They could fix this by doing one of these options
1. Code the mobs so that if they can’t reach you, then they run away.
2. If you kill a monster from a higher ground (where the monster would normally be invulnerable), there’s a big penalty to your loot/xp % gain.
1. Yeah that’s fair enough.
2. Why reduce loot/xp gain when you’ve used strategy and a bit of common sense to gain an advantage. (They used their “brain”, lets cut down their reward for doing that).
Don’t carry on doing something you don’t enjoy, it just leads you to hating it even more.
Didn’t say I hated it, just said it’s one of the most unsociable games I have ever played.
Might as well be single player.
But I don’t hate it.
this will be too confusing for those who want to resurrect: why can’t i resurrect this one and I could the other one. A pop up window for the one that resurrects will become annoying and pretty soon no one will attempt to resurrect anyone anymore
Ah good point !
Well your all talking crits in the thousands, I’m lucky if my Ranger crits up to 500, where are those target golems ?
That makes very interesting reading, almost a mirror image of what could happen with GW2.
Good to see that the developer’s had the bottle to admit it was a mistake and do away with it.
Actually, an “Accept Ressurection” confirmation might be a useful tool to use against bots, I have seen bots dieing and ressurecting each other.
I’ve been in several guilds, never heard a squeak from any of them.
Yup it can be a very lonely game.
I’ve never known one like this.
Check your shortcut, or create a new shortcut on the desktop. (Probably best to delete your old shortcut and make a new one anyway).
Windows 7 (If you are) can be a bit funny.
Yup, another +1 to this.
I don’t want to do PvP or WvWvW either.
Make it so everybody can get 100% world completion.
Because it feels weak and squishy.
Because they don’t do much damage.
Because I can’t put my pet away, out it comes everytime I stub my toe.
Because my town clothes change to my armour and my pet pops back when I trip over a twig.
Because I have to swop weapons or pets to gain a 2 second (Or whatever it is) speed boost.
Because I can’t use the terrain like a Ranger would (Invulnerable).
Because a blade of grass can cause an obstruction.
Yup unbelievable, Rangers are not allowed to gain an advantage by using the terrain, if you can call standing on a rock an “advantage”.
If I remember rightly, being higher in GW1 gained a Ranger extra damage, I always used that to my advantage.
It’s just stupid.
If you formatted your PC the client is gone.
When you start the game it’s downloading the client and all the patches.
It may take some time, depending on your connection speed.
Ok there are 3 bots in my friends list that have been on Frostgorge Sound for over 10 days now, I have been there a few times and observed them, there’s no doubt they are bots.
I’ve reported them about 3 times now, the first time they disappeared for 3 days, then reappeared, and have been there since then.
IF I keep reporting them, are they ever likely to get banned, or is it more likely I will get banned for multiple reports on the same bots ?
I find this very frustrating and unfair to legit players, bots have ruined other games, and could do the same here.
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
I have always played a Ranger, throughout the 6 or so years I played GW1, and I will continue to play a Ranger on GW2.
It does feel like a broken class, and I feel it’s weak and feeble and does very little damage.
Rangers should be able to use the terrain to gain an advantage, it’s what Rangers do huh ? No not allowed “Invulnerable” because we are stood on a stone.
And then if it’s not invulnerable it’s “obstructed”, so what little damage a Ranger does do is only about 50% anyway.
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
“Time to do some real damage”
Err, no, there’s little chance of any “Real damage” happening !
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
I’m assuming it’s simply to allow mobs a chance to actually hit you before they leash.
Please just tell me it’s NOT just because of that.
The slowed movement speed just makes the game so slow, boring and dull.
[quote=687261;Toble.2968Wouldn’t you like them to fix it instead of banning people like I Am Harmless (Me)?
Jklzmv I am sure is still botting away in game while innocents like me are waiting to get unabnned. they obviously need to fix this.[/quote]
No of course I don’t want to see innocent people banned, and neither does ArenaNet I’m sure.
Well jklzmv << not real name, was still botting as of 3 minutes ago.
you get hit..you are injured and trying to run while something is beating on you. Also you dont go into combat until you get hit…if you dont want to get hamstrung, STOP getting hit.
Nope, my character has slowed down to a crawl way before I get hit…………
Yes this
vespers.1759
it’s painfully slow…
Is it only a 2 day ban for botting ?
That explains why all the bots I reported that are in my friends list are back online !
No.
For those who clearly don’t know, they put in place a new banning system. Unfortunately, this banning system swept up a whole bunch of people who do not bot and got many of us banned for no reason.
I spend all my time PVPing in WvW and because no actual human reviewed my case, I have been banned along with many others who have no idea why. Arenanet has been scrambling to unban people since Wednesday when this all started, but people are still being banned for no reason.
Yes I understand some people may have been banned when they shouldn’t have been.
But the new system is not working properly because the bots I reported are STILL there………..
I think it an exaggeration when he says that the differences between a tank and a glass cannon are nearly negligible. IMHO, there are huge differences between glass canons and tanks in GW2.
Now I wouldn’t agree, I’ve been up and down with my traits, weapon and armour stats, from glass cannon, to tank, to condition, to be honest I don’t think it makes a carrot of difference, or at least it’s hardly noticible.
I would like to see a LOT more difference…..
If your damage build lets see some proper damage happening.
If your a tank lets see you take a real pounding.
And if your condition lets see some proper condition numbers, not a puny 25. (Or whatever it is).
As my Ranger would say “Time to do some real damage” errr no it just doesn’t happen.
Yes I also find this very annoying, why does it need to happen, I don’t neccessarily want to fight mobs, It’s like being on a Sunday afternoon stroll, it’s SO slow.
Mobs even overtake me, why would they do this to us………………..
You sure, because at least 3 bots in my friends list with names like (jklznmv) disappeared the day after I reported them, and reappeared about 3 days later.
And have now been on Frostgorge Sound for about a week.
Well, I also got an unrightful ban, and now I am waiting for the customer support to reply my ticket, but the message I get upon trying to login states that the ban for botting is permanent.
Well good luck with that, maybe I’m lucky as I do play a Ranger with an un-named bear pet !
Just was wondering how the bots I reported got their accounts back.
You sure, because at least 3 bots in my friends list with names like (jklznmv) disappeared the day after I reported them, and reappeared about 3 days later.
And have now been on Frostgorge Sound for about a week.
Is it only a 2 day ban for botting ?
That explains why all the bots I reported that are in my friends list are back online !
I’ve had about 20 bots in my friends list for about 3 weeks I did report them at the time I added them to my list.
Then didn’t see them online untill tonight when suddenly 2 reappeared on the account with similar names to the ones I reported (jklsnht/jpklmner, not their real names but like that).
I just have a suspicion Anet MIGHT be giving out week bans, or whatever, not perma bans, for botting, so those in my list are starting to be able to log back in.
Yeah this is a good idea, go for it ArenaNet.
No, I just think there should be an “Illegal program” option if you suspect somebody is using the flying, or speed hacks, or any other hacks that are about, and there are plenty.
You can’t really report somebody for using game bugs accidentally, maybe if you expect they have been deliberatly exploiting the bug then you should.
Maybe there should be an option “Using an illegal program”.
As some of the “hacks” I’ve seen are not botting but flying, jumping and speed hacks.
“Going to Lion’s Arch or any of the other cities is free.”
Is a workaround, ArenaNet probably did’t think of people using that one.
Removing waypoint cost would allow me to move around more freely without any concern for money at all, which as expressed several times, is more of a hindrance to my gameplay, that being said not saying removing all goldsinks, just the one really, basically pointing out that that particular one is just a bit overboard in regards to all the goldsinks, but like i said, just removing that one wouldn’t harm the economy of the game, and it would make the game more fun because we’d be more free
This yes, it would allow people to travel about and socialise more, it’s just stupid charging for waypoints, it’s broken the game down to a single player game.
We have plenty of reasons to walk if we need to, farming materials etc, why would we want to spend ages walking to meet friends etc, I just don’t know what Anet was thinking this would achieve, please tell me.
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
I keep getting or seeing nodes that appear for a second or so then disappear.
Sometimes they are already on map view and disappear as I move towards them, or they just appear and disappear as I rotate my camera, they may also flash on and off a few times.
Yeah same problem here, targeting seems all over the place, several “hostiles” around me, so it targets a “non-hostile” some way off.
Yup pretty much feels like that for me as well, and I’m on a high populated server.
May as well be single player.
They have made it more difficult to go and help people with the waypoint costs, if it wasn’t for that I would travel about more.
Apart from occasionally running into a zerg, a lot of DE’s I go to nobody turns up.
I think it’s a terrible idea, it just gives you an excuse to exclude individual players from your party, just because they may not be quite a “good” as you.
Everybody should get a chance to do dungeons no matter how bad they might be.
It’s not a money sink if people avoid it, which is what’s happening. Players avoiding travel to save money hurts the experience for everyone.
Most of you are missing a major point here.
This is supposed to be a great social game, instead ArenaNet have made a single player game.
People just go about their business of chopping tree’s gathering nods, “farming” if you want to call it that.
Personally I would like to go and help people, join parties, go to town, go around the dungeons see what going on, I have never felt so lonely ever in an online multiplayer game (MMO).
Please don’t give me the gold sink bit, you can easily earn it back, your doing something wrong lines
There’s no logic in having something in the game that prevents people travelling and making it a single player game.
I’m just lost for words……………………..
I’ve thought about that, but it’s really quite different. You could only travel to towns and outposts in GW1, and all of the combat areas were instanced. Now this game just has waypoints all over the place to the point where you can get very close to just about anything via map travel.
I guess what I’m getting at is that if they were free in this game, then you’d almost never walk anywhere that you’ve been before. People would just teleport around all over the place without care, which is something they probably want to avoid. In the first game, it didn’t really make much difference, gameplay-wise, if someone wanted to keep teleporting to different towns. That’s not really where anything was going on.
That said, I think they should factor distance out of the equation and make teleporting anywhere the same cost, as I said above, and maybe make teleporting to any of the 6 major cities free.
Well I think having to pay for waypoints has made a big impact on the social aspects of this game, so much so it may as well be single player.
Wasabi, yes, it is average, average is not “Average player who does dungeons all the time” That would be a subset of players, I’m talking about Average Players from accross the spectrum.
Yup have to agree here, and with all your points in your opening post.
Dungeons are too difficult for “average/casual” players, I find them difficult and frustrating, there’s no logic to them.
Mobs are just stupid or trash mobs.
There’s no warning of your about to die, it’s just your dead, thats it.
You can’t really fail, it’s just die waypoint/repair until you get bored.
There will always be people that will say “They are too easy”, “We do them daily”, “change your build”, or whtever, but there’s no getting away from the fact that they are very hard and frustrating for “average/casual” players".
LA is Lions Arch, a town that’s on all servers.
If nobodies chatting your server could be empty, or just people ain’t chatting because they are busy.
It’s not a very social game, people don’t chat much.
If anything the traveling costs encourage me to actually do something at every waypoint I go to. Why dont you just hit up a few resource nodes wherever you go? On that note I imagine thats part of the reason why travel costs exist, removing them would probably necessitate also removing the nodes around a certain radius of the way points.
I don’t want to mess about around a waypoint trying to recover my costs, when I have gone to help friends or join in with an event or gone to team up with my guild mates, I want to get on with it, help people, join parties, not to have to worry about recovering costs.
“Oh hang on a bit, I just want to farm a few low value nodes”.
Actually I went to res a player, a bit away from me, and he/she was ressed before I got there.
A few seconds later the player died again and was ressed again, and so it went on, I went to investgate.
There were 3 bots, one kept dieing whilst attacking a (don’t remember what it was) and the other 2 kept ressing the one dieing. They were all in their undies.
Quite funny really, it just went on and on, I reported all 3.
Yeah I also agree, cost of waypoints is making this a very unsociable single player game.
Now I would have thought ArenaNet would have wanted to encourage people to play together, to go to events with friends or go back and help lower level people.
But no, it costs us silver to get there and silver to get back.
I would like traveling cost to be set (Free) so we can travel about freely to help others, join in with DE’s and events,, be “sociable”, without the feeling we’re eating into our hard earned coin.
It’s definately a game killer for me.
Well having put the time in to get to level 80 and the gear to go with it, I want the lower areas to be easy, I don’t want them to be the same as when I was level 5 or whatever.
If you make the difficulty level wherever you are and whatever level you are, it just makes the game the same all the time, pretty boring.
“It’s been stated multiple time in this thread but this isn’t really a “recoup the costs easily” issue it’s a “social interactions with other players” issue.”
Thank you Mancub.
“I’d prefer it if the travel costs scaled with the area you’re traveling to. So if I’m hopping around a low level area, the costs are relatively low. If I’m going to a high level area, it’s expensive. If I’m returning to a city, it’s free.”
Thanks Jam, that would definately help the social side of things, which I feel the game is severly at the moment.
I am quite shocked actually how so many of you have missed the reason behind this thread, and continue to tell me how to make in game money.
Completely ignoring the fact it’s not about how much you can make, have or how to make it.
I know about the “Free” travel to Lions Arch.
You seem to ignore the possible impact (That I feel) that waypoint have on the social aspects of the game.
I don’t overly use waypoints, I’m not broke, I don’t continually die and have to repair armour, I don’t want waypoint costs free so that I can hoard more in game money.
Bit it does feel like a very single player game at times, when we should all maybe have the ability to travel cheaply, when we have completed an area, to have fun, help people out, party up, groovy on down, whatever you want to call it, with OTHER PEOPLE.
I don’t think you can call lowering or cutting out waypoint costs a “nerf”.
Anyway, I am more interested in the “social” impact on the game, and most of you seem to think I need to ltp, having some 450 hours on the game I don’t think I need to ltp.
For me personaly it does affect my social experience, with GW1 I had an urgency to log in, join up with my mates online, GW2 hasn’t got that urgency for me.
Of course I would like to waypoint about, find where the action is (Might take a fair bit of travelling about to do that), join DE’s quickly, get in on the action quickly, hook up with people, join parties, help other people.
I don’t want to walk about and look at the scenery, I’ve seen it all by walking every zone.
GW2 should be much more of a social game, not a single player game such as Skyrim which sometimes GW2 feels like.
So my whole point was not about making gold, looting, farming, trading, or “learning to play”.
Think “SOCIAL” impact.
“Enikuo.9205
It seems like people are talking about two different things in this thread – the cost of waypoints while soloing and the cost for playing socially (helping low-level guildies and people in map chat).”
Yup got it in one, I want to play with people (Be social) and not be penalised for doing so.
You all seem to be missing my point about social interaction and are more interested in “I have/make enough not to have to worry about waypoint costs”.
I think waypoint cost are quite considerable if I want to go off and help anybody with something and then have to waypoint back again.
(And I have said “Game breaking” was a bit of an overstatement).
It can stop me being “sociable”, and I have asked for help on several occasions (Nicely) and not had any response at all.
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
Ok I should have titled this thread…..
“Cost of waypoints pretty much a SOCIAL game breaker for me”.
Because I would have liked this game to be much more of a social interaction for me, doing things with other people, by charging, what are quite high costs for waypoints for casual players (We all don’t do dungeon runs every day blah blah blah) they have pretty much put people off being sociable, and being able to travel easily to group with other people or events.
Lets try to consider the social impact, not the “I have shedloads of gold” syndrome.
I played with a longbow for a while, have used a shortbow for ages now, when I try a long bow it’s so pathetically slow.
