Only if you separate the druid from Rangers, as they are needed in raids. Thief however is only tolerated if every other relevant position is filled.
How do you think it would look if all characters held the crossbow like they hold a shortbow?
The argument was solely based on the work devs have to put into it. Crossbows could just use the standard animations from rifles or pistols, but implementing alternate animations for shortbows would probably need a lot of work. That would make it a lot more likely to see them as a skin for pistols or rifles.
I would prefer them having their own weapon type though.

Exactly. I have to say though that Gaile should have mentioned what the problem was so that people could at least understand what’s going on.
Thief.
- Daredevil has basically made acrobatics irrelevant, as it does the same and more
- Other professions are now better in stealthing, which was supposed to be the thief’s strong suit
- The revenant in shiro stance is a better thief than the thief (especially with S/A)
- Initiative was completely left out when they designed alacrity
- It has no value for the team, in a meta that requires team synergies (PvE)
- Only good for damage (PvE)
- Bad in team fights
- And 1v1s
- the shortbow is nearly useless if it weren’t for the mobility
- Stolen items don’t matter in PvE
- Dagger/dagger dual skill is anti-synergistic (condition skill while everything else is power)
- Pistol auto attack anti-synergistic and just plain bad (condition skill while everything else is power)
- No diversity of viable builds
- Boring to play, as the autoattack now does the best damage
- Traps are useless
- Venoms are useless (basilisk venom being an exception, but that’s an elite skill)
- Far too many useless traits
- Many other things I forgot to mention

Did you see any movement enhancing skills he used?
If not, you report him by left clicking on his character, then right click on his image next to his health bar and select “report”. Choose “botting” as report reason and click send. Done.
You could redirect pass owners to the royal terrace in the meantime, I think we have some capacities there. Refugees welcome!
While I like the suggestion to have them on every character, I think the description is rather clear. There is a significant difference between any and all. If it meant all, it would say all.
When your system asks you to “press any key to continue”, do you press all keys?
I didn’t think so.
At the moment it’s the missing skill 1 bug from LS2. The immob bug being a close second though…
The node for your home instance has a chance to give a charged quartz crystal. The chance is small but it helps if you need a lot of them. You can get the node from the laurel vendor.
Apparently the amount of money you can send increases by about 2 gold every 10 hours of playtime, so you can just log in and let your character autorun against a wall for a while. (Not entirely sure if autorun prevents disconnecting because of inactivity)
Hope this helps.
There are no builds that enable your char to just stand there and take hits. If you do that, you die. Tankiness comes mostly from evades, blocks, blinds etc. High vitality and toughness helps of course, but getting hit is still bad. If you fight a burst build, negate their burst, their damage will drop significantly after that. You can then start hitting back and wait for the next burst. Conditions are your friend.
For WvW, you could give this a try:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Mesmer_-_PU_Condi_Roamer
It’s not for necros, but could suit your playstyle. Dire gear is also rather cheap.
I fully support this
I am talking about the salvaged magi’s/dire/… insignias and inscriptions, as they are the cheapest ones available. One insignia costs ~60s on the TP, compaired to crafting costs of roughly 5-6g for the other insignias. For inscriptions the savings are less, but still very noticeable.
I didn’t say it was impossible to get crafting to 500, only that there will be some serious problems. To be more precise, he won’t be able to buy the cheaper insignias and inscriptions, wich will make levelling a lot more expensive. I am not sure if he can buy T6 fine mats and ectos, so it could be that he would even need to farm those himself.
I suppose that’s kind of fair for long standing players vs someone like me coming in fresh where all the content is new and part of the $50 I spent.
I guess that’s it for many people, they only see that they paid 50$/€ when the game released and have to spend another 50$/€ to get HoT. So they spent a total of 100 bucks where you only paid 50 for the same content. That’s all they care about.
They completely disregard the fact that they played the game for probably thousands of hours in that time, experienced a world that had yet to be explored and was not neatly documented in a wiki, got free content you will probably never see (looking at you, LS1), got hundreds of gold worth from the login rewards alone, could play dungeons while there were still people doing them…it seems like that is all completely worthless to them and they find it outrageous that they would ever have to pay for new content again. The greed is strong in some people…
I’d say being part of the market is rather restricted, because you cannot sell or buy nonbasic items on the TP. However, selling materials is mostly possible so he can definately make some gold, especially the silverwastes are open to all. That starts at lv80 though.
Crafting ascended gear is not easy, as Garambola pointed out. Laurels are an accountbound currency with which you can buy ascended recipes and they are only attainable in the daily login reward chests of paid accounts and in reward chests you get for having 100/250/500/1000/1500… achievement points.
Additionally, however, he will have serious problems in getting the crafting professions to 500, because I believe he cannot use the TP for some of the required materials. Of course you could buy them for him, but he won’t be able to send the money back until he purchased HoT. I’d just stick to exotics, they are enough.
HoT is not needed for WvW. There are several builds that don’t use the specialization, for example here is a link to a mesmer build:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Mesmer_-_Burst_Shatter
IIRC, your friend will have to level up a to level 60 before he can enter WvW, but levelling is rather fast anyway.
He will have to live with some restrictions, but playing with a F2P account is definately possible. Just be prepared to wait for him a lot, as his inventory will be very limited and he will need to empty it regularly.
we want breast !!!
Nope, that’s mostly just you. Asuras have enormous brains instead and need double-K-sized heads to contain their genious. Being smart is being sexy.
There are two stages to restrictions on new accounts. I bought myself a second account almost four weeks ago and still can’t fully use it.
1. There is a 7 day block for mails. This means, you cannot send either money or items at all. Same goes to nonbasic items on the TP. The game tells you for how long these restrictions continue, although the message sometimes has displaying errors, so you cannot read it properly.
2. After these 7 days, you can send a restricted amount of money and items. If the amount of money and/or the value of the items you are trying to send exceeds that amount the game will tell you that your are restricted in what you can send (see attachment). It does not tell you how much you can actually send or for how long these restrictions apply, though I think the wiki stated 30 days. I would say that the total value you can send is around 3 gold, I can’t tell exactly however, as each failed attempt counts towards the mail “spam” restriction and I don’t care to wait that long for another attempt. I cannot send 8 vials of powerful blood or 4g in gold. I can send 8 mystic coins though.
As I said, my second account is nearly four weeks old (the next login reward is the chest of loyalty) and still restricted. So I hope the restriction only lasts for 30 days…

what about this one?
That’s the only one I would actually call a beard But it still looks awefully tame, like I just left the barber shop.
I want stuff like this:
(And yes, the female Norn shall have them too)
As the title says, I think there is a serious lack of good facial hair styles for male humans. They all look perfectly trimmed and tame, and IMO only one of them actually deserves to be called a beard.
Can we please have more options for longer, and more wild looking beards? Something like Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones or Leo in the Revenant and Django Unchained. Even some of the Norn beards would be fine.
Beards can give so much character to a face and I find it surprising that Anet chooses to give us so few options to customize our male characters.
Please, add more beards! I might even pay for cool new facial hair styles.
Edit: This is what I am talking about:

I really like HoT and I mostly knew what I was buying. Up to this date there are only two things that annoy me, the first is the unfinished underwater combat for the revenant and the second is the high amount of xp needed for the masteries. I would be totally fine with that if there were more maps to play on, but as it is currently you have to go through the same conten a few too many times. I would be really happy if they reduced the amount of xp needed for them in the Q2 update or LS3 came sooner and added another awesome map to the game.
If we’re going into non universe things, lets at least start small like other well known fantasy franchises. How about wizard robes, boots, and pants for Gandalf char?
And longer beards!!
Wow, really? That’s good news!
Do you have a link where they said that? Seems like I’ve missed it…
Sure: link
It’s undeniable the acquisition is pathetic by now.
Awesome, thank you! I very curious about what they will do about them. I guess they will eiter add more ways to obtain orbs, for example as dungeon rewards, or add them to map rewards. Or, just a wish, as WvW rewards… 0:)
No thank you. Open world should be open to everyone. You may have as many “Holy crap!”-moments as you wish inside raids etc., but I see no good coming from it elsewhere. Sorry.
Wow, really? That’s good news! Do you have a link where they said that? Seems like I’ve missed it…
I did that for a few hundred orbs, until my mouse, fingers and brain cried in pain and begged me to stop. Sure, if you want to save every last silver you can do that. But tbh, I’d save myself the struggle and rather spend that time in the silverwastes and just buy stuff to transmute. You can then spend your spirit shards to craft and sell stuff, and buy even more ingredients for the gemstones.
I agree that the gemstones are absurd atm, and I am not sure why Anet thought this was a good idea. If they wanted us to get a full stack of fulgurites they could have done that another way.
However, the prices for orbs etc. are also inflated right now because there are a lot of people buying them. If you wait another year or so, they will drop in price because the initial surge of people who go after the new legendaries will be done with them (gemstones dropped back from 4g/ea already).
In the meantime, if you want one of the new legendaries, expect them to be more expensive than one of the old ones. I do not expect Anet to do anything about them.
Join a group for lv2 swamp, takes about 3 minutes. You can also do it with a buddy and do it in ~6 minutes. It really is easy even with 2 people.
I think your calculations are a bit off.
You need 2250 orbs and 5 dust for each of them, that makes 2250 × 5 = 11,250 dust (not 22500!). At the current buy price of 3.86s that is a total price of ~434 gold. Adding the roughly 80 gold for crystals you are at 514 gold, which is about 200 gold less than the buy price for 250 gemstones, or 23 gold less than buying 2250 of the currently cheapest doubloon.
I don’t see your point there. Transmuting crystals is a totally viable option and definately saves you some gold.
Edit: To make things clear, you need 5 dust per orb, not per crystal.

I don’t play PvP for the rewards. I play PvP for the 5v5 fights (I only play Arenas, actually, I used to only play ranked Arenas, even before reward tracks).
This game has turned into “I want presents for everything I do”. Which if that is what you need, that’s your opinion. I don’t feel that. I want to win in PvP. If they went back to the old system, I wouldn’t care. As long as they never get rid of the 5v5 arenas, I’m happy.
For PvP this is totally fine as you have very little expenses in general. You don’t need to buy ascended armor, weapons and trinkets, various consumables and siege equipment to play optimally. WvW, however, can be very expensive. To be competitive you need ascended gear which currently costs a few hundred gold per character, you need food and nourishments (~1,5g/hour), you need to upgrade your guild hall (gazillions of gold), you need siege weapons (up to 3g a piece) etc. You need some income for this, and sadly, it doesn’t come from WvW itself. You need to play PvE to pay for all of this. If WvW was self-sustainable I guess many WvW’ers would never set foot on Tyria.
Tl;dr: Be happy that you don’t need rewards to play PvP. WvW’ers don’t have that luxury.
I know what you mean. Five minutes of PvE gets you more stuff than an hour of WvW. In fact, you will often pay extra there, as siege, food and stuff isn’t cheap.
Anet announced a rework of the reward system for WvW, and I have created a thread in the WvW forum to collect ideas and opinions on how to change the rewards there. Unfortunately, participation was very sparse, so please share your ideas there. The devs do seem to read the forums at the moment, so your ideas will be heard.
Haha, awesome (Unfortunately, downed enemies are seldomly airborne ^^)
Anyway, I’d love more complex animations for finishers
I have no idea who Randy Orton is, but I am always for new finishers, hence I fully support that request!
~snip~
1. The game does prompt you to confirm that you really want to spend those points. If you don’t pay attention that’s actually your fault, not Anet’s.
2. If you made a mistake, Anet support will help you fix the problem. However, and from what I can tell from the tone of your recent posts, this might be important for you, if you are rude, lie about what happened or blame Anet for things that were clearly your mistakes, they will react like most people do when you are rude to them – they won’t bother helping you.
So in the future, if you continue to play (if not, can I have your stuff?), just file a ticket explaining in a friendly tone what happened and you will be helped quickly and completely. The Anet support is great – if you are nice.
Welcome to the community, and congratulations on your excellent choice. Enjoy your stay
Hey,
the current state of rewards distributed in WvW is pretty bad, especially if you compare the rewards to PvE or PvP. In fact, it is more or less required to PvE to sustain a competitive WvW play with foods, utilities, guild buffs and ascended gear.
Fortunately, ArenaNet has anounced improvements to WvW rewards. While there is no current ETA on when they will come, I guess that’s still pretty good news, especially if these changes go along with other needed adjustments to WvW.
While there are threads to discuss what the most urgent fixes should do in general, I haven’t seen one that discusses what you all would like to see for the improved rewards for WvW.
Do you want reward tracks like in PvP? If so, what tracks would you like to see?
How do they work? See here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Reward_Track
What other reward improvements would you suggest?
Here are some things I would personally like to see:
1. Way more options to get all kinds of mats. Let enemy players drop random tiers of salvagable rags or metal scraps, let dolyaks aktually drop food supplies and give camp overseers, keep lords etc. a chance at some T6 fine mats. Add bloodstone dust, toxic spore samples etc.
2. Make badges of honor, proof of heroics and memory of battle valuable. Let us trade them for top tier foods and utilities (account bound, if necessary), ascended stuff, mats etc.
3. Skins. Maybe even legendary ones. And require us to actually play WvW to get them. Also, finishers.
4. Reward tracks. Many of the above things can be done through reward tracks. Repeatable reward tracks for foods and stuff necessary for guild hall upgrades, others for skins, finishers, possibily also a longer one for the commander badge.
What more can you think of?
I would actually prefer it if they added a chance of a random salvagable rag when you kill an enemy player in WvW.
It’s a known issue. The same happens with the mysterious wall and some other objects in LS2. We’ll have to wait for a fix…
They didn’t mention any specifics but they are working on improving/adding WvW rewards. I suppose the greatest reward of all is probably having a (set of) WvW-only legendary(/ies). However, I guess/hope they will focus on making WvW a self-sustained format first and add further rewards later on.
Same here, unfortunately
Very good experiences here too. Accidently added a new HoT serial to the wrong account, took only two hours to sort everything out. Very pleased with the support staff
Dulfy has great guides for all HPs. She lists all required masteries and the number of recommended players. Here are the links:
Verdant Brink: http://dulfy.net/2015/10/25/gw2-verdant-brinks-hero-points-guide/
Auric Basin: http://dulfy.net/2015/10/26/gw2-auric-basin-hero-points-guide/
Tangled Depths: http://dulfy.net/2015/10/27/gw2-tangled-depths-hero-points-guide/
Dragon’s Stand: http://dulfy.net/2015/11/02/gw2-dragons-stand-hero-points-and-strongboxes-guide/
The thing is that we can see the potential maximum values for all possible sources (Bank, wallet, minis, etc.), as GW2E lists highest values seperated by playtime.
That person has 391 hours of playtime, so he falls into the intervall of 100-500 hours. Lets assume that all maximum values belong to that one account. Here are the numbers:
Miniature value: 1,514 gold
Wardrobe value: 69,352 gold
Dye value: 4,731 gold
TP value: 4,086 gold
Material Storage: 5,052 gold
Bank: 38,714 gold
Liquid gold: 214,748 gold
Characters: 5,241,100 gold
Total account: 5,312,049 gold
As you can see, the value comes neither from skins, miniatures nor any combination of them. The lion’s share of the value comes from items on the characters that don’t add much to the liquid gold of the account. No idea what that could be though. Maybe it’s really just an error.
Unfortunately all those stacks wouldn’t even add a single copper to your account value
Remember this person also has nearly every BLTC skin unlocked ;-)
The maximum worth of unlocked skins for accounts with playtime between 100 and 500 hours is ~69k, for dyes it’s only 4.7k. That’s not where that account value comes from.
Edit: 5.241.100 gold of the total worth of 5.312.049 are stored on characters and only a fraction of that has at least vendor value.
(edited by Sphinx.8014)
No, it’s not. There is a seperate statistic for gold in your wallet on GW2 Efficiency. Liquid gold is what you would have if you sold everything you own for the current sell order price.
Click on “Account” —> “Overview” and you will see values for “total account value”, “total money (sell)” and “total money (buy)”. Total account value includes nonsellable assets such as unlocked dyes and skins, whereas total money (sell) is only the money you could potentially liquify and does not include assets without at least vendor value. It is identical to the values listed for liquid gold on the statistics page.
(edited by Sphinx.8014)
I’d say that as that person has “only” ~200k of liquid gold (which includes the value of all character inventories, bank tabs, mat storage and TP buy/sell orders), the remaining 5.100.000 gold of account worth would have to be account bound items on the characters, no? If that person had tabs full of unbound eternities they should add towards liquid gold.
In a heartbeat. Prepurchased HoT and never regreted doing so. Also, I am very curious about the direction of the game now that Mike O’Brien took over Colin’s role. I must say I trust him very much, and I believe it will be for the better.
I can’t find how Efficiency defines “character value” and “liquid gold”.
The character value includes gear and everything these characters have in their inventory.
Liquid gold is the amount of gold you have if you sold everything you own for sell value.
