I would particularly like to be a villain myself. What if you had the option to become a renegade, gain allegiance with certain bandit bands and would become an enemy of the Seraph, the Peacemakers, the ‘Good sylvari’ etc. I think the story would be incredibly exciting if you had the option to choose a radically different way.

Cause I don’t like the plant people, they’re bland and boring.

I totally disagree. That’s the typical mentality I try to rebuke here. It’s not the time you play that counts, it’s the way you spend your time.

It’s not a personal thing Ovredon, and I don’t even want a legendary, with the trash status it has. But I think legendaries that are in-game at the moment are not earned by skill. Of course people have made an effort for them, but that’s not a matter of skill.

“Legendary status” should be something you achieve by doing things others can not. This doesn’t necessarily involve 14 hours/day playing this game, it only requires being good at the game and it certainly shouldn’t involve a lottery, as you make your point.

I don’t criticize you personally, I critize the idea that you want to make legendaries ‘earned’ in the farm way instead of the challenge way a special something, while they obviously don’t have any reason to be better than the others. On the contrary, I think legendaries achieved through a scavenger hunt would be worth more than the legendaries there are now.

You say it requires will power to earn a legendary through farming, I think it requires mindlessness. That has nothing to do with laziness or selfishness. I’m not jaelous of people who have a legendary, I just think the people who got a legendary in that way don’t deserve it. I say, give them to altruistic and dedicated players, such as a lot of wvw commanders who work lots for their servers but often don’t get much for it (again I am not a commander, so I don’t want to claim a legendary).
If you think me lazy, selfish or jaelous, you’ve totally missed my point. It’s about the ethic of gaming.

1. Gadgets either get a passive effect, or buffs+shorter CD (except for slick shoes?)
2. Ability to wield a melee weapon (hammer or mace would be most logical)
3. BUG FIXES FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

Yeah, some melee weapon would be more than nice. We’re adventurers, all adventurers have a melee weapon, except engineer.

^Indeed that seems like a most reasonable explanation as well, it wouldn’t be hard to counter the ladder (and maybe the mesmer), but instead would allow for more challenging fights.

If you see a ladder appearing in front of you, and aoe thrown up against the wall to make sure nobody pushes the ladder away, you’ll need to work together with other members of your server to get the ladder down, at the cost of defeat.

Another point I’d like to add is maybe that ladders have to be built within your server’s own towers/keeps, cause if they were to be built anywhere, you could just drop one where you want, with the hope that nobody of the enemy sees you, and slip inside.
Instead, the ladder should be build on your own terrain, and transported to the enemy fortification, being pushed by 2 players. This way, the ladder wouldn’t be quite such an element of surprise, but would be visible from afar (cause it’s of course higher than the players).

The point is, the players who have a legendary through “the old way” as you like to call it, already got way too much recognition for their zombie behavior. I strongly dissent against giving them any more. Those weapons shouldn’t be given to no-life gold farmers, they should be given to people who actually did something.

This is not a “I didn’t have time to play 14 hours a day, but I still deserve legendary” argument, because I don’t think I would deserve a legendary. I play an average of some 2-3 hours daily (since the launch of the game). I just think the people who have a legendary at the moment deserve one even less than I do, cause the legendary status amounts to gathering 700g (Good job!) and involves no ‘challenges’.

Therefore I think people who earn legendaries through a scavenger hunt (if such a thing ever comes) should be rewarded, not the gold farmers.

I think 50 gold or 100g is an extreme cost for this, if you think about the fact that right now it only costs 3 silver to reset traits.

I think portal-bombing is a worthless tactic anyways. It’s by no means fair and the mesmer has a lot more to prove it’s worth without portals. I’m in for blocking them and getting ladders instead.

As to your question about upgrading walls. Right now upgrading walls adds to their HP, but wouldn’t it be a way more interesting thing if upgrading walls added to the HP AND installed extra defensive barriers on the walls themselves, so players defending atop the wall can hold defensive points on the walls?

This would also encourage more scouting and less zerging, cause you could maybe reward players for “discovering” a ladder. For example, if you find an enemy ladder going up on a wall, stand close to it and press “F” to interact. Interacting to it gains you … WXP and … copper/silver/gold.

Then I suppose you have played the game for way too long and/or are a more than average player. I played WvW on a more than casual level (1 hour max a day when I play it and sometimes didn’t play WvW weeks on end) and have harvested 3k kills.
I have also played 6 classes to level 80 and the engineer was by far the class with the most lacking weapons. Rifle is rather sucky, pistols are too, and grenades and bombs seem to be the engineer’s last resort.

Hard work = grinding & gold farming?
No thanks. That doesn’t make you anywhere near legendary.

Because of the lack of things guilds can do in this game (I mean in-game options for guilds here: no possibility for guild vs. guild, no deciding how the guild village or hall should look etc), it’s rather pointless to have a political system which involves people choosing. Most of the events a guild can organize are events for which anet hasn’t build any infrastructure, so it’s mostly something that must be made up by a limited crew of people that have ideas to share. There isn’t much to manage atm.

This is also a criticism towards anet, but in short, I don’t think we need politics (yet) and electionary powers.

I just tried to find other solutions for this problem, but it won’t let me link the attack to mouse 1-mouse 2 or the scroll wheel. There is also no other way to make it attack with an easier way or auto-attack.

Apart from that, I’d really like to see this change aswell.

We tried guild challenge for first time yesterday.

1. More damage and more useful skills on rifle (most useless weapon there is atm):
- an immobilize, a aoe shot that misses half the times, a knockback that disables yourself and a jumpshot that has a serious delay
- give us a rifle volley skill like warrior: rifle is about 10x stronger on warrior than on engineer
2. Give grenades auto-attack, like bomb kit:
- they have a delay before hitting
- they are hard to target
- they require spamming 1 button all the time (unhealthy for both player and device)
3. Give us elites that actually are good (supply crate is ‘ok’, the rest are rubbish)

Aw, so scroll wheel is no solution either… well then our only option is to hope Anet reads this thread and does something about it.

Nice idea, I would like mounts in WvW though, once they release some bigger and new maps. No this wouldn’t mess with the movement speed: give them a 10% speed boost and if they are under effect of swiftness the normal speed boost drops and they get the normal 33% speed boost. The only thing I think this would add would be more versatile combat, more interesting viewpoints and a lot of fun when you can fight mounted (add a few new weapons with their own weaponskills, only useable from a mount).

For example:
- for a melee class: a spear or lance
- for a caster class: a battlestaff
- for a adventurer class: they can continue to use rifle (engineer), longbow (ranger) and shortbow (thief), but each with new unique mounted skills.

Make mounts 33% movement speed equal to swiftness, the mount lovers get their mounts, the people against it don’t feel too bad about the situation and all in all it’s purely cosmetic.

I suggest a 10% movement boost. Permanent swiftness would be a bit to OP.
I really would like to see mounts in the WvW aspect of the game, adding skills for mounted players. This would add to the strategy element of the game.
For example: a mounted charge against people that are trying to defend a gap in a castle. Also, I don’t think flying mounts are a good idea, unless they are rewarded for gaining one of the achievements in WvW or giving as a WvW rank ability (unlocked with ability points).

Normal mounts should be accessable for everyone, at any level, for a low cost.
Special mount skins could be added in the gem store (Wargs, Dolyaks, Minotaurs, King Boars etc).

Do you guys figure it is possible to bind the attack to mousewheel? You wouldn’t need to tap anymore, just scroll?

Cause indeed, why can’t we just auto-lock target like other classes… it would be so much fairer. Grenades:
- are the highest dmg we have
- take precious seconds to reach the target area, so often miss cause of that
- are hard to point to the right spot
- anticipation is a must (unlike other classes)
- we need to keep tapping the same button all the time, while other classes can just auto-attack

^this sum-up makes it look as if Anet deliberately wants engineer to fail.

I had the same idea, about 3 months ago (Guild cities was my thread I think). Good to see someone who has similar ideas. As a devoted guild player I would very much like this to be added.

Point remains; I’ve yet to see any AM engage a fight without at least 3:1 advantage. Any less and they run. We’re sometimes guilty on Gandara of getting frustrated with RS for hugging their keeps too much, but at least they’ll have a try at a proper fight from time to time.

Mmhmmm, yeah why not. Like Azylynne says, the addition of Cannon Yaks are a war instrument is a great idea. Seperate them from the normal Supply Yaks, but add them as a new sort of NPC in WvW.

I agree with that. Three from each armor class makes sense. I’d like to see a third Heavy profession. This class seems like a reasonable one. And I love GW1, so past lore would be amazing.

This has been suggested numerous times. Let us save our builds like we could in gw1 and drop the symbolic 3 silver price… 3 silver for retraining is nothing, while we are required to travel to the trait guy every time. The waypointing itself costs 2x more: 3 silver to the traiter, 3 silver back to the area you were in.

Seriously Anet, learn to refine your systems. This is a disgrace.

I want a dolyak mount. That’s it.

I’m in for it. It can’t harm anyone if you have an option to block duels. Also, limit the level of duelers to own level – 3, so they can’t challenge anyone that is outside the range.

We just hopped into WvW with 6 people from The Old Boys, each named Crazy Sapper [name] and we had a glorious time. Though because of the low level of our characters (level 2-7), we did get killed a lot, we had more fun playing WvW this way than the usual zerg way. In time we’ll probably level our characters up to a decent level, but we’re mainly funning around.

What about founding a guild (for funs) that is for engineers. The main idea behind this would be to go rampaging as engineers, bombing towers and keeps with grenade kits and bomb kits, maybe using some other fun tools the engineer has access to aswell.

Personal details:
I have played the engineer as my first class, but because it lacked on a lot of fields when in 1v1 situations, I decided to train other classes. A few days ago… I decided to reroll engineer… and created… Crazy Sapper Vael. More people are free to join in with newly created engineers, preferably bearing the name “Crazy Sapper [Name]”.
We can also accept higher level engineers (with another name), if they meet the other criteria. :P

The people who made these crazy sappers are all from Old Boys, a PvX guild on Gandara. Idk really if and how we will found it, and what the exact focus could be (probably spvp and wvw). If we find people interested we can found the guild in-game.
Leader and officer spots are open (as long as you let the old boys join in)
