Whoa, is this a combat skin? I must have it. (See guild name in sig….)
to play mesmer over other classes. Every single other class seems superior. More damage, traits that don’t depend on clones, and easier gameplay. We’ve been damaged to the point that we aren’t effective. Five minutes with a guardian and I could tell you two things.
GS is OP and mesmer is just too hard to play by comparison.
I do well as a mesmer. But I know that with any other class I’ll do much better. I still think that the better players play mes. But they have to work harder at it. Mesmer is tough to play well. Why bother? They’ve nerfed us from OP to UP and we can see more nerfs on the horizon. Why bother with it when you can rofl stomp everyone with a guardian warrior or thief? Can someone tell me why I’m wrong? Or am I?
The issue is placing orders for account bound items. I wouldn’t recommend it, one day it may complete…
Best gold sink. Ever.
One time events should never happen. I’d rather have a fight then a chest than an apology and a chest in the mail…..
Just saying.
But I’m glad Anet decided to do this. I appreciate the effort and the intent. Cheers.
Ouch. That’s terrible.
People still run from me all the time, even after the nerfs. This makes me lol.
She was my favorite character in the game period. I was sad when it happened and kind of angry. Why take away the only awesome character?
I wouldn’t say I’m elite, but I do roam alone and have managed to take down 2 to 3 opponents at once. But I’m a mesmer and we’re OP because we have portal. ;P
I often see warrior running around in small groups too. But, for the most part it’s the four you mentioned.
Yeah, whenever FA zerg rolls over my guardian only coz I refused to bow down to their might and back off, I see atleast 3 dancing/laughing emotes as if anyone of them are skillful. Hell all I see is atleast 5 thieves doing nothing but their elite kittentorm thing till I die and then they /laugh or /dance. Yeah, so much for skill. Who are we kitten here!
I don’t know, I mean skill and class aren’t the same thing. What you’re describing is classless, but it doesn’t imply they lack skill. You have to get them one on one to check their skill. But that being said, I’ve taken to calling enemy players medals. You scatter them from the herd and you’re almost guaranteed a kill. Hence, medals.
But then there’s that occasional match that is challenging and fun. Somewhere in between rofl stomping a solo player and being rofl stomped by a zerg -that’s what I hunt for.
Nah, I’m alone. Just saying.
I never run with a zerg, and I see a lot of people who also avoid it. I don’t think that we should assume anything about players in a zerg though. Being in a zerg doesn’t imply anything about skill. Just like the fact that I run alone says nothing about my abilities. Ultimately what matters is results. Turning a camp by yourself or taking a keep with a horde. Doesn’t really matter as long as it gets done.
That’s kinda the mentality I get from TC as a whole.
I don’t think we’re that zergy. No more than any other server we’ve fought in the past….. I see a lot of people not running with the zerg now. Ever since I left it, I’ve met a lot of others like me that prefer skirmishes.
They can be dodged….. assuming the enemy renders in the first place.
back the orbs of power they would revamp it’s benefits. Might I suggest the following, have orbs provide no benefit to the leading server. Have it provide the same stat benefits to the trailing servers. The leading server wants the orbs if only to deny the enemy it’s statistical advantage.
I have an additional suggestion that is not so straightforward. Have the power benefit the orbs provide drop off as the players travel away from the orbs. While near the orb (say within 2 keeps distance) the orb holding side would get full benefits of the orb bonus. But as they move away from the orbs location the bonus decreases. This would encourage strategic movement of the orb around the map. It follows that orbs should be made storeable in forts as well as keeps. This would allow the orb holding side to gain a statistical advantage at the risk of having their orb attacked in a less secure location.
I also think that my new proposed orb dynamic would be well placed in the Eternal Battlegrounds as well as in the borderlands.
Anyway, my humble opinions and suggestions. I’d be interested to hear the feedback of other players as well. Cheers.
I’m all for a warrior nerf. Most OP class second only to thief. We sissy mesmers and our OP portal, our dodge-able, blind-able, block-able phatasams, and our whopping 5K crits welcome a warrior nerf.
Let’s not even mention the warrior’s “Screw being downed” downed skill….

I’ll be happy to use another weapon. Let me just take all my work towards sunrise and convert it…. oh wait. I can’t. >.<
Not to mention those that already have their GS legendary.
That’s very well put, Mere Image. There’s no reason not to play warrior over any other class. We should just all roll warrior and let the mesmer die. Hell, everyone should roll warrior and we just play Warrior Vs. Warrior. But I’ve been saying that for a long time. Each patch warrior is untouched or buffed. While we get smacked with the nerf bat.
Nah, people will just quit mesmer. No one is stuck with it. You can always roll warrior.
Stealth nerfs are better, if people notice and hate it and their post patch QA testing determines it to be broken they can just call it a bug. But I’m sure that’s not what happened here.
No, Jon said it was always there, but we weren’t noticing the delay. Said it was there since BWE2.
I just don’t know why they don’t save us all time and just come out and say “Roll a warrior.” I’m surprised that they can push this on us with a straight face.
Fyi, the delay on first attack has been present since BWE2. It is there for balance reasons to give enemies a moment to react to the powerful summon.
Ah, so we don’t need phantasms being blocked by blind/Aegis/Dodge then. Or are you saying they all get two chances to dodge/prevent our phantasms and their attacks?
FYI, I think that’s broken.
I’m not surprised that this happened. Devs seem to only test warrior anyway. Do you have anyone that actually plays mesmer?
Most of the people that say such things have never played a mesmer. It’s not that the class was that OP, it was more that the class attracted the better players. Put an average mesmer player behind a truly op class (Warrior or thief), give him some time to get proficent, he’ll rofl stomp everyone.
Truth hurts. Rather than learn to play they just cry for nerfs. Hence, we’re brought down to average through handicaps.
Yet I get the lovely “Obstructed” message. Really, how much more of a LoS do I need? Their toes? Am I targeting their toes? I can’t even summon IBerserker on an oil build site anymore. I can summon on the oil, but not the build site. Obstructed.
Mesmer has 2 long range main weapons. Staff isn’t even really long range. It’s a defensive weapon. GS is the only option we have. Every single attack but the underwhelming, microscopic GS3 AoE is unable to hit anything on a keep wall even if you see the targets knees. >.< I really wish Anet would give us some info on this. Is there anyone playing mes on their team that WvWs?
I just wanted to help take a keep. I wasn’t even running with the zerg, just met up with them by accident. Back to taking supply camps for me…..
Badges of Honor
It’s a percentage of your total health, no? So X% is X% it’s hurting your equally resistant friend the same regardless of your max HP. So although your numbers may be higher, it still effects the both of you equally with regard to your survivability.
I fail to see the issue.
A less than 10s reduction is a crash?
Seems like a bunch of non mesmers here. The biggest issue in WvW is culling problems and thieves that exploit it. Portal is just an excuse for people to continue to hate on mes. It’s QQ like this that has crippled our class.
I use 20/20/0/0/30 like Xavi suggested. It’s nice and most people seem to expect staff.
So other people are noticing how much bull kitten these new changes are. It really screws mesmers.
I’m working on sunrise. I’m a mesmer. It will look awesome.
This shouldn’t be stickied. It’s equivalent to telling all your users to go use and unverified 3rd party system because you don’t have the means to do it yourself.
1. Tarnished Coast (It’s in my sig. :P)
2. Point is I shouldn’t have to use a LFG site.
3. It’s approx 3PM here.
Almost had one, but we could never a 5th person. Is this how it’s supposed to be? Working for almost an hour to find a group if you even can? Why is this not more important to Anet? Why should I have to hunt people down every time my guild is at work or sleeping. Warping back and forth between LA and the dungeon zone. Trying in overflow and waiting to get on my server in LA so I can try there. Why is there not some type of dungeon run organizational tool?
It doesn’t seem like it’d be hard to do. But, as far as I can tell, it’s not even in the works.

How to fight a mesmer:
———————————————-
OMG a mesmer! Quick!
Blind him!
Attack him!
Ha, oh no he cured it.
Dodge!
Attack him some more!
Now block his skill!
Attack him some more!
Oh no, he summoned a phatasam!
Quick, blind it!
It’s worn off!
Quick Dodge!
Damage the phatasam.
Oh, it’s been 8 seconds, it’s attacking again!
Kill the phatasam!
Blind the mesmer again!
Yeah. Oh, another 8 seconds!
———————————————-
Repeat till dead.
Better?
In order to provide better understanding I’m going to provide some feeback.I hope this spells things out more explicitly. Subtly can be used to make a point. I believe this post, originally, was fine as it was. My opinion and sight of view on the topic at hand is that there are way to many ways to thwart a mesmer. Anyone with sense can see what I was saying. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it should be censored. Subtlety is not lack of content.
I’m going to try to be respectful. Mesmers can only have 3 illusions up at a time. We can get an additional shatter on ourselves if we trait for it. (Grandmaster trait)
Tbh, if you really feel that mesmers are that OP you should probably just run. I get a lot of runners. God forbid you dodge when they shatter. Mesmer shatter build hasn’t been OP for a while. Or you can just hide in a keep where we can’t get to you….
Live to win ’til you die
’Til the light dies in your eyes
Live to win take it all
Just keep fighting ’til you fall………….
Well said Supersun. You were able to nail the crux of the issue.
Where should I farm the gold to buy those 30+ silver ectos?
Once you get used to it and get geared properly it’s not so much hard as annoying.
Please tell what do you do with your mesmer when ALL the enemy server is on walls or behind it with sieges that is so much fun besides auto attacking a gate. Mesmer is still fun to play in a open field fight, but during sieges theres not much i see them doing. what do you want to do? throw chaos storm on friendlys and say its fun?
Call me when keep doors and buffy allies starts dropping badges and loot. I mean, if Anet had nerfed every other class like this the QQ’ed be everywhere. It’s just because we’re mes and bads couldn’t learn to play that we get hit with crap like this to little rage.
I remember hearing thieves would not have access to full stealth. But I see thieves using combo fields to have almost constant stealth. Needs a fix. It goes against Anet’s goals for the thief class.
Hm, both sides make good points. My impulse is to support anything that prevents turtling.
All anyone can suggest is a very situational confusion build that depends on your enemy being dumb. >.<
Is this what we’ve been reduced to in a siege. Really. So it’s okay for a class to be shoe horned into a single set up so that it can take full advantage of content? And seriously, read the OP. Nothing I say suggests I’m a bad. I’m certainly not the best, but I’m also not bad either. This is unbalanced, and if guardians are in fact as useless in a siege as mes then they need a fix too. It’s ridiculous.
Roll one and find out. Seriously, we have like 3 skills scattered over several weapons that can hit things on top of a wall. They all do low or no damage. Some mesmers like medals and refuse to be relegated to a portal monkey. If you play a mes, like medals, and want to attack something on a wall be prepared to see “Obstructed” over and over and over and over…..
It’s more precise to state the mesmer is now boring in sieges. Yes, well-timed golem portals and time warps are as crucial as ever…if they happen at all in a particular siege. The everyday, bread-and-butter siege experience of the mesmer has been reduced to casting chaos storm every 40ish second…and maybe a wall pull only to watch the defender slip in as the only cc you have left is the sword’s #3 (focus is spent and staff hasnt any).
Exactly. I also love how we pretty much have to run focus. Even though it’s not optimal for a lot of builds. But we don’t get a speed passive that doesn’t depend on illusions. You know the things that can now be blocked by a million different things and require a target. Too bad my build doesn’t use centaur runes.
I just started to get into SPvP. I enjoy it very much. I’m a bit discouraged by the lack of PvE progression and how all my gear looks nooby, but I do find the titles appealing. I’ve almost ranked up, so I think the gear thing will fix itself soon. And I’m already half way to my illusionist title iirc. (Not sure though.) But yeah, it’s very fun. I look forward to the day they finally implement GvG.
Oh, you mean in a siege? Some how dropping chaos storm and waiting 30 seconds over and over isn’t appealing to me. Plus, I get a reasonable number of badges this way.
