1. Maybe if they could change the score board to reflect how much you helped your team instead of having a meaningless personal score.

Only problem with this is that personal score is currently tallied in the case of a tie-break situation.

2. Somehow allow people to vote for players who they think contributed the most and give these players extra rewards. (Not sure how this one would turn out, but I think it would prevent a lot of trolling/ arguments and make people want to play well and improve!)

This could be good. There was a system put in place in FFXIV for dungeons (yeah I know it’s not pvp) where at the end people could vote to give commendations to who they thought put in the most work and contributed towards the team. Each player could give a commendation. Commendations could then be spent at a vendor for unique items.

3. Prevent more than double class stacking in solo queues (you cannot have more than two of the same profession on each team.) Because lets face it, it gets pretty annoying fighting 4 Hambows (insert meta build here) every game. Even if it caused longer queue times for the people playing these classes (which it shouldn’t unless a class is REALLY REALLY overplayed/ op.) I think this would encourage people to branch out and try something new.

I’m not so sure about this, you limit people playing their favorite classes and I think it would be more discouraging than encouraging to play.

Becuase you’re playing Hot Join games which have a limit on how much contribution goes towards reward tracks. You’ll need to solo or team q to get more progress.

I used to think, “Karka Shell – awesome, he’s been at that event!” or “Fervid Censer – cool, so jelly, I wish they gave us a chance to reacquire it!” and so on; and now that I simply exchanged hoarded mats for tokens and got those skins which people were receiving for achieving things (even if those things were trivial) during a special event, and I can actually receive all of them if I simply spend more gold, I feel like those skins lost their charm.

Human psychology… a weird beast.

The skins lost their charm at the same time as everyone and their dog acquired them from the event and you saw everyone wearing them, there’s no prestige in that.

Out of all the events, the only thing I was really happy to have achieved was beating Liadri the first time around and getting the mini, it’s good that they’ve fixed a lot of aspects about the fight this time around, but that fight was hard when it was originally introduced, so I was glad to have done it back then.

What it boils down to is that they simply couldn’t counter it and it hurt their poor little feelings because they learned today that they are not invincible.

I think it’s pretty funny when you win a pretty crucial 1v1 match with TG and they go into /s and say something to the affect of “LOL you used TG in a 1v1, gl waiting 180s to use it again”

…and you end up not finding any reasonable situation to use it again for another 180s anyway.

Oh, and it’s even better when the person taunting you dropped supply crate and still lost.

You won’t make any gold from Gauntlet in the same way as we were able to last year, they’ve completely removed the gold rewards and replaced them with token bags. The only potential gold-maker from Gauntlet now is the slight chance at getting items from the chance bags, but drop rates are disgustingly low.

So I expect that once the novelty of the items wears off those skins will be as special as before.

The novelty seems to wear off as soon as a new backpiece or whatever skin is rewarded in place of the previous one.

I think in this instance, the reasoning is most likely because of the China launch and them obviously missing all of LS season 1, this is just an opinion however.

She’s actually a lot easier now down to them removing the top of the dome and her AoEs being so much more visible.

So much easier than when I beat her the last time around and the AoEs are much more visible. It took me 2 attempts because I was playing guarded expecting a harder fight and wasn’t aggressive enough so ran out of time.

It’s a good idea, I know you are casual, but playing other professions just to understand them better in a PvP setting doesn’t mean you have to spend months mastering them, but it can provide a good eye opener.

Learning all the professions will make you a better player indeed. Especially the squish ones that require you to dodge or look for particular moves or die.

I always find the best way to learn how to counter a profession I have any problem with is to play that profession and learn how it works.

well, swapping out is only possible if one is able to play a few professions efficiently in a tournament game (solo arena / team arena) so for a casual player for myself who believes that i can only play warrior effectively in team arena, swapping out professions is not something i can manage at the time being.

Practice with other professions in hotjoin to start with, a lot of people HJ to test builds and such. Is this the same for the rest of your team/friends?

perhaps i am just afraid of being the dead weight of my team, or causing the team to lose etc. i did play minion master in some team arena games before but decided to stick with playing hambow warrior after that.

Everyone has to start somewhere, you’re only deadweight if you don’t try, don’t learn and don’t improve on anything and just play every game ignorantly.

i did try out other professions in hotjoin 5 vs 5 to practice the builds though. perhaps i should just practice more.

Definitely practice more, not just on your own, but also with your team to better mesh together, learn to compliment each others playstyles and also figure out your tactics as a team.

I understand what you keep saying about the experienced teams bit and this is something you cannot change, I’m trying to give you different viewpoints on what you can change – no, you’re not going to suddenly win that match by having some startling revelations against those kinds of teams, but you should fare a lot better than 500-0.

and the other team took quite some time to swap out 3 professions against our team so yeah basically the other team swapped in professions that hard countered us.

i like it better in guild wars 1 where we cannot swap professions before a match starts.

That’s a pretty common tactic, we do it as well depending on what we are up against so that we can improve our chances, it’s something I would encourage your own team to do as well to prevent getting completely rolled.

just because you did not experience it personally yourself, does not mean it will not happen to other people.

what i am trying to say is, when 500 – 0 situation happens, the fault does not always necessary lie at the team with the 0 score. the match making system should not have paired a team with 100 games of experience against a team with 2000 games of experience.

Sure, some of it is about bad MMR with who you get put up against, however, it IS the team who is at fault if they can gain no personal score and not even a single point in 500. I understand morale as much as anyone, but I still find it incredible that no points were scored anywhere. It makes me wonder what the team was doing, whether there was even a plan or any adaptation(s) of that plan or improvisation rather than filtering onto points full of enemies instead of attempting to make an intelligent play.

it is already unfortunate that they end up with a team score of 0, to be deprived of any personal score is rubbing more salt into a huge gaping wound.

That is the fault of every player on that team. They couldn’t cap home point? They couldn’t neutralize a single point? Sneak to an enemy capped point while everyone else was getting bodied? Kill a single player? Raise a single player? Depending on map fire a treb shot? Get an NPC? etc etc

I really don’t see what your point is here. My friends and I have played against people like Good Fights, of course we lost, but we still made points and it wasn’t 500-0 either. You or your team need to be doing some pretty mind-boggling things to actually score nothing at all.

It’s the same for the Mad King outfit.

They are probably classed as crafting materials because Runes of Holding are used to craft bags/boxes for inventory.

They removed ranks, they could remove visible score, but people would still find things to flame and shout about.

It’s great both talking wvw and spvp; combine it with strength runes and berserker gear and you’ll see what the hype’s about.
I’d recommend Ogre runes with exotic armor as a cheap alternative to Strength/Ascended by the way.
Now as to the post above, Pack runes are not good in my opinion because you already have a very decent fury uptime and 100% swiftness using steal and dodges.

I like doing this a lot, it’s also super embarrasing for the mesmer who moa’d you.

Sometimes an inexperienced mesmer will use it as a panic button when they are at low health, again, peck them to death.

He doesn’t need a US account, he can just transfer.. I live in the UK and play on a US server, started off in EU and switched early on.

Staff is a horrible weapon for any class in PVE unless you are just tagging mobs in open world events. About the only one that it makes a semi decent weapon for is Ele but there are much better weapons like scepter/dagger or scepter/focus. PVPwise I cant speak there but from what I’ve heard there are better choices in PVP for classes that can use staff as well. So I’m not really sure why The Legend is so expensive other than it is one of the nicer looking legendaries, not too gaudy yet noticeable.

PvP it depends on the map, Kyhlo for example is great for glass staff, it’s very common to see Ele’s at the top of the Clock Tower AoEing down on the point quite effectively as allies and enemies attempt to take control.
