Do you want to zerg or roam in WvW? Are you using the focus for run buff or did you have some sort of plan with it? Are you planning to shatter offensively?
For utility, I think you should go for blink. Blink is a great skill for just about any mesmer build. It may seem like a very defensive skill, but you can also use it to confuse enemies, or even as a chase skill. It’s very versatile. I never play WvW without it.
You might want to max out dueling for the extra crit damage and precision. Dueling has a lot of good traits, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find something you want.
I Zerg mostly
I use Focus because it has a pretty awesome AoE Phantasm, Swiftness, cripple and AoE Interrupt.
Also I like to use this Sw/F rotation: 5—>3—>3—>2
As for maxing out dueling, I don’t really know what to take… Furious Interrupt is pretty awesome, but I don’t have many interrupts :\ [#5 GS and double #4 Focus].
Oh and I do like to Shatter quiet a lot, after all illusions die pretty quick so I usually shatter as soon as I can get 3 illusions up… Which is by the way, why I was thinking about going 30 into inspiration and get Restorative Illusions
Maybe you were lagging :/
I often get interupted out of my blurred frenzy… really often
How can you be interrupted from it if you’re dodging the whole time? Doesn’t make sense to me ><
in the world of lagg, nothing, and everything makes sense.[/quote]
It’s weird
I’ve been seeing quiet a few people complaining about lags
Personally I’ve never lagged in this game, which is AMAZING, since I live in the freakin’ middle east and lagging have ruined many games for me …
I’m new to Mesmer, been playing Necro until now and decided to start leveling a Mesmer.
I primarily play WvW and dungeons, not much else. I want a build suited for WvW [and for dungeons I’ll probably make some slight changes by the need]
I want my Mesmer to be able survive well [probably gonna use Knight’s gear] and have the ability to Burst and hit like a truck. I know these 2 not always go together, but I think a Mesmer can pull it off…
So basically I need help with 2 things:
1. Heavy bursting rotations
2. A build. I was thinking something like this: http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-N;4VP;107BVV71;9;4JJ;29-39;9R;4udbTudbTMOGvcF35;34-8WCXIYM3U_8LV4V0N-Agk1Agq
What I can’t seem to set my mind on is: 3rd Utility, Mental Toment or Crippling Dissipation in Domination, Sigils on Weapons, and what to do with the remaining 30 points. [Not that sure about the Scholar rune either, what do you think?]
Thanks in advance

Thanks to IgooR I managed to fix it
Thanks for all the replies
What are your culling settings?
If you are playing on low or lowest try setting them to at least medium and see if this helps.
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘culling’ settings, but I’ve tried to raise pretty much all the graphics settings, still nothing :\
Hi SrebX – Have you tried running repair on the client first? Additionally, I’d make sure you have the latest DirectX updates in addition to the latest drivers for your video card.
Just did all 3, still nothing :\
There’s some stuff in-game that I’m just not able to see… they’re just invisible and I can only see the Shadows
For example: The flaming balls which you have to run through in CoF P1, Gigantic Lupi’s Swarms and Grubs, and some more stuff which I can’t really come up with right now…
PC Spec:
Core i5 3470, GTX 650 Ti, 4GB RAM….
Thanks in advance :)
If you’re going strait power, you’re gonna need to spec into death shroud to maximize your damage. Do something like 30/10/0/0/30, picking up:
1.life blast grants might
2.Axe training
3.dhuumfire
4.crits give 1% lifeforce
5.life blast pierces and causes vulnerability
6.death shroud cooldown/death shroud drains slower (your choice)
7.50% crit chance in death shroud
bring the well of suffering, signet of spite, blood is power, consume conditions, and lich form.
these traits, berzerker gear, axe+focus/dagger+warhorn is pretty much the definitive direct damage build. You want to spend as much time as possible in death shroud. Sadly, direct damage necros lack a lot in the AOE/cleave department. This is why warriors are currently king in this cleave Direct damage meta. The best way to supplement this is to try and target the enemy in the back with life blast, and then position as many enemies as possible between you and him. This should allow you to deal as much damage as possible with your life blast.
That’s exactly my build, Only I picked Close To Death instead of Dhuumfire. I think it’s more fitting for a Powermancer and just plain better… Why did you pick Dhuumfire?
So basically it’s only that good for sPvP? because sounds like it’s only good for 1v1 :3
I personally would like to try a 30/20/0/0/20 build, though I really don’t know one, and I mostly WvW, I don’t like sPvP that much [Running 30/10/0/0/30 Powermancer]
Do you have any suggestions about a build for WvW? [And some demonstration videos would be nice…]
Btw I should probably mention I’m only playing Necro for about a month now, so I’m not familiar with all builds…
I continouslly see in these forums people talking about how OPed Terror trait is
I really don’t get the fuss about it… Honestly, I might consider it a bit lacking even
Our fears only last 1~1.5 Seconds, and we have like 3~4 of those with pretty long CDs … Terror probably does like what? 800 damage a second? I don’t see how it’s that good …
You’re welcome to enlighten me
Siphoned Power, Spite tree, 25 minor trait. I’ve never gotten this trait. Yay I’m about to die, and now I’ll have 35 extra power and condition dmg, super!
You’re forgetting that you’re a Necro
25% Health—>Blood Is Power—>Death Shroud—> More Might via Reaper’s Might trait
Thats a lot of might ….
I don’t play a ranger, but just out of curiosity, whats the problem with Rangers?
To me they seem really useful and powerful…
[I do agree with the Axe thing though… why give Ranger an Axe anyway? Thats just stupid]
Minions Hp only incrase in pve, not pvp or wvsw.
This requires testing… Usually, PvE and WvW share the same rules
Anyhow, yea, you’re right, the patch was nice but didn’t do much at all…
I was really looking forward for a viable Vampiric build, though they simply did nothing >.>"
Still, Necro has lots of different ways to play and he’s fun as hell. don’t think I’d roll another class just because of the patch
Loco, he was obviously referencing 30/20/0/0/20 which yes is still OP.
Other than that, no Necros aren’t UP. We’re okay, still in need of improvement but hardly UP. Its just harder to fit the other builds into a cookie cutter comp, you need a bit more thought.
Since I don’t know this 30/20/0/0/20 build, and honestly I don’t really see how it comes together so well, may I ask what are you talking about? Build link or something?
I really don’t get this system
I end up being torn between guilds
I have this 1 guild which I was representing all the time and it was filled with nice people I got to know, though the problem is that it did nothing. So I went ahead to look for some guilds for WvW and occasional dungeons and whatnot. Ended up with 4 guilds, each one asking why am I not representing all the time or constantly coming to events… It’s exhausting
I just really don’t get why it’s there… can anyone please explain so I might make a better use of this?
Since we’re on the subject of Vampiric traits, I wanted to ask: How good is the Vampiric Rituals Trait? because I heard it’s Siphon is pretty low…
As a Vampiric Wellomancer I’m still struggling weather I should use:
1. Bloodthirst + Vampiric Precision + Ritual Mastery
2. Bloodthirst + Vampiric Precision + Vampiric Rituals
3. Bloodthirst + Ritual Mastery + Vampiric Rituals
What do you guys use?
Somewhat finale build: http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=V10;3kHVF0G4sJ-K0;9;4T9-T-17B5;3147;9;8kKcFqW90u [Thinking of switching between signet of spite and Well Of Power occasionally for the stun break [60 CD on a Stun breaker is useless…. =.="]
Also altered Consume Conditions from WoB for the condition removal and better CD
I need some feedback about it, and again, not sure which gear to use…. Thought about Knight’s, but I hate that it mains Toughness :\
Perhaps party Knight’s and part Berserker’s …. if so, which parts? >< I’m confused here
Crashes, Crashes everywhere… =.= I can barely play WvWs anymore………
Can anyone help?
I really like the changes you’ve made between your two builds ~
So far I’ve been running this: http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=V10;4IVF0G4wJ-K0;9;49T-T-0;015A;117B;9;8Fpc6LW10t
Here’s my new build:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=V10;4I-J0G47J-K0;9;4T9-T-17B5;314B;9;8kKcFqW90dThere is more synergy in your traits and utilities, however looking at all the support you have in your util bar I was expecting to see a Staff. I would switch out Vampiric Precision or Bloodthirst for Ritual Mastery when you’re using 3 wells, and I would suggest against fully kitting out in Berserker gear.
Have you read Ascii’s Wellomancer thread? He can be a bit abrasive occasionally but there are some great discussions that address traits, playstyles, survivability, and even Elites for large scale front line Necromancers. If nothing else, it is different from Nemesis’ playstyle.
Now I have xP
I can’t say that I want to play his build. It’s closer to my intentions, yet it’s still not there :\
For once, it’s traited into staff. Which I completely despise >< I really want AoE damage and Crowd Control, but I think the Staff’s skill are awful personally and I hate using it
Which gear would you recommend then? Knight’s Perhaps? Soldier’s?
Made some tweaks… how about this: http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=V10;4IFH0G4sJ-K0;9;4T9-T-17B5;3147;9;8kKcFqW90J
[Still not sure about using Spectral Armor or Walk, and using Consume Conditions or Well Of Blood. I guess I just have to play that for a while and determine
]
What do you think?
As for the changes in the 15th, I’m really looking forward to them :P but they didn’t really detail that so I can’t really consider that now
Thanks for the advice, I will definitely try out the flesh golem as it sounds sweet. For d/d I guess I really appreciate the extra condition removal and blind that it provides, and dagger 5 just looks awesome… Not the best answer so I will reconsider focus as I really dislike warhorn 5. Again thanks!
First of all, I recommend using Flesh golem as well. I personally like it since it’s on most of the time and by that it has a few benefits like Taking aggro from you, ability to know down enemies and of course the extra damage is always nice.
Plague is more condition based so it wouldn’t fit you imo, but note that it’s an awesome move for WvW no matter what
As for your weapons, I too recommend Dagger/Warhorn… I don’t understand why would you dislike WH 5, it looks similar to D 5, the swiftness is great to move around and constant cripple is just fantastic, it’s the main reason why it works so great with Dagger: Because they’re both melee weapons.
Focus and Dagger Off-hand are both ranged weapons.
I can see how focus would be good for both, especially since it gives you regeneration, yet OH Dagger doesn’t fit MH Dagger at all :\
Good luck
Your build is weird
You start as condition person, then you add wells (power tool) and finally even minions. Ofc you can play like that if you want to, but since you are seeking help I would say check necro tutorials that Nemesis had put up:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Necromancer-tutorials/firstGenerally people think that: scepter & OH dagger are condition weapons(bleeds). Axe/MH dagger are power weapons.
If you like conditions I would say try his fear build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNArYWjMat7xbea87JAJFPDd0DiDOZKFqnOA-jkyAYLEk2gGpFgUlgRggoCI5wioxWRLiGr6GTHTEVLEwi1A-w
Video about it: http://youtu.be/eUhUBwdUTBMOr you can be super tanky zerk frontliner with this Abomination build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQQQNAodWjMaV6haea87JAZGY/80DuHXc4D5C-jwxAoLioRyBIFaIaZvioxWOLiGryGT9SEVLEggxA-e
Video (he talks it as pve build, but I use it in wvw): http://youtu.be/y_bIqwtB-fwOr you can be DS power necro (I play this only in PvE, but some people say that they roam with this. Roamer may need to swap gear a bit.) This build uses DS a lot, so you may not like this (tho damage done is high): http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQRBHbhG2IjWle6mxGDfCB6x7VLOTUBkh6h7sOfIA-jwxAY/ioRTECNVYIaJvioxWcLiGryGT5SEVLDg+YA-e
Video: http://youtu.be/cG5fqtiP2x0Edit: watch the videos to get the point of builds.
It is not enough just to have right weapons/gear/traits, you need to understand why.
I’m aware of his builds and I sit for hours and listen to them, though honestly I didn’t like the playstyle of any of them… I’m looking for something else, I’m drawn mostly to vampiric and wells aspects of the Necro. Ofcourse, I do take a lot of his advice.
You’re right actually, my pursuit for conditions was dumb. That might be why I felt so uneffective
Here’s my new build:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=V10;4I-J0G47J-K0;9;4T9-T-17B5;314B;9;8kKcFqW90d
Probably with Berserker’s gear…
As for the Elite, I don’t think that the minion breaks the build. Sure, he doesn’t fit that well, but it’s nice to always have him out there, especially when he provides me a knockdown. I’d rather this than a Form I’d probably use once every 15~20 minutes in unusual fights
So, what do you think?
(edited by SrebX.6498)
I’ve recently started playing a lot of WvW, though seems that I can barely take on any people and generally I don’t feel like much of a help in the group
So I need some WvW advising…
1. Build: So far I’ve been running this: http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=V10;4IVF0G4wJ-K0;9;49T-T-0;015A;117B;9;8Fpc6LW10t
Trying to make a condition build while having Axe/Focus on swap for Siege and occasional fights. I haven’t tried to be a Wellmancer, but I was simply drawn to Wells for the awesome AoE
2. Gear: Thought rabid yet I’m not sure…
What would you use?
3. Fights.: I feel like I’m dying too fast while not killing fast enough and just wasting my skills
I’d be happy for rotation suggestions or pretty much any advice.
4. DS: While I know the Necro community loves the DS and uses it a lot, personally it didn’t grow on me… I know it should be very useful, but the damage on #4 and #5 feels a bit lacking to me… I must be doing something wrong, please enlighten me, because I find myself using it only as a “O kitten” button before Death, and even then it doesn’t save me that much ><"
Apologies for the length and quantity of questions… I’m still a newbie
Thanks in advance
Edit:
Please see the last comment of mine, updated the build to this: http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=V10;3kHVF0G4sJ-K0;9;4T9-T-17B5;3147;9;8kKcFqW90u [Will be switching between SIgnet of Spite and Well Of Power]
Still need advice about about gear
(edited by SrebX.6498)
So far my Necromancer is lvl 33 and I’m loving him, he’s definitely the character for me and I’m having lots of fun
Problem is: Underwater combat
Looks like many of the Necro’s best abilities cannot be used underwater… Flesh Golem, wells, Spectral wall and so on… As a leveling Condition-Minionmancer, What would you recommend for Underwater set up?
I’ve actually been thinking about that a lot lately. It’s the main reason I kind of refrain from WvW with my Necro….
Maybe using an Axe solves this? the 1 & 2 skills are proper for siegie…. right?
can anyone share their experiences?
I recently fell in love with the Necromancer as well :P so far I’ve leveled him to 23 and it’s going great, I’m gonna stick with him till 80 :P
I tried pretty much all set ups, and personally what works for me best is condition built Minionmancer with Scepter/Dagger + Staff.
It’s got awesome CC, I’m wrecking everything and having a blast. I think you should try it as well :P
Try this until lvl 20:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNArY2iEa16V6IgoCED
And then:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNArYWjEa16Vaqb07IgoCED [Of course Flesh golem won’t be added till lvl 30]
And try to find Malign or Precise gear for this build [Why Precise and not Mighty? because 5 points into curses give criticals a chance to blood]
I’ve asked tons of people, and everyone says to go with pure might and power gear in the early lvls and I get why, but personally it didn’t work as well as conditions for me. Might builds lack Crowed Control which is really important when you’re leveling, since you’ll be most likely PvEing.
Good luck mate :P
Hey, I’m a newbie at Guild Wars 2, been playing for about 2 weeks… My Guardian is lvl 57 and I have a question
Eventually, I’d like to run some kind of Regen/burst damage with my Guardian and I have no idea how does that work or what should I do with Guardian
I think Guardian regen build or dependant on Altruistic Healing trait, is that true? if so how does that work?
I’d love some Guardian explanation from the more in-depth guys here [Video prefered, if there is one
].
Thanks in advance
I have been playing GW2 for almsot 2 weeks now.
I’ve been going back and forth through pretty much all characters so far [Created about 10+ characters overall >< This game put me through an identity crisis… xD don’t ask why]
Anyhow, I’ve finally decided to stick with my Guardian. So far he’s lvl 34.
I’ve been trying to set up how will my build look at end game, so I’ll have a goal…
This is what I have so far:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQFABlYgKC33RLcioSR8uHmCMmxrHU0hJE
Purpose: Mainly PvE and dungeons. Perhaps some WvW.
Main weapon: Greatsword. No doubt there. I freakin’ love it.
Second weapon: Can’t decide. Scepter+Shield is good for some extra DPS and supporting the group, Hammer can be really good too, Staff is also useful for swiftness and Empower, though I really can’t see any use to it beyond that ><
Utilities: I’ll probably constantly be changing them to fit the situation at hand, though I’d like your opinions about what’s practical at what situation. I currently see “Save Yourselves” as a must have
and what I put in that link is all around PvE utilities
Elite: Can’t make up my mind…. I need help there too [I’m a Charr btw, so there’s Racial skills…]
Traits:
I’m pretty confident on my traits there. Just one other thing is bugging me, In the 3rd valor slot I’m considering taking Altruistic Healing [Applying a boon to allies heal you], so I wanted to ask, how does that work?
Does it heal for each boon I apply to an ally? Does it heal for each ally? Does it heal for each ally AND boon? How practical is that in combat?
I’d love for some feedback,
Thanks
I just created a new character and I’m trying to represent my guild with him, but nothing happens when I click Represent somewhat…
By purchasing the heroic edition you get some kind of starter pack, with these items:
Suit of Legacy Armor*
Mithril Box*
10 Experience Boosters*
link: https://buy.guildwars2.com/en/
So after I’ve tried 4~5 different characters and deleted some, I’ve decided on a main.
Is there a way to get these items back? I claimed it once and didn’t really use anything… That character is deleted anyway >.>"
Well, looks like you put a lot into that guide, and the videos
It’s great that someone takes the time to teach and help newbies like
Thank you kindly!
Hello, I’m Dean, and I’m new to Guild Wars 2
Actually, I’m quite new to MMOs in general…
I kinda need some guidance and help as I discover of Guild Wars 2, so if anyone’s got the patient and knowledge, please add me in-game
