Yup the new area is Orr all over again, only much worse.
What ArenaNet had with GW was a UNIQUE game, thats part of what made it so popular.
Now they have dumped that uniqueness and followed a traditional, used before, pretty standard MMO model, there’s nothing in GW2 that’s not been done before, ArenaNet have just looked around at the MMO games and taken bits from them.
And sadly produced a pretty standard game.(Not groundbreaking like it should have been)
Because obviously the only way to make a boss fight in a MMO is to take a normal enemy, increase their HP through the stratosphere and give them the ability to one-shot everything.
MMOs in general should just die out already. GW2 is the final nail in their coffin.
Just increasing the mobs HP is a lazy way of programming, getting one shotted and not even seeing it coming, it’s rubbish, beating on a mob for ages, it’s boring.
Just any people would be good, feels like a single player game to me.
Yeah I tried loads of things, not having any luck either.
They did didn’t they…………..
“This will be a onetime only event chain that will run multiple hours, and it will kick off at noon PST (20:00 GMT). "
Yeah I got my £40 worth out of the game, not complaining here.
But I’ll be gone as soon as the games I’m waiting to be released come out after Christmas.
I had planned to stay for the long haul, but, but, it’s just, not good.

Posted in the patch notes October 7th
“Ranger •Crossfire: Increased casting time by 40 milliseconds. This was done to fix some glitches in the animation that caused problems with this skill.”
Written in a post by an ArenaNet employee November 6th
“I personally play a ton of ranger shortbow, which has an auto-attack that is glorious (even after the nerf).”
To be quite honest, I haven’t noticed any differences at all with my Ranger.
It’s still quite squishy and damage output is poor.
Only real difference is pets don’t seem to block mobs as well as they did.
All of Orr is tough, and most people hate it, I think it was thrown together in a rush to get the game out.
The mobs are annoying, they are all the same, they respawn too fast.
I did it on my ranger solo, but pretty much ran through it.
And yes people will tell you how “elite” they are, and how it was a breeze, and not to cry, sad really.
Link don’t work for me.
It wasn’t a joke, it was an insult, after the promises that were made.
I would like to stow my pet and not have it return (AND my armour) everytime I stub my toe.
It’s taking control away from me (Like the camera going vertical if I die) and I hate control being taken away from me.
We should have the option to fight without our pets, maybe there should be a buff to compensate for not using a pet.
The CHOICE should be there.
So what would a psuedo Ranger be like, maybe using a warrior or thief as a base ?
Could be WOW goes F2P, could be another of the two games I’m waiting for a bit after Christmas, which no doubt will both have an impact on GW2.
No, it’s not. If I wanted play with GS, I would make a Warrior. Ironic patch: buff Warrior’s Longbow, and Archer’s GS, hahaha.
“Check mate” on that one.
Really, who came up with that idea.
You couldn’t make it up.
Yeah I use the small UI and highest graphic setting, and it’s very difficult to read, sort of broken up.
Not fixing my Ranger, and making it a Ranger I will be proud to play.
The grind.
Lack of content.
Did I mention my Ranger, that’s the worst thing for me, being told it would be fixed, and it’s not, all we got was some silly stuff that I don’t use anyway.
Oh and the obstructed stuff and invulnerable rubbish.
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
You lose stats that way.
Not seeing a problem here. It’s more than made up for with the intimidation factor of running screaming shirtless into a pack of enemies. o_o)-b It worked for the Berserkers.
My friend does this irregularly in WvW (usually it’s with his pants, not with his shirt). Hilarity ensues.
Won’t make much difference I guess !
Hide gloves for females please.
Your going to have to try it, if it’s no good move back, nobody can give you an exact answer for what your asking.
I have this problem, but mainly because I don’t like the underwater stuff, so I stay away from it as much as possible.
I used to always play on US servers (UK here), minimal lag, it’s not really about your speed as most games are optimised for quite slow connections, it’s more about your ping and latency.
Yup, I’ve got about 150 chests, I don’t intend to by keys for them as all I ever got from any I opened was junk.
Sad to say this, but my Ranger, 7 years Ranger in GW1 (my only character), and now the Ranger is borked.
They never saw much love from ArenaNet in GW1, but now I am lost for words.
Promises, and nothing of any use.
I asked 4 people, explained the game to them, nah they didn’t want to play, not even try it, lol.
Yeap I ALWAYS play a Ranger, but I’m seriously considering dumping this one.
Might try a warrior or thief with a bow, but I’m not happy.
I really only want to use a bow, it’s what Rangers do, right, not a great sword, crummy horn thing, or axe, just a bow, long bows too slow, short bow got nerfed, patch did nothing for bows, where to go from here.
Might even dump the game.
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
This is a VERY poor patch, it’s done really nothing for Rangers.
They were weak and feeble, the are still weak and feeble.
Pets are useless still.
No I don’t think it’s an armour issue, I haven’t changed anytthing and I’m getting the same problem.
Yeah same with me, nearly all mobs walk straight past my pet to get to me, and they didn’t used to.
Even more rubbish for Rangers now as most of the time somethings trying to rip our face off.
Great stuff.
Yeah, I’m not particularly a role player but emotes are very limited, and sitting would be a nice option.
One I liked in GW1 was “bored” (Female Ranger).
You might get more replies in the “Ranger” forum.
Yeap liked them, some good facts there.
Hardcore Gamer:* Primary consideration is “winning”, “beating the game”, “completing the game”, “being the best or among the best in the game”.
Casual Gamer: Primary consideration in an MMOG is “having fun”, “entertainment”, “relaxation”, “enjoyment”.
These just about say it all, no need for more words, it’s all there.
I wouldn’t think so.
For me, being a ranger means wield dual scimitars, .
This, D&D.
Just change the scimitars for rapiers.
Good luck finding teammates who actually want to work together rather than run off and do their own thing once you enter a dungeon (or bail out altogether when they discover that their teammates aren’t wearing uber-leet armour like themselves). This is why I favour solo play – I actually want to explore and enjoy the dungeons, not speedrun the things like some of the people I used to end up grouping with.
Yes this just about sums it up………….
And this I want to do……..
“This is why I favour solo play – I actually want to explore and enjoy the dungeons, not speedrun the things like some of the people I used to end up grouping with”.
Dungeons to me are a disaster, a lot of content is being skipped, it’s hard finding/getting in a group, it’s quite a big part of the game I want to enjoy doing, not just HAVE to do it for the grind and find it a chore.
Oh wait, there’s more “grind” just around the corner !!
Sarcasmic.6741
“You said it yourself. Dungeons are /not/ designed for casuals.”
There’s not much of a game left for casuals then, pretty much a sandbox game, finish it in a bit over a week, then, nothing but boredom.
Ruien.9506
“TLDR: A bad player is a bad player. Sorry if that hurts your ego.”,
No ego here sunshine, but I do see lots of big strong hero’s here telling me how easy dungeons are.
Yeah first post I read “Get a bow, train in obtaining reflexes like Bruce Lee”, great advice.
darres.8203
“the way how current dungeons are designed promote this mentality of pure labor
it’s. just. not. fun
and discourages people to play”.
Coming from somebody that’s done it all !
Ok, have it reworded – instead of saying that dungeons are hard, ask people in this forum how can you improve your build. Post what stats on items you’re using, what traits, what utilities, what weapons – and ask the veteran dungeon runners what can you do to make it better.
The next time you are in dungeon, try not to rush it and try to follow the basic, intuitive things like ctrl+clicking one mob and focusing it down with other teammates, using all of your skills including your weapon swap (or other attunements on ele, or kits on engi), try not to overaggro things (aggro one mob/group from a safe distance and let them come to you).
If you have troubles fight a certain path, possibly a certain encounter, ask for help in the forums – post what was your team composition, just in general, and what was the problem – and where, of course. Wait for replies and try out what you get the next time you’re there. All of the above doesn’t take weeks. Writing a thread ‘help me get better’ is as easy as replying to this thread, and takes about the same time. Then, tomorrow or in a few days – whenever you have a moment – read the replies, find the ‘prevailing consensus’, ask more questions if needed and try it out.
I’m pretty active in the forums lately and i’ve seen two or three threads outright stating ‘please help me improve’, and it was mostly about Arah. That’s something really worth doing – since there are enough dungeon veterans here, supposedly enough of them will try to help you if you only provide the necessary data and are willing to listen – i can at least assure that yours truly will try to help you if you let him. Things were tougher 5-7 weeks ago with less videos on yt, less people willing to share their strategies and just less dungeon vets in general.
I think there’s enough info on dungeons here without being bombarded with more.
Because it’s the same old stuff all the time, “I’m good, your bad” stuff, no thanks.
Read some of it and you’ll see.

(With thanks to tehKaiyu.8032)
The ‘learn to play’ argument is very much in power, as much as i hate it to be.
Stop with the using it then. (And the “crying on the forums”).
And I don’t care what you say, dungeons are too hard, yes I am a casual player, no I don’t want to spend weeks “learning” how to do a dungeon, or weeks just getting the kit to be able to do a dungeon..
They are just stupidly hard.
Ah this is yours as well…………..
Hmmmm, a copy and paste job.

Only the blue highlighted text is active, you need 5 more of the same runes attached to different pieces of armor to unlock the remaining
Ah thanks for the link.
I need 5 more then, haha, like thats going to happen, only found that one after about 450 hours, lets see that 450 x blah blah blah, a lot of hours !
And I assume there’s no way to recover these runes once you have put them on your armour.

but properly geared and willing to learn rather than cry in the forums.
Sorry but that’s about the typical reaction here, ltp, gear up and don’t cry.
Sorry but these “so called” dungeons are not designed with casual players in mind, MANY people will be excuded from dungeons (even for completing their personal stories) or because they just can’t face them because of their terrible design.
They are not fun, they are not easy, and many casual players will tell you the same.
Seems we can’t all be “elite” and not die.
Please explain these stats to me.
“Superior Rune of Citadel (1/6)”.
The top line (1): +25 Power
The rest are in white eg (2): 15%Fury Duration
So can you explain the 1/6
Which stats are active now ? (Are they all active, if not why not).
Why some are shown in white ?
@Solid – i can assure you that you can do all routes of all dungeons without a single party wipe. If your party wipes, it’s only your fault, not a bad dungeon design. Just like in GW1 – doable, tactical, no need to die if you’re good enough; and if you can’t do FoW, it’s not FoW’s fault.
Hang on here, I had no problems doing FoW or UW.
And I don’t believe you could possibly blame a player for dieing, you may have well used the ltp line.
So there you all are, crammed in a little room, surrounded by mobs that are as hard as nails, the camera angle wedged God know’s where, you can’t see whats going on, and you know you can die at any minute from a one hitter.
Yeah it’s all about tactics right, no, it all about mobs doing massive damage in one hit and having massive amouts of health.
I’ve done a couple of dungeons, and to be honest they are just terrible.
There’s no real tactics, it’s just die, waypoint, back to it.
Now Fissure of Woe and Underworld, that was proper stuff, tactical, doable, always fun, even with a pug.
“you have to remember though, in GW1 there was no jumping, so there was NO WAY a mob could NOT get to you”
It’s still stupid, I’m clever enough to use the terrain, it’s what Rangers do right.
It’s not my fault the mobs are too thick to jump.
Not only that, it happens all the time, or it’s the old obstructed by a blade of grass.
And while this goes on, I’m the one getting my face ripped off, come on, this ain’t right however you might try to justify it !
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
Yup I’ve had my £40 worth out of the game.
Bored now and just waiting for something else to come along.
