Having said that, it would be nice to get a chance to acquaint ourselves with Eredon Terrace at some point this week (tea and biscuits are always waiting for you guys and we don’t want to seem unwelcome hosts, but… we would like to get to know the other guys too). kind of hard to do when every hour or so we get drop in visits from sorrows furnace wanting to play. Think maybe ET might feel like the shiny new guy’s getting all the attention and might not like us.

Hey ET, hows about we schedule a play date for some time this week in SFBL? You take the left side, we take the right side and we can play tag down the middle (preferably in sf garri)?

On this note, I also propose a fight club this thursday for all 3 servers. SF BL, south camp, windmill. /bow to duel, no stomps. I actually don’t work at night this time so I’ll be able to make it. Someone should come up with a good time, sometime in the later evening sounds acceptable.

Today was the first time I’ve had a chance to go out & roam for a decent while. Hope the people that ran into me had a fun time, I’m the black & gold asuran engineer with the tiger finisher. Was mostly in ET/SF BL.

Had a few decent fights, but for the most part it was either running into 1-2 every once in a great while or a zerg. Was hoping the lower tiers had more roaming, but I guess it’s just less overall players. Everyone should start roaming more, at this low of a tier (and with the current matchup victor basically decided), you might as well! You can only get better as a player.

i think ET/AR/FC might be a VERY interesting match if it ever rolls around. i’m hoping to see that one now. possibly more closely matched than most of the other matches we’ve had.

Second one was 7 on a Friday. First one in the morning, it shows the time in the map. I even took it after giving everyone time to load in. I agree, FC/ET/AR would be a decent matchup.

Any guild tags I should be looking for in particular? This is our first time fighting IoJ, so I’d like to see what kind of fights and tactics you have to offer.

Yeah, that was lovely. Was mostly our fault for fighting in the road instead of the windmill though, not really sure why they had it started there.

Only took one of me to beat him. It was a fun fight. Now the Charr engin from TWIN is really tough. On his normal setup, we had a fast fight (our first) where I dropped fast and a second where I had to really work. That second fight lasted at least 10-15 minutes and I finally got him. I’m looking forward to more such encounters.

I still never feel bad for losing to a bunker mes =P

Also Moose, good post, but I highly doubt 95% of the population will change the way they’re already playing. GoM has way too many people, and IoJ has a pretty large population. When they’ve got that many on the map, they probably don’t see a reason to not zerg.

But hey, here’s hoping.

Yeah, it’s very sad. I guess I just don’t see the point =(, what do they need the WvW exp for? Not one of those skill points is even remotely beneficial when you have such large numbers.

I just wish more people felt the way we do about WvW, that it should be about the actual fight. Not golem rushing and trying to tag enemies for loot.

Hopefully those who do agree with us will at least make an attempt this week and try to pass along the message.

Something about e-kitten and thinking that winning an extremely low-end tier matchup matters.

Honestly, fact of the matter is, the vast majority of the players in WvW (mostly the pugs, but a lot of others, too) are just bad at the PvP side of the game. They can do ok when they attack a monster standing still, but can’t compete when that monster starts dodging & hitting back. Because of this, I think they see their only options to be either A: Get killed or B: Find a big group of people, hopefully they don’t kill me first. It doesn’t really help our cause that AR players are some of the best single/small group fighters. I’m sure the uplevels that I kill without letting them hit me once get pretty disheartened.

Regardless, people should see WvW as an opportunity to better themselves. Doesn’t matter what anyone thinks, following around a blue dot & spamming 1 will not make you a better player. When you fight players on a small scale, you can actually see what they’re doing. Even if you lose, if you pay attention, you can see why you lost. “Oh, that guy did this, maybe next time I’ll try doing that.” That’s how you become a better player.

Moral of the paragraphs, stop zerging, start roaming, duel more often. Do you always die to a necro? Find a decent one, ask him to duel you. Chances are they’ll duel you as many times as you want, and believe me, you will get better at fighting them the next time you run across one. You probably don’t die to awesome engineers very often, but if you do, PM me & ask for a duel. Win or lose, we both become better players in the end.

Things that should be known by all players in WvW, especially when they are playing Anvil Rock:

/Bow = Duel. Bow back to begin. 1v1, no stomps.
/Threaten = Duel. Start any time. 1v1, to the death.

I personally don’t care if we’re T1 or T8, as long as the matchups are good and the fights are fun/challenging.

I don’t think that’s an option for Gates. You will either get into a matchup where the numbers are close and get destroyed or have an overwhelming population against your opponents. We have faced higher ranked servers, and I’m telling you, your overall WvW presence is much higher than over half of them. I’m not saying everyone on the server is terrible, but a huge percentage are. This is why you are stuck in the lower tiers. A-net is doing your server a favor.

AR is dropping tiers because a lot of us don’t play WvW to play WvW. We play WvW to kill people. This is where the skill part comes in. The guild we lost, ALS, left because the people in our server don’t like attacking & defending doors. So when they left, we lost a giant chunk of the players that played for towers/keeps/etc.

If I wasnt in the middle of typing when you guys decided to try and rush me and I hit the stealth trap moving away from you I probably wouldnt have died, but alas! You always die when you sit inside a tower, the fun is seeing how many you can take with you. Good effort on your guys part though, I only killed 3 of you.

At any rate, i wanted to see, if Engineers are truly that melee and mid ranged class, and they are…and that got me terribly dissapointed. I am surely not rolling one if the game style is like this.

Like I said on there, if you put it up to 1080p I’m not sure what’s going on. I play on max settings and my recording software isn’t set to low, so it’s mostly on youtube’s end. Shouldn’t be that bad on 1080, though.

As for the gameplay, not all engineers play like me. In fact I’m sure most don’t. As I’ve mentioned before, my first 1,000 games in tPvP were 100% warrior. Because of this, I have an aggressive ‘in your face’ playstyle that I carried over to the engi.

Altruism:

1): +25 Healing Power
(2): Give 3 stacks of Might to nearby allies when using a healing skill. (Cooldown: 10s)
(3): +50 Healing Power
(4): +15% Boon Duration

Water:

(1): +25 Healing Power
(2): +15% Boon Duration

30% boon duration. Apposed to:

Water:

(1): +25 Healing Power
(2): +15% Boon Duration

Major water:

(1): +15 Healing Power
(2): +10% Boon Duration

Fire:

(1): +25 Power
(2): +20% Might duration

25% boon duration, and if it scales how I assume it does, 45% might duration.

If I ran superior monk instead of fire, I’d have 40% for all boons, which would still be better than running 4 altruism. The healing power that I get from the runes isn’t a major part of the build, it’s just a small side-effect that probably helps a little bit.
