Saladtha (Lv 80 salad sidekick to bears) | Dunelle (Lv 80 eviscerating muppet)
Karmell (Lv 80 human might dispenser) | Vast says hi~.
The event does seem to be bugged. When my guild ran path 2 AC, we had one of the traps fill itself to 100%, but would not trigger. We juggled between the other 2 to finish the fight before they bugged.
^ Classic case of favorable luck being used as the answer to all ones’ problems.
I’ve gotten more skins and rings from 26 dailies than 30 or 40. Therefore, you should obviously run 26 for better chances cause it worked for me.
Rise of? Since shortly after launch, it’s always been the majority of runners were lvl 80, even if not yet fully geared…
Mesmers, you guys need to learn how to use feedback and signet of inspiration…
Tired of repeating myself every time I join a group :P
And sword/focus if we’re on the topics of Mesmers.
And here’s our personal record of 2:20 minutes.
World record?
I must show my guild. Maybe they’ll listen to me to melee?
I would just love to have a team which can’t get it done. Perhaps it is bugged but I can’t reproduce.
It is bugged, but not always. We weren’t able to narrow down /why/ it bugged, but between a problem free fight and a bugged one there were significant differences in Simin’s behavior (multiple dead eyed stare debuffs on a single player, stealthing at 25% hp regardless of time).
I feel your pain, I have Operative’s Creed recipe.
So jealous of my 2 guildmates who found that recipe. Each made a couple hundred gold off those.
That’s what my warrior is. Our guild does dungeons everyday, might as well bring the most efficient available. I still enjoy my Mesmer, Ranger, and Engineer, their places are just elsewhere in the facets of the game.
You get kicked/denied for being a Mesmer? What universe is this in?
I never said I was kicked for being a Mesmer. I usually run with my guild anyhow, and we have a member who only has a Mesmer. So if he’s running, I bring my Warrior. I enjoy my Mesmer much more in SPvP and WvW than in PvE anyhow (except for Lupicus anyway, /only/ my Mesmer gets to fight him).
Fractals
2 Guardians
2 Warriors
1 MesmerDungeons
1 Guardian
3 Warriors
1 Mesmer
If only my guild would run these of their characters. We have enough alts, all of us, that these comps should be possible 100% of the time. Just for whatever reason, we don’t.
(And by we, I include myself in that point.)
Elitists are everywhere, yeah if I was a Elementalist/Necro/Engi I can I suppose understand why
A good elementalist in a well experianced party increases the overall damage output about 4 times as much as a warrior.
Perhaps I got you wrong but are you saying that if you have experienced party of 4 people adding one Elementalist equals adding 4 Warriors?
If the encounters in question are the various burrows in AC, then yes.
Otherwise, I just can’t see it.
Why? Because phantasms don’t benefit from +crit dmg%,
Since when?
I too would like to know. Never had a 6k crit iSwordsman until my mesmer switched over from Rampagers’s gear to Berserker’s.
That’s what my warrior is. Our guild does dungeons everyday, might as well bring the most efficient available. I still enjoy my Mesmer, Ranger, and Engineer, their places are just elsewhere in the facets of the game.
Nope, not a DPS check, not that much anyway.
I aggree that Rangers are banned atm from this fight since they can’t remove their pet and the spark aggro still goes to pet. It should lock only one players, but they still haven’t fixed that.
Regarding the 4/1, nope, still works.
If she goes invulnerable 5 seconds after you run sparks, it means you took too long to run sparks.
Good sparks herder can do it in 5~10 seconds which leaves ~50 seconds of DPS on the boss.
Now, P1 is fixed invisibility when she reaches 50% life. To get past the P1 phase, you either need really good sparks runner or use the 4/1 trick.
In P2, the invisibility is on a TIMER. The timer starts when she becomes invisible, not when she becomes visible again. Thus, the faster you run sparks:
- the lesser she regenerates
- the more time to dps you have.
In 10 seconds she regenerates about 15/20% of her life. Also, your tears launcher need to be good at its job. A good one can: dps and still have nobody petrified. Which is again a better DPS globally for everybody. If your it, look at the debuff on the group UI, don’t use simple. If you wait for someone to call petrification, then you are late on your job
And in the end, please don’t nerf it. It ain’t a DPS check. It is a skill check. However, correct the spark aggro so that necros and rangers can dps to their utmost in this fight. Haven’t seen problems with clones atm but our mesmers depops them.
Regards,
No, in phase 2 you do not have about 1 minute between sparks. When my group did this she would stealth every time at 25%. We started by doing the 4-1 method, burn her down to about 10%, she would heal to 30%, then go invisible 5 seconds later at 25%. We would run sparks again, she held to about 35 to 40%, get her to 25%, then she stealths again. Eventually, a spark would bug and not go in its empty spot, she would heal to over 50%, and then we were back to phase 1 where she would always stealth at 50%. We start over again doing the 4-1 method, repeat the previous process over and over for about 2 hours before we quit.
I wonder if some people are aware of this bug in her abilities, or if they’re just fortunate enough to not get hit by it. Regardless of spark running, especially with the 4-1 trick, if she stealths again every time at 25%, your encounter is bugged. No amount of perfect spark running or dps will allow that barrier to be crossed. It happened to my guild run 2 days ago.
Also, during that same encounter, one of our warriors was repeatedly targeted by the dead eyed stare. Now, that’s pretty normal. Except for the part where he was perma petrified. During the course of us bashing our faces against this boss, there had been times where he had 2 separate dead eyed stare debuffs, on top of the actual petrified debuff.
If these 2 scenarios are happening to you, best abandon ship and try later. We repeated the path again yesterday, didn’t have her immediately stealthing at 25%, nor did we have a perma-petrified party member. Completed the encounter in one go through.
RNG = RANDOM number generation. Capitalised the important word here that I think people forget about…
Except that no “RANDOM number generation” in any programmed game is entirely random.
I find it mildly funny when people try to push the lifesteal into making something viable. I’m just waiting for those foods to be adjusted and ruin every single situation in which they’re necessary.
Do people not realize that they are the only consumable, chance on crit effects in the game that do not have an internal cooldown?
I wanna be able to crit for 15k with my guardian. kitten you ANet, when are you going to fix this!!!
You can. You’ll be practically useless to the party, and you’ll be even more squishy than a glass thief, but you can.
Share the build. I’d like to see that.

Courtesy of my guild leader. You’d need to get the build from him, my guardian is still in leveling.
When I run my Ranger (my fractals alt) I stick nothing but full zerk, 30/30/10/0/0 build. Piercing arrows and bow cooldown never leave my bar, nor does my shortbow. Lightning Reflexes and Quickening Zephyr always stay as well, since traited for Survival skills cooldown. Last utility depends on situation. Lately I’ve been swapping between Muddy Terrain and Flame Trap encounter depending.
In speed clearing I assume you will corner pull/group enemies at all possible. Muddy Terrain does a great job at keeping them there to eat the damage if the targets have a tendency to wander, while Flame Trap is a pulsing damage fire field on a ridiculously short cooldown (untraited, wouldn’t waste the slot for 1 trap).
Offhand weapon depends on the boss, but more often I choose GS over Sword/X. Sword/X is far more damage, no doubt, but GS has substantially higher survivability. I’ll only use Sword/X when I know there’s minimal risk to me and I want a melee damage boost.
Pets are fine at Jungle Stalker and Red Moa. Ranger doesn’t have access to much more party support than that and Healing Spring. Everyone can use more Fury, even in Warrior heavy comps.
I feel significantly weaker on my Ranger than my Warrior for obvious reasons, but you make due with what you have.
i want to be able to do the “support” part as promised at the beginning !
all classes should be able to be support, as all can go glass cannons !
we want our fair share, but NO one is listening
and the thief vs guard is just an example.I wanna be able to crit for 15k with my guardian. kitten you ANet, when are you going to fix this!!!
You can. You’ll be practically useless to the party, and you’ll be even more squishy than a glass thief, but you can.
I would like a Lupicus practice arena. Saves me trouble of drudging my way to him to try out new things. There’s a few other encounters where, while posing no real difficulty, I feel my guild groups could be quite a bit more effective.
Which is why pve meta is berzerkers max dps
CoF1 does not PvE meta make.
The “meta” still heavily favors max available dps to any other utility spec. CoF p1 or Arah p4, doesn’t matter.
Seeing that, I have to ask: Why are you so surprised that it’s a gear-check?
It isn’t so much that it’s a surprise, as an unexpected lowball.
Groups were competent enough to survive the increased “danger” in fractals over 40 and had found workarounds for the maw agony. After a significant portion of time as this being acceptable, with no statement to the contrary by the company, Anet suddenly just shut off everyone from that former option. With the justification after the fact that it was never intended to progress beyond that newly formed invisible wall.
Funny how the opinion of Agony started out as, “No, we don’t want gear checks, get rid of it.”
Moved to, “It’s not a gear check, if you’re good, you can live regardless. L2P.”
And has arrived back at “No, we don’t want gear checks, get rid of it.”
Dungeons are group play, but there are standout solo moments in them.
There shouldn’t be any solo moments in a coordinated group. The amount of times where your group’s outcome is determined by 1 member’s ability to fight on their own is extremely low (and becomes more beneficial to wipe/abandon combat and get everyone back in the encounter). More often it becomes 1 player vs X mobs which certain professions themselves handle naturally better than others.
I have yet to run into an issue with warbanner not being up in any speed run group: 4war/mes, 2war/2thief/mes, 3war/2mes. I’ve been in groups fast enough that the token reward was dropped to 2 for completion, and still cooldowns were up when needed.
You warbanner the first and final boss. The benefits of signet of rage are too selfish in a group like this, and aren’t necessary out of those 2 encounters.
During normal rotation no, but they will spawn grubs on the last one during phase change. Whatever is closest to him during the change will get a grub.
I enjoy Bjarl. An interesting and entertaining mechanic to what would otherwise be an extremely dull boss. His hp may be a smidge high when compared next to the rest of the dungeon now, but at least he isn’t an HotW boss.
Berrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg!
I was trolling, everyone I know thinks that it’s a joke because I used 10g/hr as a LOWBALL xD and everyone is still freaking out. I do have a Tri with 1 gold utility, getting my 2nd one soon.
Also thanks for the Mesmer info I am embarrassed to say I know nothing about them other then they push the mobs and cheat at frogger.
Shame, I was hoping there was a method I was missing. I still consider your 10g/hr a generous estimate. I would say more the lines of 7-8. More if you’re lucky.
I too am curious as to how you have gold infusions already.
It’s possible for someone to have one at least,if they had the triforge already as that has a utility slot on it!
Aye, but that would be infusion (singular). Poster said he had infusionS on his ringS. Either it was a misstatement or there is some knowledge we’re missing.
Assuming you always get rares/exotics/cores/lodestones is like assuming you buy 250 unidentified dyes you make 26g per dye you identify. Possible statistically speaking, but not in practicality.
I too am curious as to how you have gold infusions already.
Yeah, I was curious as to the money. I was only able to hit the 10g/hr mark after figuring in a couple well valued exotics (which I see once in a blue moon). That may be a bit generous, even for organized groups that can hit the 7 min start to finish mark.
Feminine =/= Skimpy. I’d like the designs to be different yet still not overly revealing.
Open markets + 24/7 game time (not counting maintenance or other downtime) + millions of players = lots of movement on the Trading Post. I’m sure there are other people in the game who wanted The Lover, and perhaps can afford to list Buy Offers. I know for a fact, because I bought one.
As did I. After being miserably trolled taking the profit I made from dungeons and dumping them down the mystic toilet, I went the CoF1 route. Made ~150g farming on top of what I had in available items in about a week and a half.
The entire time I was watching the buy orders to get a goal in mind. There were always 5 bids on The Lover within 1c of each other at the time. My guess, 5 players all competing for the same prec. When one listing would jump up, so would the other 4, all by 1s or less (usually 1c). I followed their lead, got mine 2 days from my initial bid.
I don’t doubt gold selling sites buying precursors, but I have a slightly harder time believing them placing buy offers. If I were trying to earn real cash by selling the means to a legendary, why not sell the precursor directly for cash? I’ve seen similar trends in quite a few other games, and overall would prolly earn them more direct cash than selling it for gold and selling the gold for cash.
It’s not any more subpar than the other options Ranger has (pve), let’s put it that way.
Thieves have that shortbow thing which shadow step/teleport whatever it is – them anywhere… doesnt matter what the terrain is and so on. Blink USED to be that way – but like every other mesmer skill it’s been “adjusted”
Infiltrator’s Arrow works in the same way and in the same situations as Blink. There has to be an uninterrupted path to where you wish to Blink to for it work (a path that doesn’t require jumping over an obstacle). There are a few bugged spots that can be learned which violate the pathing rule, but those work for Blink the same as thief shortbow.
“Selfish glass cannon warrior” will 2 shot those assassins. Why would someone spec anything but?
Yet You fail where others not. Any conclusions ?
Only conclusion I have is you’re arguing for the sake of arguing. This change is even more in favor of pure glass than how the defense was before. Most professions specced for damage can cleave through the throngs of trash in one go through of the auto attack chain. There’s no reason to spec survivability if everything dies literally before it touches you.
On the other hand, survivability comes at the cost of damage. Less damage means the cc mobs (particularly the knockdown “Blademasters”) will have more opportunities to interrupt your attacks. If you’re cc-ed, you aren’t attacking the assassins. If you aren’t attacking the assassins, they’re sticking daggers in very indecent places on Magg.
Please don’t let Magg become just another victim. Spec for damage today.
If You all run “selfish glass cannon builds” with no support* than sorry but You will fail.
what I meant was If You are not skilled enought yes to play without anyone be support You will fail.
“Selfish glass cannon warrior” will 2 shot those assassins. Why would someone spec anything but?

The Ranger in my opinion is fine in PvE, based off feedback from Rangers who PvE.
True but a large chunk of pve population thinks otherwise.
Raises hand on behalf of the population who thinks otherwise.
I have to be able to solo the abomination on my Mesmer before Arah will let me go at Lupi. Abomination is rather unforgiving in glass light armor. =|
Arah spear, ’nuff said.
See: Costume Brawl
The riding broom has no skills.
I realize that, but based on a trend from other implementation by Anet, the easiest way would be take the Halloween broom and remove the costume brawl ability. The riding, animations and times being the same.
CoF and really hard in the same statement without not? You never cease to amaze forums.
Might has a cap of 25. That’s really easy to get from party buffs without any GS traits.
Not with pugs it isn’t.
It’s a safer bet to count on might from your own skills and traits than party members. Aside from Warriors and Elementalists, there’s very few ways to gain more than a stack of might from another player.
I prefer axe/something myself, but I don’t notice a terrible difference between axe/x or greatsword. So I slot both.

Siamoth.
The majority of even the Ranger population (let alone non-Rangers) has no idea what it does.
As for the OP, most groups don’t know how to handle Simin. When Simin goes invisible, you can still attack the spot he is in. Have melee stand where he disappeared and just attack. You, as an Engineer, should be throwing down Poison Grenades where he was. This will help keep his health from regenerating so quickly. There should be a couple of party members waiting near the spark spawn points to run them over instantly.
And I hate to break it to you, but you’re running off very old data. That no longer applies as Simin is invulnerable the moment she stealths. Conditions will be instantly cleansed, and she can’t be damaged at all until she reappears.
Ranger has stealth. 2 different sources in fact.
<Insert ‘notthisshetagain.jpg’ here>
Curious how long it’d take a group to stone the ghosts to death. I’ve never tried it myself.
It’s actually faster than ignoring the boulders and attempting to straight dps. The boulders themselves do fairly good damage for the downscaling, and render the enemy helpless.
“Unlike most encounters in dungeons, it could be possible to BM cof1 and have the pet alive long enough to actually contribute”
1.)my pets stay alive the entire dungeon. even the jaguars. pet swapping+signet of the hunt and general npc awareness means no down time. also, my pet is not all burst, it also has sustained.
2.) unless it’s fotm, any dungeon i go into my pet stays alive the entire time also, in fotm my pets will die, but right after i will swap and generally that pet will stay alive long enough to where if it dies not long after it is swapped out.
3.) warriors do get their shouts such as FGJ and such, the best i have gotten from 4 warriors is 18 stacks of might. with 1 guardian i can get i believe 15stacks. with Call of the wild i give the party 15+seconds of fury which for quick P1 cof runs is just under the time needed for the first boss(slave driver for me on a quick group is ~30seconds)
1: Pets are burst, period. Their skills like any npc’s hit, then pause, then move to the next hit in cycle. Add onto the target being able to move, then the pet has to reposition, attack, pause, and possibly reposition before the follow up.
2: I was stating pets could be kept alive through dungeons, especially CoF1. If you are building for pet, you should never let it die. If you feel it may die, don’t focus on the pet.
3: Rangers are terribad at party support. Spirits should be more beneficial than banners because they can die, and they just aren’t. A Ranger’s best utility comes from snares, which applies no direct benefit to party damage, since players attack while moving (barring certain skills). The lack of boon sharing with the rest of the party hurts damage, which Warrior comps need not worry about. 4 Warriors during this particular path will have 20 might and perma fury during the 2 important fights simply from war banners.
