The fact that about 90% of top 100 team queue leaderboard are not even in alpha testing says it all, not even Car Crash is in the alpha or any active team that is currently playing so I am not surprised if they take most of these balance changes from wvw players who know nothing about spvp, that’s mostly what’s ruining the balance…

I think they would do a much better job if only the devs decide on these balance changes rather than listen to pve/wvw players who know nothing about spvp since they don’t have any active top spvpers in the alpha…

I just wanted to thank you for the video. While I didn’t learn much about game-play I did learn an important lesson about PvP matches.

And that it’s ok to run away. I always had this mentality that I should win every fight and attack every enemy….but that’s obviously not always true. Fighting an enemy isn’t always the best choice and then running for a different cap can be much better.

I’m also glad to see that it’s not just me who struggles with Necros (on a Thief).

Anyway, you helped me end by SoloQ lose streak with 3 consecutive wins. Let’s see how things continue.

yea when i first started playing the game i always fought till the end but after some time it is really important to realize fast if you can win a fight and if not just move to a different point where you can bring things forward

Nice guides. I personally can’t concentrate on playing the game well enough if I’m commentating. Good job. Overall, I think the playerbase in EU has a lot better knowledge about rotating then the scene on NA does, that’s probably the hardest part for a beginner.

SENSOTIX’S BOUNTIFUL INTERRUPTION
Sensotix, real talk, I had my reservations about this build. It wasn’t that I didn’t think it was good, I knew it was good before even picking it up, but it was because of how you had seemed to contradict yourself with it’s conception. When I had first published Mind Crush (though it was still conceptual at the time) -even though I specifically mentioned that the build would take a few days to really grasp since the style was so different and lockdown builds weren’t really explored- you had tried it for about an hour before detailing it as unviable because of Arcane Thievery not being enough condition removal, lack of Illusionary Persona (you said Decoy mitigated the need for IP, but didn’t have Decoy in this build either), and the fact that it was missing either Portal or Illusion of Life.

Then, lo’ and behold, Sensotix’s Bountiful Interruption build appears! Complete with everything you said wouldn’t work.

So my first reaction was, of course “Wow, this guy … -_-” since the build seemed rather derivative from concepts skcamow and myself were working on. But I didn’t want to go into judging the build with such a jaded mindset because I wanted to be as fair and impartial as possible, so please keep that in mind for what I’m about to write…

This. Build. Rocks.

It rocks so hard dude. It was easy for me to pick up since it was similar to concepts I’ve explored before (boonshare, lockdown) and its trait distribution makes it a powerful phantasm build even without the boonshare/lockdown. But with it? Everything comes together so well that you could easily use this build in PvE or WvW (Great for small groups, terribad for Zergs though) even though it wasn’t made with those venues in mind. It was my favorite build to play of the bunch because I felt like I both did good damage AND was valuable to my team with my lockdown (definitely gained respect for Chaotic Interruption here) and boonshare (With this Warrior Meta, stealing their Elite Signet and giving it to my team is glorious). This build had actually got the highest score from the judges, but was beaten by popular vote. #Dat Democracy.

Only problem? Squishy as hell. Once you get focused, Greatsword doesn’t offer enough defense and untraited Blink isn’t enough of a disengage in many cases.

Bountiful Interruption
This build, although I’m highly biased against interrupt based builds, actually is pretty good. It has the best damage of the 3 builds, and so is the most effective in PvE because of it. In PvP, it does really well with aoe control and boon support for the party, while supplying pretty strong damage. The greatsword knockback combined with chaotic interruption actually provides some interestingly strong utility for decapping points. In WvW, it does quite well in small fights, but any strong solo roaming build will eat it, and it loses effectiveness in zerg fights due to it’s fragility and lack of strong aoe damage at range.

Too many times have I played a match where solo que teams have stomped the team I was on, where I have downed or was beating some one solo on a point only to have their team mate help them get the spike on me. I dont equate those players being good, I do equate those players as being a good team though. My point is if your only justification for being “top” only comprises of a good/great team, what does that mean when their solo? Does that put them in the 90%? and 10%> only with their team?

Back on topic though, as you can see you will have some impressionable fan boys, but majority of people are well aware that their free to think for theirselves.

Not trying to be funny, but the amount of experience you think you have in one aspect of one game does not equate to the amount of experience other players have in multiple aspects of multiple games before you picked up your first controller.

One thing to keep in mind though, in every aspect of everything, is if you need to communicate to a very large group you should word things where it appeals to every one from any culture/religion/political backgroun/etc. Most people prefer numbers and charts, but if you can get by with at least testimonials or examples that may be good enough, because lets face it; GW2 PvP ranking/etc is not easy to disect and put into numbers and categories we are all agreeing on.

i has talked with allie and they invite players across the board who give constructive feedback to chatrounds via ventrilo with other devs. they said that not all ppl even the one “who care” take the invite. so i see no positive voice to the player community via youtube.. would be nice if the person would take the invite.

Some top players are just getting tired of giving feedback and seeing on a next patch it failed for THEM, some are just to ranting on it which is understandable as it takes so long, I actually do understand the devs for implementing stuff and then give everyone time to adjust to it but the thing is top players are almost instantly responding to it while casual players are just taking a longer time to adjust, again there needs to be a SEPERATION on balance, you need those top players to balance out things fast and to see what is wrong, you cant balance for both, that is just not possible because if you try it fails for either TOP players or CASUAL players.

And again leave balance to TOP players, leave all the rest you can have an input on on casual players, some TOP players are well known here, they spended so much time on the game, way more time then the devs itselfs.

This is great stuff, Sensotix, thanks! I’ve been playing 20/20/30 interrupt build for several days now but I’m definitely fond of the classic shatter mesmer, and adding the stealth tricks to it that you do go a long way towards making it viable (instead of being predicted and dodged/blocked all the time). Will try it out for sure!

A few questions:
1. What are your damage combos? The shatter sequence is too fast to track in the videos.. Is it just dodge/Mirror/wrack, or do you throw in an IP daze first for some vuln?
2. I love Blink and can’t really live without it on my bar; replacing Null Field seems the logical option but then I have no condition defense. Thoughts on taking torch trait + blink instead of boon-strip and Null? I give up all boon stripping entirely that way though … argh. Null is great for point support, too. I don’t want to lose Mind Wrack though, as it’s the primary burst tool. I could replace Decoy but that halves my available stealth. Maybe I’ll just have to learn to play Blink-less..
3. What was your build for offensive guard?
edit – 4. The build you linked for stealth/shatter uses Divinity runes, but it looked like you switched to Lyssa in the video?

my damage combo is usually the immobilise and then dazing him with f3 and the clones i have while using blurred frenzy…then i follow up with mirror images a dodge and mind wrack
2) i think boon strip is essential since protection can really be a problem for you..also stability….playing without blink is not so bad but you can also play gs/staff with blink kind of what helseth plays but then you dont have the stealth so your choice
3) the build can be found in the description of the guard video i have added it today
4) yea i just changed the runes for solo q because i need the condi remove since i dont always have a guardian on my team

I wish we had a choice to choose a map. like before the game actually started it would bring up two different maps to choose from. If you don’t vote within a certain amount of time it recognizes you as afk. (the map vote thing is basically so we don’t have to play on skyhammer…)

The patch has been out for 2 days. There were so many changes that we really need to let things settle and let people find their way. Big balance changes like this shake things up a lot, and nobody can know how the community will adapt to the change until they adapt to the change, which usually takes longer than a couple days.

Maybe this is a bad place to post a suggestion, as I am not an experienced tournament player. ^^

I think it would be rather awesome if the top teams could test balance changes. A custom arena maybe, where those teams could play matches against one another, before the changes went live.

That way, feedback from experienced players could be handed directly to the developers. Balance would be tested by experienced players, and the rest of us would still have the option to voice our opinions afterwards to cower anything not discovered through testing.

Most of the 10% has direct access to the developers already. Some take advantage of it, most do not. We can’t control whether or not they give us feedback, but we definitely give them ample opportunity to do so.

Yeah I agree with the above responses, it seems like the devs arent aware of the fact that for example Sensotix, helseth have been playing the game its PvP since the start of beta, that makes them have more understanding of the game then any of the devs.

The devs dont have the time to play the game that much, the fact is that players are coming up with all sorts of different builds and strategies, not the devs and by doing so there knowledge of what counters what is far greater.

Im actually thinking that instead of after a patch, that before or during the livestream TOP players (whats left of them) should already be allowed to have some input so the devs can adjust to it, not saying that after a patch there shouldn be a talk about balance changes.

The point is there needs to be far more communication then just forums.

Personally I like helseth his playstyle and his skill the most. On his stream when he is solo queing he is actually saying what he counters, why he is casting that skill, this is what I miss from the other 2 mesmers, in all honestly havent seen sensotix streaming dow but subcuty is silent most of the time…

Anyway to the OP would love to see you stream, I love your builds and interviews on your channel, keep it up.

to close up, devs should make monthly talks about balancing PvP with top players,…the problem I have is that PvP updates are so slow and that they keep on saying that the current meta needs to be tested out first….top players are almost instantly saying after the patch HELLO DEVS wake up, dont you think we tested it already, I would suggest after a week a new patch releases talk to the top players and make preparations already for another patch.

in my opinion balancing is about balancing for good teams good players and if you are new so be it, adjust and learn to play better then. I rather have a balanced game for skilled players then build that require spamming a couple of buttons

either anet has a really bad management or underfunded or just incompetent developers but all these options lead to what we got right now -> a bad and broken pvp
i truly hope it will change cause i love the game but currently this game goes into a dead end ( spvp, tpvp only)

yes i know it wont change anything probably but this video will be my last try to do something so that people cant blame me for being pathetic and just talking but not doing anything to help
