Have you tried it since they redid it? AC I mean.

I’m a bit lost on updates at the moment; a little out of date. I remember before I took my partial break there was an update to AC everyone was up-in-arms about that made it more difficult but I’m not sure if anything has happened since then.

Nevertheless, I maintain it needed it. A friend of mine kept telling me how it was impossible now. I tried it, with a PuG, and the biggest difficulty we faced was the stupid Ghost Eater bugging, yet again, on his new-style fight. I saw changes to the other bosses and such but it didn’t feel like it made a lot of difference. It’s certainly not as hard as it was on release, even after that update – but that’s not necessarily a bad thing because the first dungeon experience shouldn’t scare off newbies too much! That is, when they can get a group for it amongst the “L80 only” spammers.

No cursing, no name-calling, just working towards your common goal (which is finishing the dungeon).

From what I’ve experienced from playing through CoF so much (Other dungeons too, but not so much) – when you get a Warrior in your group there tends to be a mix of name calling, cursing or barking orders. Why? I guess they’re used to the way they do it in their efficiently built groups? Maybe they are just wannabe zerkers trying to push the group as fast as it will go because they lack the gear to enter the “real groups”, yet are just as impatient? The point is, it’s unpleasant. Just as Warriors want to minimise the risk of spending 20 seconds more on a run than they have to by scrutinising gear, some of us want to minimise our risk of facepalming/group anguish by denying such players access.

Want to run SE Path 1…warriors need not apply!

I’ve already been doing this. Well, a few months ago, a few friends and I. Since I’ve just started playing the game properly for the first time in a couple of months now the pain from a torrent of molten freaking stupidity that comes hand-in-hand with many Warrior players has dissipated a bit.

They didn’t appreciate it, honestly – but hey, if they want to “check gear on apply” when people join their CoF groups then I want to “check profession on apply” when people join mine. We don’t want you Warriors, there are plenty of other groups for you.

Eh, this subject gets me riled. This isn’t to say all Warriors are imbeciles.

Just most.

Does it matter? Not like this game has any structure to dungeons.

That is such a shame, because it really really should.

Well before release I was lead to believe Dungeons would be epic adventures with minor events, cool loot, dangerous foes. Ascalonian Catacombs in Beta showed promise, then after release it got nerfed, and transpired it was actually one of the harder dungeons (at the time)…they just got easier and substantially less epic.

Stealth and why it reduces depth and skill

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sarie.1630

If you are going to make this thread then you need to tell us what you would replace our main defence with, the other being evades.

Otherwise the whole thing becomes just another baseless complaint with no substance.

From what I gathered from that recent State of the Game video ArenaNet seem to be looking into ways to give Thief more comfort when it comes to remaining within the combat area without perhaps relying solely on stealth. I’d love to see this develop into something worthwhile but I can’t see Thieves ever leaving Stealth unused.

Of course Thieves will defend stealth. Stealth is why the majority play Thief I’d wager, reasons being those given in the OP. I don’t think Stealth has been done as badly as it could have been in GW2. As someone pointed out, at least it’s not able to be kept up permanently (legitimately).

In the aforementioned video, changes to invulnerability skills were also mentioned. To me, Stealth is a form of invulnerability. Yes, AoEs can hit you IF your opponent gets lucky, but having the ability to not be targeted and not even be seen is pretty close to invulnerability in my book, more-so when you combine it with teleports for even quicker escapes. As such, it seems to be used by thieves as often as possible – and why not? Forcing your enemy to look around for you, reselect you, try to predict your movements when in stealth is a ridiculous advantage.

On top of my concerns about Stealth is the problem of hacking. Numerous times I’ve heard reports, and witnessed other players appearing for a split second in between hits before re-stealthing. Apparently there is a way to bypass the Revealed debuff? I’m not sure (perhaps it is fixed now) – this is not within my comfort zone, but if true, just the fact that this mechanic is in the game gives too much temptation for people to use it in order to cheat. Saddening.

Now for a question that arises from this discussion. If it were made easier for Thieves to stay alive in combat without having to rely on stealthing as often as cooldowns allow, would you still utilise your stealths at every opportunity, or let them take a back seat? I see no reason why a Thief would sacrifice them for what will always be a riskier, and crucially more labour intensive strategy.

When the storyline for Flame and Frost ends, the Flame and Frost content will go away.

Why?

No, seriously, why?

Why remove content some/many enjoy and many haven’t completed, especially forced-group content that some people will have trouble getting done in limited time?

Why?

Because it’s called “Living World”, not “Static World”. Once a story ends, it’s gone, the story is ended.

Whilst I can see it’s a shame that the content will go, I remember some people commenting, before the game’s release even, that Dynamic Events should change the world permanently, and not just cycle back around. That’s just never going to be feasible on such a large scale from what I can see, however, what we see here seems to be trying to fulfill that desire in a small way. Of course it’s going to annoy those players who disagreed in the first place, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time, can you.

Those of us who want ALL THE ‘CHIEVES don’t have that luxury :p

You know, those of us who see an achievement track and … must… MUST…COMPLETE…

Ahem, anyway, it does seem like a nuisance, and from what I can tell the lootable Sonic thingys are available once a day, and that’s account based? I could be wrong on that but I stood by a point for a long time waiting for another lootable one and I never got one. When revisiting with an alt I also couldn’t loot one. This leads me to believe it’s once per account per day. I ran around finding as many points as I could, mentally stored them, and will go back over the next week and gather daily. Should max out that achievement in a week or so I’d guess. It’s not too much trouble. Just thinking of it like another daily.

I hope it’s something better than it was untill now.

Because thoose events are something…. limited. For me Living Story till now was going to that X map, doing a event, and it’s done. And I must say, it was very repetitive.

But Living Story is a good idea… But why not add enough content for all the month? Since there isn’t going to be content for all the month coming after the update, players need more things, variety of things, if ANet really want it to be memorable.

ArenaNet love their teases. Assuming the Living Story concludes at the end of April, my guess would be that something much larger is coming, than has come with the previous three months. Over all this time we are being led to believe that something is coming, now we are told it’s a Dredge-Flame legion alliance. March’s update will be another teaser for sure. It’s all designed to make you aware of something that’s going to happen – it is sufficient to keep up interest and maybe remind players to keep checking back in, even if they are off playing other games.

Right now this “Living” Story is dead, it is so incredibly boring and poorly implemented.

January: You go to the location talk to one or two people and then there is nothing to do for a month.

February: Go to the location kill a few people, get bored in 30minutes, nothing to do for the rest of the month.

March: Two new characters introduced, let me guess what is going to happen… we go to a location talk to this new person, possibly one new event that we will be bored off in 10minutes, nothing to do for the rest of the month.

You sort of miss the whole point too. See above.

Yea, I’d agree that March’s update probably wont bring an awful lot. BUT…whether you agree with the content of ArenaNet’s updates or not, they invariably deliver more than you’d think…which leads me to believe that April (assuming April is the conclusion) should be pretty interesting.

Mesmer Downed State

I want an aoe that is powerful enough to one shot people, from full health to dead…

Actually, it would just be nice if our downed offensive skill #1 wasn’t almost entirely dependent on confusion for the damage. Thieves have that nasty crippling attack that, in comparison, seems to hit like a freaking truck – and hits multiple foes? Maybe some other downed abilities are more powerful than maybe they should be, and Mesmer is actually fine, but looking at others it feels slightly unfair.

Lol, don’t you get like… bombs or something? bombs are cool…. yeah.

Yeah our number 3 booby trap is awesome, the only draw back is we never get to use it because our number1-2 are the worse in the game.

I’m sure I’ve seen Engineers trolling people with those #2 and #3 skills, long enough to give an ally time to revive them. They don’t seem all that bad, can certainly be very annoying to finish them without invulnerability/stability/quickness available.

I have to admit the stealth change was pretty lame. Stealth is a core class mechanic and the ability to drop aggro was one of the perks. Now it’s just…..meh….

Doesn’t make me inclined to play my thief alt more that’s for sure.

That truly is a pathetic reason to no longer play an alt.

EFFIT you want clones go scepter sword! 4/5 skills have clone generation potential! But I love the GS I love the staff… you will not get me to admit to a bad Mesmer weapon… Its all preference and what you wanna do… Nuff said.

Actually, only three skills generate a clone, the other generates a phantasm. :p

I like scepter for my confusion build, but like the other guy, do agree it needs a little improvement. I’ve always hated it for clone generation though…that first chain is soooo slow, and for skills #2 on Scepter and #4 on Sword you have to wait to block something. The whole thing seems inelegant.

iZerker damage nerf?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Sarie.1630

Sarie.1630

i feel what we got so far was a " shut up kid, your bothering me" response that it seems didnt merit a real answer.

One of the few things ArenaNet does that really gets under my skin is the lack of communication. It was understandable when they didn’t have their official forums (during GW1), but it’s really rare to see a response on their own forums these days that isn’t “please keep this clean or I’ll lock it”.

I gotta admit this nerf doesn’t bother me a whole lot. It does, however, seem very unfair that they would nerf the damage on this, and not Hundred Blades on the Warrior. Darn, I’d love to see dumb warriors QQing over not being able to speed-run CoF as fast. Eh.. my point is, it seems even stronger in terms of raw damage output than iZerker, yet it’s iZerker that always gets all of the attention when there ARE other things they could be focusing on.

Let's talk: Confusion

in Mesmer

Posted by: Sarie.1630

Sarie.1630

I just want to hear your opinion about confusion and if you’re happy with it overall.

Overall, I am happy. There are possibly only two aspects of confusion-based builds I’d maybe tweak.

1. Fix Phantasmal Mage. Condition Damage AND Duration to scale with the player, preferably
2. Master of Misdirection trait. I would make a PvP-PvE split here. 33% longer confusion duration in PvP, 100% longer in PvE.

PvP:
I really tried to run with a “Confusion Lockdown” build for a while. It just doesn’t work (or I’m just too stupid). The damage output is so low (in combination of the short duration) that even high stacks of confusion don’t do much to the enemy. Not only that, you can still neglect all the damage by cleansing skills/traits.
Confusion isn’t a condition that you can spam, like bleeding. It doesn’t last very long and can’t be stacked in duration, like poison. As I said before, you have to put alot into it to get high stacks on the enemy, much more than most of the other conditions.

I tried direct damage RAWR-greatsword-pew-pew-pew mesmer builds in sPvP and I just don’t get them. I’m sucky at PvP generally, I don’t mind admitting, but that aside, I have found Confusion builds to be far more suited to the way I play. I don’t agree that the damage is low. I’ve seen players saying that Confusion builds are very viable in Tournaments; I have no experience there, but entering Random Arenas as I do, I see so many (suspected) “zerker” glass cannon players exploding themselves on my confusion.

I learnt something though, and I may be wrong, people may wanna shout at me since I’m basically self-taught… that is… don’t think “RAWRRRR 15 STACKS OF CONFUSION NAOOOOO”. Doesn’t work enough to be “good”. Sure, you can stack a lot of confusion, but as you say, it doesn’t last long. I try to maintain 3-5 stacks. It’s enough to keep the pressure nice and high, keeps some confusion in my back pocket for if my opponent uses condition removal, and still does good damage.

On a side-note, confusion does do less damage in sPvP, than PvE, I think? I still don’t consider that damage to be low though, with an amulet such as Carrion.

PvE:
Lulz. Seriously, no. The attack speed is so low for most of the NPCs, it isn’t even worth thinking about relying on confusion damage.

Again, I think this is something people like to say.

There is truth in it, and I’ve played with confusion builds in PvE, and it’s gone well. It just doesn’t work as well, on the whole, as GREATSWORD-PEW-PEW-SEE-ME-DESTROY-THINGS builds.

I reckon for confusion to work in PvE you do need to be high level, with access to … minimum 50 trait points and a Grandmaster trait book. I find that a confusion build in PvE centres around Glamour skills though, and therefore makes you inherently more supportive, with confusion being a “bonus”, for want of a better word. I’ve been into Orr and tested my build solo on L80 mobs and it kills fine. Doesn’t kill too slow and I can pull multiple mobs, but as has always been the case with Guild Wars, whilst there is another build out there that “is faster”, others will always fall by the wayside.

Heck, I don’t even know if my PoV is somehow reasonable, or if I’m overreacting on this. It probably just bothers me how underwhelming confusion is at the moment. It could be so awesome, but for me, it isn’t.

I think it’s under-rated in sPvP.

I think it works in PvE if you’re clever, but it’s not as efficient as pew-pewing with illusion-based / shatter-based DPS builds.

In WvW, however, there is nothing sweeter than piling Feedback, Null Field and Confusing Images on an enemy commander and watching him down himself in 2 seconds flat.

GS is fine for shatter builds. It basically does more damage than alternatives and generates clones faster. It also has the highest synergy with SI, on par with Pistol.

People smoking some strong stuff.

Yea I agree with this. Players like to pick on something that’s popular and talk it down to “sound cool” from time to time. I’ve not heard players crying about greatsword being a bad Mesmer weapon really. It’s at it’s most effective when you’re not the one taking the aggro though… if I were leveling a Mesmer again, I’d ditch the Greatsword at lower levels. At L80, in groups, where you can really let rip from max range it’s just great.

I got excited when I saw a little red marker next to this thread name. Nope, just another threat to lock a thread that doesn’t put Guild Wars 2 in the best light. I guess they let this one slide because it was somewhat better written.

I’d like to echo some of the sentiments of the OP. I couldn’t have been more pro-ANet, really. I Loved GW1, and loved this game, on release. If anyone asked me 3 months ago “should I buy Guild Wars 2?”, I’d have said “heck yes!”. Now though? Especially with the February update? I dunno. I have a horrible feeling the game is going in the direction of many other MMOs which is simply: it gets worse with every patch.

I do feel like I’ve lost a lot of trust in ArenaNet. I try to remind myself that I’m in it for the beauty of the game. Well, I am…but…to paraphrase one of the new races: “ooo, shinies!”. Yes, the shinies. More shinies being introduced all the time and now finally some really feel out of my reach, or in the case of Ascended earrings, I feel like I’m being heavily penalised for only being able to purchase them through the laurel vendor. I try to tell myself sometimes that I don’t really need them. Exotic is fine. But you know, we all know there will come a time when only “full ascended” people will be wanted in Pick-up Groups, which I have to use often.

Then there’s rumour and speculation about Cantha. My beloved Cantha. If it’s ever confirmed those rumours are true that could be one pretty huge nail-in-the-coffin for me.

All in all, the lack of official responses on their own forum is very irritating. They often lock down threads that don’t put the game in the best light, but never chip in to debates. We all know why they don’t – if they said anything remotely out of line they get ripped to shreds. Most of us care about the game, a lot, even if we differ in opinion. After the introduction of Ascended gear, which many were opposed to, it now feels like unless we shout as loud as we can the staff might look upon that one post buy some kitten saying “uhhhhhh guise I wanna grind for one whole year for a 25% chance to get a special item” and actually implement it, like it’s something we all want.

They are using nerfs to herd us around the game.
They are nerf-herders.

How dare they. How very dare they.

How dare they make you feel like you would be warranted in going somewhere substantially prettier than the hell hole of the cursed shore.

If you played GW1, do you remember The Wilds? …no? What about Maguuma Stade? … no? Amatz Basin? Ice Tooth Cave? …nope? nothing? There’s a good reason for that. There were many places in GW1 that just weren’t visited. So many empty outposts. Creating an incentive for other areas of the game to be seen as good DE/Farming spots can’t be easy, but at least they seem to be trying. This is one aspect of this patch I actually am happy with. I will say this though – I haven’t tried the Orr events since the update but – are you guys really struggling with (what sounds like) a few extra veterans? Goes to show the current real skill level, huh.

Now if they could just tweak zerker warriors rofl-farming of instances I’ll be even happier. I know, right… “in my dreams”.

I’m sorry, I’m past asking about theoretical now since the patch is live and we can get hard data.

My post was a bit tongue in cheek really.

The guild I’m in has probably 100 members, but only 10-15 active at any one time. We’re earning a few thousand influence a day usually. Maybe up to 5k. I’m trying to encourage them to be a bit more efficient though – doing stuff like events together, full guild groups in dungeons, but it’s not easy. When someone wants to do something else it’s not entirely fair to try to force them to make that 4/5 guild group up to a 5/5 guild group just for the bonus influence…is it?

I dunno. A sticky situation we got here.

You do not need a guild of 100 players to do this! A guild of 10-20 can do this without a hitch.

I’m curious, not trying to bash you . . . but have you done it yet yourself? If so then I can at least reassure my guild a bit.

Small guilds can grind cash and buy influence. Bargain basement prices, 50k Unlock is YOURS for only 100 G’s!

Or alternatively you can ignore the “new content”. If ArenaNet realises people just aren’t prepared to jump through those kind of hoops maybe they will adjust future updates. Maybe not though.

Lol. And people thought that Anet would implement this system in a fair and logical way. If Anet has proven anything with updates to this game, it’s that they don’t know how to properly update and balance a game. The fact that so many people, to this day, are surprised by this still astounds me.

If ANet have proven anything with updates to this game, it’s that they usually deliver more than you’re expecting, and despite my continued reservations when new updates are announced, I continually find myself being pleasantly surprised.

The news that you would need Level 5 Art of War was a fair kick in the teeth for many people, including me. For now though, I would assume there is a reason why this is the case, instead of screaming about how ANet are plotting to destroy their own player base.

At the end of the day, you can just farm gold and buy Influence – that only leaves the queuing time. /shrug

If people want it, they will get there in the end, or join larger guilds just for the purpose of trying the new stuff. If ArenaNet is finding that too many players are locked out of content for too long, and it’s a detriment to the game, I suspect changes would be made.

For now, I’m opting not to cry myself to sleep every night until the update comes.

Top Three:

Timberline Falls. I’m a sucker for pretty areas…and this has it, for me, completely.
Straits of Devastation. I love the meta chains in this zone. I love the idea of pushing three lines of attack across the water, joining up, and pushing further.
Harathi Hinterlands. Again, mostly for the brilliant DE across the top of the map. Traveling with the Seraph from camp to camp really feels like you’re pushing the line forward. Also like the appearance of Demetra here, and Saul D’Alessio’s tomb.

Bottom Three:

Brisban Wildlands. Gonna have to echo other sentiments here…there’s nothing there. Doesn’t feel like anything’s happening – just hearts for the sake of hearts. Aurora Glade mission area is nice though.
Fields of Ruin. After reading Ghosts of Ascalon I had a totally different idea of what this zone would be like in my head, and it didn’t live up to it. It doesn’t feel like fighting has been going on there, Ebonhawke doesn’t look impenetrable enough. The Charr could have totally taken that, really. Desert Gate provides some sexy intrigue though.
Blazeridge Steppes. More or less the same reason again… lack of stuff. There’s a bit of an Ogre DE to push, and the Dragon. Mmm, yes, that Dragon. Two minutes and it’s dead. As boss fights go, this one is the most disappointing one in the game, for me.

One zone that didn’t make it into my top three even though I’d have liked it to was Kessex Hills. Why? Garrenhoff. Only Garrenhoff, but that alone wasn’t enough of a reason for me, sadly. I love that town, really love it. The mystery and speculation around it excites me… but the rest of the zone doesn’t quite cut it.

How to fix torch and cond mesmers

The fact that one of our traits does not work with iMage and iWhaler should make it obvious this is a bug. That’s 50% of our default Confusion skills that don’t work with the trait.

It might be a large proportion of the actual skills that directly inflict confusion, but if you’re playing a condition damage confusion build, you go all the way. This means traiting for confusion, which can boost your confusion application by a lot, really, a lot. Goes without saying that how you play is a big part of the amount of confusion you can stack – though that’s true of PvP, I don’t really wanna try to address confusion in PvE in this post.

Try this. Load up with glamour skills, use that trio of traits that make Glamours so much more painful, and lay Feedback and Null field on castle walls in WvW. You will be shocked at how many players don’t realise what’s happening until it’s too late. Seeing Rangers almost down themselves on a combination of Feedback and Confusion, run out of the glamour fields, give themselves another couple of stacks, use a skill and finish themselves off.

“Look at me with mah bow!” pew pew pew pew
“Yea, here’s lookin’ at you, champ.”

Confusion is passive, you have to be clever with it. I would be the first to admit I’m a total nab when it comes to PvP of any kind, but I’m really enjoying using Confusion right now in random arenas, where people cannot run away so easily. I think in WvW it’s mostly confined to small groups as a more of a supportive role since opponents otherwise just run for the hills at 10% HP.

On the subject of fixing torch, allowing illusions to use our condition damage and duration I support. I would also support the way iMage casts it’s confusion being less… flimsy. All it needs is for someone to saunter away and the little flimsy orb misses. You don’t even need to dodge it.

Decent video with the maw trash. You know, looking past the heavy backpeddling and clicking :O

That video actually displayed what utter trash Signet of Inspiration is if you’re not going to use it’s active ability, which I didn’t see once in that video.

Why do people insist on using this skill? One random boon is not a great reason in my book. If his party was build to buff him up so he could share them back, then there might be a case, but that’s not what was happening.

I get the impression in this thread that the OP has changed the original build in line with advice so all I’m gonna say on that is that it’s a standard DPS Mesmer build, the like of which I’ve used since leveling to 80, until recently. The bonuses with the build is you can easily change some of the major traits to turn it into a slightly different build without having to completely refund trait points. Handy to be able to do this mid-dungeon, but it’s nothing new or special.

Same happened to me, I lost at least 150 achievement points.
Many 4999/5000 weapon master, lost pumpking carving (but I have the title)…. but the worst thing is:
my Master of Overkill at 299.999/300.000 !!!! T_T Can’t remember how I did it…

Storymode CoE makes it very easy to obtain when you’re following Mr Sparkles through that radiation-y area with the special gun things. Don’t look at me like that, was ages ago, I don’t really remember it. If there are other places to get it easily though it would be handy to know.

I was in TA just now, without a Scepter equipped, and I just got Scepter Master back.

My team mates also got Ghost Buster while killing spiders.

ArenaNet…..I think Shiro is back.

jade maw fractal is in cantha…

Uhm, if I understand correctly the ‘Jade Maw fractal’ is in the Mists, and is merely an echo of past events.

Please consider this post further support for the release of a Canthan campaign. I adored every part of it. I hope whatever barriers might be in the way they can be overcome.

10G/HR CoF Path 1 Farming [Guide]

Threads like this make me so sad. To think that in the early days, before release, I was lead to believe that explorable mode dungeons might be lengthy, intriguing and satisfyingly tricky. I’ve been pondering making a thread to detail how dungeons could be made harder, and less button mashy, because I think the game really needs to be hauled back in.

There are two things I’d like to respond to here though:

Its funny and yet its true. Ive had friends I ran hundreds of cof runs with, but the moment i take them into coe/arah, they could not do anything but mash their DPS skills eating every single attack regardless of me telling them what to dodge. 10-15 runs later of coe/arah, they are still dying to the same stupid attacks. They’re pretty kitten efficient at running cof in full berserker, but they can’t handle taking that full berserker outside of cof.

Reality is that there are alot of really really really really bad players that use full zerker while the most efficient / fastest players also use full zerker. Baddies trying to be pro’s =/.

I can completely attest to this. Myself, and a group of friends, have a belief that only about 1% of “Zerker Warriors” are actually any good outside of this one dungeon path. In fact one of them has decided to start a blog to document the stupidity that goes on with such players. Time and time again I see ‘Zerker Warriors’ going into other dungeons, running head on at a boss, and flat out downing on impact, and having the audacity to tell everyone else how bad they are because they’re managing not to die

In addition to the above, most of these kind of players are just… not nice. Not the kind of people you would want to talk to either in the real world or in-game. Players obsessed with doing everything as fast as they possibly can and any person daring to slow them down is in for a world of abuse, if not just getting outright kicked. Goes without saying I don’t join these groups for this very reason, but you can’t always tell who you’re inviting for other instances until it’s too late.

If you want this guide to include other classes the petition AN to buff their damage.

In my view, other professions’ damage is nice. I think that Warriors are the main desire for CoF because their damage output is too high, and it’s that that is being abused here. At least Thieves die quicker, so they seem better balanced I guess. I’ve called for Hundred Blades to be nerfed in PvE before, but Anet shut my thread as it’s not a “valid concern”, so I doubt this will ever happen.

I commend you for creating a group build. I think it’s overlooked in this game outside of high-level areas such as Fractals, but a five minute run is too extreme a time bonus for having the right group setup. Explorable mode dungeons should be more of a time investment than five minutes. Five minutes is a daily task, not this.

Seriously now. I know my initial post was jokey, but am I the only player getting sick and tired of seeing “CoF zerker warriors only”? I get that Path 1 is an easy farm, but I’m really getting the impression that ‘Zerker Warriors’, in particular Hundred Blades could use a bit of a nerf in PvE.

With these dailys now, and the monthly, it seems ArenaNet are trying hard to promote the skills necessary to play the game, and have people practice them. If one profession can roll their face on the keyboard and win, it’s still a detriment to this idea.

And no, having an “optional Mesmer on the side to make traps easier” doesn’t count.

I’m seeing “zerker warrior only” groups for other dungeons, and other paths emerging now. Lame times ahead, I predict.

If Blurred Frenzy and Pistol Whip allow you to evade whilst immobile, Hundred Blades should too.

If the recharge of Hundred Blades was reduced ‘Zerker Warriors’ could solo almost every aspect of the game. Oh, and their pet Mesmer for when the traps are too tricky.

I would just like something nice to drop in the first instance. To date I have levelled to 80 and completed map 100% and still not had anything of real value drop for me. I have even spent hours in Orr and the Karka Island and still nothing, (how the hell are you supposed to get legendary pre-cursors)

I must be the most unlucky player around.

It’s long been my musings that some accounts are marked as “unlucky”. Every dungeon run, well, at least 80% of them, I will get zero cores/lodestones and a friend will get 1-2. If I happen to get one, he will always get more.

It’s all superstition of course, but having been playing since release and seeing this happen more or less every day without fail, you gotta wonder…

No, just luck, just be rational and tell yourself it’s luck. Maybe one day our luck will change…. >.>

Super Elixir Issue?

Mmm, I just ran HotW with it, and the skill, both healing and cooldown aspects, were working as intended, perhaps it’s a town thing – then again, my screenshot was from Southsun Cove. I’ll keep an eye on it for now.

Right, been doing some digging and more weird stuff seems to be happening with this skill.

Apparently Super Elixir seems to be unaffected by the Fireforged Trigger trait which is supposed to lover the recharge time of elixir gun skills. All the other skills’ recharges are lowered, but not Super Elixir.

I’ve not played engineer a whole lot, and I’ve just started gearing mine at L80, but before this patch I’m sure Super Elixir, the #5 skill on Elixir Gun used to heal for more than 223? My Regen heal heals for more than that.

Can someone confirm if this is intended?

and so…the personal/social gating rears it’s ugly head.

Why can’t you just take a newbie along and teach them the ropes? Be a good Samaritan.

Sometimes I am that guy that wants a fast run through a dungeon with people who know their stuff. Sometimes I’m tight for time or just plain grumpy.

I actually don’t mind taking people on ‘teaching runs’, though. My alts are generally in a good place, gear wise, I can start spreading the love a bit. My patience drops if newbies are total dum-dums who can’t dodge, defend themselves, or follow basic instructions/advice though. Because of this, you will find that 99% of players will be, for want of a better word, elitest when it comes to who they group with. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this – if you want the pretty things you gotta grind – but it does make some people uber intolerant.

I guess some fractals are quite newbie unfriendly, especially those players who are not just new to Fractals, but new to the game also, and haven’t honed their survival methods as well as others and end up dying on the swamp or beginning of the dredge fractals. Since you don’t know what you’re gonna get, the majority of players don’t wanna have to spend +5 mins per fractal explaining and waiting for the new player to keep up.

As for me…. I’m on fractal L17. I’m bored of it honestly. I got 2 ascended rings out of it, and a back brace, but now I sort of feel like I shouldn’t go with L20+ groups until I’ve managed to get at least 20 agony resist, more out of respect for those groups than anything. I’m sure by the time I’ve got that 20 agony resist the bulk of the population will be on L40s and I’ll be undergeared once again. This is just why I usually can’t be bothered with fractals and WISH THEY’D STOP PUTTING IT IN THE MONTHLY. I just worry that Agony will be needed elsewhere in the game, at some point, and I’ll be too far behind to participate in new content. I don’t know, it’s a strange ‘gamble’…

Daily Dodge + Daily Healer ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sarie.1630

Sarie.1630

The dodge is a piece of cake – if you get text telling you that you evaded – it’s +1.

The heal though, I have no idea. Tried Warrior, healing people with traited shouts – nothing. Guardian, healing with Merficul Intervention, Virtue of Resolve – nothing. Tried Mesmer healing people with traited phantams that apply regen when you’re close – longshot, but nothing. I’m very unclear what is considered the “right kind of heal”.

Dungeons are rediculous now.

How do you expect people to run dungeons now ?

Properly, or not at all?

Everyone complaining sounds just like the players complaining at Beta because AC was “omg impossible”, to paraphrase. You learn, you adapt, you IMPROVE. Why is it wrong for ArenaNet to not want people to stagnate and get lazy?
