this is not content, this is the way precursors should have been handled in the first place, so I wouldn’t have burned 200g into the mystic toilet for no reason.

2-4 months ago, I dropped around 200g that I attained by 100% grinding fractals and dungeons hardcore because it was the fastest way to do it, and put it into crafting rares and exotics to attempt to get a dusk or dawn precursor out of the mystic forge.

Well I never got a dusk or a dawn out of mystic forge so that gold/time was 100% wasted completely. A complete waste of time and it was not fun doing it.

Now I come back to the game and hey , look, craft your way to ascended weapons! Oh… sorry I already wasted all of my time/gold in playing your gambling system and lost, so now I’m supposed to keep grinding and playing your new crafting system? We should have been able to craft our precursors from Day 1 ANET. Is this supposed to be fair? Who asked for ascended weapons … ??? I feel like the people who are in my position are not being heard by ANET even though we have said this COUNTLESS TIMES!!!!!!

What do the people and myself who are in this position do? More grind, less risk involved now, oh thanks for adding that now that I’ve burned all my gold and my time already.

Don’t know if I can do it again, don’t know if anyone should do it again. I enjoyed it the first time because I actually thought 200g would have been enough to gain me a dusk out of the mystic toilet. I was wrong, so I quit. Simple as that, uninstalled and gave up on the game because if I can’t go end-game then there’s no point in playing the game, that’s just the way I play the game.

So I came back and it’s just a straight up 100% ridiculous grind to this ascended weapon that looks like absolute crap, no cool effects or anything, but at least its not a 100% gambling slot machine eh ? ?

So if you were in my position, would you keep playing the game or would you just give up? I honestly don’t think I can keep playing this at this point. I gave it my best shot and apparently my best shot vs a slot machine wasn’t good enough. All this update did was make what I did previously an even bigger mistake (trying to get dusk) than it already was. Now, it was a complete and total fail, and that was just the precursor to the legendary itself…. lol..

So ANET, what am I supposed to do? Your own design and update dictates that I should stop playing the game because its pointless for me to continue.

Do you WANT me to continue playing or what ? I’m getting the feeling that you’re literally trying to stop people from playing the game lol. I can’t be the only one who is in this same situation. I’m sure a lot of people who are in my position already quit the game, so I’m just asking ANET if this is what they wanted because their own game system caused this. The fact that you added in crafting a terrible looking ascended weapon, but still make it so people are unable to craft a precursor, is quite frankly insanity and bad game design.

You’re going to let us craft ascended weapons by some intensive insane grind but we aren’t allowed to craft precursors for legendary weapons still… ? ?

This is unfair. I’ve been waiting for this update for ages and we still cannot craft precursor. This must be some kind of silly lame joke. Craft an ascended sword but not a precursor? Yeah, I’m done with your mystic toilet Anet.

I honestly can’t bring myself to play this game again until we are allowed to craft our precursor. There is no point in my view, all I want is twilight for the looks, and it seems the mystic toilet gods do not shine on my account.

I never got it, cuz its based on 100% luck. So I quit the game. I come back to the game…

Yeah, I’ll pass. This game is a joke now, even worse than it was before when you had to rely on LUCK to get a legendary.

Idiotic system. I’ve been shafted way too hard to continue playing this game. If Anet want’s to give me my 200g back that I lost on their precursor gambling system I’ll gladly play again.

I never got one, so I wasn’t able to get a legendary. Go figure, bad game is bad.

Now they want me to level crafting again even though I dropped 200g crafting exotics 2-3 months ago (lol) in order to craft a ridiculously grind-intensive ascended greatsword that actually looks like 100% crap compared to legendary skins.

I think I’d rather quit the game to be honest. As far as I’m aware nobody asked for this intense of a grind when they asked for a gear treadmill.

They want us to do 20 different things and spend 100’s of hours of grind in order to do it, I’ll pass, I’ve already wasted enough time in this game and got shafted for it through the mystic forge.

+1 for the OP. We’ve been letting Anet know that we didn’t and don’t want to chase stat inflation (the gear treadmill) since they introduced vertical progression in November of last year. They have been largely radio silent on the subject since the AMA last year.

the gear treadmill wouldn’t be too much of an issue with me if you didn’t have to do 5,000 different things and spend 200 hours of grind time in getting it.

Sadly I guess this is supposed to be some kind of asian-grind-mmo, coulda fooled me because when it first came out before all these updates it wasn’t anything like that.

Is it just me or does this game lack any direction once you hit 80? Dungeons are hard to find a group to learn them in (newbie unfriendly). There is no set line to take to get better Armour outside dungeon grinding? Grouping seems non existent for world events now the clockwork events are down.

Is there any guides on what to do now? I can’t find any. Hitting level 80 seems like game over so far.

after you get your dungeon armor and weapon, it pretty much is game over.

Ascended gear is just a pointless brain-dead grind with no purpose at all. This game was great when it first came out, now it’s a pointless grind without purpose.

I wonder if Anet really expects me to grind that ugly as all-hell ascended greatsword after I dropped 200g in trying to get a dusk in mystic forge a few months ago before this update was announced.

I played FF11 for years and that game was a GRIND. Almost a 2nd job no joke. This game is no where near the amount of grind that game was. Some weapons you would need to get items that had a 0.9% drop rate and the monster would only spawn every 72 hours AND you had to fight to get the monster while 19 other people were camping trying to kill it. So yeah this is nothing.

And then that game is part of history and failed miserably in the west (like all korean grinders)

I have plenty of time to grind this, but I’m not going to because its just pointlessly silly at this point. No one really WANTS to grind for anything… people just get caught up in it and take it up as a challenge, but once they realize that it’s not a real challenge at all, just a time-waster… well, then their eyes finally open.

My time I spent playing the game is wasted with each update they do. pretty soon ascended armor will be out and that time spent grinding dungeons will also be worthless.

I can’t play a game that is doing the same thing WoW does. Playing this game is a worthless waste of time.

whats anets solution to this? i dont want to play zerg content and i dont want to be caught by timers etc.. and i cant work on it alone or with friends…. there is always need of a big grp to do it….. content for small grps is needed. till now i could just avoid it without missing anything big.

I agree. It’s like anet can’t get over the fact that not everyone want’s to do everything in the game, so they’re going to shove it down our throats instead. Now I have to keep track of 5-8 different timings all over the map… its ridiculous. I don’t have time for that crap.

I only care to join zerg groups when they tend to be on the winning-end of things, but as anyone who plays this game knows that can be a toss up, and can be a complete waste of time when something fails.

That’s why I prefer smaller groups as well. I don’t like to take chances with my spare time. If I find my time is being wasted in a game I’m playing I tend to not play that game, which is exactly what happened to me 2-3 months ago when I dropped 200g on crafting trying to get a dusk which I didn’t get, then this update happens with crafting. It’s like some sick joke by Anet at this point. Nobody asked for ascended gear either, I certainly didn’t and I put myself in the hardcore grinder category but I just can’t do this anymore.

Sooner or later ascended armor will come out, and I will have wasted my time I spent grinding dungeons. Thus is the nature of MMO’s that follow WoW’s path, it never ends. Once you think you finally finished a character, an update happens and makes all that time you spent playing on it worthless. This is why I quit WoW a long time ago, and this is why I’ll be quitting GW2, because my time spent in the game will end up completely meaningless once another update happens, also the grinds are ridiculous and I don’t care to be a part of grinds that are this hardcore anymore.

I have to disagree completely, these ascended skins are absolutely terrible.

There’s no way I’m going out of my way to craft something that looks as bad as that.

I’m going to stop playing this game again, this is not the direction I wanted it to go in. What was the point of playing through all of that other stuff, just to do MORE stuff all over again, that’s just the way MMO’s are though, after you’re done grinding, get an update and grind some more. Ancient wood is pretty easy to get and salvaging helps with orichalcum.

Do 5 invasions, go to Gendarran fiels, investigate a portal, talk to a witness, gather 3 materials from an Aether Captain, a clockwork champ and something else and talk to Vorrp. That’s what you need to do to access the dungeon.

Before it ends ? I’ve been doing the scarlet “events” and I’m not sure if you have to finish them by killing the queen or not but yeah, I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to be doing in these events on the map other than participating in them.

Every time I open that device to talk to vorrp he just says something about the events and portals but yeah, got no clue.

Greg, you are the reason systems like this are set more to abuse the player base and gambling addictions. Rather the be designed as content that everyone would love to be apart of and get something out of.

You need to remember this is a service industry and as such the company is here for you. Not the other way around! They are here to provide a service that you paid for or support that is on par within reasonable expectations. The fact is people paid to play GW2 and many people pay good money for gems as well to support a game they love. These people deserve better bang for their buck.

Also there is a fine line between designing good content to earn money that treats the player base like a friend. Rather then designing content that caters to gambling addictions that is sub-par. This content was designed to take advantage of the whale player base that will spend all they have because of the gambling rush because it is easy money. Instead of designing good content everyone can afford and desire to buy all the time.

I don’t want to be “lucky” in order to get rewarded for my time. If I put time in, I want my reward. I detest RNG, probably because I put around 800 rare lvl 80 greatswords into the forge and never got a precursor either, which fuels my rng hate.

I did talk about that in my post ya know…. Course the wooden toys were the ones gotten for free off the daily stuff. So that was just fine by me and I enjoyed them. My post was speaking more of the paid gem store gingerbread weapon skins that were up at the same time if you saw them compared to the Halloween skins like the Greatsaw.

Halloween was ridiculous, only the most devoted of fans accepted it for what it was. The rest of us who enjoy playing the game for the game itself, well, it was an unnecessary money scamming scheme that was bad for the gameplay and it was obviously so.

Now, here we are again with flame and frost, here we are again back in the same situation where the rewards are… worthless. The new missions were too easy, the char chick was just weird with the bug eyes and baby thing, in fact it was downright creepy, and it didn’t deliver any sort of worthwhile reward.

Instead we’re here again, because all the new skins are RNG blacklion chest items where you get a chance for a ticket, then you bring your ticket to the vendor and select what you want.

Apparently the thousands upon thousands of players complaining about the way the whole RNG weapon skins was absolutely awful didn’t really make much of an impact because… we’re here again, complaining about the same thing. I mean, if I put my hand in a fire it will hurt, so I won’t put my hand in a fire again. I guess they skipped that lesson.

If it is true, there’s no point in doing any of this new content from my point of view. I like to play MMO’s for rewards to use on my characters not just to grind content for no reason. Each player plays for different reasons obviously, but that’s just me.

I figured the lesson learned at halloween would be enough for them, apparently they decided to make a terrible mistake all over again. I guess the thousands of players complaining about how ridiculous it was didn’t really make an impression on them because here we are again, going through the same thing…. again.

they’re not dungeons, the missions are instanced like story missions. They were pretty easy, I solo’d it on my warrior without a hassle.

Yep, pretty ridiculous as usual. Implement something with semi-okay loot and then nerf it until no one wants to play it.

I got home after the patch to nerf the loot into oblivion, got a single chest with 1 green and 1 ToT bag before the next patch to make it “once a day” went live. Now all chests are bugged (even the first go of the day) so “once a day” is “never”.

Also, this was never driving the price of all exotics down, only level 72-76 junk exotics, which weren’t that expensive to begin with. Hardly the massive economic crisis people are trying to pass it off as.

I echo that. They aren’t even level 80 exotics and from what I hear all the skins that are used are crafted skins on top of it. It’s not like you’re even getting any special skin either.

Anet if you wanted us to pay hardcore out the nostrils for skins why don’t you just give the game a 5 dollar monthly sub or something… I mean kitten yo. It’s ridic.
