The Dragon Hunter 20% nerf that was mentioned here in this thread to me also felt like a PvP knee jerk because they could blow up people that were bad (the kind that do not dodge or use any defensive skills etc..) with little to no effort and unfortunately they were all ready comparatively low dps before that nerf in PvE which put the pve focused DHs in a rather precarious situation if their guilds liked to min/max they went from being barely acceptable in some circumstances to no.
Drake’s breath being nerfed so badly due to it being too strong in pvp(if it was rebuffed it wouldn’t be too strong now..)and thus making it a DPS loss over AUTOATTACKING is another good example of why balancing everything at the same time does not work. A cooldown channeled easily interrruptable purely damaging ability being a DPS loss of auto-attacking because it was nerfed due to PvP is absurd.
Zealot’s armor needs to have it’s material costs re-examined, badly.
It was created when 500 sprockets were nothing and the current living story gave you tons, it’s not like that anymore. It was a sink for them when they needed one.

I think most people would have more fun if everyone wasn’t a tanky unkillable monster in PvP and there wasn’t so much AOE cc/condis flying around and stability wasn’t passively given to you for no reason.
Fixing these things would make you feel rewarded for your skillful plays.
Since HoT:
Too much AOE CC.
Too many AOE condi bombs.
Too many passives(rune of nightmares 6 piece)
Too much sustain
Too much AOE healing
Too much stability
Too much passive tankiness.
Basically too much of everything has made it INCREDIBLY hard to do skillful plays and use CC and burst strategically because everyone has too many outs and get out of jail free cards.
Combat is too slow paced now and fights go on for days. Most of the time people res zerg nodes(thus holding it) faster than you can kill them. That isn’t fun PvP.
It’s making the game much less competitive and killing off the player base.
Leagues were actually a good idea imo, but really really badly designed and implemented. They are grindable and unfair to players with average/low MMR. The 50/50 algo on top of current 60%/40% MM completely took fun out of – as single player you have almost 0 impact on match outcome because odds are always so stacked against one of the teams that even if1 player afks the “winning” team will still win.
This as well. I agree. Playing a match and feeling like you’re doing VERY well but cannot win the game, because of how the mode works, is really frustrating. Doubly so when you gain NOTHING from playing super well and playing your heart out just because of bad matchmaking. Meanwhile the enemy who played worse than you is rewarded because on average their team is better thus they get a win and winning is all that matters. It’s not fun.
You could consistently 1vs2 and 2vs3 the enemy team all game but lose and gain NOTHING – how is that ok? Worse players are gaining stuff while you aren’t even though you’re destroying them? Lame.
Win/loss should not the ONLY factor for rewards and progress in a team based PvP game.
The most prominent flaw is that fights take forever and are nothing but attrition. Everyone is incredibly tanky because conquest is the only game mode and most of the defense in this game are on passive threshold procs. This makes every fight turn into a boring slug fest where you dont care what connects just as long as you hit them more than they hit you. Literally everything in this game is now spam spam spam and its all AOE damage.
Agreed. These fights aren’t fun and take little thought or skill.

That will be too complicated, to both the developer and people who actually plays the game as a whole.
I don’t understand how different damage numbers will be complicated to anyone playing the game or even the devs.
The damage numbers are already different in every single mode – PvP has lower stats, PvE you randomly get boons from other players like 25 stacks of might, 25 vuln on bosses, and WvW has power orbs that give +all stats.
Are any of those too complicated? No, they are not.
Every top MMO on the market is now doing different skills entirely for PvP and PvE, why can’t anet at least do different skill numbers?
Can we please have separate balancing between modes? At the very least, just numbers(damage, healing, damage reduction)?
Certain things that are deemed overpowered in PvP completely kill off a weapon or spec in PvE when changed(Like truehot losing 20% damage).
I can understand different abilities, or mechanics being confusing for “new players”, but why can’t we just adjust numbers on skills for different modes?
If a skill is overpowered in pvp, why can’t it only do less damage or healing in pvp? Why does it have to get nerfed in ALL game modes? How is that confusing to anyone? It’s the same skill, it just does slightly more/less damage/healing depending on the mode. I mean, this is already a fact of modes. You do more damage in PvE because of buffs, you do less damage in PvP because of less stats overall, you do more damage in WvW sometimes because of WvW buffs, etc.
It’s really upsetting for an entire weapon or spec to just made completely irrelevant and no longer good because it’s overpowered in x mode, especially PvP, making it nerfed in EVERY single mode. It’s generally just number nerfs too – which are not going to be confusing to anyone, so why can’t skills just be nerfed in the mode they’re overpowered in if it’s just going just be a FLAT damage/healing nerf?
At release you had the tools available to nerf/buff things in separate modes, what exactly changed?
Trying to balance the entire game and all three modes at the same time is only going to cause headaches for not only the players, but you too! It’s much more complex and difficult to have good balance when you’re trying to balance skills in THREE different modes. Please, damage/healing number differences between modes is not confusing or complex at all, let them have different numbers depending on the mode if something is too strong or too weak in some form of content.
Please, I beg you Anet, separate skill numbers between modes when balancing. It will make the game much more enjoyable for EVERYONE involved, and it doesn’t seem like that much more work.
This season’s MM is awful. I shouldn’t be below 50% win rate in Emerald. I’ve consistently played at ruby or higher up until now. But I’m getting matches against others that are clearly better than emerald too…but my teammates are constantly playing as if they just got out of amber.
It’s as if keeping me near a 50/50 win rate is more important than letting me get to where I should naturally settle…and it’s kittening up my ability to climb tiers because I can’t get on a streak at all because I’m always having to attempt a carry of a crappy team who doesn’t cycle, doesn’t +1, just runs to mid and spams away on a tank until dead.
Last season I had 8-10 win streaks constantly as I went from amber up to ruby. I can’t win more than 2 in a row before I’m saddled with stupidity OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
Every win I have is when I clearly have skilled teammates and we win like 500-200 (or less). Every loss, I carry 4 baddies and we lose like 500-400 (or more).

I’m either given FREE wins handed to me on a silver platter where I win 100-500 3 capping nearly the entire game or I’m given completely uphill imbalanced matches where I have to try my heart out and end up BARELY losing because the team is stacked against mine hard.
There is no balanced matches.
@Zohariel, I have the same problem. I constantly get matched with the same subpar players I know are not good and I’ll probably lose with OVER AND OVER yet the enemy team is ALWAYS different. Why?
I have to constantly add people to my friend list and now queue when they’re out of a game, it’s stupid.

@ OP if it makes you feel any better I haven’t been able to play gw2 pvp for over an hour now because I’m with teammates that that can be 2vs1’d by every player on the enemy team. It doesn’t get better at lower brackets, you just have the illusion of being able to play.

This matchmaking just isn’t enjoyable. I’m going to have to play a thief because I’m matched with people who cannot win 1v1 against the enemies – which just shows that the matchmaking is WRONG.
Mid losing 1v1, home losing 1v1, and 3 enemies at our lord. If I did not help home/mid we would have lost all 3 nodes WHILE the enemy is killing our lord.
Oh, did I mention one of my teammates doesn’t even have HoT? Why exactly are they allowed to be in a game with 9 HoT owners?
I’m just…..this is horrible and not fun.

This is unplayable. Either you’re legendary and have to wait 5 hours for a queue or you’re below legendary and have to play with people who just installed gw2.

Skyhammer is one of the best maps in the game now.
Nifhel is the worst map.
Death blossom condi thieves are NOT fun to fight.
I tried queueing solo as a clerics ele and I actually want throw my computer out the window.
Watching teammates get 2vs1’d by a condi warrior at home, watching necros run into the middle of the map when focused, watching thieves do nothing the entire game.
20-500 matches are not good matchmaking.
It’s crippling now because you could spend gold for it. A reasonable amount of gold. Now you spend a precursor amount of gold for 3 bag slots. That isn’t ok.
They are no longer QOL/conveniences, there’s too many items you cannot send to collection storage and too many keys you need to keep on you.

I get a bunch from doing T4 fractals. T4 fractals are the only thing keeping their supply actually managable.
$20 for 3 bag slots cripples new players.
$10 for a single bank expansion cripples new players.
330g for 3 bag slots cripples new players.
161g for a bank slot cripples new players.
These are mandatory things you need to be able to actually play the game at this point, with so many new items and things you simply CANNOT put into material storage or don’t go into your wallet.
Trying to play a character without at least 120 bag slots is not really doable at all with how much garbage you’re constantly given. A person without any bag slot extensions will have to CONSTANTLY fix their bags, even mid opening all the AB chests. It’s a real headache and not fun. You spend more time managing inventory than acutally looting things sometimes. While having 125-160 bag slots makes it so you never have to fix your bags until you’ve played for HOURS.
It’s really not fair for new players to have to suffer through this. Before it was ok because converting to gold for the insanely overepriced things(bank/bag slots) was totally reasonable. Now we’re at the point where 3 bag slots costs as much as a precursor, which is completely out of reach for new players.
Having the expansion needs to come with 3 bank and an extra bag slot on every character at this point. $20 for 3 bag slots and $10 per bank slot is extremely overpriced, when they are no longer “luxury” and now “mandatory” due to how filled your inventory becomes. They were once fine when there wasn’t so many items clogging your inventory, and when gems weren’t insanely overpriced to convert, but not anymore.
It’s REALLY bad for new players.
The gem prices on bank and bag slots need to be rexamined with how the game is now. I’m lucky and bought all my bank and bag slots on characters when it was 80g for 800 gems.

I just played 6-7 games where I either stomped the enemy team 500-50 or barely lost because the enemy team was HEAVILY stacked against me.
Felt really forced 50/50.
Too much AOE cc, too many AOE conditions, too many brainless invincible specs. Even thieves are invincible now, the only class that ever took actual skill to play.
Game is a joke.
Just had this happen 5 more times in a single match. Was due to warrior taunt trait when they activate berserk mode in the berserk tree.
I think it’s from me cleansing the taunt or something, I’m not sure.
Hello, I think that the dishonor system needs a complete and total revamp.
I just played a match where my internet hiccuped and disconnected for 2 minutes. I come back ASAP, and continue playing and it helps us win the game.
I had higher score than anyone on my team. I contributed a lot to winning. I apologized when I came back and said “Sorry, my internet hiccuped” and my teammates said it was no problem stuff happens, just keep trying to win! My teammates thanked me for coming back asap and said I did an excellent job and helped secure the win. I helped win, I was only not there for 2 minutes due to a internet hiccup, and I get 10 minutes of disonor and lose a pip.
That isn’t fair. Your team should be able to vote on if you lose a pip or not – it should not be automatically determined by the game. Maybe my team feels it’s ok that I disconnected because – stuff happens, maybe I’m queueing as a full premade and we don’t want to screw one of our teammates over.
It should not be an automatic system. There’s too many factors for the game to automatically decide things like this.
If abusing it is a problem, then if the person is DCed at the end of the match make it automatic dishonor no matter what for them.
Does anyone else feel like this system is really unfair? I don’t feel like I did anything dishonorable – my internet simply hiccuped because internet will be internet. I don’t have internet problems and this is the first time it’s ever happened, but sometimes your internet just hiccups once in a few months and when you lose out on pips from a win AND get dishonor for 10 minutes it leaves a really bad taste in your mouth.
I’ve never played a game where I can win a match and lose something AND be given a penalty while actively still in the match for over 80% of it.

Necros have been overpowered in PvP since the dhumfire patch(the dark times of gw2).
Thief has always controlled the meta in a way, he isn’t wrong. You couldn’t play zerker anything not mesmer in vanilla due to thieves eating you alive.
With the extreme cleansing of the warrior “bug”..
There’s really 2 major bugs actually ruining PVP and being exploited, giving the person using them a huge unfair advantage. The cleansing ire bug with longbow berserk skill and taunt making your character incapable of moving until you use a movement skill.
I’ve reported these both in game and posted them in the bug feeback forums. These are HUGE bugs that seem to be doing nothing about at all. They should’ve been hotfixed weeks ago and it’s actually really depressing that they are just keeping these easily exploitable game breaking bugs in the game. Are we going to go an entire season being CCed forever by taunt and warriors cleansing 6x the amount of conditions as intended?
I hope not, because that is not right at all. Why aren’t people mass spamming about these bugs?
On topic:
I get actually unwinnable games. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do in games where I’m given someone who doesn’t own HoT and given teammates who suicide far over and over and never even contest it, or run zerker amulets and instantly get downed in any fight.

The issue is with elite specs themselves. They CAN’T buff anything in the core ranger without buffing druid in comparison. Because of how our trait system works any utility skill or trait they buff in order to give us back some of our pressure will just immediately be incorporated into the meta druid build.
Druid sustain is already strong if they gave us reliable damage too it would be OP. Our pets were nerfed because we had too much reliable damage relevant to our sustain and control.
But again due to the way this games build system works it isn’t possible for them to say “Okay were going to buff core ranger’s pressure without buffing druids” It isn’t likely atleast*.
Going beastmastery + marks or something gives you as much self healing and sustain as a fire/air dagger/warhorn tempest, if not worse. Except you do 1/4th DPS of a tempest.
I play both classes and when both are specced purely for damage they have about equal healing, but tempest is allowed to do 4x the druids damage for some reason?
It doesn’t make any sense to me that if I equip full zerker on my druid and put zero points into any support trees, equip zero support utilities and just go pure damage, my damage is nowhere near a tempests, while having the same healing as a pure damage tempest. I. Don’t. Get. It.
I don’t see how anyone plays thief post HoT. I mained thief until HoT and and since HoT the class has been EXTREMELY unrewarding. So much effort and frustration and no reward for all that effort.
I too lose every game where one of my teammates decides to suicide far for 15 minutes straight.
It’s also unfair that if you want to play a traditional elemental mage in GW2, you have to be a piano player AND an attunement-dancer generalist. But that’s a flaw with this game.
No you don’t. The traditional mage is staff elementalist which sits in fire for 100% of it’s DPS rotation and only uses 3 buttons + fire overload for the majority of it’s DPS. Swapping out of fire is a gigantic DPS loss for staff elementalist, which is the traditional MMO mage.
HoT has done nothing but make the game much, much better in every way.
The only thing to really suffer is PVP, but it’s still really good and fun(imo).
Staff is nowhere near comparable to dagger/focus because you need focus earth 4/5 to not instantly die to condi warriors and mesmers. Also helps a ton vs thieves and trap DH’s.
I actually don’t see it possible to play anything not x/focus because of condi warriors. Not actually survivable without earth focus at all, you’re just fall over in every team fight regardless of your or the warriors skill the second they chase you around.

I want sword 2 to be a normal leap like warriors sword 2 so sword has a real mobility skill.
I want more pets like the tiger where it’s main damaging ability is it’s f2 skill and it’s on a low cooldown. More interaction with our pets please!

They suicide far over and over while we control 2 nodes already and don’t defend a node once the entire game. I’m also getting people who zerker amulet guardian and instantly die at the start of every team fight and then I ask very nicely if they could play more defensive and stay further back, they say no and say they’d rather feed and lose the game.
You’re not supposed to defend what you have, you’re supposed to maintain offensive pressure, keep tabs on their respawn, and suppress their efforts from every angle.
You choosing to sit on a point while the rest of your team “suicides” is exactly why you’re eating losses. If you have mid and home, it’s because you had momentum, and momentum is something you never want to let go of.

These are not winnable games. These are t2 sapphire games, but I still shouldn’t be getting completely unwinnable matches like this. It isn’t fair or fun to get these players.
When I’m intentionally avoiding players I get on my team by adding them to my friend list and not queueing until they’re in a game, something is really wrong with the matchmaking.
You don’t need more than like 20 mastery points total to play the game, which can be obtained by just following a zerg to events and doing them.

We’re getting to the point where nearly every class can run around doing whatever they want because they’re invincible or perma evading and there’s nothing you can do to stop them.
It’s not very fun fighting thieves who just spam dodge then randomly burst someone for 80% of their hp then go back to dodge spamming.
Following last post, I’d say it’s important you do the dragon stand meta BEFORE that part of the story. I feel like it was designed this way too.
So having to do each living story 3 or 4 times in order to get all the achievements and hence the mastery point isn’t repetitive? Seems like a lot of you like them korean grindfests and think that this isn’t grind here.
Having to do and redo bosses isn’t grind? Having to keep doing fractals isn’t grind?
I’m sitting with full exp bars on all the available masteries but still earning exp is just a waste of time. But there’s no grind there at all is there? Too many fanbois and whiteknights here to accomplish anything.the question you need to honestly ask yourself, is what is ‘making’ you do things you do not want to do?
I wonder the same thing. Nothing is forced in this game except obtaining at least exotic gear, which can be obtained in a dozen different ways.
Hard to down people when it’s ok for druids to run around in circles and be invincible.
I just want CCing someone to be a conscious decision a player makes, not something that game automatically does for them.
Almost 8/10 condi players per match that I play now. The 2 people who aren’t condi are me and the person I’m queueing with.
To make stomping more attractive you need to reduce the amount of AOE cc/condis you can easily bomb onto bodies.
I would pay $8-15/month for something like PSO2 has – extra bank slots that you can store items in while subbed and can still take items out of them when your sub is gone, but cannot keep depositing stuff into them after you lose your sub.
Also a key ring for all your keys you can access on any character!

Key ring would be a very slippery thing to start getting into. A common tactic of crappy F2P games is to stick pay walls all over the place(I have no problem with businesses making money, that is how they can continue existing but plobbing down obstacles everywhere until you pay is not the way to go). What would GW2 gain from turning into yet another bad F2P game? That market is already very crowded. Probably more crowded than GW2’s existing market.
You can buy storage in PSO2 too, but this gives you extra storage on top of that so instead of paying $10 per slot you get like 6 storage expanders for $15/month or whatever.
