This isn’t an issue of compromise. These items are pretty useless and pretty terrible x:

They don’t even need to do very much with the item. They just need to remove the “Upto level 20” and replace it with “20+ levels”.

Problem solved. And yes, they have the technology with the +1 level tomes. Noones going to use them because you can get character to level 20 in less than a day.

It’s such an arbitrary and lazy lack of coding. Yes, it’s lazy. I said it.

It might look wonky in some cases, though having the feature would be cool.

That said, I don’t think they’ll do it. Given the skin and aesthetic beauty of weapons is key, it’d be kinda lame to not be able to see a super fancy weapon for most people, and understandably so.

The regular prices for all Gem Store items are decent as they are. If you want to save money, it’s always good to have some self control, and wait for sales. Things like Character Slots, or BL Keys always goes on sale. As for skins, I’m sure they’ll go on sale at some point in the future. By then, they’ll be considered “classics”. But the reason why they would be on sale is because there would be better skins released.

And by the way, it takes me about a minute to get 4,000 Gems. If I can do it that quickly, so can new or Casual players.

Um, with all due respect, isn’t like.. Every game exactly like that to some degree?

Here’s an example. WoW isn’t putting flying in their newest expansion (It was said for the first patch, then for not at all. Then first patch if they feel like it). Modt people want them implemented for a variety of reasons, however.

Then look at LoL. Riot likes their games face paced and aggressive; action jam packed with interaction and skirmishing instead of build up. Hence, a lot of the stuff they implement facilitates that (Though I don’t play LoL much now compared to before GW2, so I can’t really give any recent examples).

The same is the case here. GW2 wants a certain game. They’re going to chase after that foremost, don’t you think?

But to an MMO company, they want you to take time. Even in a game without a subscription, your continued presence in the game leveling is a feature they can sell by showing an active world. Plus the longer you play, the greater the chance you will plunk down hard cash for an item in the gem shop or a load of gold.

In the original GW you could buy the ability to go directly to max level, most likely for PvP. Here both PvP and WvW you are auto promoted to max level so no need for such a feature.

But here the issue isn’t taking time. The issue is levelling is just dull. And to some end that’s actually true. Even more so now due to the way the trait system works.

If I don’t like something, there are two things I do; complain about it, or suggest better.

He’s done the latter. It’s not a hard concept to grasp. If you don’t agree with it that’s fine. No one is holding you to gunpoint to follow his agreement. You’re not going to get permabanned for not buying it. And if you did then this game has bigger issues than that.

If you don’t agree, you only need to tell us once. Or him. Or anyone else. And even still your point is moot. You haven’t countered anything I said, and really, max level doesn’t have any value in this game. It’s not like WoW where you skip actual content, or have power creep. You’re gonna be downscaled anyway. You’re not going to automatically get ascended gear on purchase – ANet isn’t that cruel. It’s just EXP. Which isn’t really that bad considering people have been complaining sbout having to go from 1-80 over and over for ages now.

Games have things like rare drop, special bosses/unlockables and the like because when people get them, they feel better about themselves and feel more energized to engage in that activity. This aspect of the mind is a need called self-Actualization.

It’s not about how you feel about my super shiny. It’s about how I feel about my super shiny that no one else has. Basic, basic gaming design dispels your statement, sorry. And believe it or not, designing a game requires much more psychology than coding and computer knowledge.

There isn’t any prestigious PVE gear, actually.

Because, by it’s nature, PvE isn’t prestigious. There’s nothing prestigious about learning to beat an unchanging AI. The AI in this game doesn’t learn or adapt its tactics based on the situation. It does what it’s programmed to do. Learning how to beat it (in many cases by simply getting enough people together and spamming 1) is not prestigious, it’s expected.

I have a lot of issues with this game and with ANet, but sPvP exclusive rewards certainly isn’t one of them. I would consider it a baby step in getting more people into what should have been the defining aspect of the game (next steps: balance and diversified game modes).

I would argue that no game mode is prestigious.

Anyone can join WvW from level one. Anyone can join PVP from rank one after their first character on their first level.

PVP has been neglected in at least some areas – I agree to that – but to say PVE is truly not prestigious solely because it’s PVE is incredibly incorrect.

Ascended Armor is Armor tier, not an Armor skin as such. There’s no amazement about it. And ultimately anyone can acquire it with a bit of effort.

The problem is PVE is that we don’t have any proper prestige. It’s either RNG, or hyper grind, and those are the remotely high tier cool looking stuff. Neither are sufficient. We need something actually challenging. Like..

I dunno. Maybe Armor bits that require a 5 minute Tequatl kill or something. I dunno. I’d say PVE itself is really hit or miss in general. It’s either so hard that you can’t do it alone. Or so easy that it’s not a challenge in the slightest. But that’s neither here nor there.

I have to agree that I would love an everlasting tonic usable during combat. Kuunevang V2.0 would be outstanding. Thinking of the swatches, something like that, but for mini’s would be great. Pick any account bound mini from earlier in the game. I’m only thinking account bound to prevent a value-based choice and sell-off, but tradeable wouldn’t be the end of the world.

Someone mentioned BL Tickets… what about 1 ticket per character turning 2 with a bonus of every skin going on sale for 1 ticket as a game based celebration? Everyone gets a chance to pick one skin from earlier (other than the “retired” ones, unless they come back temporarily as well) as long as they have a toon turning 2 along with the game. Anyone without a toon from the start can still take advantage of the cheap skins as long as they get/have tickets.

Anything is a bonus; as long as you keep that in mind, you can’t be too disappointed.

This might screw with the economy a fair bit, so I doubt they’ll implement this.

Asians will get offended <- Bogus argument. We had an Asian themed festival earlier this year. Stereotypes are fine to be made. Offensive ones, don’t. And really. You have to be realistic on what you’re doing. If you do some guy with a heavy Chinese accent that makes numerous grammatical errors in his speech, that’s kinda rude because you’re picking at a bad trait that people overall have (and a stereotype that’s negative and people often make fun of).
Honestly as long as they do reasonable research into the culture they’re after I don’t think they’ll legitimately offend anyone, save for the people who get offended by the slightest things. And given they just released in China, I’d say theyd be able to amply research the region to get a good and accurate idea.

Personally I’d drool allover a set of Chinese Fire Lance styled skins for ballistas and rifles. With modified sound effects too. And Hwacha Arrowcarts.

And Katana sword skins, Japanese Yumi bow skins, and more really.

There’s a lot of ways they can go with this, again, if they do their research. Heck, give us bonsais for our Housing :v

I mean look at the Mini Karka. It’s not even that amazing as a mini compared to others, possibly a bit big, but it’s not like.. Super cool or such. It’s just rare and pretty much impossible to get now really.

The principal is the same. You’re talking about gifts and value equality and stuff. If people decide the value however, then the value of gift can’t really be based on an Unestablished value.

In essence, there will always be a gift or present that some people will think is better than others, even if it isn’t.

Okay let’s take christmas as an example. A family has 2 children, 1 gets a lego set and the other one gets a playmobil house, both are happy because the presents seem to have/do have the same value—> this is a good system!
Now what would happen if 1 child gets a lego set and the other one gets pick-a-stick set? How do you think the second child would react?

1) Completely wrong. 100%. Warrior = OP is a year old thinking that is been proven so wrong. Warrior and Guardian only have average damage compare to thief, elementalist, etc. Like every other profession except elementalist, there is no reason to bring more than 1 of each profession in a dungeon. Each provide something specific.
- Ele is the best DPS, stack might and fury or vulnerability
- Thief bring stealth, vulnerability, blind
- Ranger bring spotter, frost spirit and fury
- Warrior bring might, banner and EA
- Guardian bring blind, aegis, reflect and protection
- Mesmer bring utilities and reflect
- Engineer can bring utilities and vulnerability

PUGS like warrior and guardian simply because they are easier to survive with it. And also a lot of false idea. Like kick someone only because they are ranger. Its make no sense since a ranger can be better than most other profession if build right. But what do you want pugs and pugs.

2) Your right. No arguing that. I like the 2 weeks update, but having a expansion would be nice.

3) Anet don’t accept that. But there is a difference between not accepting that or spending a lot of money in law suit and other legal mean to stop everything. You do what you can with what you have. Banning ppl that use these services (when they can figure it out) is a better tools. At least that seem to be Anet view.

4) You are wrong. Warrior have about the same dmg than an engineer, but not as an elementalist or a thief. There is balance if you know how to build a profession and play it. Sure the average pug will have more dps on a warrior than anything else. But that’s because its easy to do that on a warrior and that’s why Warrior was view as the GOD PROFESSION when the game started and nobody knew what the kitten there were doing. Could the game have more balance? Ya of course. Support Gear, condition, Necro in PvE, more than 1 good build on ranger, etc But there is still a lot of diversity and balance between each profession.

5) True. Leveling, legendary gift, Ascended gear, some food and some dungeon recipe. That’s pretty much all crafting does and its a shame. For me crafting should bring something more. Thing like useful item that don’t necessary make you stronger, but QoL or fun stuff. Thing like a parachute, transformation potion, balloons, firework, etc. Things that are not necessary to have, but thing that are nice and that ppl would want and that come from nowhere else. Also, crafting should be more balanced compare to other way to get equipment like armor and weapons. You want 1 or 2 set of armor? Better use dungeon token or buy it from the TP. Want to gear all you toons? Then crafting should be the way to go. High initial investment, but crafting stuff itself should be less costly than buying it. So there is a reason to craft or to not craft depending on what you want.

I don’t even know how they’d do legendary armor. Are the individual pieces legendaries, or is it a set? Is it made as a set? Or is it piece by piece?

If it’s piece by piece you’d need at least fifteen characters for each Gift of Exploration. And I don’t know anyone that dedicated or with that much free time .-.
