You can’t, that’s it.
HoT comes with the core game included free.
I feel more accomplished after level up mastery than acquire higher tier equipment in other MMO..
Funny that because I don’t.
I just look at the number of mastery points I need for the next mastery. (Like I need 10, I have 1).
And then I think that’s a long hard grind to get those points.
Yes it’s the dreaded grind, nobody can deny it.
Yes I hate that as well !
So much l
junk from HoT.
It’s now called “Inventory Wars”.
It’s only during the last few weeks I have to destroy a lot of stuff, can’t sell it, can’t store it, just useless stuff.

Adventures? annoying mini games more like
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Solid Gold.9310
Am I the only one finding it frustrating that mastery points are tied to these difficult and annoying mini games? It’s nigh on impossible to get even bronze on many of them. Coupled with the fact that they’re often closed, I have given up hope of ever getting enough mastery points to max my level.
Same here !
He shouldn’t be able to log in without verification.
But I would contact support, try to include screenshots.
Read here as well. https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/66122673
Have you got 2 step verification ?
It sounds like you object to finding that your money spent on HoT went exclusively to content for only about10% of the player base.
You are not alone in that perspective.
Yes everybody should be able to explore all aspects of the game, doesn’t matter if your casual, rubbish etc.
There should be difficulty levels, with reduced awards of course, more rewards as you go up the levels.
This would reduce the elitism to some extent, “You can’t do this at our level” is not quite so bad as “You’re not ever going to get to do this”.
Remember ArenaNet we all payed full price for this content, not paid so we could be excluded from a big part of it.
I would like to add to that, I’m only really suggesting levels of difficulty should be added to raids and maybe dungeons/fractals.
By doing this it would allow everybody to experience all aspects of the game if they so wish.
I wouldn’t want to see open world content reduced in difficulty (As it scales anyway), but I would like to see maps that are full.

Bang. That’s all the playerbase is asking. Well said.
Put your tin hat on, we could have some incoming ! (Flames that is from the l33t).
Does it say your location next to the IP address ?
Is there anything that look strange there ?

that the time they put into the game is being rewarded and others are being punished for not putting in the same time. They can walk around with new shinys that casual folks cannot hope to get and brag how great they are…
You will get The shinys soon enough. As a casual’ u are not suppost to get it. Lets say u play 1 hour each day as casual’. I play 3-4 hours. I will take u atleast 4x The time to get it. And im planning on have mine until summer. So maybe next year you got yours.
Wait, I have nearly 3000 hours from the head start, never even got a sniff of these things you call “Shinies”.
What are these strange things you speak off ?
Well signs The only thing you get from 100% complete is stuff for legendary. I think if u call yourself casual u will not get legendary anyway. It’s total of 40HP and u need 25 for elite. And it’s not like u running around solo either. And the small events pre meta is easy solable.
Wait, you didn’t “solo” it all then ?
I did all that, solo. Not a problem. Only IF u want 100% u need to take all HP. But signs u are casual u dont need it.
Yup did it all solo, no problem.
No I didn’t though.
HoT is not too bad, keep moving and dodging, don’t stop to look at your map unless your in a safe place.
Some places are hard to get to, I don’t like that either but have to put up with it.
Hero points, I just hang about a bit for other people to show up, or come back later.
Some champs are impossible “solo”.
I don’t see how “signs u are casual u dont need it” even comes into it, what has that even got to do with it.

Already running the 64bit client, and have been since it was released with no crashes.
But had quite a few crashes tonight in quick succession, every few minutes.
Deleted the 64bit client, downloaded it again and hey presto no crashes in the last 2 hours.
It might work for you if your having problems.
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
Casual is a term to define the amount of time someone spends online. It has no meaning in regards to player skill. Casuals aren’t asking for a nerf. Bad players and those with entitlement issues are. Stop saying casuals are being left out. You can play ten hours a week and clear the content with some effort.
Of course there will be quite a large percentage of not Top Notch players, not everybody can be as brilliant as you obviously.
By casual I mean people who play for a couple of hours a day maybe, they don’t live for GW2 like some Top Notch players.
However I don’t think it matters on your player ability, everybody should get a chance to experience they thing’s the paid for, maybe at a lower difficulty setting with reduced rewards.
Elitism is a major problem in games, with lower level players enjoying the game, but feeling excluded.
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
Anything that excludes maybe up to 90% of casual players or creates elitism is bad for GW2.
And as Notsoperky.2348 stated, 3 or 4 difficulty settings (With reduced rewards) would allow casual players to also experience the raids.
Without that some people will always be excluded from content they paid ArenaNet for when they bought HoT.
And the DPS timer is just a cheap trick.

I’ve searched, I’ve googled, and I’ve done a scour of what we are allowed to access in this website’s own search and I can’t find the instructions nor the client link anywhere.
Feel free to move this post – can’t use what we can’t find.

Windows® Installation Instructions
Log in to your Guild Wars 2 Account Management Page.
Download the 64bit client and remember where you put it so you can move it into the directory where Gw2 is.
There should be 2 maybe 3 files in your Gw2 directory (There will be more if your just copying the 64bit client into your existing directory)…. (The directory can be anywhere on your H/D or a second H/D and can be called anything you like if your making a new directory).
Gw2.exe (Not essential).
Gw2-64.exe (Required).
Gw2.dat (Required).
Plus other files and a couple of directories. (If your using your original GW2 directory)
There will be a small update the first time you run the 64bit client. (There will be more files and a couple more directories in the GW2 directory after patching)
Make sure you ARE running the 64bit client, and make SURE the Gw2.dat file is in the same directory. (If the Gw2.dat file is not in the same directory it will download the whole game again).
Run the game directly from the Gw2-64.exe file. (Right click and open or double left click).
Then drag a short cut (Right click on the client and drag) onto your desktop or start menu when you know it runs OK.
You can rename the Gw2.exe to Gw2.bak (Or delete it) to make sure you can’t run it by mistake.
You can then rename your Gw2-64.exe client Gw2.exe if you wish to.
If you rename your 64bit client, make sure your shortcut reflects that and points to the correct place.
Yup sometimes they are dead.
Solo & heroes? I’d love it! Don’t say its impossible, because with stanced maps everything is possible!
Yes it would be possible in instances.
Not in open maps, it would be chaos.
I’ve download the client, moved it to the folder with the 32-bit, and now it wants to download the whole game again. What did I do wrong?
I’m a “computer illiterate” so pls make it simple xD
Make sure you have the Gw2.dat file in the same directory as the 64bit client. (If it’s not there it will download the whole game again).
Run the game straight from the directory by right clicking on the 64bit client (Open) or double left click.
There will be a small download.
When your happy it’s ok, create a desktop icon by right clicking on the 64bit client and dragging onto your desktop.

For all 32bit OS there’s probably a solution:
- run Command Prompt as administrator
- run this command: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072
- restart your computer and play GW2I was able to play HOT content without any crash after this. And I don’t have to use the lowest graphic settings.
I will try this tonight and let you know. Sad if a player can offer more support than ANet.
From the command prompt…………….
bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa

Solid, I cant post the specs because it freezes my computer when it crashes, I have to restart pc. Any way of retrieving that info after rebooting?
Not your crash log, the specs of your PC.
The rewards in HoT a generally trash, just a way to fill up your inventory.
It’s called Inventory Wars now.
Heroes ruined GW1, why bring them into GW2 and ruin this too?
Nope, heroes extended the life of GW1, it was a very wise move by ArenaNet.
Without heroes GW1 would have died a slow painful death, and because of heroes it’s still very playable even today.
I see a lot of people moaning, nobodies posting their PC specs ?
Fallout 4 is 64bit operating sytems only as has been said.
Post your specs if you want help.
Guild Wars 2 will not install, constant Client Crashing Help!
It crashes on install, very unusual.
Nice idea, but I fear it’s not practical.
Hi, so I started experiencing crashes in the new HoT maps and my friend told me to go download the 64bit client. And as I went to read about how to install and everything… It said I shouldn’t have to download the whole game again, just the client update. But after multiple tries I keep ending up having to download the whole game…
Anything I’m doing wrong?
I copied the file in my Gw2 folder, opened it there, created a shortcut and boom, the 341338 files remaining show up..

As has been said it’s day one.
People need time to get used to raids.
However I also see a lot of party elitism and people being excluded from even trying raids (Myself included) because of that elitism.
PuG’s are probably going to be non-existant.
Maybe ArenaNet should be more considerate about adding content that will exclude maybe 90% of it’s player base, after all it’s the players that make this game what it is, and pay their wages.
Paragraphs are your friends, and make reading so much better.
You call that a fireball !!!
I programmed somehow (finally got it to work after months of trying) managed to make super special keys on my mouse to do a skill in game (like the toggle scroll on /off). Those buttons are not recognized by gw2 itself.
Now the problem: 64 bit they don’t work. Re-opening 32 bit works fine… It was way to hard to setup to now just copy to 64 bit, the software also doesn’t give an option to copy past or change the allocation. I tried a lot of combinations, but didnt managed to get it right
Any advice? This is very annoying as my elite skills and nr 7 skill are not only usefull by clicking.
Update: You cannot change the map folder but you can add/remove games, by choosing their .exe file. Wich is how I added 64 bit exe-file. Now both clients work. This spared a lot of work, cause setting up the keybypass structure to make mouse buttons ingame work that are not recognized by gw2 is very complex. I didn’t wanna do it again.
Try Xpadder
kitten I need a slap………………………
Already had my character slot, however had a very nice reply from a GM…
“Hello Roger,
No apology necessary. I too get confused on how many character slots I have and when I have obtained them. There really isn’t much of a notice, it just kind of appears… Anyways glad to hear you have it and good luck in game!
Regards,"
So many people here have solo’d HoT it is obviously too easy.
Maybe solo’d means not in a party.
And no I don’t have too many problems because there is usually other people about.
To be honest, HoT is quite easy. I think anet has tried to find a compromise so that the most players think it is OK and only a few think it is too easy or too hard.
Most of the hero challenges are easy soloable. I would say 70% you can do solo, 20% need 2 players and 10% need 3 players, to do it without much effort. I think of these 30% for 2-3 players most are soloable with more effort (study the tactics, use right utilities and buffs etc.).
I didn’t say it was too hard, and you are suggesting I’m having problems, which I’m not.
I’m just saying it’s not 100% solable but there’s always somebody (Generally) around to help out when needed.
Please don’t tell me about tactics, utilities and buffs.
I have to agree with the OP. The expansion for me has become a monumental grind. The fact that you have to grind so much in order to obtain any sort of reward has really ruined the experience for me. I am not saying that there should be no work involved but the fact that you have grind experience for the masteries, then grind mastery points, then grind a crapload of the various new currencies for whatever item you are keen on getting. Mix into this incredible recipe the various meta events, which take a huge amount of time and the fact that you get barely any experience makes for a very sad gaming experience. Oh, and I almost forgot, the insane amount of disconnects!
Yes it’s a grind.
(Puts on tin hat and ducks).
I bought the standard version, with the extra slot being added as a veteran player, or that’s the way I understood it.
It isn’t restricted to pre-release, I upgraded a second account only last evening to HOT and got an extra slot.
Ok thanks, just submitted a ticket.
So many people here have solo’d HoT it is obviously too easy.
Maybe solo’d means not in a party.
And no I don’t have too many problems because there is usually other people about.
I didn’t get my extra character slot yet.
Played since Gw2 beta.
Pre-ordered Hot.
Where’s my extra character slot ?
Play a Ranger, don’t get close.
You directory will look like this after patching………..
There will also be a bin64 directory which contains around 50mb that’s downloaded the first time you run GW2-64.EXE.
Already said there will be more files after patching.

I do not see the issue if people like to jump and to puzzles to get mastery points they have that option. If people want to do fractals to have enough points they should do that. If they want to do events to get masteries they should do that. They should not have to do all of them.
I guess this is the point where we have to agree to disagree. I don’t think anyone should be able to max all their masteries by just playing a very narrow part of the possible gameplay available, because max masteries to me should mean at least dabbling in all parts of the game and mastering several of them.
What even the parts we hate.
We shouldn’t be forced into doing stuff we don’t like, just to get mastery points.
There should be other options.
There definitely needs to be way more ways to get mastery points, forcing me to replay the story on different classes ect is bullkitten and some of these adventures are just undo able.
im mastery lvl 140 with xp bars full just waiting on the mastery points it looks like il never get.More and more players are going to run out of points to spend long before they run out of xp to grind.
Yup just about to use my last 8 points, that leaves me with none.
The next mastery is 10 or more points.
Duh screwed.
I only ever had one character, even more screwed.
And I’m only mastery 32.
so stop playing gw2 and go back to wow [/quote]
Nah ArenaNet don’t want people to do that, so they want to be everything to everybody.
