With that build, 25 stacks of might/bloodlust and guard stacks it’ll hit 40k HP while holding banner of defense (or near it). Not quite optimal by any stretch, and will probably get you killed, but 40k is possible.

Add some regeneration buffs to banners and you can be a walking regen bot.

I would go with one of those 4 to lock down an enemy. Try playing around with the build editor. http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/

Should you just go full Soldier gear ?

It really matters what you want to do in WvW. Soldiers gear, in my opinion, is best saved for zergs. When roaming I’ll run my berserker gear and burst my enemies down quickly. Sometimes a strong offense is the best defense.

You can also go with soldier armor for a little survivability, and full berserker trinkets (more stat allotment) for solid dps. It’ll boost your dangerously low HP along with your toughness, while still giving you good power and enough crit chance/damage.

You are the reason people are afraid to have fun and show their stuff to others.

If you took the time to type that essay about stuff that I could care less about then take the time to read the following.

I do not main ranger but I have 2 rangers. I main warrior and this video was from a nights game time. I died 5-6 times but the point of the video was to show all the mistakes each and every person i shot. One of those people might come to the forums and make a QQ thread asking for nerf but you can clearly see that in every part not a single fool dodged.

This is a full zerker ranger and I gave 0 thought on the build.

The last part was to show how fast you could kill someone with 2 rangers in the shortest time just for fun. That guy is a pretty good mesmer and even he didn’t have time to react.

Nothing in this video was to show anyone’s skill. It was for fun and the fights were with casuals vs us no lifes.

The only way i can see this thing getting balanced without it being slaughtered because of whine is that anet should give it a tell. Like they did with longbow 5 on warrior. Longbow 2 on ranger should get same treatment to give people a warning.

Please sir try to enjoy the game and not pull and pick on every little thing people do. Im just showing what people are doing wrong and why this shouldn’t be nerfed.

It’s just for fun my man. Try to enjoy your time playing games instead of ruining it for yourself and others :P

I apologise, thought this was another “OP” video.

You don’t see this on the internet very often. +1

I was playing around with this, mighty swap and the new assassin’s amulet. With what you lose in crit chance/damage you gain back on the amulet, and what you lose from taking assassin’s over berserker you gain (some) back with mighty swap (6 stacks of might).

So pretty much you want to stow pet, open with an auto attack w/ SotH if you want for a good chunk of HP, directly swap pet after combat opens for the 6 stacks of might and 6 seconds of quickness. Depending on the situation I like to try to put in a point blank shot to get the entire rapid fire in.

You get like, 2100 power 50% crit chance and 200% crit damage (pvp). 200 power from pet swapping and 250 more from bloodlust. The flanking 10% buff and longbow cooldown traits hurt to miss.

Shanks.2907

I’m surprised this hasn’t been implemented. Seems only natural that if it’s 4v5 the 5th member doesn’t respawn until someone else dies. It would fix the problems with people only joining one side in sPvP too. You’ll see the match start at 2v3, then slowly build up to 3v4 and then 4v5. And before 100 points in you can see who’s going to win because it’s outnumbered, and no one wants to join a losing team.

The max damage increase you can get is 35% with LB

You can get up to 60% with SotW.

Steady Focus 10%
Eagle Eye 5%
Hunter’s Tactics 10%
Runes of the Scholar 10%
Signet of the Wild 25%

You can even drop sigil of force in but I think air/fire do more dps.

if you think the LB changes aren't OP

in Ranger

Posted by: Shanks.2907

Shanks.2907

I’m one of those who dusted off their mule ranger and tested out the longbow.

And I’ve got to say it’s super OP against low skill players. That’s it. Any player with half a brain can dodge RF, reflect it back or LoS it. Where the LB play shines is in team work. Maps like Legacy of Foefire where you can move between points quickly utilizing 1500 range to sway 1v1/2v2s on far points. An unsuspected RF from the flank while CC in a 1v1 is devastating, and the pressure can quickly be put on a different point.

So it all comes down to tactics. A longbow ranger who plays conquest well with his team is now viable. A ranger who takes far point on his own and 1v1s is a bad LB ranger. If you’re traited out for max RF damage you are pretty much a sitting duck in close range. It takes 6/6/x/x/x to pull out that kind of damage, though I have wanted to try 6/x/x/x/6 for quickness/RF lolz.

And with tactics, I’ve been able to get close with my main (medi guard) and open up on them. Though, the LB are a pain now and have to be dealt with accordingly. You can’t just ignore them.

Meditations aren't OP, merely revitalized

Yeah I’m glad all the QQ shifted away from medi guard when the patch went live. There were countless threads about their “buffs” before the patch but none of them are significant. Cooldown reduction and small heal on renewed focus, along with smoke and mirrors on merciful intervention which NO ONE will ever use seriously.

And in fact, as a medi guardian main, I’m disappointed by the changes. Those “buffs” are justification enough for ANET not to give us any soft CC or mobility to stay in a fight. A niche shadowstep and 18 seconds.

I ran it a few times for lolz and it was certainly faceroll material. If you can sit back on a team fight and just focus down whoever is stunned/immob you can clear a team quite quickly. It’s certainly more deadly than the warrior longbow, deserving of the ranger class. Rapid Fire can kitten you up pretty quickly those damage multipliers add up, I think I had 60% between traits, scholar runes and SotW.

As for the virtues, with faceroll content they might not of thought it was necessary. Might not have been enough mobs to VoJ spam, no condis that needed clearing or no one shot mechanic that needed blocking. Virtues are very situational, but super effective.

Runes of the Pack have ~50% uptime on swiftness and fury, along with 175 power and 125 precision. You get to keep some of the dps runes offer, along with some uptime on combat mobility we need so desperately. Not entirely reliable as you need to get hit for the swiftness, but it’s the best middle ground imo.

Beats losing a utility for retreat or using traveler and hitting our dps.

What if it were symbols causing chills (1s cooldown), instead of hammer crit hits?

It is quite unimaginative. A boring passive proc that you can’t choose when you’d like to use it. And the fact that it’s only on one weapon really drops it’s usefulness.

I liked my idea of a symbol trait a while back. The idea is that each of our 4 symbols give give their own soft cc effect. GS symbol for chill, hammer for cripple, mace for weakness and staff for immob. A trait playing into what a guardian already uses giving us different sorts of soft cc for different weapon sets.

Or do you think arenanet honestly sat there thinking to themselves. “Gee, guardians are highly represented in high-end pvp. An average of more then 1 per team, wow… thats a lot. They also make up a significantly large portion in wvw zergs, infact just the game in general. They make up a significant portion of players in general. But hey, they arent that great at roaming, so we should probably just buff them”.

And how many medi guardians do you see in high level pvp? A bunker guardian being mandatory has next to nothing to do with the medi guardians place in pvp. Next let’s check how many medi guardians are being run through zergs. Probably next to none.

So please don’t lump the two together. They are two sides of a coin, you either load up on burst/dps or on sustain. You can’t put both into one build like celestial d/d on ele and get both high damage and high sustain. You have to chose between nuke them and bunker down.

And the only real buff medi guard saw was renewed focus cooldown and 2k heal on it. Merciful Intervention is a joke now, it only makes it harder to port to a nearby ally and take your focus away from the fight. And the bug where it heals you twice (three times with monks focus for 6k) is probably fixed so it’s even worst. It’s going to be extremely niche, not worth taking over the other 3 meditations. Who’s going to drop contemplation of purity (stun break/full cleanse to boons) for a skill they can only use in rare situations?

So your nerfing Medi Guards dps also?

1: Most guards already go 20 into that traitline.. so sorry but its doesnt really matter what stats the traitline gives.
Besides even when you say warr have in in there strength traitline i hardly see ANY warrior going deep into that traitline besides pve warriors.

Most bunker guardians trait into the honor line, but they won’t get any type of burst that you’re talking about. Perhaps some medi guardians that work off of symbols/empowering might might run into that trait line but even then their burst won’t be terribly over the top either.

To achieve the burst that made you take to the forums in QQ, was probably a 2/6/6/0/0 build. Maximized for burst, but severely lacks a lot of the sustain a 2/1/6/1/4 build would give.

Who won the Skill Bar Previews?

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Shanks.2907

Shanks.2907

1) guards – the biggest problem for med guards were disengages. guards are slow and a teleport as disengage is a huge buff imo. the elite as meditation is really strong, invul with 2K HP back is quite good
2) rangers – when the community is smart enough to create good builds rangers could see a comeback to tpvp. bunker builds like BM will see a big buff in defensive as SoS is available without power traiting and offensive with might stacking on Axe. 25 stacks might on pet inc.
3) Mesmer – its rarely seen that classes gain a buff and the most are against it. the torment spam is broken and “only 5-6 stacks” like karl said is just…wow pls..karl…come on. Almost 100% uptime sword torment of war was too strong for balancing and they just moved the nerfed torment time to the mesmer to gain the REAL 100% uptime. against a class where movement is important. but the PU nerf was in an intellient way thats okay.

I think you’ve misunderstood the “buff” to merciful intervention. It’s got to be within 180 (i think) of a teammate to work. Hardly anything has changed besides being able to choose who to port to. Even more so, it’s not going to replace any of the other three meditations on your skill bar. You’re still going to keep Smite Condition for damage/low cooldown, still going to choose judge’s intervention to get your burst in and for a gap closer/stun breaker, and you’re still going to take contemplation of purity for full cleanse/stun break.

There is no disengage there. You won’t be able to use it to get in or out of a fight. It’s going to have extremely niche uses.

Renewed Focus buff was nice though. It’s an appreciated 2k heal and 18s off cooldown. That’s about it though. Still no help on mobility or soft CC.

Sigil of Nullification along with Doom could help. You’ll drop your overall dps without an air/fire but will go a long way in countering a d/d celestial ele.

Smart loot system = death to med and heavy!!

Shanks.2907

Just a slight misconception here I wanted to address.

It’s been said, that with these loot changes more people will play on light armor classes and then the price of cloth will go down. But it’s not just as simple as that. You have to take into account the decrease in cloth that those who play heavy/medium classes will suffer.

It’s not going to bump up the supply at all. In all likeliness, prices will remain the same. This will be a result in more people playing light classes and getting more cloth, but with the heavy/medium classes balancing that out. I daresay it’s more probable that the prices will rise because of a lack of supply from heavy/medium classes that the influx of light classes can’t compensate.

I really don’t think anything changes. If MI could ground target anywhere, and not just directly on allies I think it would have a place. But as it is, it’s going to be even more niche. I think it will eventually be changed, and it’s a step in the right direction, but as it is I won’t replace CoP (stun break/full cleanse).

All that really changes with this patch is 2k heal on renewed focus and 18s off it’s cooldown.

Like it’s been mentioned, 25% movement speed isn’t going to get you out of a fight, it’s going to keep you in a fight.

For example, in a profession subforum there could be links and thoughts to several issues said profession faces. This way, we could see what the devs are thinking about our profession, and other professions too, without searching through each thread to find them. It would help show their presence more effectively.

edit: Not sure if this is the overall suggestion though, OP said in each major thread but it sounds more like he’s talking about subforums.

I can see how the lack of swiftness would impact build 1. I’ve always had trouble with medi builds and hammer, simply because the AA is too slow and the symbol doesn’t work well with the build. I’ve always preferred a sw/f & GS or sw/f & sc/t myself.

Though, runes of the traveler will impact your dps a lot. You can get good swiftness uptime on runes of the pack and still retain a good amount of dps (175 power/125 precision and ~50% uptime on fury and swiftness).

On the second build, you might have good luck with writ of persistence or trying out a staff instead of sword.

What I like about your suggestion is that when you apply burning and get 3s of swiftness, that’s only going to improve your combat speed. With such high application/low duration it gives us what we need in a fight, but the second we try and run it drops off. +1 great idea man.

And I think blind causing cripple is a better choice than chill. Can be a lower internal cooldown, and have great synergy with dps builds.

But, keep JI the same and work on MI. I don’t want to have to back track after my burst to reset the cooldown for JI. Though, on MI it would make perfect sense. Especially combined with a ground target (quite similar to shadowstep on thief).

An extra 20% damage on joining a team fight with a SoW>WW>JI could help put 1 or 2 down depending on timing and positioning.

I don’t know how I feel about dropping ~10k healing per minute though just to get that extra burst in. Feels like high risk high reward, but super cheesy too. Relies completely on blinds and blocks for any sort of sustain.
