Welcome to the world of the Ranger. (Very different than every other proffesion).

The “pet” is a real pain.

Just been trying to do some of the harder jumping puzzles, and any slight fall and the pet pops out, making it impossible to see anything.

And some of the puzzles involve being attacked as well, putting you in combat (slow) mode for ages, unable to stow my pet for ages.

The pet is the Rangers curse.

You want to play a Ranger, not a Beastmaster.

I think everybody is probably about the same.

I didn’t say that maybe some are not play to win.

But most of the things in GW2 can be directly linked with many Korean grinds.

Just slightly altered to appeal to the western world.

Not expecting anything, maybe a tool tip correction. (Or even a nerf).

We got conned before, not falling for that one again.

I know exactly how you feel.

I can no longer play MMOS that do not have:

1. A Buy-to-play model.
2. Up to date graphics. The fact that the world in the distance looks like concept art is mindblowing to me.
3. A massive world
4. Level sidekicking.
5. A ridicolously high quality, and quantity, of animations.
6. Upleveling in PvP as well as instant access to best in-slot gear.
7. Dynamic events.
8. A personal story.
9. Jumping puzzles.
10. A dye system for your gear.
11. Cross realm auction house.
12. Great underwater combat.
13. Armour sets of a size that you can actually imagine wearing.
I remember a certain game where the power of your character would depend on the size of your shoulderpads.
And where there would only be new models for head gear and shoulderpads, where the rest of the gear would be re-painted versions of gear that has been around for years, if not just having the “gear” being paint on the character’s body.

Name an MMO that DOESN’T have most of that.

In fact most Korean grinds had most of that years ago !

If you want a legendary, you’ve got to work on it. You’ve got to do a wide variety of things, including WvW. If you can’t force yourself to work for the legendary so as to get those badges of honor, clearly, you don’t want it enough.

You mentioned “work”, thats something I have to do for a living.

My mistake I guess, I thought this was a game that you played for fun and pleasure.

I whole heartedly support this. We should “wait and see”. But, personally, I’m not going to place any wagers in Vegas on Rangers getting the fixes we need.

We “waited to see” before, and what did we get, a smack in the face.

Think it happens if your in overflow and they’re not.

Or something like that.

Must be starting a trend here, I have a (Ranger) guild with only one member.

Warrior is the profession you are looking for. No crippling pet, good combat capabilities and a effective longbow.

No shortbow though………………

I would even PAY to get rid of the (mainly dead and a liability) pet.

And Rangers are not a pet class, that’s a beasmaster.

Sadly I always play a Ranger, and nothing else, stupidly I thought we would be able to dump it like GW1, w cahnge something that wasn’t broken and made everybody happy.

If there’s one thing that makes me leave this game, it will be the Ranger pet.

I wanted to believe last time.

Won’t fall for that one again.

I use an Xbox controller, with Xpadder.

The one I use is a wired one, I guess wireless would work as well.

Anyway Rangers make a good extra storage character.

I agree with the OP.

Some of us are “casual” (And Rangers bleh) gamers, not the hardcore gamers some of you claim to be, who feel we are excluded from dungeons.

There should be more than one mode, yes of course the rewards should be less, but we should’nt be excluded altogether.

How do people get this nasty, what’s wrong with you people………………

We payed for the game, we would expect reasonable playable online performance.

ArenaNet want the best online performance they can get, they (believe it or not) want you to log in and play.

Just chill out and help and support each other, not the “If you don’t like it sling your hook” attitude all the time.

Grow up.

Yeap it’s getting worse, sometimes players and mobs only appear when I get right next to them.

And I have tested it by backing away and watching when they disappear, and then running back and seeing when they appear.

I had this problem today also, lots of invisible pirates in Gendarren Fields. It was accompanied by some intense hard disk activity. Could the recent patches have fragmented the game files ? Just a guess.

Yeah I’ve had invisible stuff, like the culling issue has got even worse.

Sometimes mobs and players don’t render untill I’m right up close to them.

If you do manage to get their names and report them, put them in your friends list, I think you’ll find it will take weeks or months to ban them (Or maybe just a 3 day ban).

A case of, be careful what you wish for.

Now they are worse.

Very disappointed, looks like the Rangers in the bin.

It was the same with the Ranger on GW1 we got nothing.

The pet thing is obviously way too complicated to get working.

Yeap thats what transmuting is for, I have all exotic gear transmuted to level 1 looks, didn’t like any of the higher level looks.

Well from today I believe your going to be able to pick which tasks you do to complete your daily.

So the problem for people having trouble with dodges will probably be gone.

I play a Ranger, and can do my dodges in a few minutes without even thinking about it by just using a great sword,

Rangers were half decent.

Well from reading Colin’s post that could mean more loot for me, or a lot less loot for me.

Knew I shouldn’t have picked a Ranger as we do less damage than anybody else, means less loot for me.

So there’s no DR on “Bags of Wondrous Goods” ?

I just recieved 7 of these “Bag’s of Wondrous Goods” lol, I know, I know.

If I open all 7 one after the other will I get hit by the crummy DR, like the first one will be maybe a green, and all the rest be whites and bones.

Or should I open one every day to try to avoid the DR system ?

And I notice they DON’T stack and take up loads of space !

I think you’ll find you “have” to buy gems to tranfer.

It’s not your characters, it’s your account, your characters go with you.

Yes and yes, I hate the spinning camera, it’s REALLY annoying.

I don’t intend to play any other class, so please don’t tell me what to play or how to play it.

Unfortunately Anet already decided it for you.

In GW1 the ranger had to load a skill in order to have a pet. Players complained that (1) it was annoying to lose one of your skill slots just to have a pet, and (2) pets were too weak.

So Anet listened to them. In GW2 you don’t have to load a skill to have a pet, and the pet is stronger. But that means they had to balance assuming you always had your pet out – they had to weaken the ranger to keep it balanced. So regardless of how you or I want to play the ranger (I rarely loaded a pet in GW1), it’s been designed as a pet class.

You can fume and complain about it, even though it’s highly unlikely to be changed at this point. Or you can accept it and learn to use the pet as best you can. Or you can play a different class. Don’t get mad at people for telling you those are your realistic options.

Yes it does like we are stuck with ArenaNet’s idea of what a Ranger should be.

Sorry to break it to you, but ranger IS a beastmaster. That’s why our last trait line, the profession trait line, is beastmastery. Pet is the class mechanic, it will always be our class mechanic.

I know I’ve said this before and it’s been in other topics, but if you don’t like pets at all, you’re not playing the right class, I’m afraid.

Yeah I get a few keys early on in the game, now loads of chests and no keys, now I wonder why that is ?

A friend of mine moved from WOW to GW2, played a bit the quit because his character moved too slowly.

He must not have made it very far… every class has speed boosters of 25%+

No he didn’t get very far, and yes he left before the 25% speed boost, and its just one less GW2 player, no big deal I guess to ArenaNet.

However there’s a lot of frustration over quite a few things, some maybe ArenaNet will fix, some maybe they won’t.

But they are so slow, and I guess the longer they take the more players they will lose.

Then…………… lvl 5 ish and……………. Now……….. lvl 80….. Ha, looking at those now, I prefer the gloves in the first shot ! (Goes off to buy gloves).

Some very small things can be game breaking for some people.

Slowed in combat, nah don’t like it.

Downed state, don’t like it but sort of got used to it.

Waypoint coats, don’t like them.

Armour repair costs, you die you pay, fair enough.

Trading post taxes, why, do we need gold sinks, will the economy explode without gold sinks.

Wvw culling, really annoying (Edited in).

So some things mean a lot to some, very little to others.

Master gathering tools, how long do they last ?

I don’t particulary enjoy WvW with my Ranger, I do it, it’s ok sometimes, but I feel pretty useless really.

Yes, teleporting bots.

I’ve seen them at nods, and they will appear briefly at waypoints.

Report them if you can.

No your not the only one, I have always had that as well.

It could and should be much clearer.

I did hear that if you reduce you screen res it’s much clearer.

It’s not too hard, but I think if you do your daily every day for a month, then that should give you your monthly. Not add extra stuff in for the monthly.
