Anet didn’t feel they needed to publicly state a new nerf after those.
But this is not including pet? Don’t forget pet’s do just as much damage as the Ranger, some do more damage than the ranger, like felines and drakes.
Pet’s damage is negligible. My build is similar to the OP’s (30/30/10/0/0), meaning my pets have none of the buffs to damage that would make them hit more than a wet noodle. Had my pet been alive and attacking during that Rapid Fire, the total damage may have been closer to 20k. The pet does not double the damage in this type of build.
Pets, especially in fractal boss fights, are dead far more than they are alive, making building for pet damage wasted trait points (thank the lack of pet dodge and AR for that one).
Absolute highest I was able to pull off in that particular fractal was a Rapid Fire for 176k damage, meaning a 17k Rapid Fire. I know Warriors who can, and do, Killshot for more than that. Hundred Blades can regularly hit for over 30k on a mob with decent vulnerability, which if pulled off on that boss would be over 300k damage.
So yeah, at least for the duration of HB vs RF, he most likely was doing double your damage output.
So this could either be a simple tool-tip bug or a very serious game-play mechanic altering bug that is gimping our LB. Has Anet ever spoken about this?

Actually about 15% of the population finds making money very fun, irrelevant of the uses of that money.

Guys, at 990g even the unluckiest of the unluckiest will have a precursor in the mystic forge.
It amazes me how many people don’t realize this. For 950 gold at current prices you can make 2500 rare greatswords. If you throw all of those into the forge you will get back somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 exotic greatswords that you can sell on the TP to offset the cost. If you lowball the value of those exotic greatswords at just over 2g, then you’ll make 400g back — that’s the minimum return. This would put the overall cost at 550g.
And if you put 2500 rare greatswords into the forge, you’d have to be insanely unlucky to not get a precursor. I got mine after 1100 rares, a friend of mine got his after 500, and I’ve heard other people quote numbers in the range of 1600.

I want a shortbow, and only 2 professions can even use a shortbow. My precursor was 750g as of last night. Compared to the number of professions that can use greatsword and the price of Dusk (or especially Dawn) it’s absurd. I guess I’ll whittle away my gold into the mystic toilet with my fingers crossed.
I always get full runs without rares from chests, that includes cores/lodestones as rares. My luck is always terrible. My guess is you just had one of my normal days.
I did feel like my Maw chests had a lower number of items than before, but shrugged it off with my general bad loot luck. I usually got 5-6 blues and greens from that chest before patch at worst (on top of possible cores/lodestones). Both of my dailys yesterday (26 and 30) gave only 3 items.
The waypointing update actually helped fractals…
If your party is out of combat, you can revive at checkpoint. As opposed to making everyone wipe to get the group back together. I can actually maintain bloodlust stacks now.
It’s already been stated that it is intended. As is selling spots for completion provided players weren’t kicked from the original group to free those spots. It’s a little underhanded maybe to use that for dungeon master title, but it’s perfectly valid.
I run my Ranger as my fractal character, and it can be annoying. My poor siamoth 2 nights ago was targeted 6 times in a row at one point. It is however, a blessing depending how you use it. My party was then able to kill off the Jade Colossi without worry.
On phase 3, if you want to speed things up, then yeah stay out of combat. Stow your pet and grab a crystal. Throwing that won’t put you in combat and your pet can’t be targeted then.
Alpha with less HP you say? Time to re-add CoE to the rotation.
Honestly, I can’t take that kind of change anymore. It feels like ArenaNet is throwing casual gaming in the trash. Dungeons were already hard for casual gamers, now it’s nearly impossible to complete them without being epic players. Now we’re a lot of people who enter dungeons, get killed and wait….wait….and wait again for everybody to die. Then we have to start all over again and the pain restarts…
Especially considering it takes -forever- to resurrect someone. Either you fail the boss or you success, there is no in-between.
Ran Arah last night, had a party member die during Lupicus (took 3 bubbles in a row). Resed him from dead and finished the fight. We run glass cannons for our explorable runs. It’s a helluva lot easier to rez when you know you /can/.
Again, explorable dungeon paths are part of Anet’s intended “end game content”. If you want to do them, put in the time to learn them. There was a time when even CoF was a challenge.
This stuff is currently patched and in game. I tested it last night on my necro and ranger, and the lupicus grubs did not spawn on either my pet or the minions.

-Also changes were made to Alpha and his attacks.
-Jade Maw was left alone. There is some good play that happens, but the argument is 50/50. At least with other cases there was a definite need for change. I will continue to investigate/debate Jade Maw adjustments.
As of last night, Lupicus still summoned grubs on fire elementals and Ranger pets in our group. I didn’t risk leaving any Mesmer clones alive long enough to test those.
Obviously porous bones are uncommon. I get them from every wooden chest. I should start saving them for when they become the new form of base currency.
Good game me. Now my precursor, The Lover, is the 2nd most expensive behind only Dusk. Every single time I get within 3/4ths of the current sell price, it jacks up another 200g. I give. /whiteflag

Every char creation that I’ve looked at Asura since launch, one ear has been larger and lower than the other. Imo, it’d be weird if they were perfectly symmetrical.
I love how people know exactly what was intended by the content creators, of every mechanic of every encounter.
Chill out guys, they just sometimes forget necros even exist sometimes so they forgot to put the fix in the patch, should be fixed next time (not)
