i got two idea my first would be alliance battles from gw factions (with slight changes like once a team got 500 points the enemy gate openes and you can channel the enemy respawner which will lead to a 12 v 12 deathmatch if both spawners are shut down)
surely you could do this with any amount of layers on each side if you have a big pool of maps to choose from depending on the players playing
i think this game mode is highly entertaining since capping points is important holding as well..not letting your enemy getting these points also
but ..
if one team (experienced wvw guild) always keps on zerging and the enemy team reaching 500faster ..but the wvw team not dieing..
it could become ..interesting since you need at some point to win a fight.. otherwise it wont end well for you xD

you have failed to understand the purpose of the topic. we are not seeking out hearts. it adds to the immersion of the game. please provide evidence that this was intentional. it’s most likely due to laziness and rushed development time. what if anet suddenly removed dynamic events and only had a single open world boss fight and dungeon? wouldn’t that suck? thats how i feel with hearts.
Zones without hearts/vistas/skillpoints/POI and all that other jazz feel incomplete.
I don’t expect hearts in the new zones. The game has fewer and fewer as you progress through the higher level zones intentionally. They are only there in the lower level zones as a marker of sorts, a “hey check around here for events” training type object. By the time we get to the top level maps we should be actively seeking events, not hearts.

I did a quick google to see what kind of pets we could look forward to (searched for Maguuma Jungle wildlife) and one or two caught my eye.
Obviously, the warthog was in the trailer but it is already a charmable pet, but on the old guild wars wiki it mentions a “Fevered Devourer” and a “Jungle Skale”
Now, the Devourer had an elite called “Virulence” that could be slightly modified to cause torment, poison and weakness on an enemy that has a condition on it (torment to replace the original “disease” effect) for its F2 ability. (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Fevered_Devourer)
The Jungle Skale could be fun, too since it’s active would most likely be a boon-stripping attack in place of it’s enchantment stripping original attack. (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Jungle_Skale)

It raises more questions than it answers, but that is a good thing. I like experiencing the big ticket items in the game for the first time instead of on youtube.
The big questions for me right now are, who attacked the Zephyrites and will we get to provide aid/help them out in any way? Aetherblades make the most sense, but they aren’t the only possibility (A dragon, Tengu, or even Evon Gnashblade – as revenge for supporting Kiel maybe).
And a new desert area will be fun – not sure if we’ll get to go there on July 1 (video makes it look like were just prepping/dealing with threats in Brisban), but I hope the gates actually open and we do.
Regardless, it looks great so far.

10 man parties would be nice. I’d appreciate that. Many forget, that GW1 had a similar aggro system which the ‘tank’ was more body blocking instead of tanking with aggro. Same were with the earliy Urgoz meta with 8 or so Rangers with pet, to body block the huge amounts of enemies.
Only those 10man groups are boring. It would work. I heard the ‘stacking 10 isn’t any different’-argument. The point is: just make the mechanics interesting where stacking isn’t possible. There are numerous encounter already in game where you can’t stack.
I see the possibility to split up 5 an 5 player groups to fight a twin-boss or fighting on different levels. At least we could have a little more epic fights with 10 people than with only 5. It’s just a bit boring. Anyway, at least I hope they will add new dungeons/raids…
well to not allow stacking they could add some sort of debuff like every 5 seconds a firetooth appears above your head
(10 players id say two groups of five who should work together)
and every team member gets a different timing so that every second a tooth will come down…
without massive protections or continous moving ball the players would have to split.. or the times of each group make duos so that two fire toths appear at the same place the whole time and they only have to doge onse in 5sec..or use aegis a block or something.. xDD
another way would be a constant fire aura around everyone so that if your aura touches an allie (and his you) you both get per half second 1k dmg (more if glasscannon) and 1.5second burning
or something like krit sigills players that are closer than 200 get struck by sigil of air every 3seco.. nah lets say 0,5seconds muhahah ..we dont want them to stack and thats how we educate you not to stack^^
make sure to only proc when players are nearby
it would suck if all the summon sigils traits builds runes….. everything would cause you to die a horrorible death xDD
in general i think anet should go back to gw1 there are a lot of ideas they can bring to gw2
like two teams of 5 (in gwfactions 2 teams of 8 ) fighting through missions
also groups who split up vizunah square + deep..
urgoz the deep or other areas where you have different chamber effects
i dont mean add chamber effects..but you could make a whole dungeon with such an effect so that you have to build specially for this dungeon to not buff your group if enemies corrupt your boons or steal your boons and use them on their own..
btw please add some mobs to make something like aoe boon to condi transfering

or.. you would just remove regeneration and knock around so that he wont start regeneration again

your edge of the mists creatures do have some interesting feaures like no dmg from the front (i love that)

i dont even know if theyre still working on new legendarys but if they do they would have to match 1sword with 2pistols 2 swords(u can have twice the same sword) 2torches 2warhorns 2mazes 2axes 2pistols 2shields 2daggers 2fokuses (or whatever several fokus… are) … a lot of combinating auras and that was just ONE sword if theyre working on new legendarys…
if teyre not itd still be 10combination auras for the sword (if double blitz looks differently than just one
and then there are also combinations like axe shield… a lot to do…
so i doubt this will happen
however if enough people request shinier onehanded legendarys
or request funktions like show the aura of by offhand weapon instead of the default mainhand legendary

id like it it would encourage players to hold their rank in the lb (even if the leaderboards are in some ways often pretty inacurrate)

You CAN apply both Hard CC and conditions (soft CC included), you just can’t do any direct damage, as it’s all reduced to 0. This mechanic allows you to crit and proc crit sigils or traits, and otherwise generate effects like boon removal, or condition removal/transfer with sigils.
Incorrect. I face warriors every day. Condition applications require the direct damage component to “hit” the target to apply the condition. This means warriors will continue to take condition damage they already have, but you can not apply new conditions to them during the effect. Additionally since necros only form of CC is fear and this is a condition you can not CC a warrior as a necro either.
sure u cant fear a war while berserker stance but u can while endure pain
if he uses both…both is on cd in a couple of seconds and you should really waste all your fear into berserker stance
especially for necro it is reallly important to see if your target got stability or in case of the warrior berserker stance as well
and if he does just dont cc…
the only thing i would do is buff rangers invulnerability since it does only make you invulnerable to direct damage without stability or condi reductuon and still does not allow capturing point
i think warriors stances are fairly well balanced
in comparison with other classes invulnerability
the problem lies with rangers invul which is clearly weaker than warriors and all others

changing stats should ONLY be possible for legendarys

and then the change to ascendet would still be greater than it is now since ascended gives you more of an advantage
and legendary would be even better since theyfully benefit from every viable sigil our there since you can change the stats to condition damage like mesmer zepter or different sigill and stat combo usefull for direct damage..
yeah i think i will really like at the end of one release still missing one or two achievements friends asking me to come pvp cause they are 4/5..
and i can say yeah sure ill do these achievements in halv a year.. i got the story so i can do it whenever i want

It’s called “stat padding” and in the end it’s meaningless. They will be high rank and getting stomped out by average players. If they are doing it to farm loots… well they are wasting a HUGE amount of time that could be spend elsewhere on a far more efficient farm.

sure afks some matches are unfair but.. unfair matches end just as quickly as hotjoin matches with better rewards and fair matches sure are great as well..^^

in general i reeeeeaaaallly dislike the idea of oneshot skills cince that encourages to use zerker stuff since if oneshot it doesnt matter if you have close to 4000 toughness or 2000…
but some kind of punishment for simply autoattacking from far would be nice
for close range every 20sseconds a 3second fear
and for range above 1200 (up to 2000) every 20seconds 3stacks konfusion
or to make not all bosses have the same skill others could have some pull(or teleport) up to 25players into a orb (like liadris) and then a high damaging(not instakill) long lasting aoe that pretty much kills everyone who does not move (ie autoattack)
note:this aoe should not be able to spawn in mellee range of boss!!
or simply some retaliation phase the boss gets every few seconds.. (even if i dont like that method since this does not allow attacking at all whilst others let you attack when u do it right..)
moving bosses couldprioritize players that did not move for the longest time a bit more (even if i doubt its be that easy to program..)
overall i think they showed us quite interesting mechanics in hte crown pavilion
like retaliation on ogre
healing turret..(i didnt mention that..xD)
the pirate who lays a ton of aoes around him/her idk that are dodgeable and really fun..sure there is an afk option if lured to the side…. but the mechanic itself is nice

Lol no, Ele, if focused, is far better at handling pressure than a Warrior. Perma vigor, Burning Speed, RTL, Lightning Flash+Protection and mistform are all great escapes. A warrior will NOT last more than 3-5 seconds more than a Ele ON point, but he has no means of disengaging, while Ele has a lot. If the Ele sees that he’s been focused, he can move away easily and only a thief can chase him down (but even then it would take quite a while and if this happens)
What about endure pain and berserker’s stance coupled with cleansing ire?
these stances combined with more toughness and vitality make hte hambow really tanky
but eles mobility is much better
and also most of the eles buffs and heals do heal everyone around him
me bunker guard and a d/d friend of mine win 2 v 3s on far quite often .. sure it may be the others who suck
but even if the 3s are strong they need a lot of effort to get gurd + ele down
I always like to imagine ways to implement the wishes of some of the player base without impacting the rest that think that “it’s fine the way it is”.
The thing I imagined was a “Legendary Mode”, which would work kinda like Hardcore on Diablo.
Players that, on character creation, chose “Legendary mode” for this character, would have the “Legendary” title and even the purple character frame for that character, and would enjoy something like 500% magic find.
If they were able to complete Story Mission (or some other equally distant objective) without dying, they would be rewarded with a Precursor instead of the weapon that is currently the reward for completing Story Mission.
Also, some achievement points would apply for the people that chose to play on this mode when they reached a milestone.
And LFG could have an option to limit your search to Legendary characters because their play styles would probably be much different from the normal playerbase (imagine a bad kite on a dungeon, could ruin 80+ hours of game). And also the option to keep those players out of your “normal player” search, because of course there would be a lot of people using this to try to farm Precursor and using “normals” as shields to avoid risking their precious Legendary characters.
(Oh, maybe the Legendary character could choose to ressurect on death, but if he/she did that, it would lose the chance to precursor, the magic find bonus, and the accolades. And would have permanently the title “Disgraced hero”. Nasty!)
In summation, great rewards and a lot of recognition for the ones that choose that path, and strictly optional so the people who prefer Theme Park Wars continue happy (like me! I play this for fun…).
Do you guys and gals see problems with that idea?
i actually do
a lot of things had to be changed like tomes of knowledge cant be used u cant equip equipment that u havnt found with this special character otherwise itd be waaaaay too easy
story line no party members can join up and “help you” without scaling the whole instance (or rather just disabke this function)
the storyline itself would need some sort of remake because it is too easy for such a reward
many precursors would swarm the trading post (unless you make it account bound on aquire)which then follows in less players want to buy them from trading post thus prices still drop…
i think thats it
however i really like your idea
and just to make something like that and once youve survived the storyline or something challenging…
getting rewarded by a few achievement points and a unique title would be enough i think

^ good luck with that XD, once its fired its fired, if a guardian puts retaliation on his whole group you’re in trouble :P
that being said there are very few skills like Barrage which can’t be stopped,
so anyone taking ridiculous amounts of retal damage probably deserves it for mindlessly spamming aoe.
i love getting group retaliation when i see an off-guard porting to us and starts whirling around…
especially guards who dont have much basic hp

well.. you could change liadri so that not four directions are full of aoe but 4/6 is aoe these aoes deal damage so if u get hit by one aoe u are down if zerker if tanky u will hvve about 30%left
also the spead of the aoes increse so that the player has to keep the same speed in order to not get hit

make not full zerkers a bit more viable since as it is currently
zerker is thebest option due to the time limit..
and not getting many advantedes out of vitality or toughness since pretty much everything oneshots you..
but i hope with the upcoming permanent content hardcore achievements
there will be less things that require a short time thus a high dps
if they do want this oneshot emchanic they could take other ways to go around zerker / tanky specs even classes
just make these hardcore achievements like the event chain in the sylvary starter zone where you get transformed into a crab moa drake or something
even if that would not feel like liadry anymore since the finding the “best” skills weapons etc for the class becomes pretty much irrelevant..
im sure the upcoming hardcore content
will not all be the same
there are a lot of things anet can do
also hese achievements stay there forever when im right
so no more maah i cant do it with this class and i dont have a engineer..it costs me soo much QQ ….

From my point of view (as I have already mentioned in various other threads), the main reason for the somewhat toxic environment it admittedly currently has is that new and veteran players are thrown together. This just doesn’t work out.
The matchmaking needs rework. E.g. mixing a rank 10 with a rank 80 is just not right and most likely a bad experience for BOTH sides.
The way it works now I feel that the only thing that keeps players from moving away from pvp (to a large degree) is the rewards.
i wouldnt count ranks i would check how many tournament games played
not hotjoin
not glora/rank farm
only tournaments since it is a tournament situation and if two players does not have any tournament experience they will most likely screw the whole team up
letting mid / far freecap resing whilst just one more hit on target would secure it all and such…
all things that you dont know necessarry as lvl 80 but my guildies
(some even udner 10 which i play together via voice chat as 80 )
learn steadily
they know how to play their class from wvw
but map overview and stuff is something that you have to learn either way
i think it should be possible in teamq to be matched with 2level 8 2level 13 and one level 80 against 5 level 80
but in solo q it should be changed to players with less than 50games(tournament) played CANT be mixed together with guys that have played 500games
same goes for people with less than 200 cant play with more than 1000
above the 200tournament games played id remove any limitations since by then they should know how it should be done
i thought you would wish for something to filter out the “ugly” skins out of your wardrobe when i first saw the title..^^
then i thought abour dyes and how anet could .. probably add a favourites skin tab to find the ones you like or want to use later more comfortable..

ascended armors… i do like most of them to a certain degree
they dont look that well if u wear all the parts since it looks like head and legs are made by one person and shulders + boots from another
but the parts on their own do often (i just dont like some of them) look kinda nice
and you could surely mix them into some armours
you can transmutate your armor now easier than ever be4 and get the transmutation charges easier
so if u cant stand a single piece…change it
EDIT: i do like the heavy armor set ^-^
the sunglasses however..meh but i dont need to get them.. so i just let them be…

I think you didn’t understand Dee Jays Thread.He complains about all “regular” Hot Join Servers being full.
So, you “Join Now” makes you enter a Custom Arena, from which a big part are “Rank-farm Arenas”.Because the overload of Hot Join, players who wouldn’t usally play on Solo and TeamQ start playing there, without having proper experience.
I think, ANet rly needs to react quick and increase the amount of Hot Join Servers. There are so many new players, that a lot of them get pushed into some 10 vs. 10 custom zerg arenas, where you don’t learn anything.
if id work for anet id probly lower the daily limit you can get through reward chests for quite a bit ( 5-15 ) .
to drag the players to tournament pvp
sure more noobs in the tournaments but the other teams will have noobs too..
80 loss ratio in team que well yeah it sucks starting alone in teamq get together with noobs and then a premade team (ideal with voice chat) to fight against…
then go solo q!!!
soloq is fair in that regard
(sure a few matches are favored for the on team other for the other team but because there is so much randomed who will be in which team its fair overall even if only 50% of the matches need to be played since the others are decided pretty quickly…which is good since that means god guys win faster newer players see that the loose more often than win and ask themselve why and will improve…at some point in the future…hopefully)
a fractal reward track that gives you some token in the last reward and 10 of them can be traded into a full fractal weapon this token would ofc also implemented into the daily reward chests 50
would solve pretty much all problems and would give pvpers access to fractal weapons (as well as rising the fractal weapons people get from doing high fractals)
i dont like that there are so less people that run 50 because the reward is the same if u go 49 or 50 just that 50 requres 70ar and ar is somewhat expensive..so why even the bother…
well with these fractal weapon tokens youd have a guaranteed fractal weapon after doing 10 times fractals 50 which would ecourage some pvelers to get ascended armour weapons or the higher tiers of agnony resistance infusions..
whilst pvplers would have the option to get fractal weapons as well..
(ofc you could change it t u need 20tokens u get 1 through reward track and 2 through 50daily chest…. )

or add u need to have personal fractal level of 10 to actvate fractal track so that even pvplers with exotic gear had at least 1 time felt agony
without making it tooo hard of a grind
i do think even 10 might be too high since therefore u need to do 9 times 4 fractals
which is clearly longer than ANY storymode dungeon..
the necro with minions dies to aoe dmg he cnat heal himself that good and all the minions die
guardian got not so much vitallity health pool is quite low
but toughness and healingpower will make him the class you are looking for

i havnt seen any of these thigns in pvp yet but on teamspeak ive heard of guildies who had seen someone using more than two different kidn of weapons and.. they do know how the warriors sword longbow hammer and greatsword differs
but i doubt we will see anything like this in the tournament of legends since the upper rounds (and maybe some more i dont know) will be shoutcasted and the risk would probably be way to high
i do like the idea of condis doing their part but ONLY CONDIS DO DMG?!? is a bit too harsh
i think you should always have the option to restart if you fail
however you will take much longer to succeed
like guarding the npc while hes running fro mcheckpoint to checkpoint (long distances each with a boss at the end) and if the npcs dies group wipe which means fro mcheckpoint onwards
like the npc walks with a determined speed so that you would need enough dmg to kill him quickly but resistance against crit there fore doubled incoming condi dmg or something so that a group variety is at least helpfull
and ofc attacks that oneshot glasscannons but not oneshot soldiers clerics etc
maybe two shot zerkers.. so that magi would be usable as well..^^
bosses that aquire cc like he needs to be immobilized stunned or knocked down in a certain area to dmg him (like in fractals) just with the difference the boss would be some greatsword quickly moving whirling and rushing warrior

id like some kidn of high end dungeon as well
fractals wer emeant to be that but .. theyre not that challenging overall..
however there are some nice bosses in the fractals just have trust in anet they maybe bring something like fractals or just add some more fractal levels above 50 that get really challenging (but give extra rewards..

the armour you currently wear in pve.. will still exist…^^
and the armour youre wearing in pvp.. u get one charge for each pvp rank
which means u will most likely get 6 charges if you already got an full pvp armour ..xDD
well if du defeated him after a 2min fight (during this time the point ticked for the enemy) then u did won against him but it was a noobish move to attack a point that is captured from the enemy in the first place
if u defended it or kep far neutral however…

something with invisibility ? because inspvp u dont see that much invisibility its in 1v1 fights verrry usefull but u wont capture points.. you loose them
if you kill your target in a fw hits its oka cause then you can recap the point quickly enough…
did u make yourself invisible to stomp and let the enmy with that capture the point??
