Loosing a winning streak because of THIS makes me quit the game.
Professional/Daily achievements farmer + premades.
GG Anet. You won.
You detest premades…..because you lose to them? You mean you have to go against teams while playing in ranked structured pvp?
Anet, you bullies.
freaking math so hard for people… not everyone are asian u know :P
Type it into google >_>
(Wins / Games played) * 100
Take it away from ranked? lol, it was always the 3rd game played in free & paid tournaments back in the day. Not like it’s some random hotjoin map.
Also, if there’s only 3 of them capping points, you should be beating them in teamfights. They can only treb 1 point at a time. Keeping 2 at treb is just silly & an easy way to lose. Unless they’re playing against you, apparently.
Sounds for me lile a mini world vs world?
But i like the idea – specially if only one can win – and sure it would become a 2 vs 1 – but betrayal qould be extremly common – that makes it interesting
Like WvW except no 1-sided winning due to numbers, since all sides would have 3.
Having the same problem. Happened twice in a row. Will try moving my shared bag back up top.
Edit:
Doesn’t happen when moved back up top.
The anime ended because they ran out of manga content, made me sad.
Interesting idea. However, because the maps would be MUCH smaller in GW2 than they are in the show, it would be a much more obvious team up and would quickly turn into a 2v1. People would probably agree beforehand. You’d have to implement like, no PMing or map chat before game, and somehow have a big enough map to spawn everyone apart from each other.
what? anime ended? ran out of manga content?
but in mangafox the manga is still ongoing ooo !
World Trigger 148 Mikumo Osamu 15 new ~ June 24, 2016anyway, yeah, the few sPvP maps are very small.
but, if we can use the PvE maps, i think it may work ?most PvE maps are considered quite big if there are only 9 players in it.
i think even the 5 cities map would be good enough!
yeah, perhaps we can use the 5 cities map ?
Well on CR there’s only 73. At the end of the 73rd they say they’re taking a break and people were commenting that it was bc manga ran out of content. So idk.
Also, PvE maps would be WAY too big and just annoying, but a smaller version of a city map would be interesting. For the sake of laziness, you could just make parts of say, Lions Arch, inaccessible to all. Maybe, to help cope with larger map, add a few sentries that “mark” targets like in WvW.

Bump for missing GvG.
inb4 we get the idiots saying “omg bring gvg to gw2 asap.” Different game, different balance fellas.
This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. Just open them & move on with your life.
Um Legendary weapons require grind.
It is known.
Now please move on.
The problem isn’t the grind. The problem is being forced to do the grind AGAIN.
Season is about over, made it to diamond, no longer looking.

Get a build and join a zerg and have fun! Wvw is the most fun part of the game.
That’s crap. I already posted in the other thread, but like I said there, I’ve earned over 1,500 badges YEARS ago, almost EXCLUSIVELY from playing solo. Following a blue dot and hitting 1 may be fun to you, but a lot of us don’t feel the same way. Playing solo, it would take a hell of a long time to get something I feel I am entitled to. The only reason I didn’t already buy the gift was because it would be a waste of inventory space. Now, just because of that, I have to go back and redo everything?
No. That’s crap.
Sounds like even more crap. And after posting the same crap in multiple threads it’s still crap.
You got 1500 Badges years ago? So after that it took you years to be able to think about your legendary? And all those years of pressing 1 while running in a Zerg in silverwastes/hots-maps … must have been a lot of fun, no?! Reward tracks are a looooot faster than the PvE-crap you’ve got to do for a legendary.
Besides that, those Badges where always a joke. Useless for WvW (why bother for the gift of battle whitout a way to get the other stuff in a sane time in wvw; you can’t even sell that crap gift; there once was (or still is) even armor that can’t be salvaged, lol), much to easy to get (there was (or still is) even a time where you got free badges from level-up/achievement-points chest … lol, without even being once in wvw you got everything for that gift. ridiculous) and now finally gone. Sadly the new badges sound like a joke too.
Best solution would be to make that gift tradeable, so wvw-players could finally get some money in wvw. And as it seems, people like Shanks R Us are having a great time farming gold for years on some pve-map. Win-Win then?
So after that it took you years to be able to think about your legendary?
Yes, it did. Up until a few weeks ago, I exclusively played PvP & WvW. I never liked PvE.
And all those years of pressing 1 while running in a Zerg in silverwastes/hots-maps … must have been a lot of fun, no?! Reward tracks are a looooot faster than the PvE-crap you’ve got to do for a legendary.
I never did PvE. Up until a few weeks ago, the highest map completion character I had was 39%, which was the first character I ever made. By the way, I started playing in beta, had 2 day head start. I’ve quit a few times, obviously, but have played on/off.

I got all the badges before you could get them from achievement chests. Again, almost exclusively roaming solo.
And as it seems, people like Shanks R Us are having a great time farming gold for years on some pve-map.
Don’t take me to be just another PvE scrub QQing. The reason I’m kittened is because I’m NOT one. I’ve always been strictly PvP, the gift of battle is the only thing I could ever easily get. And now that I finally want to start trying PvE, all my PvP rewards are taken away.
Here’s a pic. http://puu.sh/puapJ/ff885e8b98.jpg
(Most of my games came a long time before they started tracking arena games. Used to be they just clumped them all together. Almost all the games played were free/paid tournaments.)
Tho I play wvw rarely I ammased like 4k badges which I feel are worthless now since there is nothing I’d want from it.
You don’t want gold? They can be converted to siege and either sold or upgraded to superiors and sold for even more.
The whole point is that doing this essentially robs those of us who used to play WvW avidly but no longer do so. I’m rank 141 in WvW, but that means NOTHING as far as anet is concerned when it comes to getting a legendary.
Get a build and join a zerg and have fun! Wvw is the most fun part of the game.

No. That’s crap.
Gw2 is not a solo game. If you want to play alone it is not your game
I play PvP with a team of 5. I can choose to play WvW alone or with 1-2 friends. Why should I be forced to play the game the way you do, when I consider it to be boring? WvW is only as fun as PvP because you can use skill to win. If you force me to zerg alongside you, it takes that away. Whoop dee doo, your blob can press 1 more times than the other blob.

Agreed at least put the vendors back for a limited time. I’m sitting on tons of badges and have been working on other things like world completion for my legendary. Now I suddenly have to go back to grinding a WvW reward track for a part that I had already completed.
I love WvW and spend most of my time there, so it won’t take long but having this as an unannounced change sucks. Let those of us with the badges buy the gift for another week or 2 then remove the vendors.
100% same boat. Extremely irritating that because I decided to wait on purchasing the gift due to not wanting to waste inventory space that I get royally kittened over. I have well over 1,500 badges that I earned YEARS ago that are now even MORE useless than they were before.

Between now and when I posted this last year, I’ve stopped playing the game. On a whim, I decided to load it back up yesterday, and messed around in PvP for a while. Same computer, but I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10. During the upgrade, my graphics card settings must have reset. I experienced a black screen crash within 20 minutes. I looked this post up, re-did my changes, and have been 100% since. Unfortunate that this problem still exists, but for those out there who have the same issue (same graphics card, basically) – fear not, the fix still works.

lowering GPU Mhz to fix blackscreen ?? not a fix …lol worst advice ever .. it’s a symptom for a bigger problem.
Your GPU is crashing causing the black screen … The cause can be anything
1- Bad GPU , can’t sustain stock speed specified in the video card BIOS .. yeah it happen. bad yield on the wafer but the manufacturer decide to use it anyway .. for example Powercolor Video card will die / defective in the first or two years of use .. just bad components …cheap stuff. or Cheap Mobo … compatibility problem , Bad BIOS.
2- Bad or poor unreliable Power supply , Vid card ain’t getting enough juice or too much of it
3- Overheating causing the video card to crash , any components on a vid card can cause crashes , VRM , memory chip , electric leaks .. etc etc ..
lowering your video card speed is NOT a fix/Solution .. search elsewhere.
Spent over $1k building my own gaming desktop, it’s not a cheap card, thanks.
Power supply is fine for card.
Overheating isn’t an issue.
If you don’t have the problem, you wouldn’t understand. Literally nothing else works.

has black screen
has AMD card
didn’t have ccc open at the time of black screen crashes, opened it and had clock set to 775, lowered it
my ccc is different to what was pictured though, thanks for bumping this thread though.
Time to test!
I thought blackscreen was something to do with getting disconnected from Arenanets servers.
TEST FAILED Lowered to 750, was fine and dandy, got past the asura tutorial on my new ranger (a place I black screened on), but got blackscreen by the rata sum leatherwork station.
Gonna try now with overdrive disabled (not hopeful, seeing as ccc was closed during the previous blackscreens so I would assume it wouldn’t have been activated?)
And still got blackscreens with overdrive disabled my black screens aren’t cured.
Something to note though: my blackscreens of death, I can alt tab/alt f4/hit f11 and kill the program and then restart, I don’t need to reboot my computer.
Hmm, if you can close the program, you’re more than likely having a different issue. The problem this fixes crashes the whole system, not just the program.

Sir. you may be a genius. I did what you suggested, hopped on my engineer and started blasting my flamethrower. I even popped the shaders back up to max and did it (which was usually an insta-crash) and so far nothing. I’ll play around on my engy for a while and see if this trend of not-crashing continues.
Shankes. I love you, you beautiful person.
This post needs to be stickied.
Glad it helped guys!

I’m posting here because I’ve finally found a solution to an age old problem. Although I don’t require support, I’m hoping the forum staff leaves the thread (if nothing else, makes a new thread with the information & stickies it) so that the many others facing this issue can find it. For many months, the lack of a solution to this problem was what was keeping me from playing the game.
What the problem was
You have an AMD radeon graphics card. Randomly, while playing the game, your screen suddenly goes black and your monitor says no input. The computer is still running and you can still hear music / background noise – kind of like what you’d expect to happen if your monitor was suddenly disconnected from your PC. The only way to gain access to your monitor again is to manually restart the computer.
Things you’ve probably tried
Note: If you haven’t done these, try them first.
-Updated drivers
-Re-installed GW2
-Ran GW2 in windowed mode
-Ran GW2 as admin
-Ran GW2 -repair
-Disabled some startup programs
-Tried using a different router / directly connected to modem
What worked for me
I’m not 100% sure if this will work for everyone else, but it did for me. I have had this issue for well over a year and have contacted ArenaNet about it multiple times. Nothing suggested has ever worked, up until this. I ran across this fix on a forum for another game; the user was complaining about the same issues I was having.
Here’s what you have to do:
Open up your AMD Catalyst Control Center
Make sure you have advanced view enabled
Click on “Performance”
Choose “AMD Overdrive”
Bring your GPU clock settings down, to around 750 MHz
This is what it should look like: http://i.imgur.com/jUQt8sR.png
What was causing the issue
After some tinkering, I found out what it was exactly that was causing the crash. Basically, fire. Whenever I had fire on my screen (either from players, like a flamethrower, or from a torch on the map) I could hear my GPU humming more loudly. When I turned away, it would calm down. Lowering my clock settings stopped this, and I have yet to crash since I’ve made these changes.
Hopefully this solves your problems!
I told you before, your video card is failing.
Replace it.

Doubt that.
Just as I thought, cleaning out my fans did not fix the problem. Crashed in the middle of a tournament.
The blame is back on Anet’s shoulders in my book.
Edit:
Happened again 10 minutes later at obsidian sanctum.
(edited by Shanks R Us.2489)
Are you in an overflow or dungeon?
So the problem wasn’t ANet’s?
Only played for a little while yesterday but didn’t have any problems. However, I can’t be too quick to say that the problem is fixed – I cleaned my PC last year, after this had been happening, and the problem still continued.
you didnt say what drivers you are currently using, nor if you did a DDU from safe mode before installing the latest drivers.
All my system are running AMD GPus and none of them suffer from the black screen of death.
It could be;
The Drivers (Currently running the NEW version of 14.4)
Power Supply – GPU-Z should tell you what Amps and watts your GPU are pulling. You can log this to file – Then make sure your Power supply’s 12v rails are rated for the draw. Make sure the PSU isnt getting hot to the touch either.
GPU itself – maybe the card is over heating and signaling to the Monitor is dying in the process?http://puu.sh/aKbTK/62d6b01c4d.png
That’s my version. The next picture is of GPU-Z. I started it, then opened GW2. You can see the spike from when I actually logged in. However, I HIGHLY doubt these numbers are accurate. For example, in just a few seconds, the “GPU temp” went to over 65 degrees C. That’s almost 150 F. When I minimized GW2, it went from 65+ to 40. There’s absolutely no way it could have dropped 20 C (a ~70 F drop in seconds) so quickly.
Actually it can. Modern day GPUs have whats called power saving stats. when the load on the GPU drops from 100% down to 75% in less then a couple ms, it will go to state 2 or 1, that will drop the temps by 20-25c’s in less then 1 second (happens to my 260x when I disable my litecoin mining, and it happens when I close GW2)
65C+ is normal, 75c would be the top temps I would expect. You really need to run GPU-Z with Loggin and wait till you get the black screen, then reboot and go over the logs looking for the temp changes.
If your GPU is over heating and thats killing the DVi/VGA monitor signal, then you know what to do to fix it (Replace the TIM under the gpus Heatsink+Fan, and Clean out the fans)

Date , GPU Core Clock [MHz] , GPU Memory Clock [MHz] , GPU Temperature [°C] , Fan Speed (%) ] , Fan Speed (RPM) [RPM] , GPU Load [ ,
The last line is the crash. The core clock dropped to zero, as well as the memory clock. Then the card apparently jumped to over 950 degrees F (lol, right) at the exact same time the fan jumped up to 100%.
Because of the sudden jump in temp, I don’t think it’s actually overheating – it was only at 59 C right before the crash.
It looks like your driver is shutting down the GPU (much like when your display driver would stop responding). I think you should download DDU, run it in safe mode, then install the NEW 14.4 drivers and see if that helps.
I opened up my PC and dusted it all out for the first time in a while. Was ridiculously dusty, including the GPU fan. Temps seem to be staying low & I haven’t crashed in a while – my guess is that the GPU fan was blocked, and it thought it was overheating so it shut down. Will report if the problem continues.

GPU: HD 7970
Yeah, it seems to be happening for quite a few other people as well, which is why I don’t think it’s my card.
Any chance the card is still under warranty?
At this point and with everything you’ve tried – the symptoms still point to a defective card, although you can run other games.
I would say to RMA the card (and get a replacement) or substitute another GPU in the computer. It’s really the only way to find out for sure if your GPU is the issue. I believe that it is the problem.
Unfortunately no, it’s not.
Have you tried resetting Catalyst Control Center to default settings and disabling Catalyst A.I. ?
Also, you could try deleting the Local.dat file, which is in the following location:
C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
Did nothing. Black screened in 30 seconds watching my flamethrower.

Only setting I’ve changed has been the one recommended for fixing this.
I’ll delete it & give it a try later.
Let’s eliminate the possibility that some other program is interfering (typically those that use overlays) and causing the crash.
Please try the following:
Logged into GW2. Got black screened in 30 seconds, standing in HoTM using 1 on the flamethrower.
Let’s eliminate the possibility that some other program is interfering (typically those that use overlays) and causing the crash.
Please try the following:
No programs use overlays. I went ahead & disabled a couple, but I doubt they could be causing it. Last year, support thought the problem may have been being caused by my MSI afterburner, which is what I used to record the screen. It had a small overlay, my FPS, in the top corner. However, that didn’t end up being the issue, as I’m currently having the problem without MSI active.
I’ll try again later, with these programs off, but again, I highly doubt they’re what’s causing this.
Sounds like your GPU is failing (could be other things such as power supply or motherboard too).
One thing you could try, is pulling it out and re-seating it.
I’d buy that if I had this happen with any other game. But I don’t. It’s only GW2.
Have you tried running furmark or a game that can tax your gpu to the limits?

If all AMD users were getting this, then it’s a problem. If you aren’t willing to work with support to figure out what the problem is, it’s on you.
I worked with them for months last year. Ain’t nobody got time fo dat.
Have you tried doing a repair of the game client? Maybe you have a corrupted data file? Otherwise, I have no idea what it could be. I hope someone is able to figure it out for you.
I’ve done -repair quite a few times. It would make it better for maybe a day, sometimes just a few hours.
Have the same problem here with my ATI Radeon 5700 series. I’ll usually have my screen freeze and after 5 seconds black screen and then return or what you have the monitor lose signal and it says HDMI no input. I found an interesting but annoying fix if the monitor does lose signal just pull the HDMI cable out of the back of ur comp and put it back in again and you’ll get the screen back. This only works though if the whole system hasn’t frozen and you can still hear game sounds if not you have to hardboot it which is a pain in the kitten especially if you have been waiting in wvw queue for over an hour :P
I also find that loading up guild wars 2 as soon as the computer loads up and not tabbing out of the game or starting up any other programs in the background improves stability no end but yup like you i’ve been waiting for a fix for over a year now so I don’t expect anything soon :P
I’ve never had my screen return, it’s always perma black. Also, I use a DVI cord, so it’s not quite as easy as pulling out an HDMI. I have tried it before, though, last year sometime – to no avail.
I don’t expect anything soon, either. Pretty unfortunate.
2 & a half days worth of dishonorable. Guess I’m going back to not playing this game.
I haven’t played in quite some time, but I just recently decided to start dabbling in pvp again. However, much to my disappointment, it seems I’m still getting the black screen crash I used to get MONTHS ago.
I’ve had many support tickets open about this in the past and they were never able to solve anything. At best, I’d essentially re-DL the entire game and it’d be fine for a day or two, then go back. It’s extremely annoying to be in the middle of a match and have the computer die on me.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s the monitor “losing signal” and essentially crashing the computer – resetting the entire PC is the only way to continue using it. It happens extremely frequently; to the point where I don’t even want to bother playing anymore.
All my drivers are updated.
Happens on both windowed & full screen modes.
Happens even when I run it as an admin.
Happens with minimal background programs running.
It isn’t a heating issue.
I spent over $1,000 building this gaming PC myself and have had absolutely zero problems playing every other game – GW2 is the only one to ever give me a hassle.
I just checked my email and I filed my first support ticket for this issue in June of 2013.
Its been over a year. Why is this still an issue? Not going to bother filling out another support ticket. It’s just a waste of my time. I’m seriously flabbergasted that this has been an issue for so long and still hasn’t been fixed. It’s obviously a problem on your end.
i5 3570K @ 3.4 GHz
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 7700
Windows 7 64 bit OS
Is this at least being looked at? I searched google and it seems other people are having this issue now, as well.
Edit:
Also, I did this last year. Did nothing. (before someone replies with the link)
