Thief hasn’t been a good 1v1 class in like a year and a half. The last time it was good at 1v1 was when s/d 2 could be used while cced.
As a thief main the game is more fun and in a better spot when s/d isn’t viable. Sorry to say that, but it’s true. That spec just isn’t fun to deal with at all.

I don’t want to live in a world where paying $50 for an expansion every few years is considered pay to win.
Most people didn’t make an elementalist, aka a mage with explosions and fireballs to be a support bot using the most boring weapon combination.
There’s literally video options to turn down spell effects, why exactly is this FORCED onto us?

Seriously? What I will get after spending 10 golds for the Eldvin Monastery Brew of the Month Club would be just a backpack really similar to the others that I can craft with the standard crafting , a title and a decoration?
I mean, at leass make the backpack ascended …. I’m so disappointed..
Can almost make 10 gold in a single day just doing 1-19 and 21-40 fractals. Takes less than 2 hours.
10 gold for an ascended back piece would be stupid.
Expansions with as much content as HOT every year would be insane. I highly doubt that though, probably every 2-3 years.
I can’t ever see auras on myself or others anymore, and they used to look so cool. I don’t understand why they’d make the game look less pretty with no option to make it prettier?
Thief actually has no way to counter a condi thief as a normal build that actually contributes to team fights and winning the game.
Condi thief also requires literally no thought at all to play, you mash the 3 keys, mash evade and hit your utilities every time they’re up.
Fighting a condi thief as a thief is the most infuriating experience I’ve had playing this game, it’s actually the only build I can NEVER beat 1v1 regardless of player skill.
It’s really stupid and I hope it’s never viable in team fights. Death blossom needs removed from the game entirely.
They aren’t fun. They aren’t well designed. They aren’t good content. Their difficulty varies between “this is meant to be duod” and “this is meant to be done with a zerg of 15 people” with no actual indication besides a vague “easy, medium, and hard” difficulty which actually isn’t accurate as there are hard missions vastly easier than medium ones. It’s like they were designed by two different dev teams that had no communication with each other.
It’s just not good, can we remove them and add ascended earring to more things?
Logged back into FF14 to do what? Stare at a wall? Wipe endlessly to the same boring content that’s been stagnating for over 10 months now?
At least this game has plenty of things to do.

Gj I guess NCsoftB&S Just launched in a new market and his been out for a while in the East. At the very least TRY to be a bit more objective.
I hope this is a wake-up call for ArenaNet. The amount of content in HoT was not enough, the price tag was too steep and the marketing campaign was bleh.
Good news is they seem to have come to the same conclusions, considering they now talk all the time about being focused on making a lot more content and making the game less grind-y. But we’ll see.
Edit: something worth noting is that I don’t really see the China release having much of an impact on earnings. All those resources and energy and for what?
HOT has more content than any MMO released in the past ~8 years. The last MMO expansion with anywhere near the amount of content was the burning crusade(WOW). It released in 2007.
HoT just does not cater for the traditionally casual GW player It’s a niche product. What did they expect????

Living story 15 minutes of content every 2 weeks log on and do dailies gameplay was awful. HOT is the best state GW2 has ever been in.

They will not do this, because this will hurt their wallet via character slot purchases. This is because many people now buy extra character slots and create another class they already have, just so they can use it to hold build variant for that class. For Example: Johnny Boy likes playing longbow ranger and druid, but hates swapping all the traits/weapons around. He puts longbow ranger build on his current character, then purchases an additional character slot creates another ranger and puts druid build on it. Presto Anet makes money and johnny just has to swap characters instead of spend 2 minutes making sure he changes all the traits correctly. If Anet makes build templates, this process won’t be needed anymore and they lose money.
One of the dumbest things I’ve read in a while. Bravo.

D/D 3 is bad. God awful bad and needs to be changed etirely.
Dagger offhand 4 is pretty bad, it’s “ok” damage/cripple at range but provides little to no utility.
Dagger offhand 5 requires you to literally be inside your target to use it and is unreliable.
Dagger offhand is bad and the “dual wield” D/D skill(skill 3) doesn’t belong.
P/P is just an unfixable abomination.
P/D was good last time I played(I took like a 6 month break) in WVW only, but actually not fun to fight against and probably the easiest spec in the entire game to play. Would prefer it being completely revamped.
S/D’s 3 is really unfun for me to use. Dagger offhand 4 is again not that great and provides little to no utility. Dagger offhand 5 is again unreliable and too annoying to land.
S/P’s 3 is hard to use effectively in PVP.
Shortbow is great.
Dagger offhand just needs to be revamped/buffed or something. and d/d’s “dual wield” aka 3 needs to be replaced with something new entirely.

and considering all the healing and defense options added you shouldnt let to get yourself downed on the first place

A main thief want to kill people and hate to see them rez because they can’t cleave enough. This is looking bad for the thief and great for the support.
DPS are scissor and rock are bunker. Paper is your condi build that DPS eat for diner.

im not playing the usual sheep thief build you see around so i dont burst people instantly, im playing a bruiser thief build with a staff so you can feel free to quit these silly arguements of yours directed to my personality or playstyle since you seem to miss the mark all the time

We’ve got good power/condition damage balance, now we just need balanced bunkers. Seems to be a hard thing to accomplish though. I’m also not sure how to make people play bunkers in solo q ranked because if you get 2 bunkers on your team that seems like an instant loss.
Did you play during this past league season? It was almost a guaranteed win.
No. I’m also talking about the current patch. We have bruisers, burst builds and condition builds., but not really many good bunkers. Having multiple bunkers right now would hurt your team a lot.

Chill should not work on attunements. It’s a huge oversight or an outdated mechanic designed before reaper was created and not balanced around the current game.

Every other class can be managed. Ele is still the most mechanically sound class in the game.(Main Ele.=Jublain)
Hint: One cantrip, One glyph, One arcane utility. Spec traits similarly.
Summary: Please leave Ele AS-IS. No improvement/nerfing necessary.
Avoiding a class when there’s multiple of them in the game doesn’t actually work.
Engineer has been brainless and overpowered since 1.0. Nothing new here. It’s what happens when you give a single class literally everything.

The entire ranger class is badly designed.
There is indeed a bunch of hearts without enough things to do and they’re tedious and boring.
Bosses designed by someone who has played a video game before. New bosses are getting much better but we get a boss like once every 6 months so lol.
So, he is a 2 month old account with a level 27 character and he wants to give you an item valued at 671gold? At 2 months, starting from zero, he’s amassed enough gold that he can casually give away 671 gold?
You’ll have to excuse me for being a bit skeptical, but it’s more likely he’s pulling your leg.
I got 550g in my 1st month casually playing. Don’t see an issue

Page 18, john still not has answered why damask is still 100 bolts of silk instead of 50 when silk is so expensive compared to other t5 mats and every other ascended item is only 50.
edit: Forgot to mention. damask is also 4x the price of every other ascended mat

Eh’d. I’d like Venoms reworked completely, Traps altered to be slot-worthy without a runeset, some acceptable balance between Acrobatics and Shadow Arts as sources of a Thief’s condi-clear/sustain options … oh, and P/P upgraded.

This game has the worst kick system I’ve ever seen, the only system that could be worse would be a system that randomly kicks people from parties every 5 minutes without anyone even initiating a kick.
Solution : don’t play ranked if you’re new.
Play lots of practise, then do unranked.
Practice in awful to learn how to play for a new player and unranked has tons more full premades than ranked. Ranked is the only place to get proper practice.
HOT not adding templates is so dumb.
Thief and mesmer are high risk high reward that need to set up their damage. Fresh air ele needs to set up it’s damage, necro kinda just holds W while pianoing it’s keyboard.
d/d ele is really really face roll and just does a rotation for 15 minutes until it outlasts people.

NPE was the biggest waste of dev time in the history of MMO’s and one of the worst patches and changes GW2 has seen(dhumfire patch was just as bad).
The point of this thread is to demonstrate how utterly ridiculous it is that the stuff that most players consider “grindy”, “challenging”, “unaccessible” gets no reward, while the most boring and pointless tasks are being rewarded.
That’s the name of the game, the most difficult content is the least rewarding and the easiest is most rewarding.
It’d be nice if other amulets were actually viable, some are ok like rabid and soldier but some are complete and utter garbage like valk, what exactly were they thinking with this amulet?
We need a proper bruiser amulet for non-sustain classes: POWER VIT TOUGHNESS CRIT CRIT DAMAGE.
Where’s the valk + knight gear combo amulet that I can do in WVW/PVE? Where’s the soldier + zerker or soldier + valk/knight combo I can do in WVW?
Why isn’t there something as simple as power/precision/VIT? Shouldn’t that be valk’s amulet? Since when does valk = toughness and healing power(as well as power/crit damage)? Last I checked it’s power, vit, and crit damage.
The amulet system is utter trash.

It’s weird how everyone thief experience in SPVP seems to be based on 1v1 and completely ignores the fact I said “team fights”.

Bad thieves die, good ones live forever. If you think thief is bad at team fights, just…I don’t even know what to say. It’s one of the best team fight classes in the entire game. A good thief carries team fights HARD.
Ranger downstate is hilarious, hardest class to stomp, nearly impossible to AOE cleave down without multiple people, multiple CC when counting pet.

Fractals are absolutely too long especially for how unrewarding they are. I get bored of fractals after doing them for like 5 days in a row once a day just because they drag on forever.
