More updates than MMOs with Subs?

I’ve seen 5 bugged events still after playing for 3 days coming back from a 4 month break. This is unacceptable, I do not care how often you are adding content, the fact that old content still bugs out, almost 1 year later, and new content you release is constantly bugged and does not work properly is not right.

Also the quality of the past 2 content updates(null/canach + karka queen) were that of something someone made in RPG maker. I’ve seen better bosses and mechanics in a RPG maker game than Null, Canach, and the Karka queen. Karka queen is the worst open world boss in the game, basically being a veteran/champion karka with a boring mechanic that makes no sense and is a total pushover with no real strategy or skill involved. The temple bosses were much harder, and tons of other boses were too.

If the quality of stuff you are adding is going to diminish because you are trying to update the game too quickly, then please either hire more people, or update slower and spend more time creating content. I would prefer quick, bug-free, well designed content every 2 weeks(PSO2 does this, PSO2’s content also is permanent and they add much more and much better content, also a 100% free to play game and not buy to play), but if that is not possible please make better quality content at a slower pace.

Difficulty and the Casual Player

“casual” does not mean “amateur”. Nothing in this game needs to be made easier, things need to be made harder. If you are finding things in this game too hard or challenging, you need more practice and need to improve more.

I did this on a level4 necro without any stability and didn’t get hit by a single mine. Anyone finding this encounter difficult should strongly consider changing hobbies.

Just tried the 5 man instance with a group of PUGs. The experience was awful. And I am not blaming the other players. The mechanics of the fight, the knockbacks, the unavoidable AoE, the invulnerability periods and the tedious length of the encounter made the whole experience terrible. I don’t even want to bother trying to figure out the tricks in this encounter. The faster this instance is removed from the game, the better.

I was disappointed by the Secrets release and I thought Anet would learn and adapt. Some things with the previous content have been improved, but it appears from this instance that Anet thinks its customers are looking for the most unpleasant gaming experience possible. Is this to try and give a greater feeling of accomplishment for completing content? If so, that is just sad.

Edit: Okay, I just went and did the solo instance. I did complete it without looking at any online guides, though my experience in the five man instance did give me some insight. Didn’t take too long to figure out to use the mines to damage Canach, but I still think the CC is too much. Dodging to avoid is a bit of a problem as my reaction time isn’t the greatest (plus you need to dodge and not hit an active mine). But still about the most positive thing I can say about it is that I am not angry after finishing.

Please anet, do not listen to people like this. Null was an incredibly dull and easy fight, you have to basically be playing with your feet to find it challenging. Canach was even easier, and the fight just makes it drag on if you want to 100% avoid damage(achievement) because of the 30 second cooldown on the guns knockback and the easily avoidable spam bomb rearms/explosions happen too frequently and just prolong an already boring boss fight, as well as bombs taking forever to go from yellow – > green after repopping.

Canach and Null are really, really, REALLY easy. I cannot stress this enough. They are cool ideas but implemented badly, there isn’t much challenge or teamwork, you just tank and spank Null while someone runs around disarming(or two people) bombs and bringing it to the bomb to take the shield down, then continue to tank and spank it. The lightning elementals are easily dodgable, and don’t even do much damage.

Please, I am begging you, do not listen to someone like this when taking feedback of your content. We want harder stuff, MUCH harder!

My opinion:

Canach and Null:

Cool concept, done badly. No ideas personally how to make it better, but if you want to add unique mechanics like this, test it more, see if it’s actually “fun”, make it harder until it’s too hard for your testing team, then double/triple it. I think this works for all content you make, double/triple whatever your testing team finds too hard.

Karka queen:

A veteran/champion karka that you throw eggs at to remove her armor, then you spam damage on her and she’s dead in 4 minutes. Pretty much the worst open world event boss I’ve done, even shadow behemoth was more fun. She is very easy, no real mechanics, not much dodging, she doesn’t do enough damage, and doesn’t require paying much attention to anything really. The temple bosses are much harder and more fun than her, pretty much every event in the game is. I’m not sure why a boss easier than any boss in the game was added when player feedback has been “please add harder content! please make harder bosses”.

She needs mechanics added, needs to do more damage, needs more special attacks, needs a lot of things really. No real ideas, but she’s badly done.

Overall I won’t be returning to southsun much, I have much more fun in Orr, SPV, WVW, and dungeons(not cof path1). Southsun is my least favorite PVE zone when it comes to events and bosses, but it has the most fun normal monsters. Karkas, vet karkas, drakes, and most of the mobs are all challenging and fun to fight solo/duo, much harder than any other mob in the game. Which is why I’m so confused as to why a zone with the hardest mobs in the game has the easiest event boss and had the easiest “dungeon” bosses.

Anything that comes purely from RNG and I cannot buy what drops out of the RNG box directly from the AH, or the cash shop with gems does not exist in my mind.

I say keep it if it’s making anet good money, it has no effect on me, but do not neglect other players who are not willing to spend money on essentially nothing. We should get tons of cool skins too.

Other players need to think the same way if you are unwilling to spend money on gambling for skins, just let anet make tons of money off stupid people and ignore they exist.

Does Karka Queen live up to the hype?

in Last Stand at Southsun

Shiyo.3578

Almost a direct copy/paste of a normal veteran/champion Karka, with 1 unique thing thrown in(need to throw eggs to break armor, which doesn’t even make sense, how do EGGS break something armored?). Incredibly easy, incredibly boring, no actual skill, strategy, or challenge at all. As easy as shadow behemoth or any lesser big boss event, and much worse than orr temples, even before they were changed to be better.

The entire southsun living story event chain was a huge let down, I will probably never do the karka queen again and only did the null/canach once to see what they were like, and they were just as badly designed as the karka queen.

You’re lucky if option 1 is even an option – for many of us out there we don’t even have access to guild events and thus commendations are a non option, you ONLY option is to wait literally months to accrue the necessary laurels

Why is it not an option? Hundreds of guilds host public guild missions multiple times a week. You’d have to go out of your way to not be able to finish your guild missions every week, it’s so easy.

COF Path 1 is too rewarding

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shiyo.3578

Shiyo.3578

Hello, I have been playing this game since release, I recently quit for about 4 months but came back recently. In this time, I’ve noticed a huge increase in pretty much every item except ectos, which dropped down to their normal 20s price(they were going up and up with no indication of going down).

I feel this is because, everyone is running COF path1. It is by far the most profitable way to make gold in this game, the easiest way, and the quickest. This leads to many people simply running the dungeon, then buying whatever they need off the TP. This is not healthy for the game, because the demand goes up, the supply goes down, and gold is constantly being added to the economy via just pure gold drops/rewards from bosses and dungeon reward, so everyone has more money, and everything is inflated.

This can be seen now, as everyone is in southsun, the supply of t6 and t5 dust is dwindling, constantly going down, and down, and down, while the demand keeps going up. There is not enough people farming the T6 dust to keep up, and the price will not decrease for a very long time. Other T6 mats have increased in price recently as well, not as big as dust, but they have gone up a bit, and will continue to rise as less people are farming, and more are just running COF.

This is bad for the game, no ones out in the world, the world doesn’t feel alive, going against the games design philosophy. There are also constant nerfs to the popular farm spots, such as plinx, skelks, the two camps that constantly get attacked in orr, etc. I think all these nerfs were well deserved, because everyone was crowded here and not going to other zones, all over the world, and it was laggy and congested and not very fun.

However, nerf after nerf has happened to every outdoor zone, but nothing has been done about COF path1. Every time a common farm spot is nerfed, COF path1 just gets that much better.

Therefor, I propose a hotfix temporary nerf to adjusting how rewarding COF path 1 is, making it less rewarding, and equal to other places outside the world, and other dungeons. It is a very easy, quick, painless dungeon. The reward should be much, much less than any other dungeon.

I’m afraid by the time COF gets it’s pass at being changed/redone like AC was, the damage will be far too great. That is why I propose a temporary change now to how rewarding it is, to get people doing other dungeons more often and outside in the world.

I would just like the economy to be in better shape, and people to run more fun dungeons, and be rewarded equally everywhere they go, and everything they do. It is not fun for most players to run the same dungeon over and over again, simply because it’s the best way to farm.

I am curious what other players think about this as well.

Thank for you reading, and have a nice day.

Ranger’s are also an incredible PVE class, they have the best water field in the game, 50% uptime waterfield with AOE regen + aoe condition removal? Yes please, not to mention they’re tanky as hell, do decent damage, and have the best res in the game via their elite spirit. You just need a ranger who knows how to do more than autoattack with a ranged weapon and alt tab. Use greatsword, gear tanky, and support while tanking. Pretend you’re a guardian with a pet, because you are.

even if the ranger is specked for zerker and uses a sword their damage is still over than anyone else’s. Excuse from Anet? They have a pet to help their damage, so they don’t need a damage increase! So no, they don’t do decent damage.

You are not there to do top damage. You should not be using zerker gear. You still do decent damage while supporting your entire group.

HGH eng does far too much damage, it’s pretty much the only class that constantly puts me at 10% hp every 2 seconds. Even with wall of reflect and shield spirit they’re still annoying as hell. Hopefully their damage gets toned down, probably with a nerf to keeping 25 might up 24/7. Dying to 30k burn damage when I’m constantly removing conditions and always timing my condition removals properly isn’t fun.

They’re actually somewhat easier to kill than a Shatter Mesmer, they simply bring ALOT to the table.

I don’t see how a medium armor class with 18k+ hp and 1600+ toughness with a 3 second invul, a 2 second invul, a self-res, and tons of condition removal is “easy to kill”.

If they where a specific profession? Just for anything?

(Looking to see if the CoF1 mentality is present everywhere or not.)

I no longer invite THF’s or people below 2,500 achievement points because every single THF and every single person I’ve ever had a group below 2,500 achievements or on THF has been completely garbage at the game and made the dungeon 4 man.

THF’s are fine, they might be the worst PVE class, but they’re still fine. However, the players who play the class made me not want to risk it anymore. Sorry good THF’s.

Semi-out-of-topic

How do you guys expect the Ranger to play? I am asking because I am currently levelling a Ranger and I want to get an idea on how people like them to play.

I noticed most issues are on pets – what about it?

Ranger pet damage will get nerfed...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Shiyo.3578

…because pets HP are tanky enough.

Based on GW2Guru May State of the Game

Would like to start a discussion regarding this one.

In PvP, i don’t mind much as I feel OP in this area. But in PvE, i think this will affect the profession greatly specially those with full Beastmaster build. Rangers, are already getting kicked alot of times in the party just because our DPS isn’t on par with Warriors.

Some of the pets didn’t get the HP buff (ie., Reef Drake, Jaguar, Alpine Wolf, etc…) in the previous patch so I don’t think they should be nerfed with their damage. If so, at least buff Ranger’s damages themselves. The sword punishes the rangers by rooting them in one place so at least buff its damage.

Ranger class is already meh to the eyes of the warriors in PvE.

Rangers are fine in non-speedrush(which is boring) dungeons, you just need to actually do more than autoattack. A low CD 50% uptime water field + aoe regen + condition removal, a very strong res via spirit(probably the best res in the game), low cooldown fire field, very good tanking ability, and decent damage makes ranger great in dungeons.

Usually i like to run a quick cof for some tokens and coin before i go to bed as it is a swift run.

Tonight, al 5 of us where on different servers , all contested, 3 of us guested to 6 other servers , all contested….what gives?

11 servers contested. No one wants to do the event ,because quite frankly, i have done it soooo many times, it bores me to tears…

All i wanted was a quick cof, but alas tonight, a duneon run was denied from me.
IMHO i should be able to run dungeons whenever i choose to without participating in a silly event to " open the gates "….

If i want to run events, i go run events….
Please remove this silly event from cof, it wastes my time, it wastes the other 4 guys time, it wastes every single persons on the servers time…..

Now , without a doubt ill get the few that will come here and say " but i like doing the event, its part of the game "…..Sure it is, but it gets old, quick….

All i wanted to do was run a quick cof…just a quick ole run before bed…..

DENIED ACCESS……..

Sorry but you’re playing the wrong game. This is a game about a living world with constant struggle between races, losing access to dungeons and needing to take it over and claim if your races makes the world feel epic and alive. If you want a theme park, instant gratification MMO there are numerous ones out there. Might I suggest some to you? They might be to your liking:

They do this all the time, they claim huge changes, and all we get are bug fixes and 1 thing edited in a way that makes it slightly more useful. They also pull that “next patch won’t have much, but the one after will have tons!” crap 24/7. I remember they hyped jan/feb/march for “as much content as an entire expansion”, did anyone see an entire expansion of content? A $30-40 expansion is what they said, did ANYONE see that? I didn’t.

I also remember “20+ bullet points of eng changes! Tons of classes changes!” then nothing but bug fixes for engineer, and every other class, with very few minor changes overall.

It’s going to be nothing but bug fixes, typo fixes, and rewording. Maybe edit a few traits to be slightly less useless, but still completely useless.

Stop being elitist jerks

Stop telling me how I should play the game. Go make your own carebear groups and forget about ours.

You’re just whining about the fact that you can’t join our groups. Deal with it, make your own. You shall have no say in how we run our party.

For me, speedclearing content efficiently and getting things quickly is 90% of the fun. For you, taking up to an hour with random bad pugs might be your own notion of fun. But it’s yours, and only yours.

I have fun playing the game, I don’t have fun turning it into a MLG tournament, especially this games PVE, which is by far some of the easiest PVE in any MMO I’ve played. Want to be challenged? Go go do WOW hardmodes, they are much more challenging than this games, but I find this games much more fun.

I didn’t know “playing for fun, clearing content, but not making it zero fun by tryharding/mlging it up and needing to speed run with mesmer/guardian/warrior only” made me a carebear. I’ll remember how much of a carebear I am next time I’m WVWing and SPVPing and killing people.

I >>DO NOT<< want to be in your groups. I make groups that are the complete opposite of your groups (no skipping, no shortcuts,no exploits) on purpose, because anytime I’ve grouped with players with your mentality I’ve had 0 fun. I do not like your playstyle, I do not find it fun, I used to have fun playing like that when I was younger. I don’t anymore, I don’t see a purpose to it, and I just want to have fun pl aying the game. I have more fun killing every mob and killing bosses the way the devs meant they were supposed to be done, and have zero fun if I’m making easy content even easier by running mesmer/guardian/warrior only, skipping 95% of trash(which I constantly get rares/t6 mats off of, and AOEing stuff is fun), and exploiting bosses so that they can’t even fight back, or making easy bosses even easier with silly speedrun exploits.

I’ll have full ascended gear in 2 more weeks of guild missions, and I just came back to the game(had 0 laurels, 0 guild mission commendations, 0 pristine fractal relics) 1 week ago. I do not need to ruin my own fun and make easy dungeons even easier to get the best gear in this game.

Do people still hate/avoid RANGER and THIEF?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Shiyo.3578

Shiyo.3578

This game is so easy, yet we have complete elitist jerks who ruin the game by wanting to run 3 ZERKER WARRIOR GUARDIAN MESMER ONLY, and want to exploit/skip/take every shortcut possible.

Everytime I make a dungeon group on gw2lfg, I put no shortcuts, no exploiting, and no skipping. Why play the game if you’re going to skip all of it? Why play a game if you only play for the reward, and not the journey? Neglecting certain classes like THF and ranger is also crazy. You do not need a certain class set up to do any content in this game besides maybe 50+ fractals, which are 0.001% of the games content.

Stop being elitist jerks and play the game for fun, not for loot in a game where you can’t even get better item stats because exotics is the best gear, and ascended is purely time-gated meaning hardcore farming COF speedruns and trying to make infinite money and have more gold than everyone doesn’t make you stronger at all.

Seriously, there are no stat upgrades at the end of the dungeon, there is no drops with character progression(besides cosmetics) that you are getting from the end of the dungeon. Why do you need to clear it as fast as possible and farm it? Enjoy the kitten game.

If the only way you can have fun is being an elitist jerk, trying to tryhard everything with flavor of the month class comps, and make everything easier/faster by skipping 95% of the content and making the content as easy as possible you should probably play a different game. This game does not cater to people like you, and this game is as anti-elitist as you can possibly be.

Level Scaling is not for "rewards"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shiyo.3578

Shiyo.3578

I just wished level scaling worked properly. Being level80 and 1-3 shotting any mob below level ~50 is very unfun. No challenge, just killing in 2-3 autoatacks. When you’re that actual level the game is much more challenging, you shouldn’t be scaled so high that everythings a joke, I’d rather be equal to the mobs I’m fighitng. if I was leveling an alt and someone was level80 I would have 0 fun leveling with them because they’d 2 shot everything and I wouldn’t even be able to tag stuff.

Temp Content is not very fun for me

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shiyo.3578

Shiyo.3578

The reason why the content doesn’t stay is because the more you fracture the playerbase, the less people there are playing. SAB and the new dungeon kept a lot of people out of the open world, which is not really Anet’s goal.

That is quite a loop, ain’t it?

Content is played -> Players stays off Open World -> They remove content to stop that -> Players stop playing until there is “content to play” (No Open World interaction aswell) -> Content is created to bring players again. /Repeat

So the thing here, is what should be left as permanent and shouldn’t be, to make players stay tuned in the game (whatever the mode they are playing)!

Why do people stop going to the open world? Is it because the new temporary content is more rewarding, easier, and gives better/more loot/rares/etc? Well, an easy fix to that is to make the content temporary give you that bonus, for the duration of how long the content lasts now, but after the event is over, they reduce the rewards and make it slightly worse or equal to the outside world. That way people will still have new content to do.

Temp Content is not very fun for me

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Shiyo.3578

Hello I played for 3-4 months straight at release, and had a blast the entire time. I leveled many classes, did lots of dungeons, did lots of fractals, did lots of crafting, did tons of events, and WVW’d a bunch. I eventually got burned out and quit the game, hoping that when I came back there would be tons of new content to experience. To my dismay, 6 months after I come back, I do all the new content(secret of southsun + guild imssions and a few other new events/jump puzzles/dailies) in a matter of 5-10 hours, less than 1 day of playing. That is completely unacceptable – if the content that was added had not been temporary, there would be a ton of mini-games, dungeons, jump puzzles, events, etc I could be doing right now, but because it was all temporary I got less than 10 hours of new content to do.

I love this game, I really do, but this is the first MMO I’ve ever played(I’ve been playing MMO’s for 11+ years now) where I’ve come back to a game 6 months later and had less than 1 day of new content to experience. This is also the first MMO I’ve played where 90% of the new content was temporary, why is this? It is not very fun to miss out on tons of content, then come back and have almost nothing to do. I don’t want to play for 3 days every month when you add temporary content, I want to save up tons of content then do it all after I stop playing for a few months, ensuring when I come back I’ll have months and months of content to play and look forward to.

I’m not the type of person who plays on/off for 3 days when new stuff is added, I like to play a lot, then quit, then come back and play a lot again. At the rate this game is moving, I’ll basically never be able to do that until a boxed expansion comes out that adds hundreds of hours of gametime.

Does anyone else have a problem with temporary content or is it just me?

Thanks for reading this and have a nice day!
