Just saying, this change is a huge playstyle nerf for the balanced thief. Possibly killing the build all together…

I think the “balanced” thief will be a thing of the past and from now on you are either playing condition or glass.

This change hurts build diversity and lessens the value of all “stealth” traits. I didn’t see any buffs from ANet to our class in compensation for the huge nerf.

I honestly think that the “balanced” thief will be a thing of the past now because of this change.

What about sPvP thieves? For real, with the nerf in spvp thieves will be free points. The second they come out of stealth and I know their stun break is down they are eating HB+frenzy+bull charge. As it is now, thieves are pretty easy to beat in spvp. After change I think thieves won’t have a place in spvp.

EDIT: I’m not trying discuss the change itself but rather what people are thinking about changing to adapt to it. I think the change is kitten and shouldn’t an issues. I would have told all the QQers “L2P”, but ANet listened to you. You have already won. I am trying to learn to live with it.

err…if a warrior bull charge, steal from his teammate to get out of range…yes you can activate steal while KD’d. Besides, what’s your teammate doing allowing a thief engage first? sigh

Please, use examples from smart thieves, not from bad ones, because it only further reinforcae the fact that this change will weed out the baddies.

Thieves should ignore block

To that end, I’m suggesting all (or almost all) thief abilities do some percentage of their listed damage through block. Each ability could have a different % (for balance reasons, and to make some skills better than others for dealing with bunkers who constantly block). That’s where thieves belong – standing behind their target, sliding the dagger into their back through a gap in their armor – not just beating on them as hard and as fast as they can.
snip
What do you guys think?

In as much as I want my thief (main prof) to be able to do as you suggested, I have to disagree because it will diminish the value of blocking.

Blocking should be a guaranteed negation of damage, if not, then it becomes a useless boon and your suggestion will make it that — useless.

Besides, there’s already a lot of thief skills that can waste blocks, for example, Dancing Daggers. As for a stance block, like Shield Stance, just wait it out and heal yourself.

Your suggestion is totally unnecessary for those Thieves who use their brain. Your suggestion only favor those who mindlessly attacking their target even when block and retaliation is up. :/

That’s where thieves belong – standing behind their target, sliding the dagger into their back through a gap in their armor

That feature is already in the game in term of Critical Hits, which also counts for the fact that the target might be wearing a chain mail under their armor.

Stealth is not the only utility that Thieves have. Most of our weapon skills provide evasion on top of our normal dodge. My thief will not be affected that much by this change.

Fractal Skins

Solution #1:

Allow players to purchase the skins.

It seems that this is more likely given that they have also added a way to spend excess Karma and this way is more consistent with other dungeon specific skin that you can purchase with tokens.

I don’t know why they didn’t do this with Fractals. :/

Ranger in Dungeons?

Zoef:

“My point is that ranger does both which makes the class a valuable supporting class. "

It does not bring enough support to compensate for the loss of dps. Ill budge on that conclusion if you can provide some things that you can do to keep people alive. 1 water field is not enough.

The loss of DPS is situational and often times it is dangerous for melee DPSers to get close to deal damage, and that’s where Ranger DPS shines and no other class can out DPS a Ranger from a distance.

In an encounter where melee is necessary (i.e. Dredge factal taking down flame turrets), a Ranger can switch to GS and still be effective in comparison to other range DPS.

The point is moot about loss of DPS because I’ve seen other professions having a hard time adjusting to maintain their DPS. While a warrior using a rifle because they can’t get close to the target, they are doing horrible DPS…same goes with Guardians using, what, scepter, staff? Where’s the DPS in that? And this is just fighting a Cave Troll in Queensdale.

Fractal Chest Loot vs. World Boss Chest Loot

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Harder content should reward better loot. Reward players for playing well and beating harder content. That’s really all I can say on this topic anymore.

That’s about all there really was to say from the beginning, probably.

Isn’t it that higher level fractals already have access to “better loot” not available in lower level fractals nor in World Boss chest?

The definition of “better loot” is undefined and fully subjective.

Having access into getting Ascended Items and Fractals item is, to me, a better loot than the vendor trash I get in most of the World Boss events.

Fractal Chest Loot vs. World Boss Chest Loot

It will be significantly noticeable given time. The repeatability of Fractals will flood the market with rares (kinda defeat the term “rare”) and it affects the market in a negative way. Then once the price of rare drops, and your rare is valued as much as green, what then?

I am simply providing a perspective based on the discussion topic.

While I do appreciate the value of different perspectives, I guess I just have a hard time agreeing with your point.

We’ve seen ectos drop how much from the world boss chest buff – 15s? I think they were like 40s at their peak, and when I checked last, they were at something like 25s.

Buffing fractal chests, imo, would only drop that by maybe a few silver more, although it would be difficult to discern (on our end) between that hypothetical change, and the continued saturation of rares and exotics from world boss chests.

The volume of full groups completing high level fractals, as compared to the stunning mass of players doing world bosses every day on every server, just cannot compare.

If we are to use the market result of the recent update on rare drops in World Boss chest, we can assess the effect of added rares coming from Fractals and how that would affect the market.

John Smith could then determine, using more information but largely the same logic I just used, whether or not improving Fractals loot would have a significant or problematic impact on the economy.

My argument is that it wouldn’t be, and that it would sufficiently reward players of difficult content. That is a very good thing.

Again, I have to agree with Rising Dusk.

The ratio of effort to reward is simply skewed after the last patch. I’m not asking for world boss chests to be nerfed already. I’m just saying it would be nice for fractal runners to see a similar buff to their chests, seeing as how fractals – especially at higher levels – are clearly a greater challenge.

It would be interesting to hear Smith, or one of the other Devs weigh in on this, if even only to counter our points as you – Sir Vincent – have been.

The buff on the chest can mean several things. You meant frequency of the same item, but it could also mean variety of similar item or items of equal value. There’s also the achievement as the reward, not many players can reach 30-40 level fractals.

But never mind all that, if the goal is to make money, of course the practical approach is to do it with less effort.

Fractal Chest Loot vs. World Boss Chest Loot

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Sir Vincent III.1286

Whether it is easy or difficult to get a rare, the value of it is still dependent on its quantity and ease of acquisition.

If you are testifying that this is how simple to get a rare, then the problem lies with the World Boss chest and not with the Fractal chest.

I think they will have to because as I mentioned above, the quantity of rares had cut the value of Ectos to almost 50%….unless of course this is intentional. :/

This is actually wrong. The value is dependent on two factors: how desirable the item is for any reason, and how many of the items exist and are being sold. When they added more rares to the supply via the world chests, this significantly reduced the value of a rare (and consequently an ecto). Doing the same for fractals chests, I would argue, would not have the same effect due to the much greater difficulty of Fractals (even low levels) compared to a world boss. World bosses are essentially incapable of being failed, and are completed by thousands upon thousands of players potentially dozens of times a day. Fractals take more time by a significant margin and are much more difficult (even low levels of fractals can result in failure for bad or significantly upleveled players). This means that if each Fractal chest at, say, levels 1-25 gave 1 rare and each chest at, say, 26-50 gave 2 rares, you would not be significantly increasing the supply by nearly as much as was increased by world events. Since neither of these actions appreciably changes the demand of rares, only the supply, the net result would be a much less noticeable drop in value of the rares (and consequently ecto).

It will be significantly noticeable given time. The repeatability of Fractals will flood the market with rares (kinda defeat the term “rare”) and it affects the market in a negative way. Then once the price of rare drops, and your rare is valued as much as green, what then?

You make the false assertion that there is anything wrong with any of this. Au contraire, John Smith (ANet’s resident economist) has specifically approved in his domain on the forums of the change and has predicted the market swings as a result. Nothing “bad” has happened; it is exactly as was intended. John Smith could then determine, using more information but largely the same logic I just used, whether or not improving Fractals loot would have a significant or problematic impact on the economy.

I never said that the negative impact is “bad”. I even speculated that it might be Anet’s intension all along. Although it saddens me to see the value of my ectos goes down, on the other hand, I am also glad that I can afford them.

My argument is that it wouldn’t be, and that it would sufficiently reward players of difficult content. That is a very good thing.

I am simply providing a perspective based on the discussion topic. If Anet believes that your perspective is a “very good thing”, then their will be done. Nothing more I can say after that, but IMO, the Fractals difficulty level balance is out of whack, especially cliffside.

AC Path1 Burrows Question - Guardian

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Sir Vincent III.1286

Split the group in two, one that does one side (and doesn’t move from that side), the other group starting by destroying the mid burrow and making its way into the right side and you won’t have to defend anything.

“Defend hodgins” is what you do when your group has no idea what they’re doing.

Interesting strategy.

And you’re right, but it seems that the perspective of where the advice is coming from is for PUGs and new to the dungeon. Also keep in mind that “defending hodgins” can be a faster way depending on the group composition. Warrior + guardian Might stacking comes to mind, so spliting is not always the best way. Four people damaging the burrow is better than 2-3 people split in some cases.

Ranger in Dungeons?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Sir Vincent III.1286

Sir Vincent III.1286

I think the reason people are saying this is because the pet generally makes up close to 50% of the dps. The pets die easily apparently in dungeons, so there goes half of your dps. Or your either pulling them in and out of combat.. again, your pulling half of your dps out of combat sometimes.

If the Ranger build beastmaster then that might be true, but that is just poor Ranger build. Marksmanship + shortbow gets the DPS job done with dead or alive pet.

I personally only use my pet as utility skill. Take the Fernhound for example, I sends him in to pounce my taget for KD then pull him back. Since I’m not spec BM, his DPS is not necessary. My pet is always in passive and I put him away when we’re not in combat to avoid unnecessary aggro.

I think that players just need to play the professions more and in time learn from mistakes, otherwise they will never know how to play a Ranger.

I leech these events by going afk, and God knows how many other people do it too (I see dozens doing the same thing every event). The only exceptions are for things like Teq with his Fear where you have to run back afterward. For something like the Shatterer, I auto-attack and then go make a sandwich.

You cannot do this with Fractals (and if you try, you get kicked from your group).

Whether it is easy or difficult to get a rare, the value of it is still dependent on its quantity and ease of acquisition.

If you are testifying that this is how simple to get a rare, then the problem lies with the World Boss chest and not with the Fractal chest.

Or it’s a problem with the Fractal chest because it doesn’t offer enough rewards for the challenge, compared to the AFK Boss chests. You can see this in two distinct ways. IF the AFK Boss chests were indeed problematic someone would think that by now they would’ve fixed them, no?

I think they will have to because as I mentioned above, the quantity of rares had cut the value of Ectos to almost 50%….unless of course this is intentional. :/

Fractal Chest Loot vs. World Boss Chest Loot

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Sir Vincent III.1286

Hm. In a way I get your point, but at the same time, higher level fractals are supposed to reward better loot outside of just the fractal skins. Hypothetically they do, but the point you’re making is that you can run lower level fractals easier, and with more frequency, thus imbalancing the supposed fractal loot ladder.

But they do get better reward, not only from drops but also from the vendor. I don’t believe that you get items in higher frequency the higher you get, but instead you get more things the higher you get.

For example;
Basically, if you do level 5, you get item A at 10% chance. But if you do level 50, not only you get item A at 10% chance, but also can get item B at 10% chance.

Do you see what I mean?

Maybe not so much AFKable, as ALT-TABable. You can park in the mob at Tecuddle’s feet, put on auto-range, alt-tab, browse the web a little, whatever, come back, pop a heal skill maybe (if you downed, someone will probably rez you, don’t worry), make sure your auto attacks are still firing… same with the Shatterer (although he has some serious lag problems that make him basically unplayable right now anyway). Jormag as well, to a degree (although you should really be helping take out those ice pillars in phase two), though that one requires a bit more repositioning. Jormag also happens to be the most tempting to get your damage in, then kinda just thumb your nose while people take down the ice walls and 1 their charzookas away.

I think the point is that when we say the bosses are ‘AFKable’ we mean that there is no challenge. It’s boring, it’s tedious, it’s easy, but it’s free loot that you feel like you’re missing out on if you don’t do them.

I never like the World Boss fight so I don’t feel like I’m missing out. If I happen to be in the area when it’s up, then I’ll participate. Otherwise I have better things to do than fry my GPU for the next 3hrs.

And I know what you meant that is why the appropriate term is “leechable” because someone else has to make the effort in getting things done while you’re nodding your head in boredom. When I’m in a World Boss fight, I attack, buff, heal, rez, etc. And you rely to players like me to do all these that’s why you get bored.

And, you know, I don’t know if I hate Jormag or the Cliffside Fractal more.

Jormag is easy, but tedious, long, and mind-numbingly boring. Cliffside is the same, except it’s not as easy, and carries the danger of wiping your fractal run if someone screws up on the arm seals.

And, by that token, Cliffside should be more rewarding, right? But it’s not… you hardly get anything off the mobs, since most of them are respawners, and the chest has that chance of blues and greens.

It seems to me that the chest reward is the same across the board in one fractal instance. So having level 4 dredge-cliff-swamp has same loot as level 4 aquatic-urban-snow but the difficulty level is way far from each other.

So if there is something to change, the difficulty level should be normalized instead rather than giving more reward.

Logically, the harder thing should be more rewarding. Right now, it’s not.

I agree. But it seems that what you want is, if you get item A at 10%, you want item A at 10%+ the higher you get instead of having item A 10%, then unlock item B at 10%, then item C, etc.

But again, I get it – you’re saying it’s not logical, but that’s just how it is.

And we’re saying: “Devs! Please hear us! This is not logical and should be changed!”

No, what I’m saying is that, the design follows a certain logic that is not something we consider as logical.

Logical to us:
level 1 = item A at 10%
level 11 = item A at 11%
….

Their logic:
level 1 = item A at 10%
level 11 = item A at 10%, item B at 10%
….

See what I mean?

The fallacy in your reply outweighs your allegation of my fallacy.

Start event… use skill1… go make coffee while you wait for your rares, it shouldn’t take more than 3-5 minutes anyway, that’s how fast they are. I hope you like my explanation as to how the afk bosses work. I don’t mean just stand in their likely spawn location and go afk but go afk after you start your auto attack, still no effort or actual player interraction is needed, other than pressing 1 on your keyboard after the boss spawn.

Hardly a convincing explanation especially with Tequa’ and the Claw of Jormag fights. The Shatterer, possibly, but not the other dragons.

If you are chasing rare skins, then that is in its own reward. But it make perfect sense to just run lower level fractals if you are after rare/exotic drops or just want to make a couple of golds.

But… this…

I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

With higher difficulty should come greater reward. Isn’t that how fractals were supposed to work from the beginning?

No, I agree. I mentioned above that I don’t find it logical either but that’s how it is.

If we use the Hall of Monument reward for example, there’s no greater reward pass 30 points other than titles which is comparable to having a rare fractal skin.

The fallacy in your reply outweighs your allegation of my fallacy.

I am compelled to note that this, itself, is a logical fallacy.

But you’re not suppose to get that

I am also compelled to note that world bosses are essentially AFKable because of auto-attack and the number of players doing them. I have done this myself repeatedly.

If it is AFKable, then why not more people just go AFK? I think you meant to say is that, it is “LEECHABLE”.

Here’s what I don’t understand. Why run 30+ fractals netting 1-2 rares when you can run 10-below fractals and get the same or better number of rares?

The main reason I run 30+ instead of lower fractal levels, are for those tasty, elusive fractal skins. They drop from l. 20 up, and supposedly have a better chance to drop as you get higher in difficulty.

If I only have time for one fractal, it’s going to be the higher level then.

Unfortunately, fractal skins are pretty rare, and chances are you’ll get a ring you don’t need, or nothing. You might get a few decent drops on the way, but there’s also a good chance you won’t, as others have mentioned.

In other words, while ‘the journey itself should be the reward,’ when you’ve made that journey hundreds of times already, and it only gets harder, a tangible, guaranteed reward is really the carrot you’re chasing at the end of that stick.

With relics pretty much worthless after a point, and fractal skins (especially the ones you want) unlikely, it would be nice to have a guaranteed rare in a chest at least, so you don’t feel like your time would have been better spent AFK’ing a world boss.

Like I said before, something’s got to give.

If you are chasing rare skins, then that is in its own reward. But it make perfect sense to just run lower level fractals if you are after rare/exotic drops or just want to make a couple of golds.

Fractal needs to be more rewarding, I agree, but not in terms of looting the chests — since it is fine IMO becuase a big chunk of rewards comes from a lot of loot from mob drops.

This is false. Few players run 40+ with magic find of any use and it won’t make much of a difference anyway. Compare the loot from running 3 hours of afk bosses with 4 characters with a 3 hour fractal run… the afk bosses will net more rewards in the end.

Not to mention that you might not even finish the Fractal run in the first place, it’s not like you can afk those, you are actually playing.

For one thing, yes magic find is useful for getting loot, but if I find out somebody is using magic find gear in my 35 fractals group I would ask him to put another set on or get kicked for not contributing to the group and expecting to be carried through difficult content and essential leeching off the group. You lose so many stat points when using it than any other set basically gimping your group. Magic find is a selfish stat and should be left at super easy dungeons and open world pve.

Something has to give.

If you want loot, then magic find is the key. If you want damage output + survivability, then put up your best gear.

But if a single grain can tip a scale, then clicking on the Magic Find banner, using a Magic Find booster, and eating a Magic Find food can still better your chances without sacrificing your gear’s efficiency.

Many people believe that even 1% matters.

As for loot that comes from mobs, a lot of my runs in 30+ fractals have yielded only 1-2 rares INCULDING mob drops. The mob drop table does not appear to be that much better than other dungeons and definitely don’t get better with level, the only difference is that are so much more of them and they hit harder. The only profitable fractal where mobs consistently drop better loot appears to be the dredge where they have a chance at dropping miner’s bags, maw for venom, and harpies for blood. None of them have a better drop of rares/exotics that I know about. And it’s so much easier to do a dungeon, get money and buy the mats than having a small chance at them in fractals.

Here’s what I don’t understand. Why run 30+ fractals netting 1-2 rares when you can run 10-below fractals and get the same or better number of rares?

Just last night, one fractal run, I got 4 rares — fractal level 4.

If there’s a logic there, I don’t know, but why suffer in high level when low level gives better reward?

Sure you can argue that you want challenge, but then that is now outside the scope of this discussion.

I love fractals because they are fun if you have a good group. however i’m tired of spending over an hour doing something and end up with a net increase in 30s from all my efforts.

IMO fractals is still better source of gold than dungeons or World Boss — at level 4 fractals, 1hr nets about 1.5gold — so your 30s is rather an exaggeration.

The only form of reward that my guild are going for are the relics for their backpiecs. after that, they will probably not run them anymore.

Then find other people who run fractals constantly.

Fractal rewards are terribly broken right now and are much too RNG dependent (account bound/random stat exotics are just cruel, how often have you gotten excited seeing the orange just to be let down by something you can’t use or sell). Even the factual weapon drops can be made so much better by implementing a fractal weapon token so you aren’t being dumped weapons you already have or weapons you can’t use.

Yeah I’ve gotten that feelings many times in AC because the exotics there has Monk Runes. :/

But I do agree that the item shop for fractals needs improvement, for which we buy get items for token in case that item didn’t drop.

7 months later still no LFG search

Sir Vincent III.1286

7 months after the game has been released and I still have to visit a 3RD party website to find a dungeon group. Honestly this should be top priority on the update list not laurels and living 3achievement story.

Everytime it gets brought up “a team is hard at work blah blah blah” how about you step up and actually get it done because this is one of the most important updates this game needs to survive.

If you successfully ran 2-3 dungeons with other players, then you should have atleast 4-12 players in your Friends list.

Part of being “social”, as you mentioned, in GW2 is keeping good players you played with in the past in your friends’ list and run a dungeon with them again later.

The fact that you’re not keeping friends is hardly ANET’s fault if you choose not to be “social” regardless of how they advertized the game.

Your friends’ list is a great LFG tool.

AC Path1 Burrows Question - Guardian

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Sir Vincent III.1286

Sir Vincent III.1286

In a run last night for AC path 1 we tried splitting the group up into 4 attacking the burrows and me (guardian) protecting Hodgins.

I tried to guard him twice, but could not keep the mobs off him. I know this is possible so there is something I am not doing right.

What is the most effective way to protect Hodgins in this part? Kiting? Use wards? L2P?

Any constructive feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Keep in mind that the mobs will choose the closest target and with this in mind, tank the mobs away from Hodgins, typically behind him.

When I use my Guardian in AC1, I used sword/shield combination and a hammer off set. The sword allows me to teleport to a target for better kiting. The shield allows me to be more durable and to push mobs away from Hodgins. The hammer allows me to create a circular ward around Hodgins and home-run-swings away the troublemakers (hint: breeders).

If I am in a group with majority Warriors, I switch my hammer to staff and give everyone a huge stack of might on top of their FGJ buffs — makes destroying the burrows a lot faster.

Fractal Chest Loot vs. World Boss Chest Loot

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Sir Vincent III.1286

Sir Vincent III.1286

Anyway, as we all know, World Boss Chests have been buffed. Hurray, right? Now everyone can get a number of rares each day with very little effort, seeing as each chest seems to almost guarantee at least one rare, with a chance at an exotic – supposedly even a precursor.

This is only one chance per day per character. I guess depends on how you look at it, but I see that as a nerf than a buff. The consequences of this “guaranteed rare” can be seen in the Trading Post where the price of Ectos had dropped to almost 50% since this was implemented.

If the rares are easier to get, your money making machine will not be making you money for long. The increase of rares’ acquisition rate actually have a negative impact in the market.

[EDIT] I should also mention here, that any exotic found in a Fractal Chest is account bound, unlike Exotics in World Boss chests. This means that if you don’t Alt, and it’s not a weapon your classes uses, your only choice is to salvage it, or save up 4 to toss in the Mystic Forge, for 1 exotic that isn’t account bound, and can be sold. Thus, another perk to World Chests vs. Fractal Chests.

As I’ve mentioned, the price of the exotic is relative to the rate of their acquisition. The easier it is to get them, the lower their price becomes and the less money you can sell them for. Just look at the price of the Legendary items, they all dropped in price since more and more people have them.

Unfortunately, that makes Fractals somewhat less attractive. To do all the usual world bosses, it takes about the same time as 1 – 2 fractal runs, depending on how timers line up. Fractals, as we all know, are much more challenging. They take skill, coordination, a knowledgeable group, and a steady chunk of uninterrupted time – usually 1 – 2 hours, depending on what fractals you get, and the efficiency of your party. World Bosses, for the most part (Orr excluded), require you to stand in one place and bash your face against the keyboard. It is what it is, and free loot isn’t something to complain about.

In terms of chest loot, I do agree. But Fractals’ reward is not just from chest loot. Your chances of getting a rare or exotic also applies on looting mobs where your magic find bonuses is a huge factor.

Where the disparity between world boss loot and fractal loot really becomes clear, however, is in the upper level fractals. I know RNG is RNG, but I ran a 30+ the other day, and landed one rare during the whole period. Not a huge deal, but still – when you open a 30+ chest, and find only blues and greens inside, it’s kind of a bummer.

You are not mentioning your loots from mob drops, in a sense, those are like mini loot chest with an improved loot quality depending on your Magic Find bonuses.

It just seems like Fractal Chests – at least in the upper tiers – should be buffed similar to the world bosses, considering the amount of effort it takes to gear up and get into those higher fractal levels, vs. the amount of effort it takes to zerg stomp a world boss.

Thoughts?

Fractal needs to be more rewarding, I agree, but not in terms of looting the chests — since it is fine IMO becuase a big chunk of rewards comes from a lot of loot from mob drops.

After reading all the replies, people seems to be missing the point.

I agree that you may see what ANET is doing as legal and not gambling — several States agrees with you.

But to other States that do not share your definition of gambling strongly disagree, that is why it is illegal in their States.

Someone can gauge the value of something and someone else can out right disagree with that value, thus value is not the issue here.

Someone mentioned that items can be purchased with in-game money, but that is not the issue either — it is about what you get when you spend REAL money.

I hope that clears things a little and I am hoping that ANET will do the right thing and make it fair.

Dungeon Merch Purchases to Account Bound ???

Runes of the Dungeons, ( monk, forge, etc. ) are soulbound on acquire.

Since you can’t sell them, just like gathering tools, can you do what you did with those and make them account bound?

I just bought a Superior Rune of the Monk with my engineer and wanted to use it on my guardian… and I can’t. I missed the soulbound on aquire. That’s my fault.

But I was still disappointed to see that I needed to buy it with my Guardian. What’s the point of that?

It doesn’t soulbind the tokens so why soulbind items you can buy with them?

Now it’s useless to me, cost me 120~ AC tears, and now I’m depressed. Again my fault… but got me thinking what the point actually is?

( Sorry if this was already mentioned )

Thanks for reading.

Not only the purchasable runes, but also runes you get from loot.

I just picked up a Superior Rune of the Monk with my Thief…now I’m thinking that I should have brought my Guardian.

Kinda lame that it is not Account Bound, instead of Soul bound, like other non-tradable items.

I REALLY don’t appreciate fighting a boss, namely Gangantula, and bringing it down to 5% only to watch it go invulnerable and regen all health back 100%.

I HATED AND DO NOT appreciate being surrounded under water and fighting a good fight and thinking that I am actually gonna pull it off only to see the mobs go invulnerable and regen and kill me.

THIS IS FEATURE NOT FUN ANET!!!

My question is, why do creatures behave this way?

Why do even have such feature in the first place? A feature that only bring grief to players?

The OP is kinda solving the wrong problem here. If a utility is more appealing than the Elite, then the problem is the Elite skill. So allowing a utility to replace an Elite doesn’t solve this “weak Elite skill” problem – it only sweeps it under the rug.

So instead, in my opinion, either Anet re-balance the Elite skill or create new ones that is slightly stronger that the utility of your choice. They created an Elite like this in GW1 (a stronger version of the weaker one) so therefore they can make it again.

(Another) Waypoint Cost Thread

I salvage all my gear and keep all of the mats, I even buy crafting mats from TP to continue to max out my two trade skills. I’m level 73 and never have a problem affording the cost of WPs even if I’m shooting from the Grove to the Iron Marches. One and a half silver isn’t bad.

Once you hit level 80, that travel, for some reason, will cost you more, around 2s 50c.

My personal beef with the way point cost is not about the way point cost, it’s the reason why I use the way point.

Currently, when a skill challenge bugged, I have to skip that challenge and wait for a fix. With no indication in the world map, eventually I lose track of all the area with 99%, so I have to WP in each place to check if they are fixed. Checking multiple places burns a hole in my pocket due to the cost of WP.

If a world map indicator is created, I personally wouldn’t mind the current WP cost.

So in my case, either lower the WP cost or create a world map indicator showing which areas are 99% complete.

Thieves & Rifles: Snipers.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Sir Vincent III.1286

Sir Vincent III.1286

Currently, the Engineer has the most range using rifles (rifle range + traits) and I personally like to keep it that way.

My main is a thief and long range is not what the profession is all about. If you need to get in and get out, use the shortbow to shadow step closer, switch to your melee weapon, do your combo, switch back to shortbow to get out – or use stealth, whatever.

At this point, is there would be a sniper mechanic, that would go to Engineer since Thieves do not need them.

In my opinion, this suggestion is based on someone’s play style not agreeing with the Thief’s play style. So instead of trying to change the profession, maybe try other professions first.

A Mesmer can easily get in and get out also and has the range your are looking for but no rifle.

A Warrior can use rifle and can do the same get in and get out play style.

A Engineer has the range you’re looking for in a rifle.

But a Thief is not a long ranged profession and I personally like for it to stay that way.

I am currently working on getting 100% World exploration but due to many skill point bugs, I have lost track of which area I am waiting for a fix.

Currently I have to visit each zone and since I’m already level 80, the cost of Way Point is getting ridiculous after a while.

So I would like to suggest the following;

1) An Area Completion Indicator viewable at the World Map level showing each zone the the percentage of completion.

2) An Achievement Checklist pull down to show which areas are not 100%.

3) An update detail, more specific than it is now, that identify which Skill Challenges that has been fixed. Currently, it’s the update is too generic that I have to physically go back to each challenges a to verify if they have been fixed – often times, I am disappointed and wasted time and money.

Thank you for your time and effort. As for me, these are just set backs and I’m sure that you will catch up eventually.

But I agree that this feature should be the same as it was in GW1.
