Champion: Phantom, Hunter, Legionnaire, Genius
WvW rank: Diamond Colonel | Maguuma
I want all the people who are new to Ranger and just playing it because it got buffed to go die in a hole (: It was a great profession in the first place and had plenty of hate despite that. Now it’s only getting more.
/wrists
At least I have lots of Ranger brethren to kill and get free bags from I guess.
Lol @ the people arguing over this. The point is that it’s not working as intended and it needs to be fixed not that he should use a different build.
He can use something else until it’s fixed, but he shouldn’t have to.
Am I the only person who likes my pets? I don’t think I’d enjoy Ranger as much without them to be honest.

There was a pretty good description of the sate of this game currently on Reddit :
Get Gold, Get Gems, Get Pretty, Repeat.
Basically. Guild Wars 2, where super models fight dragons and zombies and spend their downtime getting manicures and makeovers. Welcome to Tyria where everyone’s had at least one nose job.
Or, line of sight them.
I have two characters, both of which have 0 mobility. A Necromancer and my trapper Ranger which has 3 traps and 0 stunbreaks/mobility as well. When I come across a LB Ranger I just find the nearest wall/pillar/tree what ever and make them come near me so I can nuke them with all of my traps (or marks in the case of Necro).
So, LOS or get in their faces. Or reflect. Or block. Or GG.
EDIT: Oh and before anyone says it, yes the Ranger will follow you every time. They’re about as smart as the pistol NPC’s at supply camps in WvW. Put a wall between the two of you and suddenly they want to give you a hug.

This has to be one of the stupidest threads ever created on this forum. Along with the emote rage thread.
+1
How much attention to their characters do people really pay? I’ve been playing for just about a year now and literally 2 weeks ago I discovered that GW2 has jiggle physics and that boobs bounce. If I hadn’t seen multiple threads about it here and on reddit I probably would have never noticed that the idle animations had been changed. Why do people actually care about this. Most MMO’s don’t even give characters voices (unless it’s a cutscene) let alone extensive idle animations.
EDIT: Also, I really hated the idle animations on human female anyway. They looked ditzy and ridiculous like they were some kind of stuck up kitten at a frat party waiting for some dude to come compliment her on her boob job.
Tanking the torment + other conditions then sending them back with Plague Signet/Locust Swarm/Putrid Mark then fear chaining them is the most fun I’ve had in ages.
Step 1: Equip full Berzerker gear
Step 2: Trait 6/6/0/2/0
Step 3: Slot Signet Of The Hunt, Signet Of Stone, “Protect Me!”, Troll Unguent and Rampage As One
Step 4: Equip Longbow and Greatsword
Step 5: Find a victim
Step 6: Pop Signet Of The Hunt and use Rapid Fire
Step 7: Victim tries to retaliate, pop Signet Of Stone and proceed to /laugh
Step 8: Pop “Protect Me!” and continue to /laugh while ticking between 10 and 18k with Rapid Fire every 8seconds.
And that’s not including Counter Attack (which means a total of 16seconds of invulnerability with signet and shout) and Hunter’s Shot and Point Blank Shot to buy time for Rapid Fire to be off cooldown.
If you’re full glass you can kill people fast but you die fast yourself, I see how that’s balanced. But with 16seconds of invulnerability and being able to tag people from 1,500 range… I don’t know, I’d borderline this at OP. I had no trouble killing a Guard and a Warrior 2v1 earlier and I was full glass. Killed the Guard before he could even get within spitting distance and when the Warrior got close I used Point Blank Shot, Hunter’s Shot, popped Signet Of Stone while using Rapid Fire, he got on top of me and did 0 damage because of invuln, popped “Protect Me!” and I finished him with greatsword. Seems a kitteneesy to me.
Not long. Got killed by more than a few Rapid Fire + Quickening Zephyr Rangers already. Decided to give it a shot myself and yeah, 10 – 12k damage in 1 second is pretty brutal.
How are you guys getting this down to 1 sec?
2.5 sec base
Read the Wind = 10% faster
Quickness = 50% faster2.5/1.6 = 1.56 sec
If there’s some other trick, please share.
Sorry I forgot miliseconds, because GW2 is srs bsns.

Pardon my optimism as knowing the Guild Wars 2 community I’ll get flamed for having a positive outlook – but the changes are the best yet.
I’ve yet to log in as my update is just now finishing but after reading through the patch notes I’m very happy and very excited. Especially as someone who mains a Ranger, I cannot wait to have a look around at all the alterations that have been made. Great job, guys (: Not that you need my approval but I am thoroughly pleased with everything I’ve read and as far as I can see, I have nothing bad to say about this feature pack.
See you in game (;
THE TRAPPER ONE HOLY kitten, LOLOL.
When I read this, omfg… I had to re-read it like five times and I literally “lol’d”. This is amazing, I am getting these runes immediately, holy christ, I’ve never been so happy. 3 traps + stealth spam anyone?
Cripple, Chill, Immobilize, Fear, Daze, Knockdown.
This
Also, in terms of WvW, it’s best not to push your luck anyway. When someone escapes my clutches I take the time to run the other way as well. I’m not the kind of person who will run away from a fight but if my opponent runs I’m not going to chase them because odds are they will either; run until they outnumber you or keep resetting until they win = not worth the time or risk.
Default
Flame Trap: Burning + Blindness
Frost Trap: Chill + Weakness
Spike Trap: Bleed + Cripple + Immobilize
Viper’s Next: Poison + Torment
Traited
Flame Trap: Burning + Blindness – Might per pulse
Frost Trap: Chill + Weakness – Protection per pulse
Spike Trap: Bleed + Cripple + Immobilize – Swiftness per pulse
Viper’s Nest: Poison + Torment – Regeneration per pulse
“Per pulse”, boons are applied when target activates the trap and are re-applied regardless of whether target remains in trap.
3seconds per boon = roughly 3 boon stacks/duration for each trap. Eg. Frost Trap has a 5second duration = 15seconds of protection
Either reduce the cast time to 3/4s and make this a survival skill, or just make it a shout.
Survival: -20% recharge, remove two conditions and give fury on activation.
With Survival of the FittestShout: Instant cast, -20% recharge, gives regen and swiftness.
With Shout Mastery and Nature’s Voice.I would personally love to see either, but a shout would be nice, if they took the cast time off “Guard” then we could have an actual shout build.
+1 for either of these.
Also, for those here saying Troll Unguent isn’t very good, I personally consider it one of the best heals in the game. It’s not easy to use it properly, especially if you’re using a squishy build, but because of it’s duration it feels like the recharge is 10 seconds and it gives the illusion of being a lot more tanky than you are. I suppose it’s just IMO, but I consider it our best heal.
On an unrelated topic, I like EOTM. I like commanding in it, I like that it’s almost always active, I like that it feels more care free, I like that there are often entertaining conversations happening in /map. I don’t think EOTM needs a change and I’ve asserted this before. I’ve spent a lot more time in regular WvW than EOTM, my recent time spent in Edge has just been because I’ve been enjoying myself there more than I thought I would. I’ll probably never understand why so many people hate it or demand it’s changed. The only thing I can think of is that people play regular WvW (Borderlands and EBG) because they want loot and not because they want to have fun. But because EOTM gives more loot/badges they demand it’s changed. -Shrug- Shoot me, I enjoy EOTM and don’t think it needs to be changed.. The only thing I’d change if I could is the occasional toxicity but that happens everywhere anyway.
It doesn’t bother me, honestly. This was a group joke where 3 people had tags up accidentally, one tagged down, then someone said “everyone tag up!” so we all did and moved together as one giant commander, it was actually hilarious :P. So just to be clear I wasn’t complaining about it, I just wanted to share the picture because I found it very funny.
But yeah no, everyone has tags now, I really hope 15 people tagging at the same time is funny for a few weeks then people stop doing it, otherwise it’s going to suck having 938792372837 commanders everywhere you go.
Heals for more the less health your pet has maybe? Pet has 10% health, heals for an additional 15% to get massive return?
If I’m not mistaken, NPC’s will aggro on the target with the highest toughness. Devourers have the highest toughness of all our pets. Try running full Knight’s gear or something and see how often they aggro on you instead.
for anyone here doubting ranger in terms of build, come 1v1 me in game Firstborn Strife, I use power build. no cheese builds like traps or spirits or regen condi builds PM me.
I think he meant he doesn’t use a cheese build not that you can’t use one. I could be wrong.
This is where he sets up confrontation. Builds he doesn’t like are cheese.
Why is trapper cheese |: ?
Wonder how many people don’t have commander tags now.
Some people just genuinely enjoy being generous, pay it forward and do something nice for a stranger at some point (: A guildy gave me The Lover a while back when I said I had decided to start crafting my first legendary and I thanked him countless times. It’s nice to know there are still people out there that get pleasure from making other people happy.
Pass it on and congratulations (: !
It takes roughly 250gold to craft to 500. Crafting the ascended item(s) themselves does not cost nearly as much. I have leveled Huntsman, Leatherworker, Artificer and Weaponsmithing all to 500 and it is very costly to do so even if you follow guides. Unfortunately I think your best bet is either to farm like crazy or to whip out the ’ol credit card and buy some gems to convert to gold. If you do the latter option however, I suggest buying your son a few nice items just for a treat, like a kite and some minis or something (:
Officially, the victor in WvW is whoever has the highest score by the end of the week.
Personally? As long as you’re having fun in WvW, you’re “winning”.
+1.
I don’t care how people want to define winning. You come first place, you win.Can you really win something if there’s no competition though? Most of the time it’s not even close.
Meh.. You win some you lose some. If the server we’re up against out numbers us 10 to 1 I’m not going to say “they didn’t win because they had way too many people” when the week is over. Who ever has the most points is the winner, the weekly bonus rewards based on your servers performance in the previous match up makes that pretty clear. I’m not in any way suggesting that blob = skill, I’m just saying that I’m not going to deny our loss if we’re heavily out matched. Until ANet designs a system that can score based on number of defenses and successful open field battles, 100 PPT > 0 PPT.
Thief was way too glassy for any kind of condi stacking against that ele. If they added a bit of dire, switched the hut off for a knockdown and kept the blinds up they could have won that fight.
P/D thieves when played properly cannot lose unless they screw up. They might run away but that is the worst that can happen.
Yes they can lose. Was roaming with a condi mancer few days ago, thief didnt last long when all his condies was nearly instantly flung back at him. Call it a bad thief, but like any thief build, 1-2 seconds loss of focus and you’re dead.
Heh, I enjoy doing this also. When against condition builds it’s fun to act like I’m too scared to retaliate, camping Death Shroud letting them stack conditions on me, then hopping out to Plague Signet them and fearing them so they can’t cleanse. I’m actually excited for the changes that are happening to Mesmer because it’s going to be hilarious watching them panic when I throw all their torment back in their face then stack some of my own torment on top :P.

Staff, wells, Spectral Wall, all great utilities for zerging. Plague bombing the backline is also effective. Guardians, Warriors and Elementalists are mostly the buffers while Necromancers are the debuffers.
Rank 1,367, one ascended armor chest at rank 999, Knight stats. I only have two characters that spend the majority of their lives in WvW, a trapper Ranger (condition) and a maximum condition damage Necromancer. The chest will collect dust in my bank and probably never see use. GG.
harharhar got rekt by condi spec when running power…. bet it was a power bunker or less bursty power spec then….
The problem is that conditionspecs can be bunkers and tanky as hell but still do as much dps as a full spec zerker with no survival. It’s simple – it takes one stat to go full out condition and three stats to go power.
Conditions have a wind up, power doesn’t. Power builds always try to kite and outlive condition spec’s, I see it happen all the time. They think if they play defensive and stay at range somehow they’re safe. Power damage is instant, condition damage is over time. Aggressive power spec’d builds will always beat a condition build, but 90% of power spec’d builds are too stupid to be aggressive.
Roaming on a Necromancer with dire condition build is fun. It gives good heath, and toughness with a hard hitting tick. It’s also not getting really nerfed or upgraded with the 9/9 updates so its still a very powerful build.
No mobility. Awful roamer.
While I agree very strongly that mobility is important, knowing your limits and having a good sense of positional awareness are also very important. If you have the latter two, you can roam just fine with 0 mobility. I manage to do plenty of things without ever dying on my Necromancer and my only form of mobility is via Spectral Walk, which I don’t even use unless I’m in a fight. Check your sides and back, keep yourself updated by checking the map frequently, make sure any fights you have are in your favor (not infront of an enemy tower/at an enemy camp) and if the numbers are against you, kite until they’re not.
I’m not trying to disprove you as once again I agree and think that Necromancer is very low tier for roaming, but if you practice enough it’s totally doable and very viable.
I dont wvw….and wvw map should not be a part of world completion. The pvp maps arent needed for world completion, the dungeons points arent needed for world completion, the mists arent needed for world completion. So why in the kitten should the WVW no talent zerg, scrubfest be needed for completion??
Because the tears of PvE scrublords are always delicious, especially when they are delivered to the WvW forums.
LOL..I’m not a Pver either scrub. I am a PvPer that just wants WC for the legendary.
And, c’mon lets be serious. It takes no skill to run in a blob all day long and proclaim youre a good player after zerging smaller groups. However, if u wanna move up to real PVP let me know and I’ll school you. Zerg scrub. There are more diverse things at work in WvW than just zerging. And throwing around the word “scrub” seems hypocritical since in this case it would be you that’s not seeing the whole picture. Good for you, you PvP. We all enjoy different aspects of the game. Before insulting people and assuming things you clearly know nothing about, it might be a good idea to do a little experimental research such as engaging in the other activities of WvW, namely scouting, roaming, havocing, etc. Blobbing takes very little effort but there is still a degree of attention that’s necessary. If all you’re doing is AFK 111111111111ing you’re going to die pretty fast. And a good blob will have very few deaths, which means very few people are being total zombies. So please remove yourself from the WvW forums, I think it’s quite obvious we’re not prepared to bask in the rays of your PvP magnificence at this point in time. Perhaps some day in the future we will be able to handle your presence but for now we will happily jump on your corpse and /laugh until you leave the map, turn to the forums and QQ about your dismay.
Actually i can discuss any aspect of this game, because i have done them all. You say it takes skill to play in WVW?? When did this happen? The few years Ive been playing this game and going into WVW its always a zergfest. Sure you can scout, and once spotted, what to do most scouts do??? Run back to the zerg, even its a solo. Then that solo follows the scout hoping for a fair fight and gets zerged.
Lets see what else is there in WVW?? Oh ya you can sit at a keep all day and make call-outs if someone gets close. Then the ZERG comes in to save the day hopefully.
The wvw world scene is full of sheep. I put my commander tag on all the time while camping spawns. And the sheep are drawn to that blue tag, because most are scrubs. Hell, i had 27 people a week back just camping spawns. I did it for kittens and giggles just to see how bad WVW players are. And i wasnt surprised.
Hm, well.. Your attitude and, from what I gather from the rest of the posts here, your personality, are both very sour. I can’t imagine you have much else to do with your time not having friends, or at the very least not loyal friends, narcissistic behavior probably being the primary cause of that and a very poor understanding of personal opinions and perspectives.. So it makes a lot of sense that you enjoy wasting other peoples time, including your own, by trolling with a commander tag, putting people down on the forums and I wouldn’t doubt in /map chat as well. Have fun kittening your life away with a fabricated sense of self importance and later of self loathing for being such a narrow minded kittenwit.

Transferred to Desolation EU temporarily. Have been eagerly awaiting the time to transfer back on to Jade Quarry as I am now officially home sick. Finally the server isn’t full, I select transfer “network error” game logs me out. I log back in, server is full again…
I’ve been checking back to see when it’s open multiple times a day, every day for almost two weeks… And that was the first time I had seen it open since and I get “network error”… NETWORK ERROR?! kittenING SERIOUSLY?! I am not pleased right now and if this happens again I assure you you will hear from me, ANet.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?
I tick 1.6 per second on people with all buffs (food, guard stacks, corruption) and ascended/legendary weapons/armor. 2.4k condition damage when fully buffed, close to 3k with enough might stacked. I could believe a 2k fear tick, terror is brutal if you’re 100% condition damage. Nothing is more satisfying than when I land my entire burst on someone (which has a bit of a wind up because there are quite a few steps involved) and top it off with terror while I watch their health go down in massive chunks (:
Just a for fun topic (:
Which pet(s) do you most enjoy and why?
I’ll go first; Siamooth: It’s tanky enough to survive in zergs and while roaming has awesome F2 utility. Consume Plasma or two stealths which I very much enjoy. It’s not always easy to get to the item it forges but Consume Plasma + Rampage As One is a pretty amazing combination capable of carrying you through some nasty situations.
Salamander Drake: Although the F2 is extremely difficult to land it can deal some hefty damage when it does. It’s plenty tanky and has great DPS as well. One of my favorites because of how well balanced between defense and offense it is, and the cleave is great too!
I’m fully aware these aren’t ideal pets. I’ve spent a lot of time playing Ranger and have experimented with all the pets our profession has to offer. The wolf is of course, hands down, our best pet, but these two are my favorites regardless. Don’t judge a Ranger by their pets! Judge them by how they’re used (:
I guess I’m the only one who is never standing still when I’m scouting because I maintain all towers when I do, lol. Try refreshing siege, protecting camps, walking yaks, building siege and killing roamers all at the same time. It can be pretty exciting if you’re capable of multi-tasking. Just don’t lose yourself with one job or another or one of your towers might get ninja’d while you’re away doing something else.
I get where you’re coming from as someone who spends the majority of their time scouting or roaming. But it can be a fun job if you try to make it exciting by doing more than just standing there. It also gives you lots of free time to have conversations in /say /map or in /whisper if you’re social. Personally though I rarely find myself bored as I’m not often still for very long while I’m scouting. If everything is fully sieged, upgraded and refreshed, I take that time to go flip some enemy camps while checking the map every so often to be sure our territory is safe. If once again everything is upgraded/sieged/refreshed and there are no camps to take, then things can start to get a bit boring. But you can still bounce between towers watching for attacks or sniping roamers the majority of the time. Just be creative and you shouldn’t get bored (:
I’ve played a lot of WvW. In fact, it’s just about all I’ve done since I started playing Guild Wars 2. I have a lot of server pride and I’ve spent the majority of my time in WvW scouting, roaming and doing what I can to strengthen our defenses and maintain a healthy PPT.
Unfortunately, a bit of drama arose between some friends and I on Jade Quarry so I moved to Desolation. I was indecisive about whether I would stay on Desolation permanently or whether I would eventually move back to Jade Quarry but this week has made the decision for me. I’m sorry if you haven’t always been this way Deso, but this week and most of what happened prior to it has been a total joke and I have no server pride because I haven’t been here long enough to develop one. So I will definitely be moving back to Jade Quarry..
This all adds up to EOTM though so this whole rant has relevance. After spending hours and hours upgrading towers, escorting yaks, scouting our territory and trying to defend against zergs of 50+ people by myself I gave the f_ck up because it seemed like I was the only one making an effort.. So as of late (the past 2 or 3 days) I’ve been spending my time in EOTM and actually really enjoying myself. It’s nice not having to sit in towers for hours doing basically nothing or roaming, flipping camps and killing dolyaks doing thankless jobs. EOTM isn’t “real” WvW and initially I was a bit ashamed of myself for enjoying it.. But I’m a WvW veteran and I’ve done more than enough to earn my place there. I think I’m allowed to zombie-train if I want to and I have to agree with OP.. There are no responsibilities, just fun and random conversations in map chat, lots of loot and karma, occasionally large scale ZvZ and there’s no harm in losing everything you own because the PPT doesn’t matter. So if WvW does die, EOTM is an enjoyable place to retire to. I accept that it’s just a ktrain but I also accept that the server I’m currently on has basically given up completely and I’m not going to try to rebuild their defenses when I have no identity here.
When you join a PUG group know in advance that you can’t expect flawless behavior, a perfect run and friendly people. If you have a problem with that, run dungeons only with a guild or people you’re friends with. If you think you’re special and should be able to run a dungeon how ever/when ever you like, create your own group and be as specific as you wish. If people disobey your specifications you’re entitled to kick them. Kicking someone after the dungeon is nearly completed in order for a friend or guild mate to join is in incredibly poor taste. That person made the effort to run the dungeon with you and the rest of the group only to be replaced by someone who made no effort. If you do it I think you are deserving of any consequences that may follow you.
Bottom line is that PUG groups are just that, pick up groups. They are composed of a random assortment of people that are not guaranteed to be good players or good people. Guild groups, assuming you are familiar with those that are in your party, are much more likely to be co-operative but are still just as capable of being difficult. Set a positive morale for the group by saying hello and being friendly and chances of anyone, including yourself, becoming upset and hostile will be reduced dramatically.
Ah, it warms me heart to see a Ranger who knows what they’re doing.. I love Ranger so kitten much and it always makes me so happy to see people who are actually competent with it. So many people and their “Ranger’s are bad” blah, blah, lol.
Great video! I also enjoyed the relaxing music (: If you haven’t done so already, I would really like to see a video like this but using a trapper build. Personally I roam with full traps and get along quite nicely with it, but I think you’d do better than I would. So I would like to see someone who knows what they’re doing better than I do so I can study a bit, yenno!
Somewhere along the lines I feel like I may have misunderstood something, so I’d like to ask here to clarify;
My total age since I started playing is 331 days, which means I’m getting close to my first birthday. But my oldest character is (I’m not currently online so I forget the actual number of days) somewhere around 290 days. I never kept my very first character because I wanted to free up character slots and I was a terrible Engineer. But I seem to have gotten the idea that your birthday isn’t determined by how long you’ve been playing but by your oldest character. Is this correct?
I’m sorry if it’s a stupid question but as I’ve said, somehow I’ve come to thinking this and I don’t know if it’s right or not.
Jesus… I wonder how many people have reached Diamond. I’ve seen only a handfull of Mithril’s, in all of my playtime I’d ballpark it at 20 – 30, a good sized group of Platinum’s, maybe 100 or more and a whole heap of gold’s and silvers (Silver Champion myself). But I have only KNOWN not actually seen his rank, one Diamond rank. Never actually seen a Diamond on an offending server in real WvW or in EOTM. Makes me wonder how many people in the whole game are higher than a Mithril rank.
And for the record, I have played a lot of WvW, most of it being in T1. If I haven’t seen any Diamond ranks I can’t imagine there to be very many.
Congratulations though, I think :P. That is an insane amount of grinding. I seriously suggest you stand menacingly in the distance of a keep while people debate on whether they should approach your or not just for lol’s. Imagining the conversations they’d be having would be hilarious, “Holy f_ck, Diamond Legend for real? … Go poke it, I’ll pay you.”
now can we pls have aviator sunglasses back?

I remember one time in WvW when a zerg was attacking Bravost in EBG, I rushed to the portal trying to get in, hopped in to Plague which I had to be in for the full duration, then immediately hopped in to Death Shroud which I also had to be in for the full duration, I was then CC’d out of Death Shroud left with no other defenses, I popped Spectral Armor immediately after being CC’d again and then was left immobilized and wasn’t able to type /sit fast enough before the zerg swallowed me alive. I was not happy… Survived the entire zerg dog piling me for almost a full minute only to die because I couldn’t emote fast enough.
What are you looking forward to trying out?
Since I’m an avid WvW roamer I’m keen to dust off my full zerk gear/build and see how much damage spike I can stack up with SotW + QZ + RtW + Rapid Fire. For the most part I probably won’t be rolling with QZ, but it’ll be interesting to see the effects of that spike. I’m also keen just to see the effects of zerg-surfing with longbow auto-attack at 900+ range with the additional RtW 10% attack speed and QZ. Longbow AA + QZ is already incredibly viable for a zerg sniper to pick-off enemy zerg stragglers (and pre-patch I’d especially not recommend wasting QZ on rapid fire), but that little extra 10% might spice it up even more.
I’ll also be keen to see how the axe might affects my usual a/d s/t condi bunker build, but not until I’ve satiated my lust for other peoples’ QQ with the DPS buff of course.
Will also get around to making a build similar to the longbow power/toughness meta and see what can be done with the updates there.
I cannot express how psyched I am for the axe buff.. I personally roam as a trapper and have never gotten good enough to use the sword. I love mainhand axe despite it’s poor damage and use it more for it’s #2 and 3 skills before swapping back to my shortbow. But when the patch goes live I’ll have a lot more reason to camp axe/torch since I’ll be stacking might. I tend to experiment with builds on which ever profession I play, getting a taste for everything the profession has to offer, before finding one I like and settling on it for a very long time. My Necromancer’s maximum condition build has remained unchanged for 6+ months now and my Ranger’s full trapper build has been the same for nearly as long. Having buffs that will benefit a build you love and are comfortable with is very exciting and small though it may be, I’m over the moon knowing I’ll be able to boost my condition damage via might stacking after the changes go through. -Girly scream-
Oh and I almost forgot to mention; I was sifting through viable runes/sigils for the axe changes and I came across these http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_the_Aristocracy
Since I run full condition (Dire/Rabid) I think these will work very nicely for might stacking (:

A jumping buff would be nice. This is why I always choose human though :P. The middle ground, sturdy and reliable like a Honda xD.
Sure, sometimes a pvp pro will come on and beat me down when they only have invader rank, but truth be told I still take more caution when I encounter a Gold ranked engineer that comes straight at my thief I’ll consider that they may know what they’re doing. Still in any case, it’s still more indicative than having 100 extra gold. Exceptions abound everywhere.
Agreed :P. Although I find that extremely high ranks are usually zerglings there are certainly exceptions, and when I see gold, platinum or just generally high ranks coming my way I’m a bit more cautious than when I see a bronze rank. So I do agree that the OP’s suggestion for filtering commanders may help to a degree, I still don’t think it would be any different than asking them via whisper what their rank is. You have the knowledge of their time spent in WvW but you still have no idea whether they’re going to drive the zerg off a cliff or dominate the continent.
Unfortunately I don’t think there is any viable way to advertise whether a commander is skilled or not, at least in regard to visuals or statistics.
Follow them for a short while and you can decide for yourself whether you like them or not. I take WvW very serious personally and I’m just as serious about who I want to follow. For the most part I roam because there are only a select few commanders I fully trust. If you think they are bad you don’t need to announce it because it’s rude, if other people dislike them they will stop following them. Don’t follow a pin just because there’s one on the map then complain about how they’re driving, pay attention to what they’re doing and why they’re doing it and if you don’t like it stop following, go somewhere else or do something useful like scouting for them.
It would be nice to be able to see whether a commander is good or not without having to follow them first but I don’t know if there’s a reliable way to do that. You could have it so that people rate said commander from 1 to 10 based on their performance but you’re still not going to have everyone agree on a number. The best thing I can suggest is to sacrifice 10 to 20 minutes of your time following the commander to decide whether they’re good or not, or learning how to command yourself. As long as no one is being put down in the process I don’t think it should be a problem deciding whether the current pin is a good leader or not.
I’ve said this in the last thread that suggested it and I stand by my protest, if they ever decide to make Necromancer Death Shroud function more like Warrior’s Adrenaline, I will never play a Necro again.
I know the chances of that happening are extremely slim, but I’ve seen the rumor going around and I godkitten well hope it’s just that, a rumor…
As for the changes regarding survivability, I would say it’s well deserved and makes me very happy to imagine becoming a true attrition fighter. I won’t hold my breath for anything amazing but knowing they want to give us better sustain excites me very much, so we’ll see what September brings.
