all 3 classes can do everything you mentioned, it just depends on the builds.
which makes it really hard to say – you just have to see which one you like the feel of.

it’s a slap under the bus
you can’t stop stability/invulnerable stomps.
Stability stomps you can stop with damage.
…?
New players don’t have AC mastery.
And golems are better at knocking down gates regardless.
Feel what you want. Complain about what you want.
Just do it with some class and respect.
the title changed because the thread was merged with another thread
Mist form and shrink stomps make no sense, and probably shouldn’t exist. There’s lots of transforms where you can’t stomp, so they arn’t even consistent.
did you get thrown under the bus too
RNGs are easy to test, especially in something like gw2.
If you look at drop rate research or anything that deals in large numbers you can see how drop rates correspond rather closely to obviously set percentages (like 0.1%).
I’d rather get the lesser amount with a 100% chance of dropping than relying on anets borked RNG system.
there’s nothing wrong with the rng
the difference between – say – a vial of 2500 that has a 10% drop rate and a vial of 250 with a 100% drop rate is meaningless with the # of levels we’re earning
The issue is, prior to previous specs included, you need 1150 ranks to unlock all the stats per character. Presuming they have full unlocks eventually and perhaps add more as they go, I’d estimate that a player like me who has 8 classes is going to need in excess of 100,000 ranks.
why would you expect to unlock everything on every character
I think there’s a difference in degree between a stability stomper and an invincibility stomp, since you can damage stability stompers.
stealth stomping is like invincibility in many ways, though obviously not all ways
Can do damage but I still can’t help my team since I can’t CC to stop the stomp.
Stealth stomp is the easiest stomp to deal with and I can stop it with my CC.
but only some classes and builds have the kind of abilities that can CC people in stealth
which is kind of lame
++elixir S executes are very silly
but you cant execute people as a werewolf lawl
invincibility/invisibility stomping is pretty annoying, and probably shouldnt be a thing
at least in stability, you can be attacked
example: 80 man zerg attacking your hills, so you go to bay.. as soon as your smaller group of 10-20 get to bay and are working on outer, a scout or sword pop on bay…as it stands that zerg of 80 has the ability to stack swiftness and run across the map and will most definitely stop you…then once they are done…they return to hills or whatever they want to attack next…
There’s no feasible game mechanic that will let 10 or 20 beat 80 in the long run.
Currently when attacking the only thing commanders need to worry about is the potential to lose other structures (aside from supplies and enemies of course.) That’s kind of a big deal, but not really; you can always take them back later. An orb-altar would be different because it actively impacts the fight thats going on right now. A couple of roamers taking the orb costs the enemy almost nothing but the gain will be disproportionate.
I think its easy to see small orb skirmishes developing into big fights as everyone keeps escalating to try to get the bonus. It might even encourage field fights that people keep saying they want.
To Shoe, the blob will just run over the buff and leave a few people behind people will have to defend it. Which will then be defended untill another zerg will pass, if it’s a system that works like that.
Capturing the orb doesnt actually accomplish anything though. Your zerg caps the orb and then by the time it can start accomplishing anything the orb gets capped back. And if you arn’t holding the orb you’re at a disadvantage and will lose an even fight. If zergs are abandoning sieges all the time to fight over the orb then they won’t accomplish much. I find it much more likely that commanders will stay focused on capping structures while sparing as much as they can to cap the orb.
you guys understand how a buff-location zerg busts right?
a zerg can’t defend the orb AND attack objectives at the same time. If you want the orb buff people have to split off and defend it.
I am exceptionally disappointed to see how narrow-minded and ignorant a developer can become. Rather than supporting an emergent game-play style you respond to this topic with what must be one of the worst possible responses I have seen from you yet.
I’ve never GvG, I have no interest in GvG. Tabling WvW improvements in favor of GvG are coming at my expense. The WvW developer focuses on improving WvW: cue shock, disgust, horror.
reasons why you couldnt just use the jumping puzzle if there were orb buffs in borderlands: …crickets…
as for people who roam for fights whose experience would be ruined by orbs: lmfao. Has anyone ever seen any roamer give up the chance to gank someone underleveled, or refuse to attack someone without food buffs? Nnnnnope. Nor would I expect them to. WvW is NOT about fair fights.
in decades of visiting game forums I have never seen this much obstinate, entitled, thick-headed prickery as I’ve seen in the past couple weeks in this forum. Noone actually wants to talk to Devon, they want to lecture him until he bows down at their feet humbled and kisses their ring.

except your wrong. beyond a point the enemies just get tougher without increasing in number. and that point is pretty low. and really we’re only talking about Aetherblades.
++ scaling doesnt increase the number of molten alliance and has little effect on twisted
(edited by Shoe.5821)
lmfao.
if you want fights go get fights. they’re available.
but no one also expects it to be carebear, hello kitty island adventure either.
what, do we need corpse loot and death penalties now?
Why are there still so many pve aspects on all the maps.
Why shouldn’t there be?
It’s for fast starting a new character
It only works if you join an overflow that was started within 10 minutes of the event starting.
If they spun off new invasion overflows after that it would be kinda weird. You’d end up with at least one overflow with no chance of completing the event owing to insufficient players.
you dont need to submit a ticket
She’s obviously a prima donna, why would she care about Sylvari convention.
It’s as if all of Divinity’s Reach forgot that there’s a human-centaur war going on.
The Human-Centaur war is over. You went to harathi highlands, killed Ulgoth, and smashed them back over the pass. Before you killed Zhaitan, natch.
Third, Scarlet not only helped spur on the Molten Alliance, but she also formed the Aetherblade. If you thought the lore fell out the window beforehand, this is where it jumps off a bridge. I’ll start with the MA. The flame legion sect of the MA would never, ever listen to what Scarlet is. She is a female, and not a charr. Now, she could have talked to a charr that would talk to the flame legion on her behalf, but even that’s unlikely. The charr only really listen to Gaheron’s dead corpse and their destroyer gods.
This is more of an unanswered question than anything. We really still don’t know anything about Scarlet, or her background and motives.
Net, you expect me to believe that Queen Jennah’s engineers were able to construct an army of completely gear-powered robots in a country where the only person who had an interest for robotics died in Caudecus’ Manor?
They’re obviously magical. They shoot pink lightning bolts.
Tl;dr: your lore criticisms are unfounded.
(edited by Shoe.5821)
yeah that event scaling can get out of control
i’m assuming thats what happened with this thug. xD
multiple maps don’t do anything when the map is instancing already.
these definitely scale way beyond 25 players.
the rewards don’t seem to though, since the enemies just get tougher rather than having more than 2 champs
If you want more quaggans you’re definitely alone
“SF is currently engaged in World vs Watchwork. Please leave a message after the beep, thanks. "
Quite a few people suggested that dividing rewards by players would reduce server-wide cooperation. I really don’t think it will….
:|
if your five guys are taking a tower and ten guys happen along right as you bust in the door, they reduce your rewards by 2/3. there will be flames.
people will start kittening about leechers constantly
commanders won’t tag up because it reduces rewards for their guild
et cetera et al
which is why Anet didn’t go with reduced rewards for ANYTHING in the whole game. You should never be angry or lose out just because another player showed up.
there were a few threads about this recently, I thought the best solutions were to give event credit (or at least WXP) to everyone on the map. that way there is less incentive to zerg for the sake of rewards. That might cause problems with afk leechers, but thats a solvable issue.
(edited by Shoe.5821)
we don’t actually know this for certain, it’s unreliable.
we don’t even know if she’s from this world.
don’t chase the zerg. there’s more than enough events to do in the invasion zone.
problem solved
this is your post
I’m fine with you not making WXP account bound, assuming there’s a good reason for it. So let’s hear it. Right now, all we have is the apex of parenting: “because I said so!”
there’s no indication you read the quote in question and there is no way to boil down Devon’s quote to ‘because i said so’. so yes i rolled my eyes
p.s. i agree on respecs
Hmm. My guildie trebbed open the Lake tower from the Hill keep a few days ago, but we didn’t have the numbers to overwhelm the defenders. So we fought through the breach for 10 minutes or so while I corrected his fire to destroy defending arrow carts. His cows and treb fire really put a crimp in the defense and their sustain and he got tons of bags. That’s the sort of thing I’m talking about.
I don’t mean actual LS story achievements or content. I mean LS-themed events that plug into WvW, like the random steam portals i mentioned. Molten Alliance instead of regular Dredge in EB.
Or something like special upgrades that are available during the events. Watchknight guards for towers, electrified gates, something.
They have icons for which one they count for
IMO you aren’t looking at the money quote
We want each character to have a unique experience in WvW
Or to put it another way. WXP is Soulbound just like Rares, Exotics and Legendaries. WXP abilities are part of your characters kit and customization. Allowing players to swap their exotics and legendaries between their characters is analogous to account bound WXP.
If I might be permitted to speculate, the real reason this has people annoyed is thakittens annoying/slow ranking up enough to actually get anything useful or interesting from the WXP trees. Sort of like if there were only Rares and Legendaries. And you cant respec so you get cut off at the knees if you experiment.
The new WXP rate will hopefully reduce that grind, so we’ll see.
P.S.
looking at the ‘advantage to the player’ is a little weird. it’s a game mechanic, the idea is to make an entertaining game, leveling up is simply a part of RPGs.

So perplexity runes are broken because…confusion inflicts damage, much like every other condition?
I just have not seen it breaking anything. I think the onus is on people who think it is broken to prove that it’s broken. Noting that you can get 15-20 stacks of confusion on you – from say a toolkit engy – is kind of meaningless when theres so many condition builds that can do the same thing with bleeds.
I would love LS events in WvW, it wouldn’t even be difficult
random steam portal spawns, killing enough creatures spawns a macguffin or gives you a bonus or even does something cool like spawn a ‘steam siege ogre’ that either guards or assaults the gate of the nearest keep
it’s quoted several posts above yours
I’m not a fan of the supply drain. It just makes the towers near stonemist suffer evenmore.
Bear in mind that you get virtually no reward for trebbing other than the satisfaction of helping your team-mates gain a load of WXP when they storm the breach you made.
you can get a lot of bags from hitting enemies
dont follow the huge zerg
kittenmit its not hard
that’s just how us heroes roll
You there! Stealing ale, is it? murders
And you! I see that you live in a treehouse. This means you are a bandit. murders
And what’s this? Food shipments! We cant have people with red names eating food. murders guards, burns food.
I’m not really clear what the problem is with overflows?
I’ve done 3 out of 4 invasions in overflows and they all worked fine.
And what is this ‘i have to do it on 13 maps ’ malarky? It’s the completionist’s achievement. It doesn’t give a title or a loot bag or anything. It’s the furthest thing from required. so pretty much…
In general I find most people were committed to finishing the event rather than going for what they thought was the best farm. There were a few who wernt but… there’s always a few. It was pretty inspiring how people pulled together and relocated to the next event while there were still tons of enemies up, to try to eke out a win.
But I agree that there’s a risk:reward failure.
Events need to award more for completing them in general. We should be rewarded for completing objectives moreso than efficacy of murder.
Scaling is too rewarding. Scaling-spawn champions shouldn’t drop champ boxes – this would also fix ember farming. Might as well rename them “Elites” or something to make this clear.
I’m not sure how to fix frostgorge farming. xD
i think we’re hitting a peak here anyway, it’s going to simmer down a bit now
I think it means that for today the invasions will be extremely common, but in a day or two they will be slowed down
