I’m actually going to agree with you on this one. Some of us really couldn’t give a flying anything about PPT, there’s a lot more to Wv3 than number ratings, there are also such things as poor winners. I can’t say I’ve ever set foot in Wv3 because of “OMG PPT!”.

it’s quite simple really: tPvP is meant to be a competitive, fair (by the nature of tournaments) environment in which to display you and your teams’ skills . best-of series are also meant to foster such a competitive, fair environment. they occur absolutely everywhere in competitions. is this really something that needs to be debated?

The best kind of PvPer is the kind who can respond to any given situation, not one who requires the training wheels to learn their opponents movements BEFORE they know how the respond.

I tPvP daily, I fail to see how best of five has any relevence to tPvP, there are no best of five rounds, there is only one and during that single round, you may fight one person once or many, including in 1vx situations whereby you have to respond with your skill and knowledge of your chosen class – THAT is what a tPvPer relies on, not a fallback on best of for fear of losing, but to rise to that challenge of unknowing and still finding a way to outplay and come back on top. In a single round.

I’m feeling too many people are equating wining to fun. Even when TC was getting stomped on, some of us made our own fun, it’s all down to what you are there for and what you want to achieve. It’s definitely demoralizing to some to see a low PPT for your own server and I’ve witnessed many a time where a considerable chunk of the populace has just simply given up for the week while others keep driving away.

Cloak and Dagger: The player can no longer use this ability stack stealth by attacking WvW walls.

This is incorrect, I’m still able to actively C&D walls in Wv3, I was doing it last night to evade a zerg leaving a keep I was running by.

Heh, I love doing stuff like that around HS spamming fools. Sometimes it’s fun to let them HS into you and C&D off them only to watch them fly miles off target.

Massively dissapointed with the KN mesmer in KNBL who decided to teleport hack while downed several times across the map as 3 of us litterally chased your downed corpse from Heroes all the way to Redlake before we lost sight. Does a character death really mean that much to you to avoid it in such a cheap and grimey way?

It’s also been said that a lot of the new faces have been coming for map exploration completion, but it seems you want to make up whatever you like to discredit our server and attempt to make yours look better. Please try harder.

As for the first comment, the core Wv3 players won’t give up, we’ll keep coming at you no matter what the odds are and do what we can. Fairweather players are present on all servers and you won’t see them unless you’re winning, however, our numbers have not once been as low as yours this week no matter how much we’ve taken a beating.

It’s a shame people are so worried about securing coverage for their servers that they became lazy players. It’s also a shame that WvW would be a whole lot more interesting if the player base had not try to condense itself into two tiers, and perhaps was more equally distributed amongst all the tiers.

It’s a competitive part of the game, what makes you think it’s any difference to sports where people want to be in the top teams or in fact other games where people want to be top of the leaderboards? You can’t be that naive.

Sorry to break it to you, but this is a vacation week for us, a lot of our players are relaxing and bringing alts into Wv3 – I’ve seen more underlevelled this week than I have in months. Every server has their share of lazy players, but they generally follow the zerg, lets not pretend anyone ikittenerg on any server has much at all to do with single player skill, nor does being in a roaming party or solo mean skill x9000.

But people gonna seek glory…

I guess glory seeking for Mag is coming on the forums telling everyone that they always win and have more skill whilst maintaining a lofty last place? I see what you’re saying now, thanks Seriously though, we can all blow smoke, it’s just that yours is starting to clear and looking more like laughable bunk and bitterness because your words haven’t lived up to the hype.

My experience with TC has been that when our zerg encountered their zerg, those two zergs would battle it out, but slowly the whole freaking TC server would join in, until our zerg was sufficiently overwhelmed. Or, if our zerg wiped TC’s, there would soon (within 15 minutes) be a response by an even bigger zerg. I assume those numbers were pulled off of other objectives.

This has made the turtleguuma style of play pretty much useless, as we could not hold things long enough. And it has made every victory a pyrrhic victory at best. So… It’s not been as much fun as playing against FA, where we were able to dig in and maintain some fantasy of control.

We do have a decent response when the numbers are up, usually we’ll have scouts tracking zergs and calling our positions, when our zerg goes out to clash with it, they pretty much put out an APB!

It’s really not a chip. It’s just an expression of how painful this week has been. From my experience, whenever we take something, we don’t have time to get the first upgrade built before there is an overwhelming number of TC there. I’ve been blaming it on coverage, but I wonder if there isn’t just a really strong serverwide cross-map responsiveness. Truthfully, I think that Mag has a lesson we can learn from that, both in how we play and in how we handle a server that plays like that. :-) In any event… The impression that a lot of us currently have of TC are the times that we’ve beaten more even odds, only to be rolled by larger odds later. Not that it makes you evil. It just makes the battles seriously distasteful.

Disatasteful how? T1 is a reported zerg fest, T2 was pretty much the same when we were there for 3 weeks, anyone roaming couldn’t move 20 feet without bumping into a zerg zomewhere and when we took something, the response was heavily stacked against us. That’s just the nature of the beast, it’s not the most fun thing to play against, but that’s simply how it is and how Wv3 was designed. Are players not supposed to respond? Should commanders not use whatever resources they have at their disposal?

I wouldn’t be too quick to assume that. We got stomped pretty had because BG was dominating the entrire field and were a T1 server in T2, now the match up will be pretty interesting with FA and Kain.

I’m kind of amazed that in the latter pages of this thread that Mag are complaining about bad sportsmanship or lack of class. Slightly different attitude from the start of the match. You reap what you sow, you came out of the gates with an attitude, an attitude which clearly irked so many members that even Elmer Fudd came down and dubbed this week Mag Season. Now it’s just excuses and TC this and TC that, sweethearts, people have been turning up underlevelled because that’s how seriously you’re being taken as a threat.

With so many forum warriors and people seeming to think it’s ok to beat their chest and others condoning, why complain so hard about people emote spamming? Isn’t that the same kind of childish behaviour? Sounds a bit impotent to me.

We won’t be back in T2 for at least 2 weeks, I’m hoping no longer than 3 static.
I predict that half way through next week TC will go into full blown PVE mode for the most part due to the boredom as we have done in the past with this type of match up.
If that happens it could go on longer.

And I don’t want people from DB and Mag thinking I’m dissing them.It’s just the nature of the game and match up system.

I think 3 is about right too, I also agree with your assessment, our people tend to get bored when a match up lasts longer than 2 weeks, declaring it stale and numbers dwindle until enthusiasm is restored on reset night with new opponents, then it’s out of the gates and running!

It’s all of our players that couldn’t handle T2 that are now needing to do this kind of crummy thing to feel better and dominant in WvW when they get a kill, don’t worry about them. When I see them I lecture them, I’m sure others on TC do the same, but it’s hard controlling all these people that never WvWed in T2 due to it being tough.

Depending on how things go up in T2, you guys might be here for 3 weeks at least. SoS is in 3rd, but not exactly being blown out, so they’re going to have to fall one rank at a time.

I’m worried that SoS will end up a 2.5 server. T2 will shake out and KN/FA/TC will have fun there, but I’m guessing the T3/4 situation will be exactly the same as it is now, just with SoS in that steamrolling green position instead of FA / TC. But with the inherent volatility of a falling server, anything can still happen.

I don’t disagree, I’m not quite sure why people are assuming we’ll be back in T2 by the end of the week; I think people were also expecting FA to move straight back down as well.

If Mag ends up falling into T4, will that make you the out of place server stomping the other two servers?

AoN are our bros, they used to be on Maguuma (and Ehmry Bay and Fort Aspenwood and I don’t remember what else). They pretty much always run groups of that size and are really good at it

They were super impressive, no doubt about that. A friend and I tried engaging them several times, but they stuck together and really brought it to us forcing us to back off repeatedly and try from a different angle, even when I did manage to stomp one of them (just one…) it didn’t take very long for them to get him back on his feet and put the pressure back on. Serious respect.

This. My fellow maguumians and I frequently stay to defend an objective. And when the three of us get slaughtered by their 30, I am always jumped on by no less than 3 people.

When roaming, I try to show them the error of their ways by taking them to downed state, then leaving. I don’t think it’s working.

This is becoming a staple part of any match up thread. Someone will always bring up how one side is jumping on them and someone always apologises for it knowing full well that this kind of childish behaviour takes place on all servers, including yours, so it looks like we’ll all just have to drink a nice hot cup of ‘deal with it’.

I had a grand old time on your BL yesterday, we smashed a lot of your players grouped up (we had 3 and were outnumbered), we killed several of you many times, you all kept coming back – which is good. Eventually, I got downed, the same players we’d already destroyed several times over pulled the same dance nonsense. To me, it’s comical, but hey, let them celebrate after being outplayed for so long.

If you see an emote from me it’ll be a salute or bow after a fight if it was fun or you’re not garbage. The only time I jump anything is if the guy I’m chasing is doing the jumpy jumpy ’can’t catch me’ stuff, so I’ll jump after them grawl style

To DB, who are the AoN guys? Honestly, those guys were great, 6 of them broke into Mag Bay when we held it, I think we had maybe 10 guys on the map at the time and I repeatedly watched as both Mag and TC challenged them, only to be utterly destroyed. You guys were working exceptionally well together.

I am certainly hoping SoS has lost enough players to be a solid T3 server but not so much to slide very far. T3 could use a smaller pop server for better match ups. Any server that can fill up every map on reset night doesn’t belong in current T3.

The problem you’re having with us, is that because we pulled out a clear lead at the start of the match up, it attracts all the bandwagoners and map explorers flooding the maps. These are the very same people who are nowhere to be seen when we’re in T2 and on the defensive or in fact ever, unless we’re winning, which fills the field with a lot of fairweather warriors.

I don’t think TC belongs in T3 with you guys, the problem is, I don’t think we belong in T2 either, we’re in that medium phase where we’re too big for one tier to give them any real fun and not quite formidable enough yet for T2, we’re getting there but for the time being we’re stuck with each other.

If your people only cared to win Wv3 by volume of participants then TC has done well for itself when you are scaled back to T3. Not so well at higher tiers.

Clearly what you don’t understand (or do, but are deciding to just be facitious), is that recruitment is about filling in gaps in coverage which we certainly do have. T1 & T2 we got broken on because we didn’t have people around during certain time slots, it has nothing to do with winning by numbers.

I think it doesn’t matter what anyone says or how valid it is, you guys seem to want to formulate your own stubborn opinions and act like you have some higher ground, that’s fine because that’s a pretty small molehill you’re standing on in the first place.

My point is… fighting you guys is frustrating because we can repeatedly kill you, but you just keep coming. A lot of our regulars and really demoralized from months of bad matchups (BP/DR, BP/DR, IOJ/YB, FA/DB, KN/DB, FA/DB, FA/DB, CD/EB – I think that’s the right order) and now getting demolished by a very large zerg of players we feel better than has really broken a lot of people.

It is likely the CPUs, RAM and bandwidth are getting hammered during these fights which is why culling was created as it helps curb this issue. At some point even tricks likely culling, AoE restrictions, etc cannot resolve the issue and only help prevent it from becoming worse.

We’ve been witnessing lag on skills in SM when all 3 forces are fighting regardless of culling mechanics, it’s -always- been this way for us when SM turn into the alamo. Lack of culling wouldn’t cause this issue, I would imagine it’s more about how many players are attempting to input skills at once during such a huge fight and sending too much data to the server than it can process during that point in time, either way, it’s a problem.

You know, it’s funny, I’ve done a lot of dungeons with BG peeps and in fact (like most I’m sure) with other servers in general, and I’ve always felt this unwritten rule of “dont’ mention Wv3” in the same manner as Fawlty Tower’s joke of “Don’t mention the war!”. Funny thing is, nobody ever talks about it even when they ask what servers people are from.
