Is there a way to verify you are using the 64 bit version?
Rename the Gw2.exe to Gw2.bak
Then you can only run the 64bit client.
And you will see the Gw2-64.exe client running in task manager which will be using some percentage of your CPU.

Too many threads telling us what we should or shouldn’t do.
Relax, chill, stop posting about guild halls stop this and that.
How would they know how strongly we feel if people don’t post.
Oh wait this is another one of “those” threads.
Xbox controller here, and Xpadder.
And a bit of keyboard and mouse.
So do all the people who bought it then get a refund lol?
Nobody get a refund for the base game buying the expansion xD.
Yup we bought the base game, no refund, now it’s free. (With HoT0.
Yeah they should give living story 2 away free.
Yeash what started out as an exciting experience has now just turned into a boring grind to get masteries, the higher you get the more of a grind (Bore) it becomes.
And this……………
Inventory management is my new end-game: we now have bags that contain more bags, which all contain 15 DIFFERENT kinds of worthless crap. Great system. Much fun.
We are just being bombarded with more and more rubbish stuff, Iv’e never seen so much rubbish, oh wait extra bag spaces on sale in the gem store, maybe there’s a plan here.
@ FOX.3582 “This Guild Hall talk has to stop!”.
Why does it bother you ?
Is it affecting you in any way ?
You have your Guild Hall full marks.
But many small Guilds such as mine will never get a Guild Hall now.
Just to quote you from one of your earlier posts…….
“Who are you¿
And what is this¿”
I’m runing win7 64 bits with 16gb ram and an amd graphic card.
I’ve downloaded gw2-64 and put it in the game folder, but when I start the game, it crashesI’ve read on reddit that it could be that I have steam opened, but I haven’t
Is Windows 7 up to date with SP1 ?
Why do I have to re-download the 64 bit client every time I open it? I closed the game, and upon reopening it, it wants me to re-do the entire download.
Im not waiting another 4 hours for it to download. No.
Because your not putting the Gw2-64.exe client in the same directory as the original Gw2.exe and Gw2.dat file.
Either move the 64bit client to where the Gw2.dat file is or move the Gw2.dat file to where the 64bit client is.
It should look something like this…
Directory i.e
C:\Guild_Wars
(Files in directory)
Gw2-64.exe
Gw2.dat (Big file)
Gw2.exe (Not really needed)
(There will be a small download the first time you run the 64 bit client).
""""This should allows you to complete most events, get map completion, and complete the story. That’s about 8.3M XP or 33 levels. If you did all the meta event chains for All of the maps, finished the story, and completed map completion on one character; you’d have all that you needed unlocked. Hardly a grind if you only do everything once. Any artificial restrictions, such as choosing not to do this or that, can’t be held against HoT.""""
Ah I see now, not much to do then, yada yada yada………………………
Just do that lot and your done, NOT a grind. (Really).

It’s the same Gw2.dat file for the 32 and 64 bit client, you can forget about the other files.
So in a directory (Directory name unimportant, I put mine on drive C) you should have Gw2.exe (If you want to keep the 32bit client) the .dat file, and the Gw2-64.exe.
Make sure you run the Gw2-64.exe client, or your shortcut points to that file.
You will have a small download when you run the 64bit client for the first time.
I renamed my Gw2.exe file Gw2.bak so I couldn’t run it by mistake.

In my experience things only become a chore when trying to stick to a deadline you set yourself. My tip: don’t set deadlines. Just play the game and you’ll progress automatically. Choose the activities that are fun for you over those that give more xp.
It’s confusing that people call it a chore, if the content you’re doing to level masteries isn’t enjoyable, that isn’t gonna change after you max your masteries, so just don’t do it. Go back to what you were doing to enjoy the game before the expansion.
And what’s your suggestion for those of us who WANT to play the content we enjoy, the STORY but are locked out due to mastery-gates?
THAT’s when getting masteries is a HUGE CHORE.
How are you locked behind level 2 masteries? They already removed the itzel 4 req.
Anyone’s suggestion would be to play the game, it’d take less than 2 hours (from the moment you first step into the jungle) to get that mastery. After completing Torn From The Sky you need to unlock the first mastery in order to continue to the next quest in it, the Story quest completion for TFTS tells you that.
So, I’m locked out of the Story till I grind enough XP to unlock Gliding!
Omg… that would literally take you like 15 minutes… if that is too much effort for you then you should probably look at uninstalling and going back to console games…
I think he’s just being sarcastic to ilustrate how ridiculous the whining is.
We are not “whining”, just stating the facts and our opinions.
If we wanted “grinding” we would go and play a Korean mmo.
(Off to grind for a bit !).
You consider gliding 1 a grind? You’re trolling right?
No I don’t, and not any of the first 2 or 3 masteries, how dare you call me a troll.
But once you get further down on 4+ then it takes much longer to level the bar up, then it becomes a grind.
Plus the fact of not knowing which to do first.
Troll indeed, what a cheek !
I am offended.

Sorry but I disagree, you have to get some masteries for story progression yes, they are easy, but the further down you get the more you have to grind.
The one below the one you just did is going to take twice the grind, and so on as you go down, until your brain dead.
It’s a grind, period.
I can confirm leveling masteries is a chore, or if you prefer a grind.
As they get higher you need more points, and they take forever to fill the bar.
Definitely a grind.
and hopefully by this way remove some of the billions annoying 5-10 “people” guilds.
Nice way to alienate people.
Personally I think there is still a place for small guilds, and we should have the opportunity to get, maybe a small guildhall.
I used the 64 bit client yesterday just fine, and now when I’m starting it up there is a huge download, it says there are 338,932 files to download; however, the 32 bit client loads just fine with no download. I’m not sure what is going on, I even deleted and re-downloaded the client, but it keeps trying to download this huge file. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Your not putting the 64bit client in the right place, if it’s not in your GW2 directory it will download the whole game again.
It needs putting into your GW2 directory with your Gw2.exe file and the Gw2.dat file.
Or create a new directory and move the Gw2.dat file and the Gw2-64.exe client into it.
You should have a small download when you run the 64bit client for the first time.
If this went sub, 50% or more of the people would be gone.
ArenaNet will never do that, you want to sub them, buy stuff.
This is a troll thread, he’s sat back with popcorn.
Occasionally I do.

Hi, thank you for replying,
it only detects my 32bit
How do you know that ?
I renamed my Gw2.exe to Gw2.bak to ensure I was using the 64bit client (Didn’t delete the original client in case I need to revert back to it) and to make sure I was definitely running the 64bit client.
The Nvidia Experience optimises the game OK.

You have to browse and point it toward the Gw2-64.exe client.
Just to add to that “preferences” The + on the right, browse and select the folder where your GW2 is, it will then show up in your games, and you can optimise it.
(edited by Solid Gold.9310)
Why is it so complicated.
(A lot of people can’t put the 64bit client in the right place).
Well it say’s (In the premium edition) that GW2 is supported.
It’s not cheap…………………. Is it worth $10 a month per PC ?
Personally I can’t see there would be any problems with it.
(I could be wrong).
I do not like the expansion maps and events

Your missing the point completely…..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQvSbjjFvCYI don’t even know what’s going on there… Are you suggesting the point of HoT is to play as badly as possible?
Brilliant loving these video’s, talk about being in the wrong place at the right time, great stuff.
Since these things pop up from time to time, and players keep failing to see the obvious warning text at the bottom, I think Anet needs to make it more visible somehow.
Maybe a big blinking text at the beginning of the letter that you absolutely can’t miss, possibly even a confirmation button before you get to actually read the message.
Yes agreed, people are still falling for this.
I AGREE
ALL MERGE ON A BOSS = CRASHCAN’T DO BOSSES NOW UNLESS I MAKE SURE I DON’T STAND TOO CLOSE TO A CROWD.
OK, new map (late map) less people, lets be calm and see if I get the boss this time.
Oh, it’s Karka Queen btw.
Yes got it, took longer with less people (more enjoyable) but that’s not a problem.
I also crash when every one goes to collect reward at Tequatl, when every one stands at the reward statue (big crown at this point, have to be quick to get my reward before it crash).32 bit client btw, I lose between 10 and 20 fps with 64 bit client depending on amount of people.
As I normally only have under 30 fps, dropping to 10 fps, totally gets my ***********.
I know 64 bit is Beta
Is there a way to find out when it gets updated what version it’s at?
I (Like many people) love the 64bit client, I don’t crash anymore, increased FPS, increased graphic settings.
Yes and run the GW2 64bit client.
Microsoft gives you the 32-bit version of Windows 10 if you upgrade from the 32-bit version of Windows 7 or 8.1. But you can switch to the 64-bit version, assuming your hardware supports it.
If you had a 32-bit versions of Windows 7 or 8.1 installed on your PC and upgraded to Windows 10, Microsoft gave you the 32-bit version of Windows 10.
http://www.howtogeek.com/228042/how-to-switch-from-32-bit-windows-10-to-64-bit-windows-10/
Is Your PC 64-bit Capable?
First thing’s first, you’ll need to confirm whether the CPU in your computer is 64-bit capable. To do so, open the Settings app from your Start menu, select System, and select About. Look to the right of “System type.”
If you see “32-bit operating system, x64-based processor,” this means you’re using a 32-bit version of Windows 10 but your CPU can run a 64-bit version. If it doesn’t say you have an x64-based processor, you have a 32-bit CPU and can’t upgrade to the 64-bit version.
Why only 32bit ?
what you mean?
Why have you specified your system as 32bit ?
Looking at it I would guess 32/64bit
Why only 32bit ?
Also, with less peeps doing the VB outpost events, the window between outpost events completing and defend events starting becomes narrower each day, and further adds to the frustration of limited cracks at SG (I was even in a map last night where the outpost events didn’t complete, and so no SG for that round qq).
EDIT: Argh! Was just in a map where the Faren event bugged-out again and thus no SG!
Gotta ask, why is he in his y fronts !
Did I miss something on the story line here, because I seemed to finish it very fast, just followed the steps along and was very surprised when it was done.
Just had one part I couldn’t start before I got “X” mastery, second one down beginning with an N. (3rd from the top I think). Got that pretty fast.
I was quite shocked how fast the story was over.
I’ve never heard of somebody complaining about memory usage, didn’t we buy it to make use of it.
Paragraphs are brilliant………..
I have downloaded 64bit client and re-launched the launcher with it and it no longer requires any longer. What happened to 5gb data it downloaded before I have no idea…
What triggers this fresh install need?
If you put the GW2-64.exe in a different directory it will download the whole game again when you run it.
Shush the’ll want to nerf it.
Isn’t it supposed to be elite, so shouldn’t it be a bit elite.
Can’t continue story…………
In Tangled Roots, the map marker is there, but there’s nothing when I get to it, it’s not over or under either.
Any idea’s guys ?

Hero challenges should never be forced group content, you need them for elite specs and map completion. Requiring you to depend on the whims of other players to do something that the rest of the game let you do by yourself is bad game design.
I agree 100%
Yeah totally agree.
You don’t. You buy it.
I LiKe it.
Yeah just a Ranger here as well, you get used to the nerfs, kinda immune to them.
No I have no interest in being a druid/monk or healer of any kind.
It’s not like we had any choice in the matter, we were just steamrollered.
Ask a guild mate/friend mesmer to make portals for you and stop bothering people…
Many players like them. Platform in MMO is refreshing.
Bothering people, please tell me how I’m bothering people.
Just stating how I feel about jumping puzzles, this is a forum for comments is it not ?
I’m not a big fan of jumping puzzles (Actually I hate them), and there is quite a bit of required jumping in HoT.
However I just have to endure them as they are a necessity to progress through the game.
Whatever game you decide to play there’s going to be some bits you don’t like, and others that you do like.
Edit….
Just to add to that, I’m not keen on flying or jump pads in games either.
However I think the gliding and jumping mushrooms have been very well executed in HoT.
OK I retract the above about jumping puzzles, I now hate them even more with a vengeance.
There are far too many in HoT everywhere I go there are jumping puzzles for everything, vista’s, mastery points, hero points, what is this some sort of platform game. (Some I have had to give up on out of pure frustration).
Now instead of feeling like an intrepid hero/adventurer/savior of the planet, I feel like farmer/gatherer/ Super Mario Brothers©.
(9/10 would buy a game again with a LOT of the stuff I don’t like in it).
And no I don’t want a refund before you lot even mention it because I’m gonna stick with it.
What are you using to monitor that ?
Yes, but only because there’s so much jumping, I hate jumping puzzles.
Gliding and jump pads are OK.
If you’ve uninstalled the game, the default location should be drive C
I am assuming that’s your SSD.
I would like to remind you that 64bit versions Windows have two “Program Files” folders for a VERY specific reason.
C:\Program Files\ <—————— Programs run from here are run in 64bit
C:\Program Files (x86)\ <—— Programs run from here cause Windows to drop into 32bitYou just told everyone to run a 64bit client from the very same directory that causes Windows to work in 32bit.
Might I suggest that you set the 64bit beta client to do a fresh install to the “C:\Program Files\” folder then just have us advanced users (Desktop Support Tech right here) copy the gw2.dat to the 64bit installation.
You can avoid some bugs right there without having to hunt down the cause.
This is not accurate. While most 32-bit and 64-bit programs install into the folders you listed, the folders are simply naming conventions to keep organization. 32-bit programs run perfectly fine from the \Program Files folder and 64-bit programs run perfectly fine from the \Program Files (x86) folder. Windows doesn’t try running programs differently from either folder – it’s the .exe and how it’s compiled that determines if it’s ran as 32 or 64 bit.
So running the 64-bit client in the “(x86)” folder works fine.
And this ^^^^^^ just put it wherever you want.
what about those of us who don’t run off c:\, that makes no sense? I run off my second drive to save my main drive from the constant rewrites
Just do the same on drive d: or whatever.
I wasn’t asking what I should do, I was pointing out that those 2 directories are irrelevant to a lot of people because the 32/64 directories don’t exist where their game is installed
I don’t see the problem, just create your own directory, l was also running from drive D not to save writes, (that’s a waste of time), just to save space.
But I just moved it to drive C: as it’s an ssd.

I already have the 32-bit client; will I have to completely download the game again?
No. The 64-bit client uses the same data as the 32-bit client. If you already have the game installed, you can follow these instructions to avoid needing to reinstall the game:
- Download the 64-bit client.
- Copy the downloaded program into your Guild Wars 2 game folder.
- Update any shortcuts to the game to point to the new file instead.
This process will be automatic once we get out of beta.I would like to remind you that 64bit versions Windows have two “Program Files” folders for a VERY specific reason.

I wouldn’t suggest a fresh install, the .dat file is big 24.4GB
I just copied my Gw2.dat file to a new directory (C:\Program Files\Guild_Wars_2), and stuck the Gw2-64.exe in with it, you will have a small download before the game starts.
Works fine with me, better fps a solid 50+, and no crashes so far, also upped my graphics setting.
Don’t forget to make a new shortcut to link your new Gw2-64.exe file, or run directly from your new dir.
When your confident the 64 bit client is stable you can put your 32 bit client in that directory (just in case you want to run 32 bit again) and delete the original .dat file if you need the space.
