About increasing level cap and gear

in Suggestions

Sernius Alathar.6538

Why raise the level cap? I never understood the point of levels reaching into the hundreds. Guild Wars 1 had a level cap of 20, and the rest of the mobs were a static level once your reached ya max leveled areas, not that it was much of an issue, boss mobs were naturally higher then trash. The game was skill based like GW2 is. Everything is scaled anyway so does it really make any difference?

As for gear treadmill, thats kinda disappointing. Alot of players had faith in the word of the dev team, but going back on this big one is just not sitting well with anyone.

That can permit the developers to have more time to just fix bugs and add more endgame content.

In some respects comments like this is what instigated the incarnation of the ascended gear. ENDGAME, the most subjective and over used term in gaming.

I personally have GREAT faith in Anet. And so should you.
This game is already awesome, there is still so much to enjoy.
Sometimes I just go to some beautiful location in the game and just relax and walk around the streets. It’s probably the only game that offered me such great pleasure and joy.
And there is so much more to come.

We are what 3 months into the game, we have had 2 large content updates, we have alot of evolving systems that people enjoy, and things are getting steadily ironed out. I’m pretty happy to play the game, and I say keep up the goodwork, every game has niggling issues but GW team have a pretty good track record for ironing out bugs and issues. If you want to just spend your time griping about the small issues instead of enjoying the game frankly thats your loss.

Sernius Alathar.6538

Not just themed but there should be some relevant to the Guild Wars World as well, I’d gladly grind for the 1Scepter of Orr or even something like the Hammer of Kathandrax, something more guild warsy.

1 The Scepter of Orr is a relic from the kingdom of Orr and is the twin of the Staff of the Mists which controls forces from beyond the known reality, such as a titan, and makes this outer world obey the bearer’s will; this staff controls the mind world and as such alters a player’s energy when wielded or near by.

Expansion Utopia!

in Suggestions

Posted by: Sernius Alathar.6538

Sernius Alathar.6538

You do realise alot of the concepts of Utopia were implemented into Eye of the North and Guild Wars 2, that is why the expansion was originally cancelled and Eye of the North firmed up and Guild Wars 2 started. E.g. Supposedly The Destroyers were a concept that originated from Utopia as did the Asura, and the Sylvari.

Their is still alot of stuff from utopia that could be implemented now that the bare bones of Guild Wars 2 is set down. I would say wait and see, we already have the Fractals of the Mists which is a dungeon that basically delves through time and space, when we get our bigger update patches expanding into the Isle of Janthir and beyond perhaps we will see more. Also keep an eye open for how the Tengu have progressed in the last 250 years, they had a very meso-american influence on the tarnished coast, the Quetzal tribes as an example.

There is alot of potential, but also alot that has been added more subtly.

No one wants to see a circus instead of a game, where everyone is running around not having a single thing alike. We will lose our “special” feeling about playing our race.

Even with the same armor on I really doubt you would confuse an asura for a charr or human :P. On defining the player they really need to work on class specific armor, if you goto Lion’s Arch you can’t look at any Light armor class and instantly know what profession they are, I like the armors we have don’t get me wrong but would equally like to see armors that differentiate between the classes as well.

Sernius Alathar.6538

I will give my View since you asked for it Diabolus. I do not believe mounts should be in the game for a few reasons, the ones outlined by Dreamwalker above. Also personally I am a lore fan in the game, and mounts where used very sparingly in guild wars 1, only the stone summit were notable for even considering mounting creatures, they used the lesser tundra giant and the dolyak but they were able to because physiologically they were much lighter and more capable of harnessing them. No other race: Norn, Charr or Human used them, and even the Asura as advanced as they where used golemancy for automatons in industrial applications. Their was a minor form of mass transit in the Luxon Armada using the Larger species of turtles in the Jade Sea but hardly viable as a mount. With the expansion of the races through Tyria and the logical relocation or even extinction of large species what could be used as a mount?
Their is the argument that “oh we can have golems or iron legion constructions” but when does peoples own indulgence overrule the practical application of this system?
YES the waypoint system needs to redone price wise, even if it was a simple as making waypointing within the same map cost nothing, but Waypointing to another map cost silver. Again though the NEED vs’s the WANT of conformity with other games seems a bit indulgent. The only reason you want it is because games like WoW have it, and for your own speed boost indulgence, is that alright? I don’t think so.

Some people say the Lore of this is irrelevant, if someone is as ignorant as to believe that then they should just go back to tetris. The reality is that this is a SEQUEL to a game that made the story important and the sooner people realise that the lore and story is what makes guild wars what it is, the sooner people appreciate the game they are playing instead of complaining about features from OTHER games it doesn’t have.

I could argue till I am blue in the face, but the reality is that you already have your mind focused purely on what you want and that anyone else’s opinion is irrelevant, otherwise you wouldn’t have even started the post.

Sernius Alathar.6538

We aren’t seeing eye-to-eye as I completely disagree with the idea of mounts in GW. As for permanent speed boost, that’s pretty lazy right? Nearly all classes have a variation of speed boost whether it be a utility or weapon skill and the only time you use them is to quickly get from point A to point B. THAT said maps are not so huge that your miles away from a waypoint, yes Orr as an example is more difficult then most but that is the nature of the beast.

Basically what you said is you want a speed boost to: A. allow you to farm events quicker and/or B. Recover quick enough so that a Boss’s hp in an event doesn’t regenerate because your back in combat quicker.

Obviously your having troubles with speed boosts, I’d say re-evaluate your skills as it’s not exactly difficult to progress quickly through maps. There are enough utilities, consumables to give you sufficient speed to ‘farm’ wherever you need to farm. Players have been doing it throughout Orr sufficiently without the need for mounts. If you really want to be a dedicated speed farmer, make a thief as they have a signet with a permanent 25% speed boost.

Fractured Dungeons - Mist Incursions

in Suggestions

Posted by: Sernius Alathar.6538

Sernius Alathar.6538

Fractals of the Mists is an incredible dungeon assembly, its thoroughly enjoyable and quite addictive. I love that we now have a framework for evolving dungeons, I have some ideas that I reckon would be pretty neat.

*1 – Fractals of the Mists (Multiverse)

The potential to add new Fractals to this dungeon is incredible, I would love to see one day a system of random clusters that are implemented into the fractals dungeons. What would happen is when you start you are placed in a certain multiverse cluster e.g. The current cluster of dungeons in the Fractals would be 1 cluster. As the game progresses new clusters could easily be added and broken down into groupings to give a different experience each time.

*2 – Mist Incursions

With the asuran;s love of tampering with the unknowable and prodding the inconceivable, the possibility of incursions to our own Tyria is possible evidenced by the Steam creature incursions. So why not run a new series of Mist Incursion dynamic events across the whole game, an example of how the event could work could be.

A strange portal has appeared in queensdale, strange creatures have appeared nearby go to investigate. Then you have different types of incursions: Hostile Incursion, Diplomatic Incursion, Exploration Incursion, you could even have one where you could venture into a new instance which is like a 1 dungeon fractal incursion.

*3 – Fractured Dungeons

Perhaps occasionally when you enter a dungeon an assistant of Dessa’s might be there, or appear somewhere along the path you have chosen and inform you that a disturbance has opened up a temporary change in the local area, modifying what you would regularly see in the dungeon to something different, based potentially on time or alternative timeline e.g. You enter Crucible of Eternity and you come across an area where you discover an alternate timeline where Primordus has taken control of the tarnished coast and the Inquest are the last asura left after the destruction of Rata Sum, and for that path you have to fight off a destroyer seige.

Something that changes up the dungeons a little bit.

The possibilities with the introduction of such a system as fractals is exciting.

They deliberately decided to make them unavailable for all PvP except WvW as you can wear whatever you want there. Don’t you think its insulting to the people who made the game that your too lazy to play the content they designed for this new type of item, I hope they don’t implement it for WvW rewards.

Posted by: Sernius Alathar.6538

Sernius Alathar.6538

I’ll be more constructive. It is in some respects hard to upgrade a chest to be fair to the player but at the same time not pay-2-win. They want you to be conned into the chests by claiming all this amazing loot, but also pad it so its completely unlikely you will get the item with the sheer amount of items in RNG. Value for money is not an aim any game aspires too, actually I lie, GW1 monetization had integrity no needless items in the store, no lottery, you had what you could buy, and it was all extras, reasonable prices, reasonable items, and account wide benefits why they moved away from ‘fair and balanced’ i’m not sure, but be kitten sure we will have the ‘wintersday chests’ too cause thats basically the unimaginative nature of the lockbox system.

I would personally love to see the removal of the BL chests, or any grab bag/gamble box from the game, and re-introduce chests and lockpicks/keys like we had in GW1.

Precursors for GWAMM's

I’ve talked to many players who have thought the same thing Hero, alot had hope that GW2 would reward them with something cool, and it also motivated alot of players to finish off GWAMM for GW2. Welfare Ascended Items will be needed soon

in Suggestions

Posted by: Sernius Alathar.6538

Sernius Alathar.6538

Theres a simple solution for this, In GW1 the way “INFUSED” items worked, cause basically they are exactly the same thing just repackaged to be new and amazing, was to prevent spectral agony from the Mursaat.

To do this you needed some essence from an eidolon, you took it to a seer to ‘upgrade’ your armor. How about we have a system similiar but any mists creature of significant power can drop essence used for upgrading your current armor to infused/ascended armor, like it was originally meant to work. The stats would boost naturally based on the type of essence you got and upgraded with, enable the drops in ALL zones, naturally higher chances the higher the level satsifying the gear heads, but making it accessible for the regular player.

Posted by: Sernius Alathar.6538

Sernius Alathar.6538

I think that a more constructive solution would be to make titles more apparent in general but give GWAMM titles a bit of flair so you really stand out from the crowd.

On the Hall of monuments title, anyone could get them, they aren’t anything impressive or time consuming, half of them you could get without completing the titles so I think its quite fair for them to just have a title. GWAMM on the other hand completed the titles that’s the distinction.

I agree their needs to be more flair and more distinction, there should be like a special aura unlock or something like they had with the Nightfall pre-order and you had particle effects for emotes or whatever. To be honest a precursor isn’t much of a stretch, why wouldn’t a proper legacy item be a precursor?

Precursors for GWAMM's

in Suggestions

Posted by: Sernius Alathar.6538

Sernius Alathar.6538

Not to flog a dead horse but I think alot of GWAMM players still feel stiffed for getting nothing but a title for GW2. These players who embraced Guild Wars 1 and played it religiously completing all aspects of it, dungeons, vanquish’s, cartography, activity titles, the story from pre-searing to the first glimpses of the Elder Dragons, long, short, expensive and time consuming titles that encompassed nearly every aspect of the Guild Wars World, and again we only got a title?

I love guild wars and I spent the time as did many others going through everything your world has to offer as a show of dedication and support as well as our own self glory, yet we receive no real legacy item to show for it, or to reward us for the effort we spent. The hall of monuments is nice and a nice bit of nostalgia, but didn’t require the dedication needed to get the GWAMM title.

I have one suggestion that would be a very decent thankyou for the trust and support the Guild Wars 1 community and players especially the ones that invested the time as said above to get the ultimate title.

My suggestion would be to award GWAMM players with a Xunlai Key for the Xunlai Chest in the Hall of Monuments. Within that chest would be a Precursor.

Now when I say this I don’t mean an insta-economy money farm for just GWAMM players I would suggest a few things.

A. Players who achieved GWAMM would get a Xunlai key per character who Achieved GWAMM or per account.

B. The Xunlai chest acts the way a Vendor would, but the key is exchanged like a token for any current available Legendary Precursor.

C. The Precursor/s when obtained MUST be Account bound > Soulbound on Equip.

I think as a token of thanks to the players who committed themselves to the GW1 world and achieved the ultimate. It would be a very nice token of recognition and I am sure many of us would greatly appreciate it.

  • On a side-note, non-gw1 players please don’t troll this thread as it has nothing to do with you.

I’m pleasantly surprised to see another event so soon after halloween, I was very impressed with Halloween and how it unfolded and it was a hell of a lot of fun, clocktower FTW!

The new event looks interesting so many theories going through our guild chat. So far we have come up with:

*Based on the zaishen engineers near the fort the rebuilding of the battle isles/embark beach.

  • Our friendly deep sea dragon stirring closer to Tyria (We already know it’s caused problems for the deep sea dwelling Lagos, Krait and Quaggan)
  • My one wish is to see the flags of the Imperial Fleet from Cantha, I wanna go back to the Jade Sea and the Echovald Forest now that Shiro’s curse is gone. We thought maybe since zhaitans forces are slowly being destroyed now with his death that contact might be re-established with the other nations.
  • The map in the house shows routes leading towards Amnoon Oasis near the Crystal Desert, old deldrimor lands, the tarnished coast, scavengers causeway and into Tyria suggesting perhaps an invasion or exploratory force of some kind from the south.
  • Even talk of the Corsair and Elonian Refugees .
  • Also it might not be the Deep Sea Dragon, that crab looked a bit like a Destroyer Crab, Primordus could be stirring we know Destroyers have been seen on the Kessex side of the great wall.

Whatever it is, I;m sure it will be great can’t wait for more info.

  • Oh someone mentioned earlier about the chunk of land between LA and Kessex, I believe that is the D’Alessio Seaboard down to Riverside Province which we know resides within the Dominion of Winds now.

OH but by doing it so only a very specific player base does it you polarise the players into favored and unfavored who will resent the devs because of stupid ideas.

If you apply the same ridiculous notion to the rest of the game, “oh they beat Zhaitan, no-one else can now”, “Oh someone leveled a mesmer to max, someone might see that, lets make only ONE player max a mesmer”, come on people rolls eyes

I would assume it would be the same. Traditional titles in GW1 relating to seasons were also continued through other events.

E.g. If your new to GW2 they have Wintersday which is the equivalent of Christmas, and they have sweets and wintersday gifts and costume brawls as well.

Unlike Gw2 though, GW1 never had an achievment system it was based around titles like Sweetooth or Drunken Title and any alcohol or sweets consumed through myriads of events contributed into your max title. The festival achievement tab looks to be a universal achievement listing area for festivities and I would assume that each year you can continue your achievements otherwise why add them? I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw costume brawl during wintersday activities as well.

One thing though, each Seasonal Event had items purely unique to that event, Wintersday, Dragon Festival, Halloween etc. All had cosmetic items that were only obtained in that year. So those devil horns could be a grawl mask next year, or something else the next. Each year also added extra missions relating to the season.

Love the Halloween event so far, been alot of fun and a nice lil side-activity to do while running my alts through the zones. I could grumble about the drop rate from BL chests or MK chests, or the matt requirements for Halloween items, but these topics have been added and replied to already.

Instead I’d like to suggest or ask even if the dev team has in development the Costume Maker or Festival Hat Keeper like we had in GW1.

For new players to GW2 basically:

Costume makers are special NPCs that create costumes for your characters. Once you have purchased a costume from the Guild Wars In-Game Store or the NCsoft Store, speak to a Costume Maker to receive your costumes. Once you have purchased a costume, any character on your account can wear it. Each character just needs to speak to the Costume Maker to receive a costume.

You basically goto the costume maker and can withdraw at anytime unlocked costumes for any character on your account, which is sensible and doesn’t waste all you bank slots.

Also:

Festival hat makers are special NPCs that create festival hats for your characters. Once one of your characters has acquired a festival hat, this NPC allows all your characters to also be able to obtain that festival hat at any time.

It is along the same lines as the costume maker, you show them the hats you acquire and they then become available for you to make at any time.

I would love to see this feature back, as would I am sure many other GW1 players and any new players to the game.

Also please stop holding our wallets to ransom, costume unlocks were a 1 off thing for an account in GW1, don’t be stingy and make it a per character basis, the games only 2 months old and us GW1 players know exactly how much it used to cost to get a costume.

Why don’t you just rupt his skills, or keep the thief off balance, they require very melee targeted damage to actually do alot of damage, many classes have counters for those sort of tactics. e.g. Guardians Binding Blade needs no target to use and a great way to tag veiled toons, mesmers have temporal curtain/Into the void, rangers with the right trap trait can really screw things up with ground targetting traps like chill etc. It’s not overly difficult, yeah there is a bit of a bug atm with rendering issues it will get sorted.

As for the thief in the combat the other day who entered downed state then logged after veiling, bring back dishonor points please.

Seeing map/armors/stuck/weapons or other art issues?

Hi guys,

While exploring a way to cross that bridge near the bandit setup on top of one of the bluffs in Brisban Wildlands I came across an ‘End of the World’ Map bug. The links below show the location and what you can see. The path is just north of the renown heart, and is quite wide easy enough to follow anyway. Thought I’d let you know because the last thing anyone wants is people falling into the mists.
