To the players who still want the earing and didnt get it there is a way. If you can farm or buy 1000 shells theres an NPC on the island that will sell you one.
That’s gone now.
Sure. That’s it, I’m sure that’s what them meant.
She was at the scoured plains. Canach’s Folly.
This must be a mistake.
Because the Karma merchant on the island that sold the ancient karka shell for 1000 karka shells. It’s gone. All gone.
My build… I’m not sure if it would be conisdered good, but I use it in WvW and have been very successful. I just started using it an SPvP, and people don’t seem to expect it. (Then again, I just started SPvP. :P)
20/20/0/0/30
GS/Sword-Pistol
Domination I: Mental Torment
Domination X: Greatsword Training
Dueling IV: Sword Training
Dueling X: Deceptive Evasion
Illusions III: Compounding Power
Illusions VI: Illusionary Invigoration
Illusions XI: Illusionary Persona
Full Knight’s Gear
Berserker’s Weapons
Mix of Knight/Berserker Trinkets
I like it a lot so far. But I was running a condition build with GS/Staff before the nerf. I’m far from an expert, but I’ll say this. Dueling IX is wonderful for clone generation. Especially with the new ways people have of blocking clone creation.
They’re linked, but not the same. Here’s my thing.
1. Clones/phantasms move around on their own.
2. The skills of clones/phantasms require a LoS to be successful. They have to see the target of their attacks to work.
3. Clones/phantasms can be inflicted with conditions.
4. A mesmer can shatter clones/phantasms even if we’re blinded. Also the mesmer need not have LoS. So it must be work of the clones/phantasms.
5. A phantasm continues to fight it’s target even if the mesmer that conjured it breaks LoS with the target.
So clearly they’re a separate entity from the mesmer.
So it follows… why the hell should I have to see my target to summon a phantasm. Even if I can’t see them, the phantasm should still spawn. It’s separate from me, the mesmer.
The only counter argument I could come up with is that clones/phantasms despawn when a mesmer dies. But that is the only way they’re linked after conjuring.
I’d be happy for an invite if it’s still going on.
Okay, I’ll say it again.
A one time event that gives out tons of exotic loot, a 20 slot bag, an exotic divnity like earring you (to my knowledge) can’t get anywhere else, legendary precursors, and tons of other awesome stuff shouldn’t be a ONE TIME WORLD EVENT.
It would have been better if:
a. It didn’t give out insane rewards.
or
b. It still gave out insane rewards, but you had a large shared instance that you could queue up for. You and X hundred people would be able to do the instance from it’s launch time to the end of the event. You know, the event that’s still “ongoing” but whose final stage is already over. >.<
That way all your non-neet players wouldn’t be so upset.
Well, judging by the times they chose for these events, they’re catering towards Neets.
Phase 3? What phase 3? I saw nothing, did nothing, and got nothing.
Fun times were had by all.
Just accept it now. You have to be Neet to enjoy the events in this game. God forbid they make any queued instances for one time events.
i am happy you guys got nerfed
now other classes can compete with mesmers , in WvW
You must be terrible at the game. I still wipe the floor with people in skirmishes even after these nerfs. No amount of nerfing will save bad players.
That’s why I don’t want to complete 100% of the map. I don’t want a shining star over my head.
Apparently putting the word “same” under this post doesn’t qualify as a meaningful contribution. So let me say this. It’s a bullkitten bug that makes it really easy for someone to kill me. For this reason I have put a whole portion of game content on hold.
There. Is that enough of a contribution to not get cens- um, moderated?
>:(
I’m not leaving mesmer. This is the character I most identify with. I refuse to leave. They’d have to really, really break it to get me to reconsider.
I was GS/Staff, but I knew we’d be getting a hard set of nerfs because of all the forum QQ. I’ve switched to Sword-Pistol/Staff now. I’ve given up on keep siege and stick to supply camps and general skirmishing. I could use the extra cash and xp you get from keeps, but we can’t do anything there but stand around like an idiot or beat on a wall/door.
I really hope they fix GS on the mesmer. I had planned on getting sunrise…..
I guess mesmer is relegated to a skirmisher class. That’s all we can do in WvW. I just wish you got as much of a reward for taking a supply camp as taking a keep/fort. Then it would be a little bit more fair.
As far as I know, every other class has a skill that can hit at the top of keeps without LoS. Now we don’t.
No, Chaos Storm is a defensive tool. I is useless in a siege.
Mind stab has the AoE width of a kiddy pool.
What else is there?
I love getting Obstructed on GS 1 and 2. Over and over and over. As I stare at the enemy.
Remove LoS from illusions. I shouldn’t have to see you to screw with your head.
This is a bug. We are aware of it and are working to resolve it.
To be more clear. The ability to post buy orders for account bound items is a bug we are working on.
I love how this game economy reflects a real economy so well. There’s very small group of obscenely rich people, but most of us are dirt poor and scurrying about looking for work to pay for equipment repairs. :P
Looks like Mitt Romney wanted to buy a lemon. lmao
I can’t equip any of my underwater utility skills to use in SPvP. It won’t let me when I’m underwater and playing SPvP. I’m sure this is stupidly apparent, but I can’t figure it out.
Asking in local is as helpful as always in SPvP. That is… not at all.

Was there a gear grind in GW1?
There was not.
Didn’t think so.
Was there a gear grind in GW1?
The map completion seems possible. I could see you doing it in two weeks. (If you rush through everything.) Prices were much lower back then. So the money is possible. Her friends were possibly gold sellers. Who knows.

So all my work to get exotics is now useless. Great.
I’m sorry? Is this WoW?
Staff elementalist, Air skill 1 – chain lightning.
Any deviation from the way they tiered things in GW1 is a deviation from what Anet said they would do. End of story.
So who at NCsoft pushed for this, I wonder? Just like the “We don’t want you to grind so we put in anti-farming code” vs “We want you to grind for your legendary.” I guarantee a business type had their hand in this mess.
What the heck? This isn’t my Guild Wars. I bought my cap gear already. I shouldn’t have to hunt down better stuff. Even if it’s marginally better, it’s still better.
I thought this wasn’t WoW!?
Hundreds of dollars isn’t a barrier to a lot of people. Some people are obscenely rich and willing to waste that much to have bragging rights in a video game. Sad, but true.
So they don’t want you to grind and they put a system in place to prevent grinding. Then they require you to grind to access end game content like legendary weapons. (It’s the big endgame goal. It’s not optional to anyone that is hardcore. Grinders are almost always hardcore.)
So why would they do this. I wish I knew the answer. I’m sure it’s a real GEM.
My point is that the people that got their precursors and legendary weapons now probably bought most of what they needed and that should not have been possible.
It’s not so much the fact that they bought their stuff as that, as a matter of game design, you can buy most everything you need for your “legendary” weapon. Rather than being something that players can say with 100% certainty that they worked hard to obtain, rather than being something that a player can be proud of, it’s something that is met with skepticism and contempt. Why? Because in all honesty a legendary holder probably didn’t work for most of it.
That’s my issue. It’s a matter of, in my limited view as a player, a bad game design decision. (Granted it’s only one bad decision in the best game I’ve ever played, but still it is a problem.)
Gold sellers charge way less than Anet. Way less. You’d be crazy to use them, but people clearly do. Otherwise they wouldn’t exist.
Lol, one of the first people to get a legendary flat out admitted to buying gold with gems.
We need a 100 level dungeon with difficult bosses every five levels. If you wipe, you start back at the top. If you finish it, you get your choice of a precursor. If you finish it successfully you have to wait 3 months to do it again. If you leave, you can try again immediately. You get to a save point after every boss. (Every five floors.) You can log out here and not lose any progress, but you can’t leave until you finish the dungeon or you have to start over. You must stick with your party. No one can quit.
1. It makes an epic journey for a precursor.
2. It gives you a reason to find a good guild and form a good party.
3. It’s not some BS gambling mechanic.Oh yeah, and soulbind on acquire all the precursors. It’s stupid that you can buy them.
They might do it in a week, but they aren’t going to be doing it again for 3 months. There should be no trade in a legendary precursor. It’s stupid and reduces any work a person put into their legendary because most people assume you bought it from a GS or Anet via gems.
Keep in mind that a precursor is just one part of a huge process to getting a legendary. Granted, right now it’s a big random pile of cats, but there’s still a ton of other stuff we have to grind for. 100g for icy runestones and all those nice, super rare lodestones. rolls eyes

Lol, nice one.
Our opinions don’t matter in this thread. Only the devs. He asked a simple question. Hope he gets a simple answer.
^You’re blind to the issue. Your perspective cannot be changed. There’s no point talking anymore to you about the subject.
I’ve noticed you’re a lot more terse than the other devs. It’s mildly humorous.
I wish they’d do something like my dungeon idea. But, I really think it’s just an attempt on Anet’s part to drive you to buy gems for gold. They’ve yet to demonstrate otherwise. Everything about the precursor acquisition process pushes toward buying gems to transform into gold.
Did they make a recent comment on the issue? I’d like to see if if anyone has a link?
Lodestones are a whole other issue.
They could fix it if they wanted to. But, I imagine, precursors make Anet a lot of money from gem sales and give gold sellers a lot of gold to work with.

Wonder if I should post this in it’s own thread for feedback.
(edited by SteepledHat.1345)
I agree. It sucks. But most things related to the MF suck. Good luck in the future.
It might be that one of that that specific rune is just soulbound by default (Like the monk runes, for example. The ones you get from ascalonian catacombs) and it was in the mystic forge rune table. Either way, there’s nothing Anet will do to fix your situation. They might fix it in the future, but you’re stuck with that, I’m afraid.
I’ve never tried it, but maybe you can reforge it.
I’d love to see a source on the 5% number. Though I don’t doubt it.
Like ANet said…the legendary won’t happen by itself due to time spent. You have to aim for it.
Or buy 80% of it from a gold seller or with gems.
No idea. It’s nick named the mystic toilet for a reason.
I honestly believe that almost every one of you with a precursor or legendary either
a. Bought it from a gold seller
b. Used an exploit to get it
c. Used and exploit to make money to get it.
Very, very, very few of you got it legitimately. None of you grinded for the gold unless you did so when it was very cheap. (Around the 10g mark.) There simply hasn’t been enough time for a non botter to have made enough money to have bought the precursors and all the legendary components.
So yeah, when I see one I don’t go “Wow! I bet he worked hard.”
It’ll never have that effect. I’m not the only person that thinks this way.
a “ordinary” player does not deserve one.
Well there is nothing extraordinary about buying form a gold seller or grinding the same event.
I hate it. But I’ll be there for anywhere from 200-266 game hours just to buy my precursor. That’s not counting lodestones, and the cost of all the 1g items you have to buy.
I’m sure there will be.
But, they will probably require you to provide previous legendarys as mystic forge components and there will be chance you only get an exotic as the result.
Endgame, gotta make it last.
