Plz reduce Req for iron & soft wood refining

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Seven Star Stalker.1740

The problem is the distribution of levels across the map.

You have 5 zones for copper, then 25-40 gives iron (So that’s about 6-8 zones), then 40-50 gives platinum and 6o-70 gives platinum into Mithril. 70+ almost always gives Mithril ore, with only 80’ed zones (4) which have Orilachium, and that’s about 5 nodes a map +/- compared to the 20 or so Mithril nodes.

Now that’s just ores. With wood it’s even worst. The best way to go about it is WvW. The borderlands are rich with copper-gold, and platinum+is in EBGwith the same for wood respectively.

Major Lunatic Inquisition bug

in Blood and Madness

Posted by: Seven Star Stalker.1740

Seven Star Stalker.1740

There’s a bug in the lunatic inquisition for courtiers. This can be resolved, mind you, and I have the explanation.

Sometimes if you start the game as a courtier, you will actually be able to use items. Food, torches, webs, ect, but in the way villagers do, as opposed to traps. Now what happens is while you have these items equipped you loose access to your 1-5 skills, and also you can’t plant traps at all. In some sense it’s a good thing, but when you think about how powerful items like the torch are, it’s pretty broken from a realistic perspective.

Now, there is one way I’ve found to cure this. If you suicide (I’m guessing it’s dying in general but I found it via suiciding as courtier) when you respawn, it’ll fix itself. Signs of this bug are that your character is wearing the courtier clothes, but isn’t semitransparent like a courtier should be. But once you jump off a cliff or presumably die from any other cause, you should be able to use traps, and you shouldn’t be able to access villager abilities. Just putting this here so ANet knows, and if you see someone doing this you can let them know.

Thanks for reading and good luck.

The state of RNG

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Seven Star Stalker.1740

I also recall ’ there is no grinding in GW2’ .

You’re missing something. There’s no required grinding in GW2. If you grind for something, you do so on your own free will. And by making that choice to grind, you give up all rights to complain.

This doesn’t make any sense.

Like, okay, it does if you intend to do nothing or have no real goals. But grind is pretty much the path for anyone who’s unlucky. I for one am so unlucky, that my RNG has been terribad in every game I’ve played (Save for with one mount in WoW but that was only because I was solo-spamming the same dungeon several times a day for two weeks so take that how you will).

If you don’t get good drops, you have either grind the stuff to flush in the forge, or grind the gold to afford what you need. Still a grind either way.

In other words, you want every goals in the game to be non-grindy. That’s leaving out those players who want/have to grind in order to be satisfied. I think it’s better if there are some aspects of the game to be grindy and others not in order to address both sides. The legendary system falls on the grindy one.

False. I believe grind is good. I think legendary grind is well implemented, save for the precursors system which even ANet has admitted that they’re going to fix. What I think is silly is grinding specifically gold for a lot of things because there is no other practical way to attain them. For example with weapon skins. The drop rate of tickets and scraps is so absurdly low that trying to get them purely via chests and keys is completely unreliable a means to attain them.

If we had to however grind a large number of poison spores, a large number of weapon parts (250 of each type depending on the weapon), a gift of (insert item here), and a to,e of knowledge, that’d be lovely. Ilya and Lyss and Vulcanuses, same thing. Heavy grind, yes. But they are a practical grinding effort, not a grind for gold (unless you want to buy them with gold, which you still have the power to do!)

If you don’t get good drops, you have either grind the stuff to flush in the forge, or grind the gold to afford what you need. Still a grind either way.

But the grind isn’t required. You’re making it a requirement because you want it. If your goal is to outfit your character with the best looking gear, then do what you need to in order to achieve it. Just remember that the game can be played without ever having the epic looking skins.

I grind because I want something. Wanted to craft a Legendary, so I had to do dungeons over and over. That was my choice to make as my end game goal. Only for me, I found fun ways to do it.

Yes but grinding gold for skins with abyssmal drop rates and artificial rarity isn’t the same as if the skin requires say.. I dunno. You had to take Sylvari T1 cultural weapon, add 250 toxin spores, a sigil of venom, and a gift of wood/Gift of Poison (Bunch of spores, venom sacks, rune of anti-toxin and the new sigil). For example. The dream thistle weapons aren’t remotely worth their cost. They’re so expensive because the chances of getting one are impossibly low, not because they’re awesome or require some amazing heavy effort. An example of good grinding is legendaries, save for precursors. Grinding the marks and the wood every day is fine, but grinding just.. Gold.. Ugh.

Grinding raw gold on its own just isn’t the same and more often than not it’s the only practical way to get a lot of things, that’s what I’m saying. Same case with precursors. Great, if you get one. Lol, good luck with that though. It’s more efficient to sell all the rares and sell them, getting the funds from that to buy a precursor than forge2win. And again, all this is due to the infernal RNG.

What is ONE change you'd make to your class?

Make engineer Swift shoes give a passive 25% move speed.

This ability just feels.. Really bad.. And engineers don’t have any half descent swiftness unless you take a ton of boon duration to chain-elixir-b.

Speedy Kits trait…100% uptime of 33% swiftness…

Or we can get a proper change. Not everyone uses kits, or at least multiple kits, nor is everyone trailed for it.

More than that this is what I want to be changed. Nothing more. Better yet I’d prefer a new skill altogether.

And? Other professions get 25% movement increase through signets. Do you honestly think they all run signet builds. Your bring a bit hypocritical here. We have a trait that can do this. Travelers runes. Runes of Speed. Rune of the Centaur. Speedy kits. Elixir B.

I didn’t say all signet builds, lol. But the point is, they have access to it. On my Necromancer, I generally just use Locust Signet because I enjoy the movement speed, and almost EVERYTIME I see the other 25% speed signet classes they use it just because of how good it is for movement and roaming. It feels crappy to not be able to keep up with your friends because of a pretty minor thing that every class should have access to, or a major thing that feels silly to restrain.
And then you have Thieves, Elementalists, Rangers; Warriors have a reasonably spammable movement booster via banners and Guardian have staff symbol which is easy to toss out though for me personally that still doesn’t cut it. Also, don’t forget traits that nullify the need for swiftness spams or movement speed signets like the dagger wielding trait in Necromancers, or the 10% in air magic + the number of swiftness you have access to due to attunemennt changes+weapon spells+ultility spells (The glyph gives you swiftness for example) and all those kinds of things too.

It just feels pretty suboptimal to run runes that may not synergize with your playstyle, and yet miss out a feature that’s somewhat abundant in the game. The only classes that truly lack a half descent swiftness and movement skill are Guardian in some sense and Mesmer with their curtain. By no means do I feel they should miss out the 25%, by the way. I think they should have it too in their design, incorporated in some way or form.

Anyway, more than that I’m simply giving the change I would like. Again, no one said you have to agree with me. But I understand, this is the internet, and having an opinion is a crime. I’m hardly going to quit the game if I don’t get this. It’d just be pleasant to have.

Most people already have said what I think.

What I would like to add though, is an issue with living story and thematic skins.

So far, we have many many weapon skins. Yet only the SAB, Aetherpath and a few other skins are really 100% free without any real grind. Dream thistle, Aetherized and molten are all tediously difficult to get, either from RNG tickets which.. Ugh. Or. You grind 100 gold, which isn’t no meager amount.

What I hope is that we could have more skins via currencies. A good example was the sovereign skins, and the zephyr sanctum skins aswell. Perhaps in the next LS update there might be currencies from the new content, which can be traded in for different types of skins. Sure, the cost wouldn’t be very high for them resell wise but it’d give more oppurtunity for players without needing to pay or grind.

Are expansion needed? [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Seven Star Stalker.1740

Seven Star Stalker.1740

I think it’s largely due to the fact that ANet has to think of what they’re actually going to bring about in an expansion in lieu of the LS strategy.

Tbh, I personally think there are several reasons why an expansion will eventually need to form. Firstly, because large clumps of land. I can see small sections like maybe that thin strip between TlF and SFF being opened up for a LS update, but for example, The Magus And Magumma regions – I don’t think people will be very impressed if they were done in a mere LS patch, especially given how big they are. Also, considering now little adherence to the personal story, and how little cohesion the LS storyline has, for serious things, I would prefer a formal expansion personally.

Of course, WP explains pretty much the pros and cons well enough. I don’t think I can say anything else without mimicking him.

Zerging works due to the loot system, actually, not raiding.

The thing is, so long as you’ve landed about 3 or so hits on the target, depending on its type and ranking and stuff, you can still claim a reward. In WoW though, or any other MMO to that end, this doesn’t exist. If you don’t get the node, you loose it. If you don’t get the target, you have to wait, ect.

I don’t think it’s a flaw personally but it’s due to the game’s fundamental design.

Achievements are kinda.. Not really counting. Gem store is Gemstore. In terms of actual in game armor, which you can just get dropped here and there, we haven’t had any.

Like, why can’t we have something like the ‘Godset’ where we have gauntlets of Grenth, shoulders of balthzar, melandru’s claws, dwayna’s divine feet and the visage of Lyssa? It seems silly to have a million weapon skins and yet hardly any armor skins in contrast.

Is Guild Wars 2 Alt Friendly or Not?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Seven Star Stalker.1740

Seven Star Stalker.1740

I honestly cant think of an aspect of the game that is outright alt-friendly save the AP system.

what about the laurel system? you can buy ascended items with laurels
what about the karma system? exotic endgame gear with karma from Orr vendors
what about the dungeon token system? exotic endgame gear

you guys are complaining about the small bonuses from WvW-xp levels, fractals and the dye-system? O_o

What do you want guys? Gear being accountbound = not having to work for BIS-gear on a character? Seriously? I mean you already can play entirely on your Guardian and equip your Thief BIS by spending karma, laurels and coin. In which other game can you do this?

Dungeon Tokens, yes.

Karma, no, not since they nerfed it into hell.
Laurels are incredibly punishing and you often need other stuff too like Ectos.

Also, those bonuses? They’re not small. The simple fact you called them small means either you severely undervalue them or you don’t understand them at all. Damage increases, extra abilities, extra effects, ect. It’s exactly the same as saying traits are minor bonuses. Dye was originally going to be account bound, that changed for w/e reason.

It’s it the gear that’s the issue, in fact unless you misread every person’s post. It’s everything else. Gear is okay as in, not perfect, but not backbreaking. Everything else though, is a nuisance, save for the bank system.
