I like how you compared a 50% boost in effectiveness to a pile of fecal matter. Makes the rest of your post really shine.

That’s what 50% boost in EXP for 15 minute is really.

I’m level 80 so what 50% boost do for me? So yes, that’s like Anet handing me a pile of kitten — or in a more polite manner, a piece of trash — so there’s no real reason to be grateful.

The minis gift they sent me is well received because they are worth something.

Okay, so it may or may not provide him any benefit. What would a rational, mature person do when faced with this situation? Delete it. Not come to the forums and whine and complain that they are offended and nonsense like that. It’s disgusting.

He has his opinion, you have yours.

Sorry but I lol’ed at the 1980 Armor and 12k HP.

You can’t DPS with this, but you sure can Burst then Dodge. You’re just too squishy.

So forget about “D/D full DPS” and start practicing as “D/D full Burst/Dodge” playstyle.

Using an illusion doesn’t make it a ‘fake speech’. They could create a mock-up speech as well, but… why bother, when it’s not sensitive information.

It further show how poor her quality as a leader is. Whether the information is sensitive or not, the dignitaries did not sent an illusion in their place, knowing the danger, out of respect to the Queen, yet the Queen did not offer the same courtesy.

As far as danger goes – she’s the most high profile target present, so in using an illusion rather than overt protection like some sort of shield (assuming such a thing would even have worked) she leaves killing ‘her’ a viable goal in the eyes of enemies, potentially drawing them out and wasting their efforts instead of redirecting them to less important but more easily accessible people. It may even have worked, except they probably didn’t expect the random from before had access to an army they could drop through portals.

A protective shield would’ve worked, we’ve seen it many times.

And are you really suggesting the leader of a nation – whose role is like… leading… not fighting – should risk her life, usefulness, and potentially the stability of the nation for no other gain than to prove she’s okay with that risk?

Why do you think world leaders goes into a high risk countries? Or why the Pope goes around in public knowing the risk? The same reason and Jenna doesn’t have that qualities.

Wasn’t she actually in a position much more similar to them than her illusion was? If anyone should really be offended at her right now it’s probably Faren. As for a pope-mobile… for all we know, pope-mobile vs crazy person with personal army may even be a somewhat accurate measure of how that would have turned out. You can believe they could have built a barrier impervious to attack and portals, but that information isn’t given to us as far as I’ve seen.

That’s why it’s unfortunate that the NPCs turned out to be incompetent and incapable given with all their power.

I can’t even tell if this is sarcasm or what anymore… we made some observations and brought him some crystals and he created a working portal device on the pavement in DR. If anything they made him seem like a freaking MacGyver of reverse engineering.

Did you forget this?
Emissary Vorpp: Of course. I know of this Scarlet. She earned advanced engineering degrees at each of Rata Sum’s colleges in record time.

From watchknight-related injuries (maybe). That still doesn’t tell us if they addressed the initial issue with them, or could reasonably have had any idea someone could hand-wave them into a whole other form.

That’s not the point. When something is as defective as the watchknight, it is common sense to stop using them immediately for the sake of public safety, until they can make sure that such “hacking” is no longer possible.

Pistol Mastery: -1 initiative weapon skill cost with pistols.

Then now we’re talking viability.

One problem with that idea: It would make D/P vastly stronger than what it already is. Black Powder is expensive for a reason.

And it will continue to be expensive because D/P will not benefit from picking up this Pistol Mastery over Furious Retaliation or Signets of Power, for example.

Portrayal of Males in Living Story

The ideal goal should be having both genders respresented well with neither coming at the expense of the other.

I can say this though, even if Logan’s character is well written, Anise will still dominate — she’s just that awesome of a character. This is evident in the human noble personal story where Logan has a very well written character.

My point is, just because Anise will still dominate, doesn’t necessarily mean that it was done in the expense of Logan — but can still be perceived to be that way in comparison.

So how exactly are you going to meet that “ideal goal”?

I can see how you arrived at that question given the wording I chose, but my perspective is it should be less of a mathematic equation than simply the overall balance. In every story there are going to be main characters and supporting characters. There are always going to be “good guys” and “bad guys.” Even in most couple scenarios, there is often going to be a more dominant person. It’s not so much that I’m saying that one characters portrayal can never be used as impetus for the other to stand out. It’s more that, if you look at the entire composition, you should not constantly be seeing the same trend consistently repeating itself as it currently is in GW2. It’s also important that even the “lesser” characters should be given their moments to shine. Every character, major or minor, should have a reason to exist beyond being there to make others look good in comparison.

But isn’t that what supporting characters are, to make the main character look good in comparison?

But I get what you’re saying because it reminds me of the Black Widow character and Agent Coulson and their role within the S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers and how well their characters were developed. Unfortunately, this is not the case in GW2.

We don’t know that, either. It’s entirely possible they did address (or attempt to address) flaws in the technology (or magic, or whatever) that made the first time possible. Note that initially she took control of them as they were – the second time she not only took control of them but physically changed them into different things. Whatever they may have done to secure the watchknights after she first showed up could have been addressing a totally different method of compromising them, or she may simply have undone it with whatever she used to alter their physical forms.

You simply do not continue to use an item or product that has been tampered with or known to be unsecured. That’s just common sense, which is lacking in this cinematic. Once you identified that the item or product is defected, you need to issue a massive recall…unless of course you simply just don’t care — which seems to be the case of the Queen.

Another thing… I~snip~
rom our perspective it might seem they’re more risk than a conventional army, but we don’t live in a world where some guy stabbing the ground with a sword can turn a nation into crazy blue ghosts, either.

That’s is why it is a test of character. Knowing fully well that the watchknight is at risk and can easily be manipulated by Scarlet that they simply ignore that fact and continue to use them anyway simply screams, “How stupid can you get?!”

Will you honestly continue to use your computer knowing that a bad guy can simply hack your security system and internal computer system and gain control of it while you’re online? Of course not. That is common sense. As a safety precaution, you either unplug the computer or take it offline. You try to secure it because if you cannot secure it, you’re not going to be able to get online with that computer ever again.

~snip~At this point it’s also highly likely she’s well able to build her own, given her understanding of them and the fact that they’re showing up all over Tyria (I mean just how many spares were sitting in DR anyway?). Depending on whether steam creatures are a separate development or some future derivative of watchknights (and if they are, modifying watchknights in our present and her past to be more secure from her could be entirely futile) she may also have sent those in as well. Taking them over instead of sending in her own versions, or steam creatures, may well have been little more than her dramatic way of showing she still could take them over.

I’m sure that it takes a long time to tamper with the watchknight and by shutting them down would have delayed her and gave the Asura time to properly secure them — but like I said, no effort was conducted to secure the watchknight.

Have you done these missions? The things he needs us to do in order to get through that portal seem very unlikely to have been possible earlier. We’re progressing in the research now because the things are being deployed all over the surface of the continent, and as a result the machines and the portals are much more widely available to study in the first place.

Do you honestly buy this pathetic excuse? Asura spies on each other, sabotage each other, and steal from each other. Hearing that an Asura is slowly progressing in research is laughable. This is another attempt to make an NPC incompetent so that we can have something to do.

So, ok, Scarlet is a super genius Sylvari, more the reason to spy, sabotage, and steal from her. Having that much credential and nobody is paying attention is very unlikely in the Asuran culture.

This means basically the whole thing is no longer open to the public and the point of having a speech at all is… questionable, at best.

And what about the emissaries?
~snip~
Even if their finding out was delayed long enough that the event itself had happened already, it could have problematic effects on diplomatic relations with the nations they represented, which itself isn’t exactly in the best interests of Kryta in general.

So it’s perfectly ok to have a fake Queen make a fake speech to these emissaries? This is one of the issue I pointed out in my initial post, the Queen shows a cowardly behavior instead of showing that she’s willing to face the danger personally. It’s not something a leader of a nation should do.

Imagine if the President of the US sent a look-a-like to make a speech in a foreign country then found out that it’s just a hoax. Talk about problem in foreign relations.

Is this a serious question? The whole point of precautions is that they can help if something goes wrong.
~snip~
In this case, the attack taking place was why we found out it was an illusion at all – if it hadn’t happened, as far as most people would know, it was just the queen giving a speech.

A precaution will have the Queen in a protective barrier, just like the “Pope-mobile.” Perpetrating a hoax to your important dignitaries while you’re tucked in safe somewhere and the dignitaries are in danger is not a precaution. That’s cowardice at it’s best and the leadership of the Queen in now questionable.

There is no way of knowing that. Even if they’d been aware (or guessed) she would make use of portals, we were only able to be sent through one after research conducted by Vorpp… which became possible in the first place because they had by then started using them all over the place, and we were able to gather the data he needed. Prior to the attack that would have been much less widely available, if at all, and I doubt if anyone Anise could have been sure was trustworthy at the time knew enough about that sort of thing to conduct the research. If they don’t even know how to use one, I seriously doubt they just have the ability to slam the door behind Scarlet et al once they arrive. Even now, during invasions, we aren’t directly shutting down portals, merely killing stuff coming through until the portal (or whatever generates it) runs out of energy.

He’s another NPC made incompetent just so we can play the hero. He knows so much about Scarlet’s work yet know nothing about her work at the same time. That’s just dumb.

Also weren’t they trying to enact an evacuation right about when everyone got annihilated? Again it’s something that should have (and seemingly was) in place simply for the sake of caution – but in hindsight, it probably would have been safer overall if everyone just scattered and fled randomly.

Shutting down the watchknights would have prevented a lot of people from dying.

I personally like P/P and have used it since beta. I always believe that Ricochet at 33% chance is simply broken…but then Anet made it 50% and I was, “No kitteng way!” I was really happy that they allowed a broken mechanic to exist.

I’m not complaining and I’m happy with 50%, but to suggest that it’s not enough…you have to be crazy.

I believe that AoE doesn’t belong to P/P set, let shortbow have that. What I want to see is more single target focus with a lot of damage.

What needs to change is this;
Pistol Mastery: +10% damage with pistols.

+10% damage is negligible, instead, make it;

Pistol Mastery: -1 initiative weapon skill cost with pistols.

Then now we’re talking viability.

What do you mean by “female second?” I hope it’s not some type of stereotype that in order to be identified as “female” you have to be like a damsel in distress stereotype.

Kinda the exact opposite. Instead of, “This character is female/male and happens to do stuff.” it’s “This character does stuff and happens to be male/female.”

Sort of a fine line to walk on. But when it’s crossed the wrong way for female characters, there tends to be a big hubbub over it. (“omg she giggled! Too girly!” or “OMG she cooked something! Stereotype!” or “OMG she has breasts?!?! Sexualization!”)

Which is weird, because when the line is crossed the wrong way with men it’s seen entirely differently. (“He’s so big and strong! That’s manly!”)

That’s different than “female second" because it was within the context of role (as in “Warrior first”) so I asked what role defines “female” so that we can place it “second”.

Eirsson means he’s Eir’s son. That’s all, and we covered this WAY long ago; as told to us and implied, norn culture is set up so you are expected to make your own glory rather than ride that of your parents. Which is what Braham is attempting to do, taking the opportunities he does.

I would disagree, I find Logan’s character the dominant one on the good side with the human commoner storyline.

I don’t know anything about the commoner story line but in the noble story line, Anise is taking the lead even though Logan has a very strong character especially when saving the orphanage.

I also find Rytlock actually comes off as a really good character when he isn’t kitten ing about Logan like a jilted ex.

I don’t think that character is exclusive to Rytlock because it seems that this character is shared among other charr, male or female, especially Tribune Desertgrave.

However! Rytlock identifies as a warrior first and male second, despite Steve Blum being the VA. I have no problem with this as most strong female characters in this game identify as female second as well.

What do you mean by “female second?” I hope it’s not some type of stereotype that in order to be identified as “female” you have to be like a damsel in distress stereotype.

If you’re suggesting they could’ve been diverted from protecting the ‘queen’ to these other people had they known she was an illusion, consider that they didn’t actually succeed in protecting that one illusion. In fact when it came to actual combat many of them were outright annihilated.

If Anise is willing to create an illusion to protect the Queen, that same protection can be extended to all the attendees. In my personal story, Anise has displayed a very powerful ability where she can create multiple clones of herself. Given that she also have the talent to create an illusion of the Queen, she can easily create illusions of the guests since she knows fully that an attack is more than likely to happen. If she’s not sure, then why even bother creating an illusion of the Queen?

If the information was shared with Seraph or a small number of trustworthy personnel, they could’ve setup a trap or a better evacuation plan.

Like I said, information was not shared, strategies were not discussed, so poor people of DR died.

I’m not seeing how that detracts from my point… especially considering they met with mixed success even given forewarning of the exact nature of the attack and target. In this case however nobody knew the nature of the attack, may or may not have been guessing at the most likely target, and could only have said (to the people who are supposed to be prepared for this regardless) that there may be some kind of attack. And given the incident at the pavilion earlier, I imagine they had their suspicions.

Losing control of a watchknight during the opening ceremony should’ve shattered all suspicions and actions should have been taken to insure that no further watchknight can be controlled. If that cannot be insured, then they should have decommissioned all watchknights due to risk of losing control and endangering the public. Isn’t public safety should have been first and foremost?

But nothing happened between the opening and the closing ceremony except for the kakameme plan of creating an illusion of the Queen.

It affects what you’re arguing about, because you take them as incompetent for not doing what’s being portrayed here as beyond their reasonable ability to do.

Really? “beyond their reasonable ability?”

How hard is it to decommission all defected unsecured watchknights?

Instead, they’ve done nothing…just so they can create a tragedy.

From the following missions we get sent on to enable Vorpp to figure out those portals, it’s clear that even the means by which they arrived is not widely available information.

This is what I’m taking about. Why is this being done now and not right after the initial indication that the watchknights are at risk of being controlled by the enemy? This only shows that these NPCs are made incompetent so that there’s something for us to do.

Being powerful doesn’t necessarily help if you have no idea what exactly you’re responding to, nor does it mean you’re just going to know that automatically unless you’re incompetent.

There are several safety measures that could’ve been taken into action if the information was shared and the matter was fully investigated. One of the safety measure, as I mentioned already, is decommissioning all watchknight until further notice.

Considering what little information they apparently had to work with at the time regarding Scarlet and whatever she wants, that they did actually succeed in protecting the queen from her is far from incompetence.

Little the amount of information that might be, but they are important one. One thing we all know for sure is that the watchknights can be controlled by the enemy…start from that. Secure the watchknights or decommission it. Second, there is a security breach and vigilance needs to be elevated, it’s not like Scarlet didn’t made herself known before hand. If it’s an ambush, then it’s understandable, but they have enough time to make preparation and be vigilant.

If the bombs was pulled off like how Mai Trin pulled off her assassination plan, then I cannot fault DR’s finest about it since it was completely unexpected and they are completely unaware — but Scarlet made herself known and showed that she can control the watchknights and having nothing done between the opening and the closing ceremony shows that these NPCs are made to be incompetent just so we, the PCs, can act as heroes. Very poorly executed and not a very satisfying moment. There’s nothing heroic in putting people in danger just so you can play hero and save them…that’s just evil.

No need to share the plan rather the information of an imminent attack. The threat was serious enough that they have to use illusion to protect the Queen. If Anise informed Logan, or at least some contingent of the Shining Blade, the people will be well protected.

Why? How? There were Seraph present; there were Shining Blade present. The people weren’t all that well protected, as it turns out.

That’s because some critical information was withheld.

That’s my point. Anise’s quality diminishes as well as Logan’s and the Queen’s characters. Anet made them incompetent just so they can proceed with the plan — big, big difference from who Anise and Logan was during the human personal story.

As I recall (at least) the commoner background had me decide which of two objectives to direct our main efforts toward – Seraph, at that – because it wasn’t feasible to deal with both effectively. In fact, that some random like me was even allowed to be involved in the kind of things I did in the personal story suggests they may not be overflowing with manpower. Hell, I saved a town just outside DR from centaurs, and then went to reinforce some fort where Logan himself had showed up to fight.

Even after you made your choice, he sent a small squad to assist the population while you deal with your main choice.

So yeah, I think it’s not unreasonable for them to expect, in a world of teleporting evil sylvari and illusionary people, that it’s simply not viable to protect people to the extent you seem to want of them.

That is not what I’m arguing about. Even if they fail to protect the people, at least show in the cinematic that they are not incompetent buffoons who doesn’t know what’s going on in the world. As I mentioned in my previous post, the quality of the characters are diminishing, especially the character of the Queen. In books and lore, she’s a very powerful Mesmer…yet incompetent? Something simply doesn’t add up.

Sure what happen to Lord Faren might be funny to some, but the fact that the Queen is not brave enough to make the speech in person is lame and a display of poor leadership and poor character. If there was such a threat that Anise has to do what she did, why allow a lot of innocent people to die instead of taking them to safety? Or atleast inform Logan so he can effectively protect the people?

What good would that do? They couldn’t be sure of the security in one relatively small area, there would be screw-all chance of preventing anyone capable of getting past that from attacking other targets all around the city if they merely felt like inflicting lots of civilian casualties. Anything overt would let the attackers either see it was a bad idea and wait for a better opportunity, or see it didn’t really matter and plan around it (if even necessary). It could even be used against them, like diverting guards and leaving some other targets vulnerable, or… using robot guards their enemy turns out to be able to control. Anything covert may well have the very same effect for all they know, which was basically the exact same thing Anise explained to Logan: they had no idea who could be trusted, and the most secure course of action is to inform as few people as the plan needs to work. In this case that was probably 2, which is about as lucky as they’d ever get.

No need to share the plan rather the information of an imminent attack. The threat was serious enough that they have to use illusion to protect the Queen. If Anise informed Logan, or at least some contingent of the Shining Blade, the people will be well protected.

What would they have told him, exactly? ’Something’s going to happen’? ‘Someone, or something, might attack’? If he wasn’t already prepared as well as he could reasonably be for vague threats to the queen or attendees, he’d have no business dealing with security anyway.

That’s my point. Anise’s quality diminishes as well as Logan’s and the Queen’s characters. Anet made them incompetent just so they can proceed with the plan — big, big difference from who Anise and Logan was during the human personal story.

Does a leveling guide exist

in Thief

Is this for level 80 to be more specific I’m looking for level breakdowns I.e 1-10 11-20 etc

There are many ways to level up from 1-80 so a guide that breaks down levels seems to be unnecessary. You can stay in the same zone running Dynamic Events back to back if you want to until you max the level of the zone, you can go to WvW to get a lot of free EXP just by running with a commander, etc.

But if you want to level up without fighting for your first few levels, I suggest that you visit each of the cities and explore it 100%, then go back to killing stuffs.

I never mention anything about “what it could’ve been” since there’s no way of knowing what would that be until we actually see it. So what exactly are you talking about here?

My initial post is simply pointing out that because of these ridiculous deadlines and rushed developments, the end result of Living Story/World is in poor quality in comparison to the initial release of GW2. Not only that the game play quality suffered, but also the presentation and character development suffers.

Poor, poor quality all the way around. This what happens when you cut corners – a lot of corners.

Now let that sink in before you reply.

OK, I let that sink in.

You have an opinion and a strong desire to share it. I think you’re silly.

As a matter of fact, the ability to use an illusion for a speech like that is brilliant, and if we had the technology today to do something similar you’d see it done irl too. I credit Anise with a cold yet brilliant mind, doing what she thinks is right and doing it the way she chooses because everyone else is too stupid to come up with a better idea. I see her as the anti-Logan, the unemotional face of the same coin that protects the Queen.

I also think that even though she took cautions against something happening no one foresaw the bombs, which is unfortunate. As for not informing Logan, why would she need to inform that emotional clod? Sure he’s a good enough fighter, designed to destroy the Queen’s enemies, but he’s hardly the type to be trusted with every secret that needs being kept.

That, sinking it in?

I guess never mind the poor character of the Queen who only saves herself and let her people die…including children.

Now we really know how humanity had survived, by sacrificing its own people. The kind of leader that defines a tyrant that is something I don’t expect coming from the Queen of Kryta.

And speaking of Logan, why the heck are they making him an emotionally obsessed fanboy of the Queen? The quality of his character is also diminishing and the role of the Seraphs are now confusing. When leveling up my human character, I was under the impression that the Seraph it to protect the people, not to seek out the enemies of the throne — I guess Anise is redefining their role and Logan is ok with this? Who made her the Captain of the Seraph?

Yes, sacrifice more people of Kryta and call it content, never mind the quality of the characters and the story.

Seriously, what is the big rush?

Each team has a fixed amount of development time and limited resources to build the contents of a Living World release. Sometimes things get cut or changed because of constraints or other circumstances. Our ship dates for LW don’t usually change.

i think what bobby is trying to say is “there will always be deadlines, and there will always be things that don’t make the final cut”.

As I mentioned in my initial post, Anet were the one who insisted on releasing content when they believe that it is done and looking at the release of GW2, it was well done. Now compare that to everything post-release, you’ll see a big shift in this philosophy, it’s like a completely different company with different goal and different mindset.

I don’t even recognize “this” Anet anymore as the days goes by.

if you would direct your attention to GW2’s launch, you’d have seen that a lot of features were still missing, even after 5 years of development.

the first rule of game development: there will always be something that doesn’t make the deadline. games can’t be in development forever.

I thought quality is the first rule, but I digress.

the sooner you understand this, the sooner you’ll be able to go back to enjoying the content for what it’s worth, rather than what it could’ve been with unlimited time and resources.

I never mention anything about “what it could’ve been” since there’s no way of knowing what would that be until we actually see it. So what exactly are you talking about here?

Learning Curve on Thief: Opinions

in Thief

Posted by: Sir Vincent III.1286

Sir Vincent III.1286

If you played GW1, Thief is the easiest to play since most of the mechanics in GW1 are brought into GW2 through the Thief profession.

The initiative resource is akin to the energy resource in GW1 so those who played GW1 knows how to budget this kind of resources, so the learning curve is not too bad. Survivability is also akin to Assassins in GW1 so the most important aspect of survivability is to limit the number of hits taken by being evasive.

I can understand if the Thief profession is harder to grasp for those who have not played GW1. And one thing missing in GW2 is an actual in-game profession trainer who guides players on what their profession is all about and to show them simple skill combinations to stimulate player creativity.

Make them all painterly?

Isn’t that why the personal story has the stylised conversations?

That was the original plan, but a variety of factors led to the decision of shortening the painterly cinematic and doing the rest via the in-game systems.

In my honest opinion and with all due respect to the team who put it together, I don’t believe that this is something you guys can be proud of. The decision is poor which delivered poor quality and I hate to see the game that I love slowly deteriorating in quality. Are you guys really satisfied in releasing this kind of content?

The way I see it, you gave 1000% in pre-LS GW2, which convinced me to buy the game and pour money into the Gem Store, but gave only 75% post-release, which now I’m having doubts if I still want to play this game.

I know that I will get bashed for this and I might even get banned, but the topic is asking for opinion and this is my honest one.

I’m just confused of the sudden change in philosophy coming from the team who kept on repeating “we’ll release it when it’s done” (para.) pre-release to now deliver an obvious half-done unpolished contents.

Seriously, what is the big rush?

D/P is superior to D/D in every single way in the current meta.

I can’t quite agree to this statement. Obviously D/P has a better variety and offers more diversity when it comes to adapting to a situation. But the initial Burst potential is higher with D/D than with D/P.

He’s talking about within the context of the “current meta”, whatever that is, so you can practically ignore it for the most part.

Other than D/P having the best gap closer, I also disagree that it is “superior that D/D in every single way.”

What does D/D offer that compares with a ranged interrupt and an AoE blind field?

What advantage does D/D have over D/P in a power/crit setup?

Given that you have to ask those questions will only lead to an unproductive discussion.

But for you to claim that D/P is “superior to D/D in every single way” is enough to know that no matter what is presented that you already made up your mind in that regards. So what’s the point of asking me those questions when in fact that there are many things that D/D can do that D/P cannot, which proof that D/P IS NOT superior to D/D in every single way. In most situation, perhaps.

iPsychO if I can recomment it, try putting your bleed duration either at +50% (you need 5% more) or reduce to 25% and reinvest in something useful. from 26 to 49% duration, the effect is exactly the same for all your Pistol Bleeds (not for the caltrops where you need either 33% or 66%, but most of your bleed damage will come from the pistol, and the dodgedrops are also 4 seconds so they benefit form 25 or 50%).

You’re better off in increasing the Condition Damage of bleed than trying to squeeze another tick from it. Extending the condition duration of a damaging condition is a waste of stats.

The OP had it right.

While I think we’ve already had this dicusssion, once you reach a good amount of condition damage, it’s much better to get extra seconds (to increase your damage by 25 or 50% even if it comes 1 or 2 seconds later but condition builds are meant to stay for a bit longer anyway) than trying to get every extra condition damage you can for +5-10% condition damage over what you already have in comparison.

If I have to chose between +5-10% damage, or +50% damage with the extra build up starting to trigger 2 seconds later (but once it does all the damage is accelerated and at the end kills much faster than that +5-10% unless that somehow that other set killed in less than 2 seconds) I chose the later. You have to take into consideration where your current condition damage is and if investing more on it will make a bigger difference over getting full extra ticks.

When it comes to bleed, all that is matter is how much damage you’re dealing per second and how many stacks can you apply.

Too focus on getting an extra tick that you’re sacrificing other important stats that your condition duration is currently taking up.

It doesn’t have to be “bad guys” per se, Anet just need to got back to the main concept of the Order having different methods in dealing with the dragons. So those who are not part of the same Order, they can be perceived as “bad guys” just like how members of each Orders used to perceive each other.

The Orders don’t perceive each other as bad guys. They are well aware of the fact that each one of them in the end tries to save Tyria from ruin. They are mostly stubbornly annoyed with one another as to why the other two parties involved cannot see that their own plan to attack or carry out a mission is vastly superior.

Thief ranged - How is it?

Weapon Sets
P/P, regardless of the negatives towards it, is the only weapon set we have that is better at single target ranged attacks. With the recent improvement to Ricochet, it seems that it also became viable handling a small group mob. SB will always be the best AoE ranged weapon in a massive scale situation.

Some people may argue that SB is the best, but whatever, SB is horrible because it is not flexible. With P/P, if I want to AoE, I can turn on Ricochet, if I don’t, I simply turn it off. With SB, AoE or go home…no flexibility.

So people can talk about how bad P/P is, but the fact is, that’s all we have and I have already explain why I personally do not like SB in non-AoE situation.

Playstyle
I have only seen one person who can be very mobile when using an SB, most of the SB users I’ve seen are “turrets” spamming cluster bombs. >.>’ boooring!

So, when it comes to extreme mobility, SB is the best choice because once you master this weapon, you can be very mobile.

P/P’s playstyle relies heavily on Cripple since there is no gap generator skill in the set like the #3 in SB. It also synergize with the use of Caltrops and Signet of Malice, but the best heal skill for P/P is Withdraw. Basically any skill that provides a gap is good for this set. In my P/P build, I always bring both Withdraw and Roll for Initiative.

Personal Wishlist
I like to see either a Rifle or an Arbalest added as a ranged weapon to the Thief’s arsenal.
