Guild Wars 2

guardians are a great support class for wvw, and can respec / regear depending on your crew. For small scale, I run greatsword and hammer, and for guildstuff I run staff / mace & shield. At tower / keep defenses with siege, I run hammer / staff for the #5 blocks.

It is good to have WM back. Had some great fights vs. them today in JQ bl. Sadly it was a 2 way fight, cause JQ was no where to be seen.

Interesting insight into our strategy…I don’t seem to hear our commanders on TS say “ALright guys, there’s the enemy lets run”. But then again, I’m sure someone who isn’t in the guild, who isn’t in the TS server and who doesn’t play on the game server probably has a much better idea of what our “strategy” is. You asked for people to explain your strategy, and I gave it a shot, which as you point outs, only relies on observations I have done as your enemy. If your commander aint shouting “retreat”, I guess your soldiers are just bad at following orders, and run away on their own.

As for my experience on JQ (I’m in FIRE, we play in one borderland a week) no one ever talks about who would be “easier” to take on or not. Our leaders look at the map we are on, and decide what seems most vulnerable on the map at the time. If you seem to think we keep attacking you over SBI, perhaps it is because your holdings appear more vulnerable, more often? As for my first-hand experience, I was gone again this weekend but got back yesterday. My time playing last night involved attacking an SBI tower 2 or 3 times, an SBI keep once, a BG tower once and the Garrison (owned by BG) once. That seems to favor attacking SBI, but maybe my math is wrong and I need you to explain my team’s “strategy” to me?

Id love to see a new map with a tower / keep inside a mountian ( like there was in WAR )

Id also love to see some destroyable objects in world vs. world like bridges and walls around suppy camps.

Most of all Id love to see some wvw maps that are way bigger and removal of X´s from the map. This would counter zerging, and by that helping out the culling issues.

Sounds like the op still has alot to learn about the game.

First off to HB on JQ BL. All yuo did was turtle my group of ten people. All 30 of you, turtled just to kill my group of ten. That is the extent of how much we fought you. And when we finally decided to push, you were gone. So… meh. Was not too impressed. I’m sorry, but the wrongness of your claims is insulting. SBI and BG teamed up on JQ (who at the start of the campaign, owned the entire map.) And we pushed them back. We pushed them all the way back to a single tower. Tower was on BG’s side of the map, and yet they failed to take it. And note, SBI had outmanned throughout all of this. (get sick of people claiming outmanned as an excuse) After awhile, JQ starting pushing us both back. BG lost Garrison, SBI lost DE. And then SBI and JQ duked it out for a very long time. The only attacks BG had against them were my small 10 man group, trying to ninja things. Stop pretending it took 3 hours. It took 3 hours of ignoring you, and when we finally pushed, you cracked like an egg and left the map. So I am sorry, but speak the truth. Lies are not appreciated Mr. Steadfast.

Cool storry bro. Fact is we took your fully upgraded Bay and Garrison alongside RK in the EU primetime, and both had atleast 30 defenders.

Second later in the evening ( NA primetime ) We at no point had more than 18 in WvW. Yes we did turtle, and yes we did kick your a.. 10 of you, you say? So Fire, Foo and the other JQ guilds that were pushing garrison and Bay did nothing?

We managed to hold Bay for hours while outmanned, and in the end we lost it due to SBI attacking from the south, and JQ from the north. It is a solid tactic to attack an enemy when you see the outmanned buff on them. We do it aswel. Just dont fool yourself to believe that your “10 man group” had anything to do with it.

Great 3 way fights in JQ BL all day. Cheers to both JQ and SBI for the fun.

Good fights so far this weekend.. Nice fighting spirit in both FOO and Fire, they just keep on comming back no matter how many times you wipe em. I dont know many guilds that would do that

It is pretty obvious now that all 3 servers had a drop in wvw numbers. The reason for this is unsure, but the game is still young, and I guess at this point every server has to look at how they can keep it up.

Props to KnT, DiE LotD and RK on BG for keeping up the fights even when outnumbered alot and it all looks hopeless.

I was untill a few minuttes ago. 7.30 am here, and had another guild commander take over our guys. Gjeep is our guildleader if that is what you are asking.

Off topic, good fights in BG BL all night. Props to [Fire] for their defense at bluewater lowlands. Took us a few tries to take it down. Also [LoD] on SBI has put up one hell of a fight. You guys hurt

Thanks all for a good game again. It has been a week filled with good fights, and also less QQ on the forums!

3 things I´m going to remember from this week:

1) Our Omega golem fun in EB, and the push we made that night.
2) Finally seeing an enemy guild using the “turtle” – Kudos to [Fire]
3) Loosing RQ as a guild on BG. It is going to take time to recover and re-structure from this.

A special thank goes out to those BG players that on short notice stepped up, and showed both SBI and JQ that Blackgate is far from dead.

I nominate Smokee for human cloning experiments. We need more commanders like you. The minute you left EB things started going downhill fast. Within an hour we were outmanned and then we got pounced upon.

Ironically our NA coverage is probably the weakest. The server is full but nobody is queuing for WvWvW. That makes me a sad panda.

First of all thanks for the positive comments on the video.

Second I just want to say that at the time I left EB with around 30 DEYS, there was a rather long Q for EB, and we did have a second commander in there, so I thought it was safe to leave it.

The 2 resets hurt us really hard yesterday. Before the first one, we had commanders and a good amount of people in all 4 lakes. When we came back we were only able to field people for 2 small armies in BL´s, and an almost full EB. At the second, we were in SBI garrison with keep lord on 50%, and defenders wiped.

A humble thank you to everyone from BG for entering the fight today.

Just to clear out any misinformation, HB are still on BG and have no plans on leaving. We are still out in wvw every day, causing tears and grief to SBI and JQ.

JQ and SBI aren’t friends, but I never had a problem with SBI using nasty tactics to win. BG on the other hand made me down right sick today.

HB, a BG guild, kept using the portals over and over against us in Eternal Battlegrounds. I don’t mean just using a portal here and there. I mean using them to get in our home keep (lowlands). Defend Lowlands by using portals behind us and worse when we did take back lowlands, using portals to climb up and down the keep.

Using stacks of Mesmsers and portals was simply disgusting. At least SBI can take us head on. You mobilized an entire army with hit and run tactics we could barely defend against. I have never seen people perfect portal tactics to the extreme as this. Words can not describe what a nightmare it was in Lowlands keep today.

You give us to much credit. We were only 15-20 people out having some fun in EB. And just to clarify we did´nt use mesmer portals “to get in your keep” we took it fair, using rams on the gate. If in doubt, view the video I posted above.

In the end you guys figured out to build arrow carts and take us down. Kudos to those who figured it out.

Typically these stacks hit gates. Correct me if I’m wrong but a catapult behind the gate firing on the gate should pretty much break that up, no? Any structure that doesn’t have a catapult behind the gate is not one that is looking to be defended.

A catapult certainly helps, but when people stack in this fashion they’ll usually have constant stability and healing that will easily off-set the damage and knockback.

Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t catapults limited in the amount of targets they can hit as well?

11 hours into the fight and the boards are filled with JQ people crying over this tactic in different threads. Instead of spending your time crying on the forums, maybe you should watch, learn and adapt. We´ve faced many servers before yours and used this tactic.

If you read these boards carefully, you´ll learn that it´s easy to counter.

SBI – Good fights so far. You seem even more coordinated than last time.

But…let’s step back and say you’re right – let’s say that if I want a balanced WVW match then it is 100% my responsibility to move to a crowded server 8000 miles away. No problem – just make sure I don’t lose the 100k+ worth of influence I’ve spent fully upgrading my guild so as to deliver 24/7 buffs to our guild members who support us.

Like someone else before me said, latency aint an issue for EU players playing on the NA servers, or the other way around.

Also why care about the guildinfluence? It takes 2-3 weeks for a medium sized guild to get it maxed again, and the only thing you should care about as a wvw guild either way is the fort bonusses.

Having NA people move to the EU servers, and EU people moving to the NA servers, would also mean less Q in the respective primtimes, more action for those that don´t play in primetime, and who knows. Maybe you´ll pick up a trick or two from playing on the other side?

Here´s a video shot a few nights ago, showing some of our fights.

Fact 1: Most ET and HoD guilds did´nt transfer to BG. This is a common assumption made by “Charlieprince” and other trolls from other servers.

Fact 2: Before the ET and HoD transfers, BG had 2 OCE and asian guilds covering some close to 12 hour, where it got beaten by SBI and IoJ numbers in the same timezone.

Fact 3: Most of the ET and HoD transfers are OCE and asian guilds.

Fact 4: After recieving an influx of EU, OCE and asian guilds to cover their timezone gaps, BG have actively been trying to recruit for other servers with gaps in their TZC.

Fact 5: No one knows if BG is the most packed server, but I guess if you tell the same storry over and over, someone will start to believe you. Next week will show if BG has improved enough in both TZC and in coordination since the last time we faced SBI.

Fact 6: If next week is a blowout, several “new” BG guilds, have already stated that they´ll be leaving BG to even things out.

Sceptus you guys put up a descent fight, but get over yourself really. You only make yourself look bad by posting obvious BS.

Hopefully Arenanet wont realise how powerfull it is and nerf it.

What are you guys talking about? As a melee you net 3-4 gold pr evening in WvW, and thats when you stock up alot of siege aswel. On a good full day during the weekend, you can easy make more than 10 gold after repairs.

Vorpal you can contunie repeating your own statements, and you would still be wrong.

If FA does´nt have good timezone coverage, dont blame Arenanet for your failure as a server. Do something about it.

And to answer the op, if you can´t beat your enemy when outmanned, dont blame the game, blame yourself. It´s easy to beat 4-5 times your numbers aslong as you have a guild with a bit of coordination. Here´s a hint for you. It´s called guildwars – maybe get in a guild?

The previous week we ( BG ) were up against IoJ and SBI, and even though we lost, it was the best WvW we ( my guild ) had experienced so far in WvW. If you only think winning is fun, you should´nt be playing a pvp mmo.
This week we´re up against ET and HoD, and I admit it´s borring as hell. Even more borring that fighting TC and FA last week. Atleast TC put up a fight there, and tried their best. However this allows for us to get some new tactics tried out, getting people geared and letting the people that are into pve do a bit of that, without having to take them out into wvw as soon as they log on.

The orbs is a great idea ! It adds a whole new dimension to the strategies, and taking it away would´nt solve anything.

Is this the same TA that played WAR on Karak-Azgal?

There are several ways to counter it, but telling it would be like giving away free gold.

Do some theory crafting and get together your guild to test it out.

Sounds like 2 guilds working together. What a drama !

You can do the same. So stop the qq and pick up the tactic if you think it´s op.

Chances is you can´t cause you´r playing in a random guild with random people.

As a player from one of the EU guilds that rescently transfered to a NA server, I can safely say it´s been the best thing that´s happened to us so far.

1) There is 0 queues for WvW in primetime
2) Your fights make a big impact on the servers outcome
3) You will always have fights, without having to fight “invisible” armys most of the time.
