Yeah. Not wasting a tear on the kraitt. Not a single one doesn’t attack me on sight, enslave and eat every other race. No redeeming value, except as leather for making kraitt skin armour, as Apatia suggests. Hope the devs introduce that as a craft sometime. I’m there.
Don’t like the asura either. To much time spent listening to npc chatter. They all come off as the types Josef Mengela would be proud of, nay, envious. Well, most of them. There are exceptions that I do like. But they just make the rest look worse by comparison. No, that whiny prat in DE isn’t one of them. I’ve wanted to kill her since my first toon.
Oh, and one city doesn’t genocide make. Might wanna look up what that word actually means, before cheaply tossing it around.
You will save about ~1 gold after 4 weeks. ^^
That’s… great?
Considering I’ll get nothing out of fractals I wont do and BLC keys I wont buy? Duhhhhh -uhhh.
Few silver for a month. HA! What crack are you smoking. It cost 3 and more just to WP from one end of the map to the other, much less multiple jumps a day, times how many times you login. True about the WvW getting nothing tho. Except screwed. they do that a lot. Gotta “rebalance” the skills with PvP in mind, regardless of how it screws with WvW viability. And heaven forfend you try to rank up more then a couple toons.
I’ll take the WPs. The saving just chasing world chest events will be huge, and not touching keys for chests with contents I don’t want or need. Fractals are irrelevant to me.
Of course this entire argument is based on the idea the the reduction cuts will be huge. Afaik they haven’t even released any numbers on the exact offers mad by the two candidates.
No, the entire argumet covers the fact that the ONLY thing they are offering to me that matters is the WP fees. Since I don’t give a flying frig at a rolling donut about fractals, and I care even less about the dross they give you from BLCs. Ergo, the only thing that benefits me that they are offering is the WP fee reduction.
Every time i read “I don’t like JPs, so Anet has to remove ’em from the game”
I want to answer “I don’t like You, so Anet should remove you from the game first”.
I feel the same way, but in reverse, about ppl like you.
So what other content type would you have replace JPs? More PvE mobs to easily gib? OMG that would be so boring.
Jumping Puzzles are supposed to be challenging. If you hate JPs it is because it is above your skill level. Heaven forbid you ever played Super Mario.
JPs as of late have been a great refresher IMO. They do need better rewards for the harder JPs at least.
Let’s get one thing straight. Achievement Points are meant to be difficult or take time to get. If you aren’t willing to challenge yourself you do not deserve to get achievement points.
“ACHIEVEMENT” -1. The act of accomplishing or finishing.
2. Something accomplished successfully, especially by means of exertion, skill, practice, or perseverance.
Hate them because they are boring as all kitten. And what you get for doing them isn’t remotely worth the time. Blue off a champ is a better reward ratio. And I HAVE done most of them. Doesn’t change the fact that I still despise them. Hating them doesn’t even remotely equate with them being “above the skill lvl” Assuming so, just shows you’re an kitten .
and you cant complain about the looks
Well, actually I can. The reason why I never even considered trying to make a legendary is because the dagger is hideous, the staff is boring and the Axe/Focus, while very nice, clash heavily with each other and with any necromancer aesthetics I can think of.
Second that. I find them all godawful fugly.
Legendaries generally look better than most other weapons of the same type. They’re also guaranteed to be upgraded stat-wise whenever ascended or higher tier weapons are released, guaranteeing it will always be BiS. Since this question usually follows: It’s currently unknown whether legendaries with transmuted stats will be upgraded when ascended weapons are released. (I’m talking about ascended stat-wise, not the fractal skins.)
Assuming your definition of best includes ostentatious, waving your kitten around, godawful gaudy, then yes. It’s the best looking.
MF is gone from gear. Only gonna be account bound and increasable with ever more costly consumables. Course, what they gonna do about all the mats that went into making the MF gear they’ve unilaterally rendered useless is another matter. Takes a kittenload of Ori to make jewelry, relative to how “easy” it is to get. Or any high tier mat. Only ever had lots of hard leather.
Same thing will happen for ascended armor. So you might want to get your level up there pal.
Yeah, wouldn’t want people who like to craft be able to make the gear and sell it to those who don’t. You know, kinda playing it our way, rather then how they tell us to. Like they told us we could.
Sorry but your point is invalid, the gear highly surpasses all gear choices for my hybrid style of gameplay and there is simply nothing that beats it, I will not even say what else I want to say for fear of being reported.
Ridiculous. Your “hybrid build” would be better served by a combination of current available gear. Go on, tell us your build so we can prove how your “highly” Celestial gear is bad for it.
The best build is the build that suits the style of play the person doing the playing likes. Your opinion on the matter is irrelevant. You are’nt doing the playing for them.
How can people craft it yet ? I thought the quartz or whatever were time gated…
And how do you know you can’t sell it ? You didn’t craft it…It only seems to be time gated as far as globs of ecto are concerned which is very much a positive imo, we’re not trying to get materials that never drop for some people except ectos which aren’t really too expensive to receive right now.
I have to say this is a better system imo for this armor. Looks like they are trying to place these things within the reach of the average player in this case.
Ectos have nothing to do with the gate. The gate is only being able to make ONE charged quartz crystal per day, per account. Then having the crap account bound once you make it.
Not saying that Anet handled this correctly or not. But I will point out that if you have 0 mats and 0 in a craft following along with one of the many guides out there it takes only about ~10 gold (depending on the craft) and 1 hour to reach 400. Get yourself the achievement points and just do that. If it is worth that much to you people get master crafter with 50g and 1 day. It’s really easy.
Yeah, cause it took no time at all to either collect the mats, or earn the gold to buy them. Nope, dropped out of my butt like nuggets.
How can people craft it yet ? I thought the quartz or whatever were time gated…
And how do you know you can’t sell it ? You didn’t craft it…Its account bound on all the pictures. Nobody should be forced to craft to play a game IMO.
You aren’t. You are “forced” to craft it if you want one specific set of gear.
I’d rather not have to run AC for tokens for a legendary, but I certainly don’t think it is something “forced” on me.
If said gear was the only viable option in pve/w3, then I could see your point. Although it takes all of ten minutes to master a craft to 400.
Sorry but your point is invalid, the gear highly surpasses all gear choices for my hybrid style of gameplay and there is simply nothing that beats it, I will not even say what else I want to say for fear of being reported.
Being forced to craft is the reason I left SWTOR.
This gear is only extremely useful in specific builds that are focused on utilizing more than 4 stats.
As far as professions that can use it out of the box, it’s mainly Guardians and Elementalists, but other classes can trait specifically to use it. You don’t need this armor, just like you don’t need berserker gear. You really don’t [need it], you just might want it for a specific build.
Then I guess they should patch the old gear recipes to make em ALL account bound. Since you don’t need any of them, just for any given build.
Still don’t see anything wrong with the way we get gear. It should take a while.
8 months is more then a while.
Has anyone found leather or cloth dyes that work with the Radiant?
No. Anet assume we are all warriors and guardians for some reason.
Yeah. I was disappointed when I put mine on and couldn’t dye it. Can dye everything else, even skins that have effects. Hell, no reason dye can’t affect glow colour, but even without that, there is the rest of the skin that isn’t glowing. Just hoping it lights up the dark, but ain’t holding my breath.
Have only made a light coat so far, but someone linked a pistol they made in LA. Account bound. So, can forget about making money with the new stuff, or buying it if you are one of the many that aren’t Master Crafters.
Absolutely, 100%, fully intended, IMO
Yeah, like taking a cab is intended in the Tour de France.
I’ll take the WP savings. Not broke by any means, but don’t give a tinker’s kitten about fractals, so neither one is gonna see one of my toons any time soon.
Few silver for a month. HA! What crack are you smoking. It cost 3 and more just to WP from one end of the map to the other, much less multiple jumps a day, times how many times you login. I’ll take the WPs. The saving just chasing world chest events will be huge, and not touching keys for chests with contents I don’t want or need. Fractals are irrelevant to me.
How much do you plan to waypoint in 4 weeks? And it’s a reduction cost (10%? maybe 20% even 50% won’t matter on the long term).
The amount of WP-ing I’d do in a month would still be higher than the amount of black lion keys I would buy (zero). Since I don’t really care for Fractal content, Kiel has my vote.
Exactly. Will be saving way more in WP. Not wasting gems on Keys to get more boosters I have no use for. And couldn’t care less about one fractal or the other.
Couldn’t care less about the fractal any more then I do the ones we have. I have no use for BL keys to open a chest that gonna drop more crap boosters on me I don’t need. I’ll take the cheaper waypoints.
Quaggans are delicious. All hail Kiel!
lol, that would have been nice to know before i spent 300,000 karma on armor lol. i tossed them in the mystic forge though and got an exotic for salvaged that and got three ectos.
Well, kinda obvious. Any karma bought from any karma vendor from the first lowbie one, you can’t salvage. Took you till 80 to notice?
I know you were changing the skill so that it doesn’t go through walls and such. but making it have NO RETURN AT ALL, isn’t fixing anything. Removing HALF of the functionality of a skill isn’t improving it. Now, if we have the temerity to use a stun skill on anything but open AND flat terrain, we get half a skill. If you can programme it to disappear when it hits a wall or terrain, you can programme it to return at that point rather then full range.
May not be a bug, but IS covered under the issues with gameplay part of the subtitle.
This needs fixing.
Was playing my ele a couple days ago. When in combat, when I tried to cast Shaterstone, it wouldn’t. Most of the time anyway. Cast it over 2 dozen times in a row to try and get it to proc. No joy. Out of combat, it cast no problem. Occasionally, it would cast in combat, very rarely. Don’t know if it is mob sensitive, or mob lvl, or whatever. Was in Timberline Falls going for the new Aethercach when it happened.
Didn’t notice a problem with the other #2 skills. Just this one.
Cheer up, you’re playing an mmo for free.
It’s not free. They paid the initial cost. And then are buying gems. Is why most mmo go “free” to play. It’s makes them more money then monthly subs do. And when you are PAYING for something, you are supposed to GET something for your money. This is a game with features, in this case, skins, we are paying for. We aren’t going to a casino or buying lottery tickets. And if they want to model gambling, they can get a gambling license from every country they operate in.
Yes, we paid an initial cost. That initial cost got you the entire game that was there at launch. Then you got additional things added since launch (albeit most of it was temporary or seasonal but new things still have been added) also for free. You were not forced to pay anything. If you did buy things from the gem store you knew what you were buying, either an armor skin, extra character or bag slots, the pick/sickle, or minis, OR you bought boxes that had random items inside. You did buy a lottery ticket. What you got was the chance at getting things. So you did get what you paid for.
No where did Anet say “buy X boxes and be assured a ticket/skin.”
Now there is a big different between asking anet to put the skins in the store (in my opinion a valid request), and saying that you were ripped off by anet.
I know what you would like, but let me just pose two other alternatives to you.
What if the skins were in the store, but cost $100 per skin (leaving the boxes as they are now)? People would say that was outrageous and that they were just milking us for money, and only the very lucky or very rich could get them.
What if they didn’t sell any boxes and you could only get them via rnd drop, and there were no skins for sale in the store. Then only people could spend hours grinding would have any chance at getting a ticket, and only the very lucky or those with time to grind could get them.
While people say “I don’t buy rnd boxes, but I would buy the skin” there are plenty of people who buy the boxes. Within the first 4 hours of a 30 day event there were a bunch of people who spent over $100 in rnd boxes. Anet would not sell the boxes if they didn’t make money, and they apparnetly make more money then selling the skins directly. I don’t have a problem with this.
For free, we get a new LA skin, a fun (if you have both teams not afk), fast paced pvp mini game, and some new living story content. Also 3 free helms (1 for each armor type) a back item for casual play and another one as a rare drop. Would I like a jade skin or two? Sure I would, but if I don’t get it from dropped boxes, oh well. Also, while this doesn’t apply to everyone, as I’m sure some people will stick to the jade skins, look around. How many Halloween skins or Christmas skins do you see running around? Once the next event rolls around, most people will jump ship and try to get the new ones. Hell I’m still using my 1h fire sword skin from day 1.
And where, pray tell did I say I bought a box, kitten I buy what I want. If I wanted a lottery ticket. I’d go play a lottery. Not a game.
Your teams switch up as you win/lose and you can report people for Akitteng I believe. But your idea is a good one, so I would suggest putting it in the suggestion forum. I can see your issues and it’s a decent solution.
If they can teleport you into the arena to be a free kill when idle, then they can kitten well teleport you OUT of the game so you don’t get to leech other people and screw up their games. Haven’t played one yet without at least one, usually 2 or 3 afk on my team. Hell, normal game they dump you into character creation. Can do that here to. Just to kitten dumb and lazy not doing it.
I find it amusing that people think its about getting the achievement. Recall that even a losing team gets a piece of candy….. so if you just afk all day when not playing, free candy to sell or use for wings
Yeah. Cause getting A candy every 10 to 15 minutes is an efficient way to get you 100000.
Spend a bunch of money and gamble it away for nothing, or spend a bunch of time and gamble it away for nothing. Pick your poison?
Right now cool skins go to people with lots of disposable income rather than people who have earned them playing the game (no, farming and getting lucky is not playing the game)…so any argument about them being truly prestigious or novel is kind of lost. When I see a fused weapon, I know I’m looking at someone with lots of cash to throw away on gambling boxes or someone that got lucky…not someone that is particularly skilled at the game or has accomplished anything of merit.
Aren’t you presumptuous. Knowing who got what how. Guess you got cams watching everyone to make sure they earned it legit.
The regular coffers are dropping left and right in the open world from holograms and regular mob drops. That may be a better chance for those that don’t want to buy RNG boxes.
Also if they sold the skins outright almost everyone would have them and then they probably wouldn’t seem so special.
Ya just spent $40 cash to get just one of those dam Tickets didnt get it Im sick of the RNG bull crap I’m uninstalling the game this just isnt right Anet
LOL, that seems like your problem not the games. From past experience/information on RNG crates you should have known the chances are slim. So your response is to spend $40 then delete the game? Something tells me that Anet won’t be going out of business because of you deleting the game, but I’m sure they appreciate you $40 and thanks for playing.
No. Everyone wouldn’t have one. The people who like them would. I wouldn’t have bought ANY of the previous event skins. NONE of them. As far as I’m concerned they all looked like kitten, or at best, barely tolerable. This is the first skinset I’ve actually liked. Nope. Ain’t buying sweet kitten all of rng-screw-you-sucker boxes.
This is the 5th event they have added in the RNG box gamble, if they read the forums they know people hate it and the only conclusion is greed > care.
Arena Net reads these forums, and it is NC Soft that demands the RNG boxes. The developers aren’t the ones we should be complaining to; we need to petition NC Soft directly otherwise all these complaints are meaningless. Not because Arena Net doesn’t care, but because they are powerless to do anything about it.
Publishers control developers, not the other way around. A direct line to the developer will have zero influence on their publisher.
If ANet can’t be assed to pass on how kitten ed off people are about this kitten, then they are just as complicit, and kittens, as NCSoft is. They long since wasted their free passes.
So quit buying the frigging things. How hard is that?
I would love to have that staff for my Ele, along with the wings but RNG is just NO!
…and apparently we need 100k Zhaitaffy for wings? I’ll go back to yakslapping thanks.
Yeah, cause as one of their “bright ones” said wayyyy back when. “We don’t make grindy games.” As if that aint been long proved a pile of bullkitten.
I thought that was supposed to already be in, based on the developer stream from Monday…
The only thing I’d heard was that if you didn’t move for X seconds, it teleports you onto the field.
this is what happens – its the dumbest thing ever. Not only does it not address the issue it makes it worse by giving the other team free kills.
Who sat around the design table and thought up this gem?
It’s dumb as a bag of hammers. If they can teleport you onto the field for a free kill, they can teleport the leeching kitten right out of the kitten game. They can EARN their kitten 20 game achievement or kitten off.
Fix this kitten.
You can’t actually call an achievement something that is based on other people’s dumbness, and not your own skill
Not changing it after all the feedback I’ve read on this forum, is pretty fail.
Actually, you can. My guildie did it by playing the game till she managed to get everyone rolled over. Took her hours and hours, but she likes this stuff. I hate it. Listening to her taunting ppl in voice chat was far more fun then playing it was.
More of an “achievement” then hitting “f” at a few npcs at the resort is.
Do negative numbers count? I give it a -5/10.
There’s nothing compelling, heroic or fun about killing crabs as the main point of a storyline.
The Southsun storyline characters are generic and completely forgettable.
The isle, itself, is poorly designed and looks more like a desert than a lush tropical island. The very landscape makes me not want to go there.
The Canach instance feels as if it were thrown together at the very last moment.
The entire storyline made me feel as if I were a trash man or a high school janitor rather than a hero. The players should be at the center of the storyline rather than the generic NPCs.
The whole event was just terrible all around.
Might not be as harsh kitten . But when the, as OP put it, not shabby dungeon was so forgettable that I DID forget I did it till a guildie reminded me of stuff that happened in the Null fight, then I’d have to say it WAS a shabby “dungeon”. Which btw, is usually defined as more then one room. (same as I forgot I saw Lost in Space and Clone Wars, till I was halfway thru my second viewings)
Don’t mind the high MF, did mind that it didn’t really matter much as it only affected what dropped, IF something dropped. Or as the same guildie would sum it up. MF is a farce, a farce I say.
Had a good laugh at the Contracts mission end when the ship sunk. I agree with the Lionguard that said anything that makes Noll mad is a good day. (Any asuran far as I’m concerned, bunch of Mengela wannabes is how their npc chatter comes across)
2 gold and 70 shells (30 shells for an apoth insig, btw, so more then dbl the shells) for what is essentially tinkered apothecary gear with generic skins? Utter bs.
I’m just glad I haven’t gotten a ticket for one of those godawful eyeball (bad enough poor Londo had some parasite put in him, much less we too having to carry one around) weapons. Tho that makes me scared I’ll get one from the 6 crates I have in the bank to to open. Could of at least made the kitten things not bound so those of us stuck with a pos could sell them. Rather then get a wasted double “rare” drop.
Like the back pieces. Gave the flower to my Necrocutie and the Hentai-Violator-san piece to my Elehottie. Tho the tentacle thing will wear on me and be reskinned at some point. Instigator fights ere fun nuff, but liked the town events with swarms of critters better. More drops since you almost never got dookie from a settler in the riots. Least now I have enough shells to make Apoth sets for my guard and Ele, both of whom I tend to run as support in dungeons/groups.
Sum up. Should have ended the Story with the bonfire. Southsun is the bitter aftertaste from a “desert” gone wrong after a good meal that the MF boos fight was.

Kitten kitten mewl mewl zerging isn’t bad l2 counter the zerg -insert arrow cart joke here- its not hard when u l2 organize
Actually, the best nerf to mindless zergballs is to remove the stupid AOE limit. If I poison a room, more then 5 ppl are going to choke on it if there are 20 in it. I laugh at the ones that say a few ppl shouldn’t be able to hold off a massive number. Tell that to the 300 at Thermopylae. Or any of the other “lost cause, last stands” in history. Artillery hits more the 5 when it goes off overhead too, or any of a number of examples. You’d still have the same number of ppl there, just can’t exploit a stupid hit limit that’s brain damaged, and they’d have to spread out to minimize it’s effect, just like real soldiers do.
No one yells “Incoming! BALL UP!”
I definitely believe siege weapons should have no cap at all. Player aoe cap I can understand getting away with, but if a ballista punches through 20+ people sitting on top of each other they should all feel it.
Ahh. So when I throw a grenade into a group of ten ppl it will politely decline to hurt half of them…..
yeah….. that’s why I can pop my heal on my guard and be back to almost full health, from 1k, while if I do that on my thief, he’s at 1/3 heatlh….. yeah, a guard is a squishy (all classes but engi and mez)
Um, while Guardians are less squishy than Thieves even though they have the same health, you can’t just use something that is flat out wrong to support your point
These two abilities have the same cool down, both grant some defensive bonus, and the Thief one heals more.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shelter – 4555/30 = 151 hp/second
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hide_in_Shadows – 5240/30 = 174 hp/second (didn’t factor in regeneration)Even if you use the highest healing skill per cooldown, Thieves outstrip Guardians
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Signet_of_Resolve – 8150/40 = 203 hp/second
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Withdraw – 4344/15 = 289.6 hp/second (almost 50% more than the Guardian! and it gives a dodge + condition removal too)To get the result that you have, your Guardian would need incredibly low HP (or very high healing), and the Thief would need lots of vitality beyond what is usually required.
In short, stop using bad examples.
Edit: Okay technically you can be right, but it doesn’t give the entire picture at all.
Yeah…. and I don’t play both classes and know from using them rather then spec sheets and assumptions on what build I’m using either…
I have both a Guardian and a Thief at 80 too, and never get the results that you are describing.
The numbers described in the wiki don’t lie. I’m more inclined to believe something that can be checked, than an anecdote from a probably biased person.
Check your own biases, and check again what was said about assuming what builds I use. I don’t use either of those thief heals, cause I don’t play the style that benefits from them.
To the GOM camping the exit of the dark area of the Eternal Battlegrounds JP, REALLY?!
Haven’t been WvW in a while. But really. If it’s red it’s dead.
This I do not agree with …… “nothing but bad pvpers”.
I have fought some really good players from both GoM and DR, Won some and lost some. But they have some really good players. In fact wanted to give a shout out to the VP thief I fought yesterday at the ruins in GoM BL (I think). Fought for what seemed like forever, finally got downed (Friggin’ Ranger Heal steal, lol), then a polite bow. Class act, I do the same.
Ok I should have said it better..But majority of gom are bad in pvp..ive seen some good ones also. Point I was trying to make was during tkitten no seige bug, Gom kept getting whiped everywhere. Now that seige is back…they r back to trebbing Anz 24/7, trebbing our keep or using golems which fail everytime cause they dont bother to take out oil.
To gom: Dont rely heavily on seige…maybe this is why you are one of the low servers.
And yet…GoM is still winning and has been doing quite well without heavily relying on siege. But, if it makes the pain of watching a server where, as you put it a “…majority of gom are bad in pvp…” easier to deal with…please continue with your dialogue.
Ya make it sound like you are somehow a T1 server not down here with us.
What’s so organized about a bunch of small groups running around with their own personal goals? When you think about it, playing that way has even more potential to be chaotic then zergs do. Commanders and zergs are learning. We’re seeing a lot more organized zergs these days and even some of the pugs are learning. New tactics such as might stacking and always staying moving as a unit in a fight are being discovered. For example, see what a RAM zerg can do to anything Maguuma can throw at it.
Cause, I don’t know, they use this thing called chat, or Teamspeak to talk to each other and tell them what they are doing so they can do what is know as “coordinate”. And chaos is especially what they are supposed to BE causing. For the enemy, by harassment and distraction. Which is why solo/small groups are able to ninja targets while the zergball assumes the other zergball they are fighting is everyone. But isn’t.
Kitten kitten mewl mewl zerging isn’t bad l2 counter the zerg -insert arrow cart joke here- its not hard when u l2 organize

lol…you’re not going to take a supply camp as a solo WvW roamer.
This is news to me.
No kidding. Done it, and Briar Tower once. That was fun. Ppl should repair their gate after beating back an attack.
There is a thing called solo WvW roaming. Google it.
Yes, this thing where you end up leaving WvW at the end of your playtime having died ten times as much as anyone else, watched more players run away from fight than finish them, and lost far more currency on repair costs than you gained.
Only if you suck real bad. I run solo most of the time. Am not a stealth thief, tho am a thief. HAVE soloed camps, and towers. Even as a thief that like to stay and fight most of the time, I make money and rarely group up. Ankitten o where near leet. I just seem to know how to pick sensible fights most of the time. I guess, tho my guildie who sometimes runs with me thinks I’m nuts the way I like to go thru breaches head first Dagger Storming everyone. She laughs at me alot.
autoattack with 1-chain. if it hits an enemy in stealth, it will proceed to the second skill in the chain and you will know you’ve found an enemy.
Also, isn’t there something called a stealth trap?
And then three Thieves pop out of Stealth, insta-down you, and stealth finish you while your allies are wondering “gee what happend to Thor?”
Bingo! We have a winner!
And we’re assuming Thor has no common sense and wouldn’t say were he found them?
neither would it matter they would be long gone, its’s hard to catch up with heart seeking thieves bouncing off into the distance while every other class has an asthma attack trying to keep up.
Considering that Thieves are 3rd in straightline mobility that’s just plain bullkitten, lol.
No kidding. Try catching an ele that doesn’t want to stand. Ranger has same signet speed, plus a horn rush
Watch for the poofs of smoke, shadow refuge icons, doors/walls being cloak & daggered, or NPCs acting funny.
That being said….
As a thief myself, I ABSOLUTELY believe that there should be a mechanic to penalize long-duration stealth for thieves.
For example – every second that they are in stealth, they get an additional stack of “Fatigue”. Every second that they are visible, they lose a stack of Fatigue. If they reach 25 stacks of Fatigue, they are revealed with a 5 second Revealed debuff.
In practice, a normally stealthing thief will never reach this limit – Shadow Refuge (3s + 10s) + hide in shadows (4s traited) and a C&D (4s traited) and you’d still be under the limit at 21 stacks of Fatigue.
What this would stop:
Perpetual C&D off of gates/walls.
Permanent D/P invis. It would also provide a fight time limit for Thieves that are hidden for the majority of the fight – if the thief spends more time invisible than visible, eventually the Fatigue will catch up.
You know, I’m going to post this in another topic as putting it in a QQ topic isn’t the wisest thing….
Interesting…. tho this “fatigue” should only apply on skills you put “effort” into. EG: blinding powder wouldn’t take any effort, powder hanging in the air isn’t you holding it up there. Nor the black powder from pistol. A ‘spell’ takes effort to maintain, environmental effects don’t, I’d say. After all, the way stealth works here, it’s a spell. At least to me. Makes more sense then nothing being able to see you cause you crouched like in Skyrim, tho makes for an easy slit throat. And I do love me those too.
yeah….. that’s why I can pop my heal on my guard and be back to almost full health, from 1k, while if I do that on my thief, he’s at 1/3 heatlh….. yeah, a guard is a squishy (all classes but engi and mez)
No it isn’t. That video was an excellent example of how to stupidly try to find a thief. Run round like chickens with your head cut off, don’t communicate, drop traps in non-choke points, overlap traps to minimize coverage, spam aoe on where the smoke IS, or trap has gone off, rather then in places the thief might go…..
It’s a perfect example of how to hunt for a thief WRONG.
please do tell us you sure fire ways to hunt down a thief. In that video he had 360 degree exit points since it was in open ground. So what choke points are you talking about. walk around dropping AoE on all the stairs leading to the walls in Stonemist?
Come on, I’d like to hear your ideas that are so good on how to hunt a thief that is invisible 100% of the time and can teleport large distances.
Had a nice narrowed area between the two open ones they could have dropped their traps in. Never did once. He just ran back and forth between the two big zones. And when he did hit the spike trap and was bleeding, did nothing. Just nailed where he was not in areas he would have been dodging to. Crippled doesn’t mean immobilized. Like another post said. they put their aoes on top of each other, not spread out to find him. Not that they were going to with the small number they had in that vid. And we can’t teleport all that far. Hell, a warrior can leap farther then our ranged weapons shoot. None of our weapons are that long ranged.
Not that I run this type of build. Not the type that finds this kinda fight fun. Prefer a mobility/agility build with some escape stealth if it going bad. More fun for me. Guess others like it better cause it means they can catch me sometimes when I Leroy Jenkins into a group, cause that’s the way I am x] Well, not a kittenedly big group, but I find bouncing around caltrops flying, singing “Can’t Touch This” to myself hilarious. Get caught sometimes, but meh, I just dun find stealth thieving fun. Ain’t my thing.
Worried about getting my kitten kicked when I start taking my other toons into WvW. Not used to playing with them, and guards are just so kitten slow. (no, I hate the staff skills, don’t waste my time with their 8 second speed :P )
So yeah, ramble rambly. Thief trolled guys back and forth, not dying and not getting anything done but wasting their time. Success for him, I guess, I could never do it cause from my side, that is boring as all hell. They coulda repaired that breach OP mentioned in another post, gotten more ppl there and dealt with him then, rather then run around like the closing scene in a Benny Hill episode.
Thieves are hard to catch? They can stealth too much? They also have (one) of the lowest HP pools, and also are one of the squishiest classes.
You are just clueless if you think so. Roll a real thief build and see how squishy you actually are xD.
You mean how even with full Vit/Toughness gear they can only manage to get 18k HP even with food?
My Warrior gets that in full Zerker and not a single point on Vit. Yes, Thieves ARE squishy. They just have a lot of evasive options. Learn the difference.
If you feel that you are somehow “easy to kill” / “squishy” as a thief, you are just a bad player. I’m not even a good thief yet I hardly ever die. If I do it’s because I did something super stupid. (like ran to legendary defenders)
Learn the difference.
I have already: evasion >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> face tanking.
You are denying that Thieves can’t take much abuse before dying. That is what squishy means. Try to save face all you want, but you are wrong, plain and simple.

AVOIDING an attack is very different from eating one. And under the right circumstances, any class can force a Thief to eat a hefty number of attacks either killing him or forcing him to run away.
By your logic guard is squishy as well. xD Let’s look at the facts:
1. Guard and Thief have same low base health.
2. Guard has ~200 more armor. So he takes about 10% less damage, and so has only 10% better EHP.You just have to realise that in this game “squishiness” has nothing to do with base stats / armor. It’s all just a matter of how you spec your character.
And under the right circumstances, any class can force a Thief to eat a hefty number of attacks either killing him or forcing him to run away.
Well under the right circumstances true is false and false is true. But kitten comments aside, it’s certainly easier to force any other class, except perhaps mesmer, to eat up damage than it is to force a thief. That is the reason so many thieves (and mesmers) run a glass build: because they can.
