Yeah.. except the fact that it isn’t.
We got multiple new skins released in-game. Champion box weapons and Ascended sets for one.

We also have gotten loads of new stuff overall that have nothing at all to do with the cash shop, such as new maps, new events, new dungeon, new systems and so on.

champion box weapons 1 year ago, ascended armor (UGLY!) 9 months ago, fossil weapons a few months ago….that’s it – now how many armor sets and RNG chest weapon sets have been added to the store? about 5x as many. This is the issue…it should be 75% IN GAME, 25% in store – yet is is the opposite. I should also mention that 95% of all good looking medium armor for females is from the store unless you are a norn or human…then it’s 80%. I think what upsets me the most is the only armor sets that have been added in game in TWO YEARS have been the hideous ascended sets… oh, unless you tPvP in the official tourney’s which many people don’t.

I’m sorry but that list shouldn’t count considering many, many, many of the skins and items were temporary.

For what it’s worth, that looks reasonably close within your capacity to recreate her.

We’ve got corrupted/Jormag skins, and Destroyer/Primordus skins. Orrian skins sort of fall under being Zhaitan skins, as they overall fit the same thematic for the major part. We still needed Branded skins (Though given we’re not really going after Kralkatorick, and that we have quite a few pretty purple skins that’s not too big a priority), and I think it’d be nice if in Living Season 2 or at the end of it we got craftable Mordrem skins.

Please, ANet. Craftable like their brethren.

I wouldn’t say the Gemstore is bad as much as it is Anet’s attachment with the gem store that’s the problem.

Id suggest no one quote this as I’m actually going to watch the video shortly, but I just wanted to get that base feeling out. I’ll edit this later to share my feelings on the video.

I assume you mean armor skins, because most weapon skins can be purchased on the TP for gold.

Uhm, yes if someone gets really lucky with their key farming, or buys them outright.

If no one uses keys, no one gets scraps and there are no skins. Also, there’s the other skins (Marjory weapons, Braham and Rox skins, ect.)

Even though they’re resellable on the TP, fundamentally their source is from the the gem store. Just like when you buy fruits from Woolworths or Safeway, it fundamentally comes from farms.

Digression aside, that’s an aspect I resonate with the OP in regards to that the gem store bothers me about. If our progression is supposed to be cosmetic, I don’t have an issue with that, but my point is that if I wanted to pay for a reward I could just buy some other strategy or RPG title and get my feeling of fulfilment and success and prettiness from that. It’s not even a case of some reward and skins being in the store. It’s most.

Edit; Before anyone misunderstands, I’m fine with the presence of the gem store. My issue is with the lack of presence of stuff outside of it.

I second what Labjax said.

Ectos are kind of silly to have from low level gear where they’ll largely be useless. They should make salvaging rares give rare resources. Better yet, maybe resources for special dungeon-crafted gear? That could breath new life into that section of the game (Though I doubt ANet cares for dungeons enough to even touch that matter with a 10,000 foot pole).

There’s nothing exciting about getting an essence of luck from a BL chest. I get more luck from daily salvages than chests.

For people just joining it seems alright. I know a friend of mine who joined literally last week had trouble learning things up.

This isn’t WoW. We’ll have more things to aim for, and it won’t restrict us at all (Functionally at least). We can have weapon skins and stuff from these factions too, along with runes, possible Armor components, stat sets and more.

On the topic of chests I’d say the only change I want is for them to get rid of useless crap from them like boosters and only have things that are useful and rare drop. Then, reduce their drop rate aswell.

That way there’s actual incentive to buy them, and there’s a real reward. Right now getting a bunch of boosters.. Well, it helps that there’s the sparkly dust conversion thing now, but it’s still kind of cruddy.

Is there a legitimate basis against Race change aside from Personal story? Because largely, personal story is kinda crappy anyway.

If you’re going to say no, explain why. I mean, I for one chose an Asura female without realizing the Armor restrictions and I regret it. If I could race change I’d do it in a heartbeat.

I’d like for “Hard-Mode Maps” where the enemies are inherently stronger and veterenized, but no actual separate mode.

The engineer ones are relatively fine. I’d suggest quivers for rangers but we have them. Elementalists can have like.. I dunno. Something similar to the headpiece? Necromancers can have bones or skulls or such on their piece. Mesmers would likely have something similar to CoL/Lightning Catcher and so on.

Straits of Devestation, Mt Maelstrom annnnnd.. It’s either Iron Marches or Blazeridge.

Straits of Devestation really contrasts well, and has an awesome name. Maelstrom is nice because of how expansive and flavoursome the region is, plus the volcano. And the other one (I don’t recall which I like more, but it’s one of those two) I simply like because of the overall design with the brand ripping stuff up there.

Tera is famous for its Loli-Race more than the outfits they end up in.

There are a lot of permissions I’d like to see split. for example:

Activate Build Items: I want all my members to be able to activate Banners (as they are a throw away item anyway), but I don’t really like the fact that they can also activate “Guild Karma Boost” for example.
Create a split for these things so we can better organise what Our members can do without being trolled by someone.

Geeze a lot of these QoLs can be solved by either in-game UI customization just like in GW1 or UI Customization through AddOn. ArenaNet obviously needs help in this department and I’m surprise why they have not made this available as an AddOn.

You do realize that even WoW is leaning towards ditching flying mounts now, right? And they have more opposition against losing flying mounts than game this game has support for ground mounts.

Yes, once my later characters get a birthday, they’ll have useless scrolls. Big deal. It’s not my first day playing an RPG. 90% of loot is crap.

They should probably turn it into just skill point scrolls on further birthdays, but that’s just me.

You’re not looking at it right, and you don’t understand why they send it to you.

The scroll is an advertisement. “Buy a new character slot now, and we’ll auto-level you to level 20 to help you get started!” If they used the in-game email to send you messages saying that, most people would be kittened by the blatant money grab and disrespect. But by calling it a birthday present, they can mail it out and people actually THANK THEM for the advertisement.

Is it useful? It can be, yes. But more and more people are finding them useless, and their true nature is starting to show.

I say its useless, you say its suboptimal unless used in conjecture with the aforementioned cash-grab. Fine, I’ll compromise over definitions. But it is what it is; a lazily designed item with an arbitrary restriction that limits nothing actually useful to anyone. If anything, a scroll without a level 20 maximum is more useful than that to people who want to make a new character as they can level the character up themselves, and then when they feel burnt out, they can use the scroll instead.

Nope never going to happen for two reasons…

1) exclusivity of having been on and supported GW2 since launch or at least their first real “event”

2) If they did they would have to refund a TON of players who have those skins listed on the TP as they would now never sell…

As for refunds, well, look at all the people who bought multiples of certain skins (i.e. Scarlet’s Kiss, Scarlet’s Rainbow, Molten Jetpack, multiple legendaries, multiples of Mystic Forge weapons) for their characters. They should be entitled to a refund too, in that case. Also people who bought numerous wind catchers and the like.

I’ve been playing since the first day (Account issues messed up my Beta access) and you honestly don’t even deserve that entitlement. They’re not founder-weapons. They’re not special. And more likely than not, Anet will release them again. For the better.

Really, if you’re even going to go there, don’t talk on the forums. If you really care for the game, the fact that the devs implemented a fix you suggested and the fact that thousand of players will benefit from it should be the reward in and of itself. Simple as that.
