The trait should just give you stealth upon being disabled. Or better yet, how about it entangles your foe for a few seconds?

I don’t like how camouflage is removed once you move. What’s the point of standing still after a stun? The enemy will know you’re nearby and can probably hit you again.

Woah, this talk of preparations reminded of an old, but great suggestion to replace pets.

Basically, it was that your f1-4 skills became preps like fire arrows, poison arrows etc… And that they would have special functions and things. Can’t remember the details of it and who made it up, but it was awesome and I would’ve loved to see it implemented.

Personally speaking I do not understand how you melee rangers do it. Maybe because I main a Guardian like forever and only recently switched to a Ranger. But when I go melee I always end up eating dirt.

Side note – have you tried the prickly pear pie? Life steal plus condition. I use it on my trapper and love it.

Well the main hand axe is ranged, and the strategy with sword is to evade through your bonfire. Once it runs out you swap back to axe. So its not melee like guardian GS or anything.

But overall you need to be close to your target to land splitblade, and also get those geometry sigil proc’s if you use them. The build can’t really deal much damage from ranged, aside from having the pet attack while you kite.

Back to what that guard said, regen rangers have a ton of sustain and evasion. And if they run settlers instead of apothecary, they can eat a lot of damage, so being close to a target doesn’t affect them as much. Its probably the best duelling spec we have.

The spec he’s running isn’t what I usually run. I drop 6 into beastmastery and 2 into nature magic along with signet of the wild. Lets me nail perma regen, and with the passive regen from the signet I get almost around 480hp/s, and that isn’t even counting troll unguent.

I’ve reported this before. Has to do with using the skill when changing elevations (its happened to me while going up a hill too).

Can we get a fix please; it’s actually very troublesome when it happens in the middle of a fight.

I was testing this in spvp today. What I did was, I stood the furthest away from a golem I could and used Maul until it no longer connected. Maul has a range of 220, and hilt bash has a range of 300, so at the drop off distance for Maul, hilt bash should still hit. Well, it didn’t, and no matter how many times I retried the experiment, I got the same results.

Personally, I think it’s too unreliable. 1/5 chance isn’t enough, and you have to be attacking to top it off.

As suggested above, reflecting projectiles while evading could see some use from me if it were ever implemented, but as the trait stands, I wouldn’t wager using it.

It plays a lot like a Guardian Hammer does imo, but it just lacks the controlling conditions to land Maul reliably.

Your suggestion is fine, but I think the problem is more with how easily avoidable Hilt Bash and the Counterattack GS throw are, which makes Maul less valuable because of how much harder it is to set up hits for it.

Hilt Bash could stand to have a range increase and maybe a slight decrease to the delay, and the GS throw animation and velocity could be sped up, and the cripple is alright, but could be changed to an immobilize if it was to be a super controlling weapon.

The autoattack is also fairly weak still as well. I think that at least the first 2 hits could be sped up, leaving the 3rd animation as it is.

That would be my preferences for the weapon though.

I was doing some testing the other day and I swear that hilt bash’s range isn’t actually 300. I would strike a golem from the maximum distance I could with maul and found that hilt bash would only connect within that same distance, which give it a range of 220.

Test itself yourself too, might be a bug which needs reporting.

But the claws go down on their bodies at the same time = 1 hit.

If two separate things strike a target at the same time, it still counts as two hits. If anything, the bear animation shows two claws, but the greatsword itself only slams down on the target once. I know that counters my own argument, but this is a fantasy game and I still think maul and Gs would be better off with two hits.

I’ve always thought it would fit the animation better, two grizzly claws coming down on a victim. I can’t shake the idea, it just feels more right.

Not only that, but greatsword could still use a bit of work. The weapon itself is easy to avoid, and with its lone damage skill being negated by a single blind or aegis, I think it would be justified.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Please no. I say that because this is what they did with LB and SB. They ‘buffed’ the LB by nerfing the SB range. So knowing ANet they will ‘buff’ the GS by doing something irresponsible to the MH Sword.

That’s just not true. It’s a revised history put forth by those who refused to see anything positive in the changes Anet implemented. Repeating it doesn’t make it true. The June 25, 2013 release notes are as clear as day:

  • Long Range Shot: Reduced the aftercast from .5 seconds to .25 seconds. Increased the arrow speed by 15%.

  • Point Blank Shot: Increased the arrow speed by 15%.
  • Barrage: Increased the cripple duration by 50%.
  • Crossfire: Decreased the range to 900.
  • Poison Volley: Decreased the range to 900.
  • Quick Shot: Decreased the range to 900. Increased the damage by 14%.
  • Crippling Shot: Decreased the range to 900. Increased the damage by 14%.
  • Concussion Shot: Decreased the range to 900. Increased the damage by 14%. Reduced the aftercast by .25 seconds.

Coincident with SB’s reduction to 900 range, they basically gave Longbow a 20% DPS buff. The autoattack’s rate of fire was reduced from 1.25 sec/shot to 1.00 sec/shot. RF and Barrage were improved as well.

Oh man, I remember that update. They nerfed bm’s and then shortbow, what a rough day.

This also marked the start of the spirit ranger meta and hambow meta. Can’t believe it was so long ago.

This is yet another idea to buff up an already viable way of playing Ranger. But unlike Entangle idea, Maul would be broken.

You are right, what about the Nature renewal (spirit active) ? allied down ? cast healing spring and then blast it XD… ok that would also be a bit OP.

In all seriousness I feel that ranger could use 1 more blast finisher, on what weapon/skill I don’t know, maybe give some love to shortbow or shouts.

I think it’s about time they rework search and rescue. Make it something different, unique, and a blast finisher.

There’s nothing wrong with signets. They have remained the same since almost release (they had their cooldowns rightfully lowered a few months afterwards).

The only problem, if there even is a problem, is rapid fire.

Everything else is just fine.

This has to have been a mistake. One of the dev’s probably added in the 10s ICD by mistake when doing tool-tip corrections and bug fixes.

Otherwise, they’ve essentially made it so any skill which can maintain one stack of vulnerability on a target is more valuable than this skill.

That’s too young of an age to start gaming imo. I began play mmo’s when I was very young (around 8-9) and eventually became very overweight as a result. It did a number on my self-esteem for a few years as well.

I am of healthy weight now, but that was only because of my ability to turn around such a weight gain. Not all people would be able to.

I’m not saying this would happen to your daughter, but it’s best to enroll her in physical activities, like sports or camps. It’s good for socializing too. And if she doesn’t like those activities, you must either make her do them anyway for her own good (my parents made me play soccer and lacrosse when I was young, and it probably did a good number preventing me from becoming obese), or spend time with her exploring other hobbies (you two could enroll in an art program, maybe take skating lessons together. You can do anything you think of)

There’s lots to do. You just need to know where to look. Mmo’s are good for entertainment, but not much else. Keeping her healthy and fit is the best option.

You’re right, asuras are the best, but not everyone has one.

You can use runes of the nightmare if you want. I prefer ranger runes simply for the huge damage boost they give.

Its been mentioned quite a few times, but deemed unreliable due to RNG. Furthermore, your skill bar sometimes glitches while picking the items up.

There are better alternatives for rangers to stun lock with.

The only RNG is boar F2. But it works fine for the most part.

I don’t think this should be in game anymore, be it 5 or 3 stacks. Overall I think it was a bad change that doesn’t promote strategic use of immobilize and allows for unfair lockdowns of opponents.

Simple and short, its been said many times before but I just want the idea to stay fresh in a-nets mind for the next palance patch. Please remove it.

I did miss the necro hit for that much. I stopped watching with all the extremely low numbers in the first fight (pick a better initial fight for a power ranger video!) I’ll have to give it another shot, which I am super happy to do for power rangers.

With spoiling it for me, 8.5k sounds ridiculous, was that a SotH + MoC boost?

This is a soldiers build. I don’t run zerk because zerk rangers get eaten.

And if I did hit an 800 maul, then it was against a bunker with protection on. The zerker variant of me would’ve done 1.6k in the same scenario.

I’m surprised this topic hasn’t come up before, and I’m sure many of you have probably tried a build like this at least once.

This build is actually really solid. It’s not meant for anything serious, like competitive PvP. But it’ll do you well for general pvp and roaming. For the most part, it’s fun and rewarding if done right.

Don’t underestimate its stunning capabilities. Two and a half second stuns on sb and gs with 20 second cooldowns. Wolf fear lasts three seconds in addition to his knockdown. Boar F2 is actually really good. It gives you a 5 1/4 second stun with a bone drop, 4 second daze with a rock drop, and a 7 1/2 fear with the skull (has a 120 second cooldown, however). The boar also has a 3 second knockdown which rarely hits but is great when it does.

To those boar naysayers, his F2 is not unreliable at all. Its on you to call it in when you know you’re in the position to pick up his item. Just be aware of the cool down on the skull. If you do get one on cooldown, then just drop it. Also, the bone he drops is unfairly spammable. No matter how many times it is blocked or evaded, it won’t go away until it hits someone.

You actually have decent evasion capability as well, especially if you are capable of “tagging” the greatsword (you strike the first two auto’s, then purposely miss the third so you can cast it twice, granting you two seconds of evasion for every auto chain).

Striders defence needs something additional to it to be taken seriously. It really is nowhere near the usefulness of the other two GM traits.

And heal as one still needs that minor buff. If you ask me, it should follow the Rampage as One skill design. RaO is an offensive skill that grants offensive buffs and then a unique offensive buff. HaO should do the same, but defensively.

Oh and opening strike needs to be reworked as well. There was a good thread with many ideas on it, one of them being that opening strike resets on weapon and can also be unblockable, which would be great if they came true.

While I certainly welcome the changes, and think they’re excellent for PvP, it still needs a lot of help for WvW.

While I do agree that this won’t really help in WvW much, I don’t think any amount of dps boosts or number crunching will actually help us without making us totally overpowered in any other game mode.

It’s the pet that holds us back in WvW, and since it’s inherent to the class, this problem might never go away.

The only solution I can even think of is if they introduced some sort of active scaling for pet aoe resistance based on the number of enemy players present, but that sounds pretty far fetched imo.

Not that I’m not super hyped, I mean, obviously I am, I finally have motivation to finish my Kudzu now lol. But I just mean to remind people in general that it isn’t like it super-buffs the class. They are good and well deserved changes but there is an equal amount of counterplay involved against the new specs we can create and we aren’t getting buffed to the point where we’re going to be “god tier.”

They’ve addressed 1/4 of the problems we have. They’ve made Beastmaster stronger, the longbow stronger, the axe stronger for PvP (not in all regards tho) and GS stronger. Now we still have too much traits affecting only one weapon, a class mechanic that is still lack luster, the other weapons which also have flaws and entire traitlines which are flawed.

I really hated it when they added read the wind. It made way too much competition for longbow traits.

They should’ve just done a 20% increase in projectile speed for both longbow and shortbow (even though rtw doesn’t affect shortbow). It would’ve been better imo.

Five traits to choose from when going longbow? Come on.

So I watched skillbar on the ready up and was impressed by the changes to both Ranger & Engineer.

The skillbar format itself is excellent and a big improvement, delivering a lot of information in a easy to follow 5 minute burst. It also looked very professional, slick.

However, I think Anet are missing a ‘trick’ here. Why wait till all 8 classes have been covered by ready up before implementing them in game? If the Ranger/Engineer balance changes are ready to go, then put them ingame at the next update!

The advantages of this:-

1. You are currently getting a lot of posts of players bored to death by the current meta. Releasing 2 characters balance changes in a update, means your going to change the meta, 4 times in 2 months. No one will complain about a boring 4 month long meta then.

2. Releasing this way, will see 4 surges of players flocking back to GW2 to try the balance changes.

3. Number of people playing both sPvP and WvW will go up because again players will want to test there ‘new’ skils on other players.

4. Players will have 2 weeks to figure out the ‘new’ Ranger & Engineer and then the next 2 weeks figure out the 2 new classes etc…It continues skillbars method of putting the spotlight on 2 classes at a time.

Please like/comment if you want those balance changes in the next update or the one after, rather than 2 months+ from now.

Yes, please release the ranger and engi changes next patch. I can’t wait any longer.

And Entange was more of a nerf.

No, entangle is one hell of a buff. No one stayed in that entanglement for more than a few seconds, provided it didn’t miss and they weren’t stupid (and if they were stupid, you would’ve killed them anyway).

Now it has A. Better sync with on-use elite runes (such as rune of lyssa)
B. Better sync with survival of the fittest
C. Better general use for snaring/escaping

It’s just a much better skill now.

Does this mean a 50% increase in dps or the skill just doesn’t last as long?

yes for rapid fire, does its damage over 2.5secs , add Quicken zypher it will shorten that by onther 50% to 1.75secs. more burst but not more damage.

This will honestly be some insane burst, with or without quickness.

Full glass, I routinely hit 8-10k with a full rapid fire in sPvP. Now imagine doing the same in half, or one third, the time.

I have a feeling they’ll reduce the total damage of the skill by like 20-25% percent or so in the future. But either way, this is kittening awesome; we actually HAVE BURST NOW.

There is always so much chat in game about people wanting Cantha brought back to the game and I honestly have to say I don’t understand why.

In my opinion, in Guild Wars, the Canthan humans you could create were the least physically attractive in terms of their features which seemed to be over exaggerated. Of course this is personal taste as with everything in the game world.

Additionally, I did not care for the map areas of Cantha, especially the more urban type areas where one could get lost for hours and never make any progress except for going in circles and becoming really aggravated while doing so. I not so affectionately referred to these areas as the rooftops and it seemed I was forever lost in the rooftops not making any progress.

Guess I don’t personally see the attachment players have to Cantha.

As annoying as running through the mazes of buildings could be, cantha had a beautiful and unique style that differentiated itself a lot more than the other campaigns did.

There were so many limitations when designing cantha due to the old game engine and it still turned out beautiful, even with the inherent limitations. That’s exactly why i would like to see cantha return, it’s full of so much potential that could now be opened up thanks to the new game engine. Can you imagine how much more fun navigation would ve with the new vertical axis? The new game engine would be able to fix the issues that existed and turn it into an amazingly fun new place to explore.

I have to say, if for some miraculous reason a-net ever does release Cantha in GW2, it wil be THE most beautiful thing in a video game, ever.

I like this, and it seems balanced enough. Doubling the passive effects might not be balanced though. Maybe have the trait increase them by 50% instead?

If there’s any trap to drop in the spec I posted, it would be spike trap. Frost trap is the most powerful trap we have. Its a large ice field with 5 pulses of 2 second chills (10s total, not counting cd duration) on a 24 second cooldown. That is very powerful.

But like I said before, there isn’t a standard trap build and you can play around all you want.
