I’ve been trying to think of dailies that you don’t have to go super out of your way for that you could complete in a play session. Also, ones that don’t take away from the game mode itself (WvW veterans, PvP profession wins).

PvE:
-Travel to 5 unique zones
-Collect and salvage 5 items from mobs
-Defeat 5 unique veterans

WvW:
-Stomp an enemy for a bloodlust stack
-Travel 100k units
-Rally three allies in the down state

PvP:
-Capture a point and defend it for 1 minute
-Decap far point three times in a single match
-Secure two top stats awards in a single match
-Anything to do with side objectives (lord, svanir, skyhammer)

Great suggestions guys! Keep them coming.

Please remember that this thread is for your suggestions about new components for the dailies. They can be serious or humourous, but they should be suggestions and not feedback. If you want to share your feedback or input on the new dailies in a general or specific sense, outside of the suggestions intended for this thread, please post in this thread to share your overall feedback on the dailies

Thanks Gaile for putting the thread on track. I had hoped that there would be both good suggestions and suggestions that made us laugh. I’d love to hear some from you too!

my fav guard right now is meditation cele s/f/ham. tons of damage, tons of sustain with the extra hp, and tons of condi cleansing. burns are plentiful and tick for 450, which is an awesome way to supplement your hammer damage. this is about as close as I would get to running anything condi-based on the guard. leaves zerker meditation builds in the dust. similar damage, much higher sustain.

What kind of build do you use? I’ve tried running something like 0/0/6/4/4 with empowering might/absolute resolution. Battle sigils for more might on swaps and strength runes. Biggest downside being the lack of swiftness, so sometimes I’ll try running it with a hammer/staff.

Meditation builds with strength runes/staff are interesting. I’ve tried it out with a friend before. Each of us had a staff, one with greatsword the other with sw/f. Load up an instant 24 stacks of might and a good amount of swiftness. Works surprisingly well in a team fight, really funny how it renders mesmers useless when staff spamming.

I think any dailies added need to be more involved not more generic crap.

I agree. That was my intent when I made this thread. I think it would be worthwhile if there were a source of community created dailies that were interesting for the devs to use.

And if a fraction of the effort that has gone into simply complaining was used in a more productive manner, I can only see that as a good thing.

Maybe pvp just isn’t for me the whole fighting by face rolling keyboards which everyone seems to do just doesn’t suit it for me.

Don’t give up! It might be overwhelming at first but you will get better. Like oRx said, there are people who are willing to give you a hand to learn the ropes.

You were interested enough in PvP to come to the forums and ask for help. Don’t give up before you’ve even started to enjoy it yourself. It will make it that much more fun when your skill improves and you can be satisfied with how far you’ve come!

I can’t think of many scenarios where a hybrid will outshine a full zerk meditation guardian. Even in most 1v1s I see the advantage going to zerk. A hybrid relies on drawing the fight out to try and out sustain the enemy while a zerk will burst it down quickly. They fundamentally play different. Take thief for example. They melt after being pulled in with greatsword > WW and a few auto attacks. Against any zerker class I would give advantage to the zerk meditation guardian. Beyond that, like a celestial d/d ele, I could see a hybrid having a better shot in a sustained fight.

The biggest problem, besides the lack of conditions and burst, is that they don’t have any sustain beyond what a zerker meditation guardian brings. Literally just a few extra thousand HP from the carrion amulet. They’re still vulnerable to being burst down by zerker classes, especially the one they’re being compared to.

I did make a condition guardian build myself for fun though! I enjoy theory crafting even though I doubt I’ll ever play it or it will ever have a place in pvp.

I don’t really play condition builds or spirit weapons on guardian, so even if I tested this I probably wouldn’t be able to judge it properly. I thought it was interesting enough so I thought I’d share it.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQRApf7dl0ApMo1BxVI8DNh8QlZdsiWWCtQ1TQA0oA-TZBHwAW2fAwDAQwBBIZZgAnBAATJRHwAV2fIwDBAZZAAnBAA

It utilizes every trait point available. Going deep into zeal for amplified wrath opens up the adept and master spirit weapon traits. Same goes for virtues with supreme justice and adept spirit weapon. The burning output of every third strike for 2.5s seems like it’s enough pressure any class, along with doom/geomancy sigils.

Now, I’m a shelter guy myself and never use SoR. I thought in this build it fit though with access to signet mastery under radiant fire and the lack of MF/AH. Don’t butcher me over it as it’s just a whim.

As for the spirit weapons, they’re there just for sustain. Keep in mind, I don’t use spirit weapons so I really couldn’t say whether they make a positive impact or not. They do take advantage of the traits available though, main traits being amplified wrath and supreme justice. The weakness from the shield is a bonus.

To help with sustain, mace is chosen over sword. To take advantage of the power from the carrion amulet, an intelligence sigil is used to proc a crit on heavy hitting skills. Something like SoW > swap > Zealot’s Fire/Flame > Protector’s Strike to make full use of it. Sacrifice a geomancy sigil but I think it would pay off.

Third utility slot is a tossup. I plugged SYG in because the stability/retal is always nice. It could just as easily be swapped out for CoP for a full cleanse/stun break or signet of judgement for more weakness/stun break. I think it’s important though for it to be a stun breaker though for when spirit shield is down, but like I said it’s a tossup.

Would be interesting if anyone familiar with burning/spirit weapon guardians wanted to test it. I had fun theory crafting it but it’s just not my play style. Not to mention I’ve completely avoided pvp since the patch.

edit: Ah. Balthazar runes could be considered overkill, so traveler runes can be swapped in to compensate for zero swiftness. Still maintains a 2s burn on every three attacks so it’s not too much of a loss.

——————————————————————————-

I would liken this topic to a game, or maybe a brainstorm. I’m not looking for a yes or no, or someone to agree with my suggestions. Rather, a new set of suggestions to add to the list. With a little creativity, we might see more variety in the future. Now, I’m holding you all to a high standard. The bar has been set with “Visit a Vista”, so I have great expectations.

Examples

PvE: Dodge 10 unique attacks in PvE
WvW: Share N boons with allies in WvW
PvP: Interrupt 10 enemy attacks in PvP

Well this is not classic mmo system where you stay on place and watching spells folowing targets. You must adapt on our combat system

My first mmo haha.

Thank you everyone for the help so far! Looks like I have to get to level 80 first overall.
P.S. I’m a GS, Axe/Shield Warrior.

You don’t have to level to 80 before playing pvp but it does help you to learn your class mechanics a bit. While greatsword might work well in pve, i suggest learning to use the longbow in pvp. The bulk of damage on greatsword requires a good deal of effort to set up as it requires your target to stand still. Longbow is very well rounded and axe can deal some good damage.

Here’s a build I put together for you, it should help get your feet in the door.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNAneTjMdUFaXImhwJagqgCdFEANwprWdPcE5AA-TpBFABCcIAc4EAUy+DRXGYhHAAAHBAA

It’s not a meta build or anything, but I think it’s good for someone learning the ropes. It has sustain and dps so you should do pretty good. Here’s a few pointers that might help.

  • Each bar of adrenalin spent (burst) cleanses 1 condition with cleansing ire
  • Shield 4 (shield bash) stuns the foe and can be used to set up eviscerate (F1 axe burst)
  • Use your elite signet (signet of rage) at the start of a fight for 30s of swiftness, fury and 5 stacks of might
  • Use longbow burst (combustive shot) to create a fire field and longbow 3 (arcing arrow) to blast it for 3 stacks of might
  • NEVER use your healing skill. Healing signet heals for more passively.
  • The three stances (utilities) each give you 1) condition immunity 2) damage immunity 3) crowd control immunity
  • Other worthwhile utilities are dolyak signet, signet of stamina
  • I like the knight’s amulet stat spread, others might prefer celestial or soldier
  • Swap weapons as often as possible. You’ll gain adrenalin, might and proc your on swap sigils sooner.

Hope this gives you a bit of insight of things you can do with your class. Every game you play will build more experience and you will get better as you go. Don’t be afraid to die or even lose, it’s a learning experience. Try and stay on point (either your home node or middle node) and fight with your team.

I find every default bind lacking, so I built this from scratch. It took a week or two to get used to it where I could execute combos on multiple classes, but now that I’m accustomed to it I will never look back.

S left strafe, D right strafe, Mouse 4 and 5 are forward and backwards
F E R G V for attack skills (respectively)
B N and M for utilities (thumb)
Profession skills Cntl + (F R G V)
W heal, Q elite, T swap, A dodge, Z jump, C interact, ~ stow and space auto loot. (space is set to auto loot so it won’t interrupt my utility skills if accidentally pressed by my thumb)

I’ve also added a few rubber and raised mechanical keys to my keyboard to give it some structure.

The point is that shield block has too many counters. We only have one block on a 30 sec cd,it’s not like we can spamm our blocks like guards can.3 sec stabi is something that would greatly improve the effectiveness of shield block.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Unblockable

Ah, just wondering here. Which skills on guardian are spam blocks? The only duration block is on shelter. Besides aegis from VoC, which can hardly be considered “spam block”, where are all these blocks coming from? This misinformation has spread so far. Warriors also have mace 2 and sword 4 blocks that duration block range attacks while guardian mace 3 is only a single block.

Besides, stability on a weapon skill is just a bad idea. You can swap weapons to cancel after gaining stab to rez/stomp.

Giant ZAPS BOOMS explosions covering your screen.

Once you learn what each specific skill is you’ll better understand what each attack does and when they need to be dodged. Not all skills are equal, some are stuns or heavy damage.

It comes with experience.

stealth interfering with your nearest target locator

Thieves and Mesmers are probably going to give you the toughest time. They will stealth, so it’s best to expect it. Thieves will try to backstab you and mesmers will try to reposition to blend in with their clones. Again, experience will help judge your situations.

Stealth drops target though, so you’ll have to target them again when they come back.

abilities going in the wrong direction.

Try turning off auto target in your options menu. In PvP you always want to manually select your target.

How do I pvp?

P.S. This isn’t a troll thread I’m level 26 and I really want to try this out but I just get deleted.

When you get to PvP, make sure you play “practice” games. This will help position you in an environment where you can learn how to play it. Really, experience is what will help you the most. Learning the skills of all the classes is a huge plus. A solid build will help you a lot too.

What class are you playing? It helps to have a good balance of offense and defense. You need stun breakers and condition removal if you want to sustain a fight. A bunker class might be more suitable for you instead of a high dps one.

If pvp is something you really want to get into, bear with the learning curve! You will exponentially get better as you gain experience. Each death is a learning experience that pushes you to get better.

I still can’t understand what they call “rewarding”. I’ve got over 6 thousand hour played, all eight classes maxed leveled and geared, I’m throwing fractal jewel because they just pile up in my bags. Do i need experience? No. Do i need fractal relic? Hell No! Do I need wvw crest? I’ve got over 30 000 of them, I think it’s plenty enough. At this state, I’ve done almost everything I could do despite my terrible drop rate which is terrible even with my 260% base Magic find.
Before, dailies were a kind of redline to follow that was giving me the will to play almost all content everyday. Now, Like today, there are even day when i don’t even wanna do my daily.

You know, this is how I see the dailies at this moment. They’ve had the base reward (laurels) moved to the daily log in and have been gutted of content. While I do think it’s a good thing to have laurels in a system that doesn’t force you to grind out a daily on days you don’t want to play, the dailies did give good structure to those who want it.

I’m a little surprised how many people actually base their game play on the dailies, and genuinely enjoy them. I think at this point, dailies should reflect actual game play goals instead of a content treadmill. If they’re going to have any place left in the game, it might as well be one that players want to do rather than something that is well enough ignored.

Perhaps a 4th section should be added. Alongside with PvE, PvP and WvW there could be one with fight centered dailies. It would also supplement each game mode so you can finish your daily in one if you only play one mode.

Another weakness of the condi survival meta build is that it’s really slow to get around the map with, since it has no access swiftness, no perma 25% signet or runes, and carries no weapons with movement abilities, such as sword and greatsword.

That’s one reason I like using traveler runes and sword. It’s okay to rely on fast hand for combat speed but it doesn’t help out of combat. Nature’s Voice and Guard work well for a swiftness/regen combo but the tradeoff is less condition removal and the loss of a utility skill.

I don’t really like the meta myself. Shortbow could use some work, and you can get plenty of bleed stacks from sw/t a/d. I prefer Keen Edge over Sharpened Edges too, works well with SotF.

Using shield while leveling?

in Warrior

Posted by: Shanks.2907

Shanks.2907

For pure leveling in open world PvE, I would recommend sword/warhorn + greatsword.

Savage Leap, Whirlwind Attack, Rush and Charge (swiftness) for maximum mobility. The idea is to move to the next spot quickly to gain more xp. You can always swap to axe/shield if there’s a heart or event that needs more to complete. Nothing says you have to use the same weapon set all the time in PvE. Rather, you should get use to swapping to different sets when the situation arises.

Ah, and once you get an elite, signet of rage will cover charge’s 5s downtime on swiftness.

Dittos on that! No Laurels on the regular Dallies, I could see this coming long ago with Anet shoving PVP down our throats. Now I see this huge prize being offered, how can the average player who might like PVP even compete for it, the winners are always the guys who practice 10-18 hours a day, evidently they don’t have a job or school . What Anet should do is like they promised in the beginning is pony up the Guild Halls, give us back our Capes, expand the PVE, open maps. After over 3800 hours of play and 8 level 80 toons I played my first PVP today, immediately got clobbered by 4 players, so much for that crap. WvW isn’t bad as long as you have a leader who knows what he’s doing, otherwise forget it. Right now I feel GW2 just plain sucks!

Ahhh…I remember you from GW1, polish up a few things and add an expansion to GW1 and I’d be back there in a heartbeat, loved that game. Can’t help but feel there are some inter-office politics going on in GW2 with PVP being crammed at us little by little, especially when you see that drip telling us what marvelous things they’re doing for us in WvW and PvP all the time, the Wintersday thing SUCKS! The best thing you guys did was give us Scarlet, now that was exciting and fun. Hurry up and get LA repaired, many of us miss that old haunt. Too bad there isn’t some qualification required for Commanders in WvW as far as competency, whats bad is you get some clown that tags up with no strategy in mind, as soon as we get bombed by a zerg he disappears.

There must have been personell changes at Anet, who was the BRAINIAC that dreamed up this new Daley Crap??? I tried you Wintersday Horsecrap and it SUCKS, I’d rather be playing Asteroids! Forcing PVP down PVE Players throats is a CROCK too, take your 50G prize and shove it, who’s gonna camp out for 8-16 hours a day to compete with the professionals, certainly not the people like myself who have supported this game as I have spent HUNDREDS here on your JEWELS! AGE=3595HOURS 848DAYS! Your screwing up GW2 just like you screwed up Aion!
Anyone tried the new WOW yet, is it still full of cheesy 8bit toons?

I think this would be a great addition to the ranger. The only reliable blast is on warhorn which has more synergy in power builds and is on a 35s cooldown. In no way would I find it game breaking because of the lack of blasts. You can’t count on pet blasts for kitten as they aren’t on the commands but on the attack rotation. The AI isn’t smart enough to think “my master is low on hp let me blast this water field”.

I’d be okay with adding a blast to lightning reflexes too with it’s crack of lightning. But something like that might be OP.

That would make the most sense to me. I didn’t even use it back when I used d/d, not even for the evade. More vuln and maybe a blind would work well.

Why don’t they just swap death blossom on d/d with unload on p/p. You can throw daggers super quick for raw damage, and can spin over the target shooting to bleed them out with pistols.

“Top equipment” would be ascended gear which can only be obtained by crafting it for yourself. So, no, it never had the ability to get the top equipment by playing how you want.

Or doing world events.
Or doing Fractals.
Or doing WvW.

So basically doing most things in the game (except PvP, where it doesn’t even matter).

EDIT: Oh, apparently you can actually ALSO get them from PvP. So apparently you can get them for doing a grand total of everything in the game.

How do world events get you ascended armor and weapons?
I don’t do fractals. I knew they were good for ascended trinkets but are they good for getting weapons and armor?
I do mostly WvW and you can only get trinkets not weapons and armor so that’s wrong.

I’ve gotten a few ascended drops from world bosses. I’ve heard of people getting ascended drops in wvw too but I don’t play a ton of it myself.

I just wanted to let you know I’m going to try to gather this feedback and write up a report about what is being said on the new daily system. There are a lot of different opinions being stated, and in some cases they may be directly opposite one another. However, I’ll do my best to amass all the thoughts you’ve shared and pass them along to design leads to give them a solid point of reference on this subject.

The daily log in reward system is great how it is. It rewards people for being invested enough in the game to at least log in, while not requiring a 15 minute grind on days you don’t feel like playing just to get a laurel.

However, the daily achievements themselves seem to be overly specific and just not well thought out. Things like requiring a certain world boss, fractals and other things just don’t work when there are so few options. Things like daily dodger, reviver, interrupter, puzzle jumper, gatherer and such that can be done where the player wants would work much better.

I think for the most part the system is in a good place.

I don’t think you read my whole post, I was saying specifically because I don’t play every day that the other system worked better?

If I did decide to login on any given day I could always complete my daily for a laurel ,now there are cases where I have to wait up to 7 days to gain another. Similarly I could technically just login and do the monthly in a day getting 10 laurels each month for one day now there is an extended barrier on my ability to do so.

Regardless of how you use to gain your 10 laurels, all you have to do now is literally log in for 2 seconds and close the game once a day. Even if you don’t feel like playing, you’re no longer forced to grind out the daily. This system was made for people like you and me. You can get 55 laurels a month just by logging in, 5x more than you ever got before in less time it took you to do the monthly.

And if you can’t spend 2 seconds logging in but have the time to spend on the forums complaining about this, I don’t think laurels don’t mean much to you.

I don’t like that though. It’s just so lazy and reeks of ANet bribing players into logging in to boost their “metrics”. I don’t want to be rewarded for literally doing nothing. There needs to be some sense of accomplishment.

People are already complaining about this game being easy mode. Giving players the old daily rewards, and now exotics and other incentives, simply for logging into the game feels incredibly cheap and reinforces that sentiment.

I can understand where you’re coming from, but getting a sense of accomplishment from completing your daily is a bit exaggerated. It’s a currency locked behind a time gated mechanic used to get people to log into the game every day. I appreciate that I don’t have to grind it out anymore on days I don’t feel like playing.

I love my condi ranger.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQRAsY3fjMq0yaHL2sQ1aABhaVA0uGu3u29QcDf9JrIVsA-TJhHwAPLDI4kAge/BAPBAA

  • Settler’s amulet for high toughness and healing
  • Sw/D A/T for bleed stacks, poison, burning and chill
  • 2 immobilizes with muddy terrain and entange, high cripple uptime
  • Oakheart Salve, Rejuvanation and Healing Spring cover for perma regen
  • Survival of the Fittest and Healing Spring for condi removal, Empathetic Bond can be used too for even more removal if needed
  • Keen Edge works well with survival traits (cooldown and SotF)
  • Traveler runes have movement speed and a bit of boon/condi duration
  • Geomancy and Hydromancy sigils for on swap conditions
  • Lynx for more bleeds, Wolf for fear

Ranger is one of the better classes for condition play imo. Well rounded for both output and sustain if built good.

There’s been a lot of threads like these and the shortcomings/counters of the meditation guardian have been discussed at length. Complaining about a mechanic and asking for nerfs won’t help OP learn how to play against a meditation guardian. Considering he’s complaining about how a meditation guardian shouldn’t play his time would of been better spent playing one himself.

I’d consider replacing leaching with hydromancy. The chill helps put a little extra distance between you while retreating.

@Shanks.2907, Your build is very high burst that’s for sure. QZ + Wild + RoA into Rapid fire would almost kill any target. All I can say is if anyone looks at you your dead, price of running full dps build.

That’s how it’s most effective for the team, imo. If positioned well enough you can put a ton of pressure on point, and it takes an investment of time for them to go after you. Generally a lightning reflexes > hunter’s shot > hornet’s sting combo will get you out of any situation well enough. But you certainly are a sitting kitten if you get caught. :p

Most of the time it’s just swinging fights in my team’s favor and not really any direct confrontations. The damage multipliers rely on me being on the outside looking in (full endurance, +90% hp and flanking) to make the most impact.

I don’t feel like playing this game every day, but I’d at least log in and do my daily to get the laurel. I don’t really care about the AP either, so now all I have to do is log in to get what use to take me 15 minutes.

I leveled two alts (warrior/thief) by doing that though and got hundreds of laurels so it can’t be considered a waste. I would of kept doing it, but in regards to the daily log in rewards I think it’s a good direction. The specific daily achievements on the other hand are something I won’t feel the need to do anymore.

This ^ and I’d kill for my guardian to have shield skills this useful that actually block & reflect.

I am OK with them just swapping shield skills if engies aren’t happy with it.

The thing is though, the entire point of dailies is to incentivize players to participate in different content.

Just wanted to point out that this is wrong. The “entire” point of dailies is to have the player log in every day to earn a time gated currency (laurels). It creates a minimum investment to the game, and the metrics are tracked to show total player investment to the developers.

Need help picking a Condi Perma Regen Build

Interesting choice on the lynx and I appreciate the suggestions.

What gear would you use for WvW?

Apothecary is the equivelent of settler’s amulet. Toughness, condition damage and healing power. The sustain gained outweighs the small loss of condition damage, imo.

My only real concern is a lack of constant run speed. There are just too many good utilities for the ranger. I guess I could always swap them in and out depending on my needs. —OR swap them pre-fight.

Traveler runes work really well for movement speed so you don’t need to drop any utilities. Even gives a bit of +condition duration that works on all of your conditions unlike krait runes which focus on bleeding only, and boon duration to increase your regen uptime.

Power ranger (LB) has a niche role imo. I’m of the position that if you’re engaged close range on point you’re doing something wrong. What I do when I play one is rotate points taking advantage of my range to burst down someone in a team fight who is unsuspecting of a RF to the back.

Now, not all maps are ideal for the playstyle. I think the one that takes advantage of it the most would be Legacy of Foefire. You can switch between mid and home/far very quickly between RFs. Somewhere like Temple on the other hand won’t be as effective with this strategy.

I’ve played around with all in builds and well rounded builds, and the all in builds have seemed to be more effective for the team. Taking traits away from Marksmanship or Skirmishing takes a lot away from the burst capability, and without that why are you even using a power ranger?

It’s hard to steal a shatter mesmer’s role though with the boon strip and utility they offer. Power ranger may be a one trick pony, but they can shape a fight if positioned and built well.

Guardian non-meta pvp build

Ah, you might like this one more if you want to move away from bunker but still hold sustain while doing damage.

Takes the dps of a meditation build and mixes it with a soldier’s amulet. Between fury and Right Hand Strength, you can get to a 60% crit chance. High uptime for fury between focused mind trait and pack runes. You lose 30% crit chance and 30% crit damage by taking the soldier amulet, but you gain a ton of sustain.

I’ve got a bunker build that relies on symbols you might enjoy if you’re looking to get away from the meta bunker.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQNAS5dlsApZo9CxVI8DNRCBl5M+P2jYFt4yA0AA-TJBHwALLDA4JAoa/hBXEAA

The sustain that the cleric’s amulet offers outweighs the 6.5k hp that the soldier’s amulet would offer. Selfless daring scales really well with healing power, reaching 870hp on this variation and can go above 1k with dwayna runes and sigil of life stacks. Healing per pulse on symbols hits 225hp and can go upwards of 260 with maxed out healing power. VoR is pumping out 200+ hp/s alongside the symbols and regen.

Runes of Melandru work well as there isn’t a ton of condition removal. Wall of Reflection was put in, but really it’s open to whatever works best. CoP can be put in for more condition removal, hallowed ground for group stab, I’ve even had good luck with sanctuary despite it’s long cooldown. Spirit Bow could even be put in for more removal plus a 5.6k heal (2 if you trait for longer lasting spirit weapons).

Sigil of Intelligence offers some damage on skills like mighty blow, protector’s strike and shield of wrath. Protector’s strike covers SoW so you can put them both up at the same time. Not enough damage to roam or anything but you’re not useless in a team fight. Energy sigils for more dodges to help sustain your healing.

Some traits can be swapped around if you wanted. AH can be taken in place of Writ of Persistence to gain some more healing (albeit selfish). I’d swap staff in for hammer if using AH for the empower heal. Even Battle Presence can be taken over WoP for more team healing if that’s what you’re going for.

Mobility is zero though, so you might want to take staff over hammer anyways for SoS. I’d replace intelligence sigil with something else if you do, maybe life or something.

Why condi guard supercedes med zerks.

I can definitely dish out more damage with a burning/med build than I can running beserker med 6/x/6/x/x. Biggest difference is this; it is really hard for players to keep burning off them but it is pretty easy to dodge WW or sword 3. On paper beserker should do better but in practice the burning is much better.

My big problem is I cant decide whether I like Flame Legion or Balthazar runes.

Well your problem when running berserker meditation builds is that you’re running 6/x/6/x/x and relying on sword #3 for burst. Zeal has no business in a meditation build beyond fiery wrath if you aren’t hybrid. The sword auto attack does more dps than sword #3, so there’s no reason to use a skill that roots you and leaves you vulnerable besides to destroy projectiles.

Try running a 2/6/6/0/0 build for the max sword dps with fire/air sigils.

New lvl 80 guardian need help with pve build

Wow, every post in this thread so far is really pulling out the soapbox and preaching. Let me offer a more objective approach and provide an explanation which might enlighten you why these threads become battlefields.

A clear explanation is the best advice you can give someone new rather than a link to a build and bickering about the meta. It isn’t going to mean much to someone out of context when they just hit 80. And like you mentioned later in your post, depending on their skill level their needs might be different.

That’s why I just link to Obal’s guide instead of joining the war. Much more clear than I can explain and goes over everything. Traits, weapons and gear are all looked at along with why tactics are used. I’m surprised more people don’t find it before making a thread, it is sticky’d at the top of the guardian forums.

[tPvP] Optimized SotF Condition

Your reasoning sounds a lot like what I put into my build, and looks quite similar. Though I’m personally not a fan of shortbow and use s/d a/t setup. The mobility sword offers is really handy. Lightning Reflexes + Hornet Sting gets you out of a fight quickly.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQRAsY3fjMq0yaHL2sQ1aABhaVA0uGu3u29QcDf9JrIVsA-TJhHwAPLDI4kAge/BAPBAA

I’ve been having good luck with the settler’s amulet. The sustain gained seems to outweigh the damage that the power/precision of carrion/rabid would give. 18500 hp with 3300 armor is more than enough with the amount of condition removal I have.

I took healing spring over troll unguent in this particular build for a few reasons. It scales much better with the healing power/regen +duration, works well for team fights and it removes conditions. Along with a water field to leap through with sword. If I wasn’t so heavily invested in healing power and regen +duration I’d probably take TU.

I really like the condition ranger though. Plenty of room for small tweaks that fit how you want to play. Your build looks solid and well rounded.
