What server and timezone please?
That’s alright
You know you can have multiple guilds at the same time? Whisper Jay Moonveil or me in-game and we’ll send you an invite (though I’m not playing a lot atm cause I’m doing a lot of work for university).

Hey all, is this a viable option for making the world vs. world queues a bit less annoying: we allow people who are in queue to watch their server’s players on the map, follow around with a random character or a famous one. I think some people will even enjoy spectating without the need to go in WvW theirselves, sort of to check if it’s worth going.
As for answerring possible ‘exploit’ commentaries: this will not have any advantages for the actual WvW players, cause people in spectator’s mode cannot whisper to anyone who is in WvW. This way there’s no pointing out where the enemy is.
Also, what about letting commanders track a few players who will function as scouts for him and allow him to watch their characters if he clicks their names in the ‘scout menu’?
Just some suggestions.
YEAAAAH finally we’re released from AG, AR, BB, RS and the bunch of them.
Hopefully this will be a matchup without all to many blobs and I’d like to encourage no blobbing on Gandara’s side (my side). This really makes the fighting boring, rather just play a bit strategically and with equal numbers, to see who’s the real champ.
I’m pretty sure GvG will not come:
When asked about GvG, Flannum confirmed what Jon Peters has stated in a previous interview that Guild Wars 2 would not have Guild vs Guild PvP.
No, that’s one thing that is a pretty big departure. The reason we didn’t want to do it is that even in guild vs. guild in Guild Wars 1, we found that what we had to do is create a lot of systems to circumvent that. It was just really hard to get that many people all from the same guild on at any given time.
What we’ve said instead is that our guilds are going to be about building social networks, and if there is a group of people that are the hardcore PvP guys they’re all going to be in the same guild anyway so that’s OK. And they’re going to register as a team, and be known as the team from a specific guild and build up a reputation. And then that gives them the flexibility that if they want to have a top team along with a team 2 and team 3, they can do that kind of thing. So we wanted to disassociate the two things.

About guild halls:
“What are the plans for expanding guild features? Guild Halls, calendars and things like that.
Someday there will be Guild Halls but it’s not something that is actively being worked on. Will expand on guild features down the road as well”

Sorry to dissapoint you guys, but it looks like we’re not going to get this content anytime soon.
It’s basically a dungeon instance where you get dropped into 3 random zones (out of 10+ choices). You can access it at any level and the more often you do it the higher the level of difficulty of the fractal is. It’s a lot of fun :p
I think this guy is very very right. Why should we play wvw?
For fun? Pride in your world and your guild you know all the reason to fight a mock war or sports. The same reason you play games.
I guess we could add in take over world like real war but then well we will see the weaker world get subjugated by the stronger worlds mahaha.
What is the fun in 40+ people from the totally overwhelming server running down 5 people from the weaker server? There’s no fun in it, it only is highly unfair that people ‘win’ not by skill but by being cowards and running in blobs. I’m on the Gandara server and week after week we get matched up against blob servers like Riverside, Baruch bay and Aurora Glade, that manage to bring 3x our number into the field. It only makes you want to leave that part of the game as far away from you as you can, because even if you are engaged in honest 5v5 fights, somehow 15 more of the dogs get called by their mates and come taking us down.
The same thing happens in SPvP over and over. Players use unfair tactics such as zerging down split-up teams or bunkering all over the place. How is one supposed to win a match if the other teams just run the ‘WIN’ builds and nothing can possibly bring them down. I’m trying not to whine, but the PvP aspect of this game is highly unbalanced and it sucks kitten
(edited by Sirendor.1394)
more whine pls
Take care. If you type here you might will loose the connection to your 70 ppl blob and you might find yourself in a serious and dangerous 1v1 situation. :O
Hahahahah! Just what I thought. RUN AWAY NOW KID
Can you please give us your server and timezone? That would help to see if you would fit in with ours. In any case, my guild tags ‘Gandara, GMT+1, Casual, Friendly, Helpful, Adult’. Those are the most important things to know about, but you can read all about it here:

and
Level doesn’t matter much for being in a guild, though you’ll probably miss out on the guild missions, cause these are situated mostly in level 50-80 areas. Though it is useful for being in a guild as a low-level just for the things more experienced players know and they can share with you.
I think this guy is very very right. Why should we play wvw? The same counts for spvp. They’re pretty much rubbish.
(edited by Sirendor.1394)
I hope RS goes through to the next tier soon, let them blob there. Ugly coward germans.
I never ever see them in groups of 1-5, always 15-20. In any case, gandaran picture of the day!
Of course not, that would be madness. No, according to our leader “Old Boys” means “We are adults and not kids”. We have some girls
Incredible work! I really like your style
Well the back banners are quite dumb. You look like an idiot with a flag.
Wake-up call
I still think this is a viable suggestion which would help the combat become even more interesting than it is at the moment. Variety in skills is what makes players able to construct their completely unique builds and combos that noone expects, making the game more dynamic and making it a new experience every day.
Guild rush succesfully completed. Next guild event Sunday (Bounty + Trek)
! new Updated our rank system! This goes with special titles on the site and possibly name effects.
The Old Boys are founding a Neverwinter guild aswell! Want to be a founding member? Contact me @ enjin [http://oldboys.enjin.com/profile/2176538]
Guild bounty this evening (in 1-2 hours). Send a pm to Vestra Grey, Vael Ashstorm or Jaydhren. Thanks!
Still looking for more people! We are hosting Guild Bounty tomorrow and maybe we’ll throw in a Guild Rush for great justice! We are currently doing a lot of SPvP, because of the fun of playing in a guild group and in custom arenas! World vs. World run this evening!
Greetings Vael-Sihur-Valdr-Allura
Hello everyone!
The Old Boys are officially hunting a Custom Arena. We have 10+ people interested in SPvP match-ups for the guild only, ranging from 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4.
We might also be interested in battling other guilds, but that’s something for the future.
At the moment: what are we looking for:
- SPvP players based on Gandara
- Custom Arena owners on Gandara (we want to pay for the Arena through the guild)
If more people are interested in joining, just leave a message on this forum thread, contact us in-game or on our website!
How long till the patch comes live ?
First remark that interests me.
Just started downloading for me (UK)
Thanks, started too
I am a casual gamer. I have a full time job, family commitments, and (gasp!) other hobbies. I typically play GW2 for about 2-3 hours a day after I come home from work, or up to 6 hours sometimes during weekends, when I do not have other engagements. Playing video game, playing this MMO, is a hobby. Like any hobbies, I sometime spend a little bit more money on it (in GW2 case, some gems) because it makes me happy. Like I sometimes spend real cash on movies (sometimes 2 movies within a day), DVD, books, and other single-player video games. Video games are great distraction and I enjoy quite a bit.
So, I don’t get the hate or rage I sometimes see on this forum. It is like as if Anet has cause you to go bankrupt, or Anet has slept with your girlfriend behind your back or something, or Anet has insulted your mother. For goodness sake, Guild Wars 2 is just a game.
I see every nerf as a challenge. My current build became less viable because a major skill is nerfed? I take it as a challenge to readjust and rebuild my character. Getting the end-game gears is so bloody easy in this game, I already have a few set of exotic armor just to cater for different builds I am experimenting. Re-distribution of trait points is so easy and inexpensive.
I understand that people raged if the character they spent hundreds of dollars building up (like in those pay-to-win “F2P” MMO, or MMO that required monthly sub), and suddenly that character is nerfed. You are entitled – because you spent obscene amount of real cash on it. But Guild War 2? No monthly sub, no pay-to-win. So why are people raging as if Anet owes them a living? What kind of mentality is this?
Let’s have mature discussion about nerf/changes, how it impact us as players. It is not the end of the world that some posts make it looks like.
I agree with the basic argument you bring forth (it’s just a game), because indeed, it IS just a game. But why people get angry is because they like to play it, the way it is, they have made themselves a set-up that works for them, that they feel good with.
Now they don’t want to alter it and I think that’s fine. Anet ruins their gaming experience like it was, to change the gaming experience of others for the better.
Of course, people might be tired of constantly changing their set-up, and it might not be a reason for rage, but I think it has some valid points.
Honestly how can they not split the skills, think about it, three different play modes need three different balancing, seems pretty basic to me…
Because the only limiting factor should be damage. I don’t see how a skill can work differently from one game mode to the next in the same game.
They did it in guild wars 1, seems pretty obvious to me. Just delete features in PvP or PvE accordingly and make them different skills.
How long till the patch comes live ?
First remark that interests me.
Sorry but increasing the level cap to 100 would be the worst change I ever saw in this game so far. I have 5 level 80s with maxed gear and I couldn’t be bothered leveling them all to 100. For me, from level 30 on the pve zones get stale. You have unlocked all skill abilities, have control most of the interesting class mechanisms, and all the zones you pass are actually the same as the zone before, with the exception that they look different. But then you still need to get 50 levels (actually already endgame).
It only gets exciting again from the moment you reach 80 and get to play WvW and dungeons on a full scale.
I have passed those 50 boring levels 5 times already. If they made me redo 20 levels on each character + farm for better gear, I would probably quit the game. There are a lot of nice other games out there, so hey, Guild Wars 2 was fun, but no thanks.
Sorry mate, but from the stuff I’m reading it looks like you will have to merge with another guild. If you have only 6-7 real active players, it’s not looking like a lot…
If you’re interested in joining our guild on gandara, we take mergers
Melandru open at Gandara atm
EU Gandara is open atm
Grenth EU= Aurora Glade.
Thanks for joining
Dropping out a renewal before the next update!
~~ Cause i’m shalalalalala…~~~
We are still interested to adding other guilds to our ranks. If you have a band of people that are active and wish to be part of bigger active guilds, please let me know!
Hey there Rin, our guild on Gandara is pvx, meaning we do both pve and pvp (wvw & spvp). We are casual and laid-back, holding a friendly atmosphere high, helping eachother and introducing new players to pvp situations.
If you’re interested, please check this forum thread (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/guilds/The-Old-Boys-OB-Gandara-are-recruiting/first#post1185913) and post a reply there asking to join the guild
I don’t know if you can transfer using gems or are willing to delete your existing characters in order to do so for free?
Greetings, Vael
Yea you can. We’re on gandara so I’ll send you an invite.
Hey there, The Old Boys have several Ex-Wow players and we’ll welcome you with pleasure. What server you on atm?
Our guild has everything you want. We have an active playerbase, 3 guild missions and we don’t require voip. We also like to have fun together and help people!

Ah I see, I don’t think that will fit with our hours, since you’d have to play a little after noon. Good luck anyways!

Hooray for the weekly log-in error! Any ideas, any update from devs except for “try to disable your firewall”? Thank you!
I think my guild has all you need, but I’m not sure what time you are mentioning? CET or GMT+2? In any case our guild is playing on GMT+1 – GMT+3 (mostly at 7-10 pm or in afternoon)
kitten: a pretaste of how the Old Boy Back Banner will look!!!!!
Hey Zeigh, I don’t want to type a whole review about advantages of my guild or why you should join my guild, but I’ll just send you on to our forum thread, so you get to see for yourself what we are all about! You were looking for an all-round guild, so that’s what we are, with an active player base, so come on and check this thread!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/guilds/GANDARA-Old-Boys-Awww-Yeah/first#post1901327
Ok Carol
I sent you an invite over in-game and we’re not discriminating anyone for age, have quite a number of adult players so yeah!
My story is simple: I’ve joined GW2 a few months after the launch, due to the real-life commitments I had when the game launched. Unfortunately, it seems that my first server of choice was not such a great one for my play-style, so I ended up leaving the game – even if I was part of a few guilds, I felt alone. Everyone was max level, geared, they had their own agenda, no one was there to help, not even to chat, all they seemed to do were speed runs and farming gold.
I’ve deleted all my characters, I can chose whatever server i want now (will still be locked for 7 days after I make a choice). I’m looking for a guild on an English speaking server (NA, EU, does not matter much to me – I’m EU but I tend to have weird play times). Ideally a mature guild (i’m 35) with people who play together, do stuff together: guild events, dungeons, WvW, everything there is. Helpful, noob friendly, no drama. I want to be part of something, I don’t want a chat room where someone says two words every 15 minutes.
I’m not new to MMO’s, I know “how things work”. I might still need some guidance here and there but I can hold my own. The ideal place for me would have frequent mass group scheduled events (like “dungeon evening” or “WvW evening” etc.)
If you feel that I’ll fit in your guild, or if you need more detailed info, please contact me. Thank you for reading all this and enjoy the game
Dude, the Old Boys is the place for you to be. We’re adult, laid-back and do tons of events! We do WvW group-ups nearly on a daily base, a crap ton of dungeons and fractals and we have 3 guild missions of 5 unlocked, doing them on weekly base!
Want to join? Let me know something! Also, we’re on Gandara.
Carol, sorry that my mate didn’t reply your question on the forum thread of the Old Boys. We would be happy to let you join in the fun
Icy, I think our guild is precisely what you are looking for.
We have ~60 active members (daily and weekly) and we do dungeons, WvW and guild missions a lot, SPvP a bit less. We’re based on Gandara (a high population EU server).
We’re mostly 18+ and our officer squad is called Team Handsome (= reason enough to join, no?).
Anyways, let us know something in-game! whisper me, Bartholomew Roberts or Vestra Grey for a guild invite.
We do Carol, ignore Void, he’s ehh well Void…
