Has anyone considered the fact that it might not be a new zone at all?
It might just be a “slight extension” to Brisban, kind of like what we saw with Cragstead and Nolan Hatchery implementations.
I don’t want it to be that, and I pray it’s a new tasty zone to sink my teeth into, but I’ve been drawn into ANet hype one too many times to really believe it’ll definitely be a whole new zone.
- again, does it have to be a direct line?
they could make more then one zone, it doesn’t have to be one zone per season you know
Since you bring that up, and until the information about the SW corner of Brisban came to light, I rather thought that a nice thing for ArenaNet to do would be to have a slow increment of Level 25 – 80 zones snaking their way around the Maguuma Wastes, to whatever the end goal might be in Magus Falls, to serve as an alternative world route to level up through.
I feel that idea might have been more suited to an Expansion, however, rather than Living Story.

experience gain?
It’s quite interesting that you pick up on Experience Gain. You listed questions you’re always being asked. One I am always asked is “what’s the fastest way to level up?”. One week later, by the same person, I’ll be asked the same thing, then again after another week, and again, and again. Each time that player might have only increased 2 levels, or not at all. I’ve never considered GW2 to be a game that you need to rush to L80 for as conventional leveling through maps, story, and dynamic events is much more enjoyable than any other MMO I’ve played. As such, I’ve never cared what the fastest way to level up is – I’ve done whatever I enjoyed
On the subject of combo fields, can I propose that the clue is in the name? Is it just me that, during the betas, applied common sense here? Are so many players really lacking this? Combo implies you put something with it to make something happen. Once you, as a player, find out that a combo finisher exists – that’s all the clues you need right there to figure out the very basics, is it not? I know there’s an added complexity when you realise there are blasts, projectiles, whirls, etc, but people asking what a combo field is rather astounds me, even if they’ve only just picked up the game.
YouTube might also have a lot to answer for in all this. Need a build? No problem, there’s no need to think it through, just YouTube it and find someone who’s done the work for you. There’s no problem with this as such, if that player was to learn why it works. Too many, however, pick up a build, and assume they’ll be superawesomepro because they’ve seen someone else play it on YouTube.

But for Liadri you cannot make a mistake, it has to be perfect and that is the issue.
More or less, though sometimes it’s not down to you. My only problem with the Liadri fight are the orbs. 70% of my fails tend to be due to an orb spawning and pulling me just as her one-shot blackness descends. (the remaining 30% tend to be lack of dodges after she starts spamming her cripple!) So you do need to be perfect, but there’s still some luck involved when it comes to Orb spawn.

Generally around 4:30-5:00 PM UK time the lag starts and gets more and more unplayable until the next morning when it disappears.
Gonna +1 here just like I did in the other thread.
Same skill delay, lag, 3 or more minutes to load into a map. Always starts around 4:30PM UK time and the game plays perfectly during the daytime.
Really, really frustrating.
Giving a +1 to this problem. In the evenings in the UK (4:30PM onwards) the game is unplayable for me, and loading into a map can take 3 or more minutes, when it works.
When I can connect it’s taking 20-30 seconds just to be able to use a skill.

Yeah, when I saw that, I decided to keep them. Not risking it.
When I saw it I made another ascended back piece \o/
Far more of a win than a few greens.
You can still use your fortune scraps at least. You didn’t go back to that other thread did you?
I stand corrected on those, then.
So that’s one item ticked off the list…
(edited by Sarie.1630)
Interestingly I made a thread in the same vein:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/fotfw/Trophies-mismanaged/first#post4047431I feel the management of these items atm is very poor.
Hadn’t noticed your thread before, I agree with much of it.
ArenaNet have a track record of implementing merchants for, or reusing long-since redundant items. Whilst some of my list, such as the Vorpp’s Field Assistant stuff could be safely discarded, that part of me who knows ArenaNet still stops me from doing so until it’s been confirmed, in writing, that these items are no longer needed.
Until then, I shall wait, just in case 6 years down the line…
Patch Notes:- 6th June 2020
All old kite fortunes have been converted into new kite fortunes at a 5:1 ratio and can now be used at a merchant in Labrynthine Cliffs
Power Cores can now be used in the Mystic Forge to create a personal thumper. Personal thumpers can be used to spawn a great jungle wurm to fight alongside you for 15 mins.
All Scarlet’s old lockbox fragments can be thrown into the mystic forge for a 50% chance at receiving a precurser
Oh, and remember those Emissary Vorpp items from way back when? Trade in all four for a full set of Legendary Armour. Good job, hoarders.
Trade in complete bags of Scarlet’s Spare Keys for tickets to Cantha.

Dear ArenaNet.
Would one of you fine Devs please confirm if the following items are of absolutely no use, now or in the future. No merchant will appear to trade something super cool for them and that I am free to delete them with no downside now or later on in the game?
Oscillating Diaphragm
Translocator Beacon
Focusing Crystal
Positional Relay Beacon
Kite Fortunes
Scarlet’s Lockbox Code Fragments
Molten Code Fragments
Aetherblade Code Fragments
Watchwork Code Fragments
Toxic Code Fragments
Power Core
Power Core Components
Scarlet’s Spare Keys Bags
Wiki links provided for your convenience.
Feeling I can safely delete all this rubbish from my inventory would be a great benefit but I’d really like to see something in writing from ArenaNet confirming that these items will never be required now, or in the future.
Thanks!

Why? Everything you can buy with them, can be bartered for wit hthe new festival tokens…
To be fair, a lot of us kept them.
I’d have hoped there would be some kind of mini dump for them like there was for Blade Shards. Not only that, but all old Living Story junk some of us kept including (but not limited to) Scarlet’s ciphers, power cores and power core fragments.
i have 332 fortune scraps and one golden fortune scrap, can i use them somewhere?
Black Lion weapon guys take those.
Not any more.
When I saw a merchant would be coming I immediately thought of the Zephyrites. Perhaps one of those is interested in trading stuff for Blade Shards.
I’d like to see them again soon, and have a hunch that’s who the merchant might be.
Guild Wars 2: Wrath of the Fish King
- Major underwater revamp including new underwater traits, utilities and weapons, including the ability to set underwater traits differently to on-land and have them automatically switch in the same way your Utilities do.
- New Region: Cantha
- New game type: 12 v 12 alliance-style battles from GW1. Sort of like “mini WvW.” (larger maps than current sPvP maps, more capture points.)
- Bubbles has been terrorising the shores of Cantha. They finally throw off their xenophobic ways and begin permitting entry of esteemed Priory/Vigil/Whispers members who have proven their worth killing Zhaitan, and other Elder Dragons. The player travels to Cantha to beat back the horrific FISH MONSTERS pulling themselves up onto Cantha’s beaches and eventually face off against Bubbles himself in a grand underwater setting.
So yes, I think little hits, more often, is a very reasonable way of beginning to make support more useful.
Support more useful? Support is already extremely strong, you just have to know how to build your character.
And there was me thinking all you needed in this game was 5, max width, Norn warriors spamming Skill 2!
Monsters should hit weaker and more often, that’s one simple and useful adjustment. You won’t be able to dodge it all – tough/vit/healing suddenly become needed in the team.
I have to quote this just ‘cause I think there’s some good truth to it.
The harder bosses for me in the game are those who spam one ability, a lot. For instance. SE path… 3? The first champion you meet, the Dredge, who spams stacks of bleed on you. I can’t remove it all, all the time, and that makes the encounter a lot harder for me than the final boss in that dungeon.
Similarly, those Risen mobs in the open world who channel a lifedrain ability. I’ll be at the Temple of Lyssa and wonder why my hit points are slowly draining, non stop. I’ll notice one of those kittens is channeling it’s skill for 20+ seconds. If you can’t interrupt it (which I often can, to be fair) it’s a real nuisance to continually avoid other than running miles away from.
So yes, I think little hits, more often, is a very reasonable way of beginning to make support more useful.
You don’t even get one for each map anymore, I’ve been getting keys for the last six I cleared instead of charges.
Poor you! XD
I’m sitting pretty on about 250 transmutation charges. 9 World Completions and a compulsion to hoard everything “just in case ArenaNet finds a use for it” really paid off this time.
Unless you’re one of these people who wants to change their look every day, transmutation charges shouldn’t be a problem. If you really want a lot though, have you considered making an alt and 100%-ing each city zone? you can then delete and remake.
You know, ever since release I’ve thought similar.
If my Mesmer picks up a rock I can typically throw it. If my Elementalist picks up a rock I get another option to call down a meteor. I loved this idea and it seems like it’s the only object in the world that it happens to.
Adding special ways for professions to interact with environmental objects would be utterly fantastic.
If you imagine those ranger pets that dig up environmental weapons, it could be a way to throw a new dimension on that. Say a Ranger uses his pig to dig up a stick, a Mesmer picks up that stick and uses the unique Mesmer ability to summon a Phantasmal Oakheart. Maybe a Warrior spots a rock nearby and uses the unique Warrior ability to roll the rock at high speed through a line of foes and knock them down (a little like Mace #5).
Increasing the damage is only a small part of what could be done to make environmental weapons more engaging, useful and fun to play with.
Fix the problem, not the symptoms.
QFT
Scaling is the issue, not the areas themselves.
This. Scale down L80 downscaled player damage more. I’ve often thought this. If nothing else, I imagine it annoys lowbies doing low level DEs when a L80 is around one-shotting stuff all the time.
Place an NPC at the portal into and out of each zone you can speak to.
> I wish to play on a Hard Mode version of this map.
Load in.
Armadillo hits you for 50,678 damage with HashtagYolo
Armadillo finished you with Troll Finisher
Similarly, a switch to turn on Hard Mode dungeons would also work.
For what will no doubt only result in a damage hike, is it really worth it?
I don’t like them, but I’m not actively opposed to them. I don’t mind them existing.
Given all I really want from BLCs are the Weapon Tickets however, I do feel the scrap drop rate is a little on the mean side.
I just deleted all my cipher parts…
/sharpintakeofbreath
Could be a killer move, my friend!
Never mind Blade Shards, Cipher Parts (although not many as I used most), Kiel Representation Buttons, I still have all those random quest items such as the crystals from the Emissary Vorpp achievements.
For the avoidance of all doubt, I have a niggling query.
Those PvP armour items that your alts are wearing in PvP when the patch hits: Will they disappear entirely, or will they be automatically included within the Wardrobe?
We all know the PvP locker will be transferred to the Wardrobe in some fashion, but to be on the safe side, should I un-equip all PvP armour skins and place them in the locker if I want those skins to be unlocked after the patch goes live?
even finding open CoF+CoE maps might be a pain in the kitten
Is it a bad thing if people have to do the event to open it? Bearly anyone does the event any more, and even though you can guest onto a server where it is open currently noone ever wants to so lazily types “opener needed” into LFG.
When I complete my Ascalonian Killer dailys I often push Razen the Raider up to the end of his escort chain and allow him to die so it’s easier for someone to open later on. It would be refreshing to see other people actually wanting to do events again in order to gain access to dungeons and the like.
I have my reservations about the new Megaserver system but I reckon it’ll bring in more positives than negatives; if it encourages players to complete events they would ordinarily ignore out of lazyness, then I’m ok with that.
Pyre, Algae, deep glacial sky all say hi.
Ever since the introduction of super rare dyes I see a lot more people moving away from abyss or celestial as their primary color. It’s a nice thing.
That’s true actually, I had forgotten about the Gemstore dyes. I can’t say I’ve seen the same as you though. Abyss and Celestial still seem to be the dyes of choice. They’re also still the same in-game rarity as Abyss and Celestial.
I wondered if they would see substantially more use if the current favourites were downgraded.
This means practically nothing when you are trying to locate a specific color out of many hundreds
You underestimate the MMO community
rare = good, that’s most of them run around in full abyss
How did this even happen? Did MMO developers around the world just realise one day that Black was a highly desirable colour and decide to make it the rarest? Always seems to be across every game I’ve played.
If GW2 suddenly made all grey hues common, and made some new obscure yellow and green dyes super rare would everyone run it for rarity reason, or stick to black because it still looks cool?
You really expect to see SAB in the middle of WvW Tournament? C’mon people… It would be completely counterproductive for their big tournament if they were to release SAB right now. Especially considering the fact that SAB always stay around for four weeks.
Wasn’t the last SAB out at the same time as the WvW tournament?
I might be wrong, I’m sure someone will correct me if I am, but regardless of the above; Not everyone wants to spend time in WvW, the tournament for which is lasting until the end of May. Do you think there will be no content patches until after then? :p
I really doubt that we’re getting it. IT would be announced if we were. I am waiting for SAB to come back too though.
There have been so many threads about today’s potential patch I would have expected a post from a dev somewhere stating that there definitely would not be one, if there wasn’t going to be. It’s a bit cruel to keep the community hoping whilst keeping quiet. ANet always seemed like they were pretty good at keeping stuff quiet when they have to so I think this evening it still very much in the “wait and see” phase.
I’m not really sure what to expect, but I wouldn’t be ruling anything out just yet.
It’s unrealistic to hope that everyone on the forum will use a subject that is discernible from the thread list without having to read the first post.
Perhaps moving Ascended armour to another alt should (or will) automatically reset it’s skin.
Transferable Ascended gear is, after all, a massive convenience for the player as it is.
(edited by Sarie.1630)
A FAQ thread on Reddit states that deleted skins will not be replaced or added to the wardrobe. This is the case for gemstore items but I imagine it will also be the case for unique Living Story skins too.

Mine are deleted on re-log too. My Party chat is also removed when I leave a party. I see people sometimes claiming this is “fixed” already but… if it is… not for me.
I’d also really love to see the chat stick in the window. A few times I could have used the names there to report players for kicking in the Bonus Fractal so that they could invite a Guildie, but as it stands, unless I remember to print-screen the IDs of PuGs, if I’m kicked and don’t remember names, I can’t find out.
Does “Reducing Opportunities for Griefing” cover “unable to kick players out during the bonus Fractal in order to invite a Guildie”?
Hah, I guess I forgot to mention I only wanted the option to go earn all my traits. They definitely would have had angry players beating down the door if the just took them away. Either way, based on this very unscientific sample, I guess I can see why they didn’t bother to add the option.
You can always pretend you’re unlocking them and go around the various content you need to complete to unlock them!
I’m wondering if one unlock will be completing Obsidian Sanctum jumping puzzle. They said in the livestream that some traits would be unlocked by WvW. Prepare your butts! We all know how much they love making players jump through OS.
Why so much bad press? You can still go out into the world and earn the skins you want, but alternatively you can craft a piece of armour and use the Wardrobe to reskin that item if any alt on your account has already unlocked that skin. You’re still only going to be using transmutation charges when you want to.
I think a lot of people assumed because it was a wardrobe you’d be able to change your look every few seconds with no downside. Isn’t it the case that most people will choose a skin set and leave their gear on what they like for quite some time? I sure wont be changing many of my armour skins straight away after the patch, but for future use it’s a fantastic feature to have in-game.
From all of the images it looks like changing Dyes will total 0 Transmutation Charges every time, you just still need to click Apply to set the changes.
I do believe you are correct, sir. I hope it’s the case for all dyes. I’d hate to see the current system change.
The video implies that dying armour will also cost transmutation charges. Potentially controversial. Can anyone confirm?
Originally I had one build and one gearset for each. These days I have several, and I have my favourites (Guardian and Mesmer) but generally rotate through the others depending on what I feel like playing. Having one of each profession at 80 gives some nice freedom.
All of Salad race is getting the blame in the eyes of some people too
That would be interesting if they explored it in-game. Suddenly Humans, Charr, Norn and Asura turn on Sylvari because, after all, in 25 years one went bad so perhaps the rest will follow. You could see new voice acting between NPCs discussing how shifty a Sylvari looked as it wandered past, new text dialogue for the player explaining how NPCs no longer trust this relatively new race.
Sadly though I think developer created fictional racism would be a step too far for many people. It would be a natural progression of events though, perhaps. Sylvari are new, and one went bad. How long until the rest do; they wont, because of player characters, but that’s fairly by-the-by.
Yes. Its normal to feel offended
It’s normal to, yes. Do you know what else? It’s actually alright to feel offended, it means you have feelings. I’m an easily offended person but like to think that these days I’m mature enough to deal with it appropriately. Just because something offends you doesn’t mean that 1) it offends everyone and; 2) the offender is at fault. The mark of what kind of person you are is in how you deal with your offense and move past it.
But! This time they made My hero into lowlife. He joked about stomping scarlet. Its just disgusting…
I’d love to make a load of real world comparisons here but ArenaNet would almost certainly delete my post. Hopefully my point is made regardless.
If you are so disgusted by what happened, perhaps this game is not for you. ArenaNet occasionally has a bit of a dark side to a storyline going on. It’s quite rare and mainly consigned to GW1, but these NPCs making the comments are doing so behind in-game “closed doors”. Have you never said anything derogatory about things/people you don’t like when you think no-one other than friends can hear you?
I can’t believe how unfriendly this game is to the casual player in concern to endgame content. I never really thought about it until I realized that with 40 gold there really wasn’t anything I could do anyways with it.
I really, really disagree.
Casual players often have difficulty getting up to the stat level of less casual players. This need not be the case in GW2. Exotics are perfectly acceptable for every activity outside of Fractals. With that in mind, you can earn stats through Karma, Dungeon Tokens, L400 crafting, drops, buying outright from the trading post, and World vs World. That’s a lot of options and maybe more I’ve missed.
The point is… you can easily earn stats to be competitive or desirable in PvE. If you need (read: cannot possibly live without) the more expensive or rare skins in the game and cannot play enough to obtain these items then maybe the game is not for you. If you’re willing to accept that casual players may be locked out of achieving certain skins on a cost or time basis then you’ll be fine.
This game needs those more valuable items in order to try to keep players invested and give them something to play for.
My advice is compromise a bit on what you want. work harder for it, or give up on the game. I suggest compromising. The game is fantastic if you can live without those expensive aesthetics. This game is pretty fair on Casuals from a stats point of view but I still think that MMOs need that little bit of RNG loot to keep people trying the content. Sucks a bit when that content ends I suppose.
Whilst there is one profession which deals more damage with one solid build than any other in the game, all other professions will be deemed of lesser value.
GW has always been and probably will always be like that. Warriors only tolerate having one Guardian in the group sometimes as a safety net, let’s face it… I also can’t believe for a second that Ferocity will change this other than slowing down speedruns slightly.
It’s also very true that when most Rangers are played very badly, (one arrow every second off a longbow with a bear at your side, usually nothing in the way of support and still those players drop in seconds should they take any damage), it’s very easy to assume all are like that. As a profession though, they’re fine for running around completing content. “Fine”.
Can anyone please explain why there is an imaginary line in the Black Citadel where on “the wrong side” I receive 6 FPS and on “the right side” my game runs normally?
I created a short video to demonstrate this phenomenon. Apologies for the brightness but I think it gets the point across:
http://youtu.be/zbUjj1aQIz0
This imaginary line moves also. There have been times when this area of Black Citadel has run fine for me, and another sector has had the FPS drops. I really don’t get it. Anyone any ideas? Black Citadel has suffered these problems for me since launch!
Slight theorycraft.
Given we have the Captain’s Airship passes now, would it be a reasonable assumption that Lion’s Arch is going to become more like the one we saw in one of the pre-release trailers with a mass of airships overhead? Seems like the direction LA should take is in the construction of new Airship docks as well as traditional harbours to allow for more varied travel options in and out of the city.
This leads me to something I’ve always wanted to see; as well as having the convenient Asura Gates it would be rather nice if we could ride an airship to specific locations, and able to see recognisable landscape and landmarks pass underneath as we fly like a sort of pseudo-cinematic.
or are you going to turn off Spvp and WvW for two weeks?
do sPvP and WvW players care about PvE? I didn’t think they did., at least so they keep telling us! :p
personally not looking forward to waves of invisible enemies with aoe control effects and terrible lag/constant disconnects again, but hey at least it will rain precursors like candy for those able to do the event.
We should hope that lessons learned from previous Living Story patches will be clearly visible. It’s not worth worrying about until the patch hits. I hope it’s been well planned and implemented by now.
(edited by Sarie.1630)
Just turn the dam servers off and on -.-
Probably best to make sure they’re actually plugged in to start with.
It’s all well and good saying “we’re working on it…”, but that really says nothing. Is it worth me waiting up for a few hours or will it take you guys all night? More to the point, I could ask why these kind of problems still happen but that’s just going to make me sound like a broken record.
Won’t giving the world an exact ETA of when the map will be back just invite the same thing to happen all over again?
It will, which is why I’d like to have seen either:
“Wont be long now guys.”
or
“This one’s gonna be an all-nighter.”
Suitably vague, but lets you know whether it’s worth just giving up and going to bed.
I thought I read somewhere that they would count for map completion. Can’t give any reference though as I don’t remember exactly where I heard/saw it.
It has always, always bugged me that Southsun doesn’t count. They’re not frightened of removing people’s 100% completions when they alter an existing map, why wont they do so for a whole new one?
They whine because if you’re just trying to PvE and if you’re forced into an open-world PvP zone, and you’re being killed over and over, it’s not fun. I know this from experience trying to level for the first time in Aion. Once you have some experience and gear it gets better but…Guild Wars 2 does love it’s zergs and mini-groups who are more than happy to try to chase you across the whole map. Whilst I don’t mind that the LS will be in WvW I’m not too put off by it but I can certainly understand the concerns of those who are. We are of course yet to see how it’s going to be implemented, and if it will be campable/griefable.
I also recall reading somewhere that the server matchings in EotM will change more often so I suppose if you’re against two strong servers there then it wont be too long before you rematch to a potentially more balanced server matching?
I have an idea, however, which may combat the “I don’t want to be player-killed” PvE croud to a certain extent. Have a setting to say you’re neutral in Edge of the Mists. Your “<Server Name> Invader” tag turns yellow instead of red. That way you can still be attacked by WvW-ers who want to kill everyone in sight, but any who are happy to let PvE-ers go about their business unharmed can tell at a glance. Goes without saying that as soon as a “neutral” player attacks another player, whether directly or just in AoE then their name would colour back to Red for a minimum amount of time (15 mins?). This seems fair. It gives WvW-ers who don’t want to grief the option to ignore those players who clearly don’t want to fight, but it wont stop campers and WvW-ers who just want to kill everything they see.
If you only ever building and repairing Barricades you are really doing something wrong.
It would most likely require you to stand around doing nothing at times and clearly not helping with the most crucial part of the event (the chain parts).
I guess his point is, as there are limited hammers, someone should keep one in hand for the entire fight.
Honestly though, you can let some barricades fall if there are enough people to slaughter the watchworks, so just drop your hammer and get some hits in :p
