I hope that is a random order you just placed there, otherwise it just shows that you are not in touch with the reality. Elementalist (only) on 3rd position as a bunker? lol

Its order of which annoy me the most its class viewpoint relative only, not my tottal idea of best bunkers.

Engineers with their knockbacks and Guardians can outdps the ranged attackers ? :P

Edit: i admit the Thief that i have fought , he didnt have a ranged weapon :P
But i belive with the shortbow , he can maintin a little dp , and evade attack (the 3rd that leap back while evading)

Yes but its far worse then your mentioned counterparts. with full conditin build u have 1900-2200 attack power in shamans amulet, Gl trying to maintain any ranged damage.
Thief uses regain 50% endurance and 3 innitiative on weapeon swap, if he swaps d/d to sb he can have damage however it loses basicaly all condition damage(sb has poison and few bleeds but not even close).

It can bunker but its worse then:
1.Guardian
2.Engineer
3.Ele.
4.Mesmer.

Not worth going a bunker, while you are so outperformed by others.

Back on topic, the reward system promotes the LACK of team play. So, all of those people that play for REWARDS are doing so at the cost of team play, making those who want to win have to struggle because they are the only ones trying to accomplish that goal. Stop looking at life as though the sun is a lollipop and the grass is cotton candy.

Also, your soccer analogy doesn’t work because the goalkeeper is trying to win, but so are the other players. The correct analogy would be if the goalkeeper was getting paid to win, but all the other players on his team were getting paid by how many open field jukes and tricks they could do, meanwhile not trying to get the ball in the goal.

Players value grows with the more goals/shots on goal and stuff they do, just like in baseball the hits/runs, etc!!

Noone means Tpvp. Win is reward there(400 glory points an chest in frees more in paids)

However in Spvp there aint a reason to defend. Stealing points killing people earns me 300 points a game, but i lose it. Ok you defended your point got 200 points + % for win…. which isnt more then i did just running with zerg.

Your win is rewarded less then oponents loss, in this case, which feels lame.

Reward for win must be increased or reward for point defence.

I suggested this in some thread earlier. Yes that would help a lot, for condition builds. As time taken to kill in burst and in condition build once person is downed is very diffrent, if you cant do finisher.

You made a clearly unfounded and non-sense statement and now you’re trying to give it a reason with weak arguments, in order to make the thieves look like the weak one and warriors as the op who needs a nerf. And there you are with that sentence whose clear scope is to avoid to answer my reasoning.

Well done.

Every S/x weapon set has better mobility than any warrior in this world, without counting any utility or steal itself.

Thiefs has best in combat mobility, thats true.

The other part is that out of combat that movbility way more limited then elementalist with air spec for movement.

Out of combat thief has: Cons
1. No swiftness exept 2 seconds on dodge or 10 seconds on steal(both cant be kept for too long.
2. Sword/X has no movement out of combat at all.
3. Infilrtators arrow drain so much innitiative, if you encounter somebody you wont be able to do basicly anything.

Pros
1. Can shadow step 3000 range using utility + Infilrtators arrow.
2. Heartseeker is pretty effective with swiftness( yet look above cant rly get reliable swiftness when solo)
3. Signet of shadows 25% movement increase can do job of swiftness if we are willing to sacrifise utility slot just for movement.(its active isnt worth the notice)
4. Our movement skill Shadowstep is also condition stun/condition removal, so if we run away from something its very usefull.

Bleeding thiefs can bunker easy… broken healing signet, caltrop is on low cd and do way too much bleed stack on way too big ground and i didn’t mentioned the endless dodge with clatrops and blossom evasions…

Those kind of thiefs have 2x d/d sets which leaves them with 0 ranged capability now that dancing dagger is nerfed. Maybe try to range him, withouth him shooting back ?

Stin how many hits , aegis can block ?
How many hits , Thiefs evasive attacks can block ?
Can evasive attacks block mutliply attacks , from multiply ppl ?
Can Thiefs wear the same <<bunker amulets>> like the rest of the bunkers ?

Thiefs evasive attacks or Guardians blocks/aegis ocure more time ?

Atleast let the thread die , instead of listing to foolishness

Edit: I have fought only 1 Thief , 3 weeks ago , that he used this tactic
He stacks 16 bleeds withe the d/d 3rd attack
I didnt die , but neither he did for 45-55 sec , before his friend show up and killed me

Like the ppl proclaimed long time ago that Elementalist-Engineers where UP and useless , but some ppl change that

First of all d/d bleed build, isnt that good of a bunker, i play a lot of classes myself(thief/guardian/ranger/mesmer) and only profesion i could not kill thief with was my guardian( not like expect to kill anyone smart at all with bunker spec).

D/D unicorn thief has 2x dagger sets no ranged weapeon at all, sit on ledge and shoot at him,if he goes of point you won, if he stealths you won as he is losing point now. That build is insanely good at stealing point, not at keeping one, which is what i imagine bunker doing. It can nulify point easy, but gets his own point nulified just as easy. That is not what a bunker should let to be done.

Reading these replies the one thing that disgusts me are the blatant posts by non thieves coming in here trying to nerf our class into the ground.

You really need to have separate forums for feedback BY thieves and feedback from people who don’t play them. You’d see the HUGE discrepancy between the two groups on just exactly what needs fixing and what doesn’t.

Taking peoples views at equal face value without first determining what side of this fence they are on is going down a bad path if you want real fixes.

Personally as a thief these are my top concerns:

Fix the culling bug – (before you address anything else)

Tweak Initiative cost on Dancing Dagger

Fix Flanking Strike

Possibly add the option to dual wield swords.

Look at Traps (right now they are rarely used)

Remove Quickness – or make it increase initiative gain (and or add vigor) for X seconds instead of attack speed.

Fix Pistols to be useful for something besides single target ranged.

Tweak Shortbow skills ( 2 is very clunky to use, too high of an arch makes it impossible to use in a tunnel and it takes entirely too long to land from when fired. )

Shortbow could benefit greatly from some type of timed skill that goes farther the longer we aim it. (maybe starting at 900, then going to 1050 then 1200 for a 1-2-3 second pull on the bow.) Giving us a REAL single target attack on the bow.

Don’t allow Cloak and Dagger to be precast before Steal (keep the dmg)

(and please, please, please dont be hasty with tweaking damage numbers until you FIRST and FOREMOST fix the bugs and things like precasting Cloak and Dagger first)

Precasting CnD before steal is not a bug, more classes have it too. Elementalists comes to my mind first.

Defending points even if you do it is ussualy useless.
Their zerg will come you die, get 0 points, spend time ressing.

Now lets say you survive the whole lets say 6v6 teamfight, you fight on point 6 ppl downed give you around 90 points, you can cap enemy point too giving tottal of 110 points, maybe you ress an ally afterwards for 10 extra points.

Defending is tottaly crapy. My suggestion to that would be. If you caped a point, time ticks, 1 tick each 30 seconds. If noone cap your point in those 30 seconds you get 10 points.
Since average game is 8-10 minutes you could get 160-200 points if noone caped your point in whole game. However not to abuse this for free farming glory, this should not activate if there arent at least 3vs3 in map

And 1 more thing to post above too.

Thief cannot bunker at all, thanks to stealth mechanic. We cannot bunker at points at ALL. So make thief in par with other classes in damage, yet now they are same in damage, yet cannot bunker, my class can, my class is superior in this case.

As long as you cannot cap in stealth in Tpvp you cannot make thiefs damage and burst on par with any other class, no matter how its built.

You need to read Sirlin “Play to win” , there arent cheap, easy, unfun skills/moves. The game is made diffrent from real life and the goal is to win. If you are restricting yourself from certain playstyles of your class cuz you dont like it, cuz its cheap, cuz its unfun, you are setting up limits for yourself at the game. Please understand goal of game is to win. Seems like you end up whining about other classes(thief in this case) since you arent willing to use winning tactic of your class, you want to use tactic you set limit yourself to. Playing to win can be much more fun then playing to have fun, in many cases.

What i meant is:
Whiner: Anet said all classes can do all roles so why cant i play glass cannon
Truth: All classes can do all roles however there are always better ones, at certain role, if you limit yourself to lets say elementalist glass cannon cuz you like it, it doesnt mean its gonna have a stand off. However playing elementalist bunker makes you pretty much invincible to thiefs if you are good. You dont like the playstyle ? You just set yourself a limit why you cant win over thief. Every class has builds that kill thief, or makes him run away 1on1, if thief is hit and run type. Since Tpvp is point capture you just won the game, bunkering/surviving better then thief. Sure he didnt die but yet its a loss.

Thieves I like thieves where they are. High burst damage, in and out of a fight, but generally weak to condition damage. The offensive style thieves excel in 1 v 1 situations but generally won’t find a happy home in a zerg. The change to assassin signet was also welcome due to 1 shot backstabs being a bit overboard. However, there are two things about the thief I think could use some tweaking for balance/enjoyment.

1- long, long stealth
There is not too much stealth, per se, just too long stealth. Blinding powder, hide in shadows, I don’t see as too bad, shadow refuge is a bit OP. I don’t think stealth should stack so high, or stack at all really. In addition the revealed debuff is very short. Keep in mind that thief stealth brokenness is empowered further by the slow model loading in WvW.

To further illustrate this point, I would like to mention that I have achieved UNLIMITED stealth with my thief and no outside help. If you want to reproduce it just offhand a pistol and switch between bow. That alone + initiative traits can do it, but if you want to go overboard you can take shadow refuge, blinding powder, and smoke screen. 3 initiative blast finishers with no cd + smoke field + 2 initiative back on creating stealth… deception cd.. you get the point.

This might be okay if there were a way to break or reveal stealth, but there is no such mechanic, and the balance was supposed to be short duration. This relates to my #2 gripe,

2- Easy mode- I like the initiative idea, but it lets people spam button for the win. Maybe reduced effect or double initiative penalty for using same skill repeatedly in a row?
History of the thief patches: haste then,
dagger 222222222222- stealth, F key. patched but still somewhat effective
short bow 3333333333333 on face, stealth, f key. patched
sword/pistol 3333 stealth, f key. 15% damage nerf patch, still somewhat effective
dagger/dagger 3333333 roll some 33333 stealth, f key.
pistol pistol 33333333 stealth, f key

also two bugs that REALLY need to go: 1- infinite stealth+ sitting on control point in wvwvw trolling 50 people for 5 minutes lawls
2- inifinite stealth + shooting short bow 4 tons of people with poison build for almost a whole minute..and never leaving stealth, because the 4 skill doesn’t do damage on hit.

edit because I forgot some 33333s.

PS the sword and short bow stealth moves could use some love

What you said about WvW holding point invisible is silly, and perma stealth is achivable but each blast finisher gives off smoke animation… which clearly shows where you are for sure.

Penalty for using same skill 2 times in a row … Nah rly, some weapeons got only 1 dmg skill in tottal in it. It would ruin those weapeon sets completely. This could never be done withouth fulll remake of weapeons.

From someone who mains thief:

Nerfs:

1) Steal: Using steal should cancel out whatever skill you were using before it. Steal+CnD is really cheesy, and feels more like a bug/exploit than a real game mechanic. Steal should also not apply venoms. This will people to actually work to get in close to someone using D/D.

2) Heartseeker: Reduce range from 450 to 200. This should reduce QQ about heartseeker spammers in hotjoins.

3) Haste: This skill needs to go. Quickness + initiative system is just way too good. Replace this with something else that will give thieves boons or something, or maybe another condition removal.

Buffs:

-If the nerfs above are implemented, then CnD and Pistol whip damage should be restored to what they were before they were nerfed. Pistol whip will not be overpowered if haste is gone, and CnD will not be a problem if the Steal + CnD combo no longer works.

1) Shadow Shot: This skill needs to just execute a lot faster than it does currently. The reason people don’t use this is because it’s way too slow. Making this better will make D/P actually viable.

2) Flanking Strike: Fix the tracking on this.

3) Body shot: Speed up the animation for this. This will make Pistol mainhand sets alot more viable.

If thief steal cancels what you are casting so should other classes like elementalist and so on. Thief isnt the only one who has it

if heartseeker has 200 range its gonna be close to basic attack with more dmg and leap will only make animation of 200 range attack rly long. 300 range could be ok i guess.

Haste has to be changed somehow but some skills need fix first before haste could go away. PWhip, and some from other classes.

CnD damage should be brought back anyways since if you arent glass cannon now it barely does any damage.

Stealth stacks, in time. So using CnD + blinding powder + your heal will end up 9 seconds stealth. However for that you need to blow 2 utilitys. Or shadow refuge for 10 seconds movable stealth(1 utility).

However withouth using utilities just to stealth is particulary what he meant. If thief specializes into stealth using utilities, he wont have any damage/cc or stunbreakers in those slots.

Reading this whole discusion was quite a pain but here’s my conclusion and own ideas.

Curent dancing dagger is lackluster, and even useless againsnt single target. Remake the change into D/D hitting 100%>75%>50%>25%

In comparison to old dancing dagger it would do 3/8 less damage, yet it would be reliable single target hit. Instead of 50/50/50/50 of old dancing dagget. It is not much of a boost just 60% of old dancing dagger damage instead of 50% that is now. Yet much more usefull in 1on1.

2bad thing is CnD nerf. Sure its needed to lower burst but done in wrong place, and affects other sets as much if not more( S/D got bigger nerf then d/d).
The fix to this would be, give CnD 25% dmg buff, remove stacks of vurnuability. This would reduce D/D damage output but around 13% but would not affect sword.
Reasoning if target has a condition you do 10% more damage, from 25 trait points in power tree, yet if no vurnuability, no 10% extra damage and no 3% extra from debuff.

Third problem, Culling, i will not adress this problem as it is WvW problem, and unless dews make WvW only change it would ruin thiefs otherwise.

Flanking strike: i still dont get how ranger has working version of this while thief doesnt. Give thief rangers type of animation, thats it.

P/P change skill number 2 into confusion shot, applys 1 stack of confusin for 6 seconds, make it shoot at ground(etc ground targeting), and be blast finisher, this would also give some acess to stealth to p/p as black powder is combo field when mixed with blast finisher gives stealth. Not a reliable but, some way to acess stealth at least.

Shadow shot: remove rooting yourself in place after shot, as it is ridiculous, for a gap closer to root you, unless it roots both you and enemy at the same time.

Backstab: change extra damage from behind into extra 15% damage for each condition. It would always deal same damage as backstab from behind if you had 6 diffrent conditions( if you got that you wont live long anyways.

Common suggestion for all classes: conditions stay after target is downed. It is next to imposible to damage target down with condition playstyle, before help arrives.

P.S might be lots of mistakes in text, as wrote this all in a hurry.

Dancing Dagger Nerf a Bit Over the Top?

I think Anet lowered Dancing Dagger’s damage by so much because it was being used for it probably isn’t meant to do. I know that whenever I see two people or more, my first thought is usually “Spam them to death with Dancing Daggers”. If specced right, that can hit up to 5k-7k when bouncing off targets (it’s not strong if it didn’t have multiple targets to bounce). Maybe it was meant to just be a multi-target cripple, not a damage ability?
Maybe it’d be more balanced if they lowered it to 3 initiative because it’s just used for cripple now, and 4 seems to cost a lot for such a cripple attack.

Look : Against single target

Infiltrators strike 1.5 snare, gap closer, can be falowed up by condition/stun removal for 2 innitiative.

Dancing dagger 3 seconds snare. No gap closer nuthing else.

It completely lost its value against single target, Against 2 targets its ok now against 1/3/4 its meh.

Just to put things into perspective:
Shortbow’s auto attack does about 134 damage according to the build editor, and bounces 3 times, while costing no initiative.

Dancing Dagger does 122 damage per hit and bounces 4 times, adds a cripple, and costs 4 initiative.

Ranger’s (lol) Axe auto attack does 122 damage per hit and bounces 3 times.

Do you think an ability I have to pay for to use should be weaker than options I have available to me with an auto-attack? Do you find that just pressing 1 for every battle is fun?

These changes suffer from bad game design in more than a few ways; damage is just the easiest to analyze.

You are right on this one, this skill is still viable in a way, but just not worth using for that innitiative, or if you can just swap weapeon.

First of all if you do your story late, etcs you are lvl 75 and do lvl 70 story rewards will be useless. Second of all, You can pick you reward every time, so it always usable in some sort.

Well, it lost it usefullness for me, kitten D player, i can infiltrators strike for 3 innitiative + thats snare. with pretty much same damage as dd 1on1… and a gap closer….. and lets me remove stun/condition after it…

1on1 dancing dagger now is just awfull, nuthing else.1vs many its still toleratable.

I don’t understand why always somebody appears and cover ANET on topics? I don’t wanna create alternatives. i set my gears for my backstab build and c&d is the key point on this build. we have already less hp because we preferred to do higher damage. why they are ruining all the time?

they say; all class are equal, your builds will be determinative.

but when a build forge ahead they are nerfing it.

Don’t take into account the less HP topic which is still a joke said by a thief.
You have the highest mobility in the game and stealth; you are able to take no damage at all if you play well.

Backstab build was overperforming all burst builds in the game, that’s the point. You are still able to run your backstab build, but a single chain now probably won’t kill your target and you have to use some other skills. Crazy, uh?

Backstab nerf wasnt too bad but other builds with dagger offhand got hit rly rly hard.

S/D nerf was pretty painfull, and from what i mean is look :

D/D and S/D got arround same nerf in dmg % however, after this combo D/D has heartseeker a secondary damage skill which also closes gaps.

S/D has nuthing, only CnD>TS combo which dazes ofcourse but after dancing dagger nerf leaves you w/o any other burst capability since its strongest attack is autoattack.

The outcome? S/D lost more viability then D/D while D/D was strongest set.

Fix ? 3 ways.

1.Flanking strike fix(if it becomes viable with better integrated 2nd hit S/D could work)
2. Sword autoattack buff. However its strongest thief autoattack weapeon allready, so i doubt this actin woud be taken.
3. Add bleed/poison or sth like that to tactical strike, or autoattack chain, with equal to 25% of TS/autoattack chain damage, bringing back same damage, but with less burst.

Screenshot sent by a friend when we were duelling. I was the perpetrator. Could’ve been about 6k higher if I had specced into executionner (which I had hidden killer).

You should kitten with this type of screenshots, noone gives builds and stuff.

Btw in WvW i tested lvl 80 exotics berserker warrior vs lvl 3 whites warrior using frenzy Hb hit 71k, Does that count too ?

It seems to me as the way the maps are it is next to impossible to play a ranged character and be effective. Pretty much everyone play melee bunker except for thieves. I see a few rangers try to snipe ppl from top of ledges, but really there are so many ways to get out of los I don’t see how that can work well.

There are only bunker’s and thieves, going anything but bunker to the max means dying in under 3 seconds to thieves.

Anet wants there game to have two roles dps thief and tank nothing else and they seem either too stupid or too blind to do anything about it but they have a new event coming up while pvp and pve in this game are garbage.

Go play paid touraments mate ur blabing nonsense, If other team rolls 2+ thiefs they are allready lost before battle started.

@Aydenunited your telling people that you can give tips and pointers to beat thieves lmfao.

So a player should use endless specing, learn everything about the theif class, time there abilties flawlessly to beat a guy who can pick up the class day one and mash 5 buttons for 24k dmg in 4 secs to players with over 2.2k armor. And your saying that’s balanced it’s absolutely crazy.

That’s like me saying if i give one guy lead shoes and another guy flippers, the guy with lead shoes could beat him in a swim meet if he paddles hard enough. Why should one class win with lil to no skill and you expect the other guy to be in the top 1% of MMO pvper’s to beat him.

You know i main thief and i use 2600 armor…. and i count myself as burst… not backstab but burst… 2200 armor is asking for instagib seriously.

Anyways, all classes can play well, but not with any build. Thiefs cant bunker thx to the way stealth works, so you see only roamers. Some classes cant roam or roam bad as they got no swiftness or passive movespeed and so on. It all comes down what role can your class fill not how you want to play your class.

stolen fear needs 2 (3?) secs to be casted. but i agree it is a little over..

It has 1 second cast time, with 3.5 seconds fear. Warriors has same with fear me… And they dont need to specificaly use it on some class(necro in this case). Its strong but a weaker ability is just useless. As for a class mechanic stolen effects cant be used too often like other classes. Unless they reduce time on steal to 35? maybe seconds nerfs to skills shouldnt be applied.

Why does one team get an automatic advantage with a horde of bleeding sharks just because they’ve already won control of an area? What possible justification can be given for allowing one side that’s already succeeded to get an large advantage to help them keep the point?

This sort of map mechanic makes sense in a WvW situation where there’s often NPCs to help players out who take the time to complete whatever objective is necessary to turn them into allies. But in an sPVP match this kind of thing has no place.

Cannons require a player to man them. Trebs require a player to man them. Sharks require…..?

You do understand that ability comes up once in 45 seconds AND only when we steal from necro, Why would i steal some ability from necro if its kitteny and have 45 seconds cooldown on my class skill. Its like stealing from engineers, you get ability that does like 1000 dmg and 1 random condition, in small non targetable aoe. Why would i steal sth like that ?

Lets say warrior axe spin we steal now, same as warriors, but we cant dodge and we take all melee damage, tottaly useless attack minding that warrior does same dmg from it, has naturaly more hp/armor. We got ripoff skill not worth stealing unless other player is bad.

Lets ruin thief class mechanic giving him weaker/same spells as the class it stole from while not having strenghts of that class.

He could ofcourse ask you to leave, but he chose easier way to tell you to kitten out of here, and ignored the others who ware ingame in team for solo reason he wasnt there to do Spvp.

It happens from time to time, not the most reliable way to do it though, Use shadowstep on door, you either end up in 1 side of door and waste 50seconds cooldown or end up in other side, OR stuck inside a door if you used shortbows shadowstep sometimes… then u ask for a player to kill u or hope for shadowstep to unstuck u.

Ye they need to fix it, though… noone would love siting inside door or having their lord killed like that.

Sword has ton of defences ? you mean infiltrators strike ? what if i dont want to tp back to my last place ?

I mean the incredibly frequent dazes and the spammable stun break. FS as it is right now isn’t responsive enough to dodge a heavy-hitting attack (at least in PvP), so the evade is just avoiding whatever happens to hit you for that short period. CnD -> 2s Daze will do far more to keep you alive.

Yes it has in combat defences when you are on offencive, but what if you need to be on defencive side for a bit. It has no defence when you are actualy defending and not attacking your target, i would like to not focus only on offencive and to remove weakness of weapeon instead of making it another Dmg first weapeon.

@labotimy funny reply , basically only a low ranked glory player who doesnt tpvp ( or paid ) has issues with glass cannon thieves running 14k hp. Having a 3 sec traited stealth with an immovable shadow refuge small aoe stealth can you still talk ? Did you ever play paid tpvp ? I hardly doubt it and if you did ? have you tried playing a glass cannon thief by any chance ? You obviously have no constructive feedback nor you know game mechanics as such.

oh man you totally demolished me with this response mr. pro gamer. i have done tournies prolly around 30 or 40 maybe more, not paid seeing as how they came out like last week and i already moved on. as posted previously im rank 2x and hit 2x during beta as well. no i have not tried a glass thief in tourny play, but have had at least 1 GLASS backstab using thief in just about every team i joined.

This comming from the guy who walked away from tpvp and paid , letting us know how skilled is in his hotjoin PoV. Untill you try and run that glass cannon thief in a decent premade you have no argument. Also if you “walked” away why are you still concerned about the pvp situation which is extremely good atm. Hotjoin should be balanced by limiting the classes numbers per join , not by destroying a certain class untill it becomes unplayable , not from the cries of newcommers who dont know the game mechanics because if they did they wouldnt post in here and would be in game like most of us.

Time warp is 5 sec haste and its much better in teamfights, with moa its gonna be 4v5 for 10sec but with timewarp its gonna be 10v5 for 5 sec which will stomp enemy team immediately

If im correct timewarp is 10 seconds.

Make it to hit 2nd while evading, not after evade animation is done, or decrease cast time/incrase animation speed by 25-33% to justify it, its not usable with haste anyways due to pathing and having as much chances of hiting a target while hes moving as me with eyes closed

Eh, the evade is nice, but the sword already has tons of defenses. I’d rather get an offensive skill that can reliably hit my opponent than an evade that burns my initiative.

No, every thief weapeon needs some defence and has one, d/d has evade on DB. shortbow has disabling shot, p/d has shadow strike to tp away, d/p has black powder to stop attack and blind, p/p has same black powder and daze on #4.
I sincerely think evade is neccesary. Or block as suggested above

Well on conditions build, you wont be bursted down all that easy with Vitality, as you got stealth and stuff, Toughness isnt too good after some point since, we arent class made to take damage, Avoiding dmg is how we roll. If you avoid damage its reduction is meaningless too.

i would like to see:
1. poison effect added on more skills
2. cloack and dagger effect changed to 10 stacks of vulnerability +blind + poison
3. an defensive buff (stability / protection /aegis /regeneration /steal health )
4 and most of all -an buff on vennom’s : passive effect (vennom trigger once at 20 seconds)

2/3/4 no, its all oriented into condition builds. Thief does not need stability as he has stealth he dont need aeagis too, Steal health coud be worth a shot but there are ways to heal up with damage too, might be too strong combined lifesteal/life gain builds/
Venoms dont need passive however some venoms need a buff. 1 second chill is next to useless. Venom share with passive effects, is too powerfull. CnD wouldnt be good that way as it would have too much synergy with p/d while losing any synergy to sword dagger since its only thiefs, only power regulated set, blind in it would be too similar to black powder but, melee range.

Elementalist actualy has better damage, then thief and its all in aoe scale.
However its unplayable as with full damage elementalists get blows away by bounced attack which it randomly hit. If you build ele burst, it has very very hight burst truth be told. Survival just sux though.

@Velk yea I think people should take a look at what the guildwars 1 counterpart is.

Given this dude didn’t bring res to ra, and probably wasn’t the optimal build at the time and I don’t have any of my own, it’s a decent video of a sin spiking targets. While it doesn’t show what guildwars 1 pvp is about it shows what a sin could do in a few seconds.

Good ol’ Shadow Prison. Assassins were a stupid profession to include. A class that is based around killing someone with a three second spike? Yeah, nothing can go wrong there. Flash forward a year, and they are just crappy Warriors, which themselves are not too great. You don’t put Thief, Assassin or Rogue style classes in the game if your concept of them is something that deals burst damage but is squishy. That never works, especially if there’s a stealth mechanic. Never. You never, ever balance a profession or even a single move to the attacker. “Well, you can kill this guy in one hit but if you don’t do X you might die.” It’s unfair to the defender. Attacks of consequence should always be subject to the defender. And this doesn’t mean dodging a barely telegraphed move out of stealth in a fraction of a second. Honestly. You’d think after Factions, they’d understand this a little better.

… You still dont know that steal if used from stealth cannot continue with backstab… thief always always backstabs while beeing visible.
If you didnt see thief coming, you deserve to die, what if you dont see HB warrior charging at u, isnt that guaranteed death too, or burst engineer with granade kit huh ?

If you saw thief, you could avoid its damage(though i agree its a bit too hight atm),
just like you could avoid a warrior. Diffrence ? range at which combo is innitiated.
Thief starts at 900- range warrior can start at 600 range plus takes 1-1.5 seconds to reach target. and 1.5 seconds to dish out all damage. Diffrence is… around 1.5 seconds of time plus thief is singular hits(blind/aeagis) more effective against thief then against warrior with big number of hits.

in gw2 each class has self sufficient heal… which is why healers ware removed, as they are atrocious to play and, abominations in playstyle, forcing to look at skillbars/healthbars not enjoy the game graphicaly and in other ways.

Please add it to the tournament rotation. People would hate underwater less if they actually got to play it regularly. The 3 maps get very boring.

I always feel having serious advantage when i spawn in blue side. Thief shadowsteps lets me get to the point about 5 seconds faster the other side, It also has better uphill, wider and more capacity to defend point from up above, more space to move in the area. That map is still very much leaning towards blue advantage to me.

I myself play full invisibility spec, not backstab though. Stealthing at will isnt so much at will as you think, each time you stealth you arent caping/defeding point as stealth machanics are like that. I myself speced into long invis, and i think stealth is thiefs main offencive strenght and bunkering weakness, stealth limits our ways to bunker, our dodgy mechanics dont allow to bunker too as from time to time we roll out of, caping zones, no stability, no protection.
Thief is limited only to offencive specs in touraments, unless you play death blossom spec, which is kitten countered by anyone who is smart enough to back out a lil and shoot thief, as he carrys 2x dagger sets, with condition damage, who dont deal any damage at all in range.
After you get us working bunker spec, talk about nerfing stealth again.
