Purchased Chopping AXE via Gem Store. No AXE?

in Account & Technical Support

StinVec.3621

NVM just had to clear out space in my mailbox.

Cool; I’m glad you got your axe. It’s amazing how often folks forget about clearing the mailbox, so don’t worry, you’re not alone with this one.

Hi Gaile. A lot of people do not know of the message limit in the first place to then forget about it or they do not believe that there actually is such a very small limit of 10. I think that the 10/10 message counter in small font may not be enough of a notice to people who expect Gem Store purchases to be delivered and that having a full box would actually prevent their delivery.

Could you see about making a suggestion to have a red-lettered note show in the bottom of the messages inbox when there are messages waiting to be delivered and to clear some messages for them to then be delivered? Would certainly prevent this from being such a massively common issue any longer.

Terrain tilting while walking, running

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I’ve had this happen several times over the past few months, but it has only ever really lasted while I continued to hold the forward movement key. Even after releasing the forward movement key I would remain angled to the terrain for about 2 seconds afterward and I would then suddenly ‘snap’ upright to a natural position. I think it may also be related to the issue of our characters initiating the forward movement but getting stuck in the first step of the animation (linked). Only way to get out of the stuck pose is to release the forward movement key and then attempt to move forward again. I also think these issues may be related to a form of lag.

Living story and the unsolved mysteries

mbridg txh for remembering i completly forgot that cutscene.
And thx StinVec haven’t had time to play this storypart jet so thx for the info and i will take a look at it. It sounds insane injecting yourself in a holographic projectror.

Yeah, at the projectors that the Aetherblades appear at to ‘mess’ with them, 4 regular guys attack you while an invulnerable Veteran Aetherblade crouches down, tweaks something, and then stands up and steps into the middle of the projector and disappears with a flash into it. It’s very peculiar, and I can only think that ArenaNet are planning to involve them with SAB in some way down the road.

where can i see this happen i want to check it out tomorrow?

Throughout the world there are holographic projectors in each zone that are marked with a red dragon icon on the map. Approach one of these projectors and some Aetherblades pop up. The 4 will attack you while the Veteran does their business and then vanishes into the projector. Not all of the projectors will spawn Aetherblade when approached, instead they will simply have the interact popup to spawn holograms as normal which you defeat for zhaitaffy candy.

Anyways..still bold stuff. Even though Im at a cross-roads with guild wars 2, good luck.

Ah! So that’s why the helmets remove beards and facial hair; so we can see big smiles! It’s suddenly so clear to me now.

Theory: Aetherblades related to Consortium

in Living World

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

If Aetherblades are involved with the Inquest, that could explain why the Aetherblades appear at the holoprojectors to ‘mess’ with them: 4 regular guys attack you while an invulnerable Veteran Aetherblade crouches down, tweaks something, and then stands up and steps into the middle of the projector and disappears with a flash into it. It’s very peculiar, and I can only think that ArenaNet are planning to involve the Aetherblade and Inquest with stealing holo technology or directly with SAB in some way down the road.

So, why are the Veteran Aetherblades so keen to modify and inject themselves into the holographic world via the holographic projectors?
Are they looking for technology? Magic? Both?
If so, for themselves or for the Inquest/Consortium?
Are they looking for another world to dominate (return of an Aetherblade infested SAB in the future)?

Tears of Itlaocol

It would have been a good idea and extremely logical for ArenaNet to ensure the jumping puzzles were without bugs before featuring them in a Living Story chapter and encouraging the entire playerbase to go do them again. Considering this one has been bugged for so long, either ArenaNet ‘forgot’ about this bugged jumping puzzle, they never bothered to take notice of it being reported on these forums for so long and were ‘unaware’ of it being bugged, or they knew it was bugged but couldn’t be bothered to look into fixing it prior to releasing content that was focused on the jumping puzzles. I really, really hope they only forgot about fixing it, as that is the option that is the least disappointing to me of the three I mentioned.

It wouldn’t be as annoying as it is for me if they would maintain the state of collapse that I put them in! Any event I complete causes my personal storyline to expand, my expanded Daily Tasks to collapse, and the Living Story to expand…

They’ve previously stated that they fixed the issue of expand/collapse states not being remembered, though it never has been. Since I can’t remove/hide the Personal Storyline and Living Story boxes, at least keep them collapsed like I choose them to be and not re-expand them simply because I completed a dynamic event! It’s very sad. I only want my Daily to be expanded, but by completing one of the tasks in my daily it causes it to become collapsed and then expands all the other annoying boxes. So then I need to re-collapse them and re-expand my Daily box.

So sad.

Texture seam visible on Whispers Leggings

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Unfortunately, this has been an issue for over 9 months with female abdomens across several races. This visible seam was “fixed” in the front on some of the bodies/races simply by them moving the seam to the lower back of the models. Other cases, it simply looks like the torso is tucked into the lower half like a shirt into pants. It’s disgusting. The texture of the torso doesn’t match up with the texture below the belly button, and when it is tucked in, the lighting actually causes the lower half to cast a shadow onto the tucked in upper half. Even Sylvari glow lines on females do not match up at all around the waist and it looks horrendous. However, the state where the huge seam is open to where the torso is floating above the waist with an empty space there is the most common that I still see.

I’m very, very sorry to have to say that you should not anticipate it being properly fixed any time soon.

Mouse losing focus -right click to turn not working [Merged]

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

All of these are related to the same issue. Most affected users encounter it with their Razer Naga and Logitech mice, though it has also been an issue for Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and generic brand mice. There doesn’t seem to be a known cause and it is strictly limited to malfunctioning during GW2.

Issue: Mouse Button Loses Focus and Does Not Reacquire It

  • Most of the time that this issue is present (it is inconsistent), the mouse actually loses focus and never reacquires it, which prevents character and camera orientation with the right mouse button and leaves the game in a completely unplayable state. Some days it is very bad and prevents you from even being able to play, other times it is only a couple times a minutes, but leads to frustration and not playing the game the rest of that day.

Issue: Nearby Friendly Target Being Selected Unintentionally Due To Mouse Button Losing Focus and Reacquiring It Quickly

  • The option to ‘Disable Right-click Targeting’ has helped with the linked issue of randomly selecting a nearby friendly target while moving your camera with the right mouse button. This happens because the mouse tracking has an issue to where the game reads you as releasing the mouse button (despite your having never released it) and then re-‘clicks’ the button down quickly. Due to this issue, if your cursor was over/near another friendly, then they become your new target as if you had intentionally clicked on them to select them.

Issue: Total Target Loss Due To Mouse Button Losing Focus and Reacquiring It Quickly Over Empty Area of the Screen

  • However, disabling right-click targeting and interaction has simply made the issue of a new target stop happening, the issue of losing your target due to the glitch in mouse focus persists. Now we just have target loss due to the quick un-click and re-click of the right mouse button over an empty area of the screen which deselects the current target; instead of both target loss and random friendly selection.

Skills for 1-5 buttons

in Suggestions

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I suppose one way to lessen how (possibly) taxing adding a new, alternative skill to each weapon skill available would be for ArenaNet developers, is to have Weapon Skill #5 be the only skill to have an alternative, at least for quite a while. That sounds to me like a nice way to add a touch of variation to weapon mechanics for classes while also not being too demanding on a balancing requirement; especially if the alternative is an existing skill for the same weapon from a different class.

Like:
Ranger – Short Bow – Weapon Skill #5: Concussion Shot
(Daze your foe with an arrow. Stun them if you hit from behind or from the side)

Alternative form could be:
Thief – Short Bow – Weapon Skill #4; Choking Gas.
(Fire an arrow that fills the target area with a poisonous cloud)

Or:
Guardian – Greatsword – Weapon Skill #5; Binding Blade
(Throw blades at your foes, causing damage over time. Bound foes can be pulled to you. The effect ends when a foe moves out of range)

Alternative form could be:
Ranger – Greatsword – Weapon Skill #4; Counterattack
(Block and counter an attack with a kick that pushes foes back)
This one would be of especially good use for guardians using greatsword, I feel, as it would blend so well with the existing greatsword weapon skills of this class.

Adding an already familiar skill to being available to replace Weapon Skill #5 for another class would add just a touch of needed variation and freshness to builds in all modes of gameplay, while also not taxing developers on creation and (as many) balancing issues that may be a result of a full spectrum of alternative weapon skills across all classes.

Male Ranger Gemshop armor mask bugged

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

This happens with other masks as well, like the “PvP Outlaw’s Mask” (i don’t know the pve name). But this does not occur with every face, only with certain ones, like some faces have a longer nose.

True, though face selection and nose tip length during character creation shouldn’t have any relation to this issue if those who were responsible for mask coverings had done them logically with the foresight to consider that this may become an issue. Just as some helmets completely remove an Asura’s ears (which disgusts me) (and other armor items with other body parts) to prevent clipping through the item, masks should remove noses from even displaying just for this exact reason. So much of the clipping seen with body parts clipping through armor items could be eradicated simply by having the item hide whatever part of the character model it is in contact with, as almost all mmorpg games in history seem to have done.

What GW2 is missing in my opinion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I loved your post, LFk. Thank you for writing out your thoughts and feelings.
Personally, I limit myself to a single waypoint use each day. Usually I make my way out from one of the major cities, adventure with no destination in mind for 3-8 hours depending on what day it is, and then I waypoint to the nearest major city when I am done for the day/night. Other times I waypoint really far away from a major city and then make my way back to it while adventuring, but with a destination in mind. I also play with my interface turned off much of the time. I don’t use any portable merchant, bank, TP summons at all on my journey, though I do ship off items from my bags to the TP from time to time, however, I never deposit any ‘collectibles’ items to my bank and I also sell my ‘junk’ at the merchants I pass along the way.

It is so easy to get caught up in and become numb to the level of instant gratification, removal of challenges, hindrances to ‘progression’, and fixation on the next destination imposed by these elements that speed up and lessen the enjoyment of the gameplay, that I try to remove those distractions so as to better appreciate each moment in the gorgeous world. But some things, no matter what I do, I cannot hide from their forcing themselves in upon my time playing…like the right mouse button losing focus bug that has never been addressed. No matter what I do, I cannot hide from that sabotaging element when it strikes, and it is usually impossible to even attempt to continue playing at all for that day due to how completely and instantly it destroys any fun I was having in the game.

I don’t think there are many others that play this game the way I do, or get out of it what I get out of it. I’m not saying it is a perfect game (it’s far from what I consider perfect), but I need to do what I can to make myself focus on what does make it great fun and an enjoyable experience. I also work constantly to limit my exposure to the elements that continually remind me of how I feel the game, in some respects, seems to be going in a very bad direction, though I am trying to stay positive about it.

Skills for 1-5 buttons

in Suggestions

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The reason for not having more 1-5 skills is indeed a balancing problem. Adding more skills will only make things more complicated.

More complicated in WvW and sPvP, yes, but why do PvE (open world as well as ‘dungeon’) players have to suffer from this same imposed limitation on skills? PvP modes and PvE should be completely separate. When a change is made in the name of ‘balance’ to PvP modes, why are such changes to traits, utility skills, and weapon skills also forced onto PvE players?

Necro - Minion Acquisition and Management

in Suggestions

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

continued

But, with more minions summoned, the less control the necro has over them.
1 Summon:
F1 – Heals Summon #1
F2 – Special ability for Summon #1 much like the F2 ability on ranger pets.
F3 – Sacrifice the minion and cause a poisonous explosion at their location.
F4 – Sacrifice the minion for its life force (remaining health) to fuel death shroud ability instead.

2 Summons: By having 2 minions, the necro forgoes the special ability for Minion #1.
F1 – Heals Summon #1
F2 – Heals Summon #2
F3 – Sacrifice a random minion and cause a poisonous explosion at their location.
F4 – Sacrifice a random minion for its life force (remaining health) to then use for healing the remaining minion or to use as fuel for death shroud ability instead.

3 Summons: By having 3 minions, the necro forgoes the poisonous explosion ability.
F1 – Heals Summon #1
F2 – Heals Summon #2
F3 – Heals Summon #3
F4 – Sacrifice a random minion for its life force (remaining health) to then use for healing remaining summons or to use as fuel for death shroud ability instead.

Or simply limit it to 2 max summons and maintain the F3 and F4 functionality defined above in the 2 Summons area. Can also have it to where the initial summoning of a minion uses half of the life force bar, as needing life force to summon a minion makes sense. So the necro can choose to use the life force to create a new minion, to use it to heal an existing one, or sacrifice an existing one and then summon a new one if there is enough life force in reserve.

I make this suggestion primarily as a plea for the dark, necrotic side of the Necromancer to make its return. It deserves it. For the existing players that like how summons work currently, during character creation of a new necro, what way they want minions to be (current vs proposed) could be tied to a selection:

Current: “I wield the souls of creatures granted to me by X god.”
Proposed: “I dominate and control the souls of creatures of my own choosing.”

However, under the new minion acquisition and management, several skill unlocks would no longer exist that relate to the existing minions; e.g. minion summoning skills. So it might not be possible to allow existing necromancers to switch to the proposed form of minion acquisition and management, though I believe that it can be worked out to allow switching via a trait to where those summon skills are replaced with other minion related skills.

I know there is still a lot to work out on details and balancing, but it should only be implemented into PvE for starters and not in PvP modes as it could introduce a lot of issues with the existing balance for those modes of play.

However, I still believe that the changes that have been made in the name of balance in PvP and WvW should not have also been forced onto PvE players. I understand you have your reasons for lessening the ranger short bow range to 900 for PvP/WvW recently (though I don’t know what those reasons could be), but why was it implemented into PvE as well? These modes of play should remain completely separate from eachother; different skills and different traits ideally, but all changes to PvP should not have any effect on PvE, just as the opposite should be true.

Anyone have additional thoughts or comments on this idea?

Necro - Minion Acquisition and Management

in Suggestions

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I may be in the minority, but I really do not enjoy the way minions are handled in GW2, especially since it was so incredible in GW1.

I understand that there are reasons for why resurrecting minions from corpses was not implemented in GW2, but I feel that the way minions are currently handled is not ideal and is also lacking in depth. There is a lot of potential still to be had with the GW2 necromancer regarding minion acquisition and management over simply ‘buying’ a summon skill with skill points to summon one of the few predefined kinds; Bone Minions, Bone Fiend, Flesh Wurm, Shadow Fiend, Blood Fiend.

Imagine if, just as the ranger has to ‘charm’ a juvenile pet for it to be selectable in the pet management, that a necromancer would need to kill an enemy/adult animal and perform a 10 second ritual or something which summons a dead/death-touched version of it, thus binding the soul to you and being summonable in this proposed necromancer minion management. Necromancers could then be able to share the same pet control mechanics as the ranger in regards to controlling minions.

It wouldn’t have to be all types of animals that can be resurrected as the ranger has many of the same types of animals it can ‘charm’. Death form of animals could be one of each species; e.g. a feline, a drake, a spider, etc, but would look like dark, twisted versions of them…instead of just a reskinning, though I’d not complain about that if that were the case. Or it could have nothing to do with animals and be entirely focused on species like Centaurs, or Humans, or even turn a Risen to do your bidding.

Due to the increased control over minions (such as a ranger with directing their pet), being able to summon two or three minions at once would then be possible only to those necromancers who trait into minion controlling. To counter the OP nature of having three controllable pets, I would then like to see the return of the mechanic of minions constantly losing health and the need for sustaining your summons through sacrificing your own health, or better yet, your life force bar for death shroud. It would be interesting to have to choose between assuming death shroud or using the life force stored there through killing enemies to heal your minions.

And if you have two (or the max of 3) summoned minions, keeping the additional ones alive would be very taxing on your life force bar, so keeping and maintaining one or two would be ideal, but a third wouldn’t be impossible if there are plenty of enemies to fuel your life force bar. Even then, converting the life force into health for sustaining the minions could be attached to minion F-key skills with a cool down so you could only heal each of them so often.

The Hylek Flame cannons in Caledon Forest recently developed this issue as well. Right when they should die their bar stays all black/empty and my auto-attack continues to attack it for another 2-4 seconds, all the while it is not shooting at me and my shots are not making the ‘impact’ noise or any graphic of my arrows hitting them. It then finally disappears/dies and I receive no experience or anything.

Goemm's Lab causing players to be banned?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I don’t use Reddit or follow GW2 on any of those other 3rd party social media sites which is why I never really get any updates from ArenaNet…they don’t post any info on their own official forums. So, thank you for posting this serious ban ‘bug’ issue on here for us to see.

Also, since I do not use Reddit, etc., if something happens and I get banned by this flawless system due to some bug, I won’t be able to appeal my ban. Even if a ton of people get banned due to this bug, only if I make a huge stink on another website (since I wouldn’t be able to submit a ticket or post on here) and enough other people were also affected, then I am pretty much SOL.

Before this situation arose I would pretty much give new content a day or two before taking part simply because of the normal bugs that every single release has been plagued with. Now, not only will I be giving it the usual day or two, I actually may not take part in any new content at all due to serious issues such as this. Even still, doing existing content now scares the crap out of me since this was an existing jumping puzzle just with a bit of new content added for the current event.

This issue could have been much, much worse. I actually wouldn’t be surprised to see a bug in a new content release where all players are banned upon loading into the game due to some issue with more untested content (just look at how all accounts were turned into trial accounts recently…seriously, a bug that makes every person get banned on log-in is not that crazy an idea). That is how much faith I now have in the frequent releases of new content that are not tested out thoroughly; fear of even logging in to the game. We are not guinea pigs! And releasing new content and NOT testing it thoroughly beforehand leads to serious issues like this. Also, leaving no possible recourse or option for dialogue for those affected to have with the company due to total faith and reliance on an automated system is not how one should treat their customers.

~ Shadows are at “Low”, setting to “Medium” lowers fps by 3-8, setting to “High” lowers fps by 10-15, setting to “Ultra” lowers fps by 18-22
~ Setting Environment from “High” to “Low” gains 12-18 fps

Don’t be so quick to attack the GPU as being the culprit for low FPS. There are many adjustments you can make to improve your FPS without replacing hardware:

~ Try out the Catalyst version I use instead of the newest. I found I actually lose 25-40fps by using the newest.

~ Try running GW2 in Fullscreen Windowed Mode (I actually gained 15-20 fps by doing this).

~ Disable CPU usage limitations in your PC power plan settings in your control panel.

~ Unpark your CPU cores

“Disable CPU Core Parking Utility”
http://www.coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility

“What is CPU Parking (aka core parking, or CPU parking)?” – more info and another utility
http://bitsum.com/about_cpu_core_parking.php

“StinVec: THANK YOU for the information on core parking. Using the 2nd utility in your post, LA went from a bouncy 11FPS, AA off/shadows low to 21-30FPS AA on/shadows high. Steady 35FPS AA off/Shadows low.” – MeanPi.6025 from another thread

~ Try out gw.exe command line argument to force to gpu instead of cpu

-umbra gpu
“a lot of the issues with perf on this game seem to be related to anets use of umbra and how it was originally meant to work on gpu but umbra fornicated the canine and blamed it on Intel/AMD/nVidia saying it was their gpu drivers to blame for the problems….so umbra is running on the cpu…..you can force gpu mode with -umbra gpu” – Jazhara Knightmage.4389 from another thread
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments#-umbra_gpu

~ Disable hyper threading on your i5 CPU

~ Make sure your GPU is socketed into the PCI-E x16 slot and not the PCI-E x1 slot by mistake.

“check to see if ur PCI-E lane is running at atleast 2.0 at X16.
if u got a new motherboard and/or took out the graphics card and put it into a different PCI-E slot, u may be running at 2.0 @1x speed or 4x Speed which will allow the GPU to run at 100% but severely hamper its performance.” – SolarNova.1052 from another thread

“That solved it. Due to space restrictions, I had the graphics card plugged into the slower PCI-e port. When I managed to plug it into the faster port, I notice a huge difference, and the game ran perfectly even at maximum settings.” – Anodyne.5497 in response to that issue

Trading Post "Fees"

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

You can have player-to-player trading and still tax the items being traded, include taxes on the items in the player trading screens required to be included to complete the transaction. You include a weapon and a price in the screen, I enter the requested amount of coin and the tax is calculated based on what the requested amount of coin from you was and by my entering the requested amount and clicking Agree/Finalize, then the coin I agreed to plus the coin for the tax that was calculated is taken from my wallet. Coin goes to you, tax flies away on a bird, I get the item. When trading an item for an item, then the tax could be determined either by the trade screen running a quick query of the trading post for the values of the items, or based on a percentage of the vendor value times a predetermined value for the quality of the item (blue, green, rare, exotic, etc.) and both parties are then required to agree to pay their respective taxes and fees on the transaction.

Just some quick thoughts. I didn’t really think through all possibilities, but wanted to point out that it really isn’t a “one or the other” kind of scenario regarding player trading and trading post, both can exist in harmony, and in some ways is actually beneficial to the economy as not all items will be put on the trading post , so supply to the post will not be as extreme and prices will equilibrate to a more appropriate level on many of the over-stocked items that are now listed that net the seller less than vendor value of the items.

Thoughts?

Blah run-on sentence. Might edit and clarify later.

Search feature not working

in Forum and Website Bugs

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Search results do still seem inconsistent as some searches return some results (though still not from all pages it seems), while identical searches return no results. Unfortunately, it is also not returning all results matching the search criteria on the same page even.

Example:
Guild Wars 2 > Forums > Support > Game Bugs
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs

On Page 2 there is a thread called “Character Creation Issue”. (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Character-Creation-Issue-2) If you search from Page 2 (or even Page 1 of game bugs) for the term “character creation”, then the results shown do not include this thread. Even if you only search for “character” you will still not see this thread in the results despite the thread also including the word “character” within the body of the thread and not just in the thread title (checked just in case “search” was only searching message text instead of also including thread title text).

Constant Target Dropping Since Patch

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Mouse losing focus -right click to turn not working [Merged]
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Mouse-losing-focus-right-click-to-turn-not-working-Merged

The recently added option to ‘Disable Right-click Targeting’ has helped with the issue of selecting a nearby friendly target while moving your camera with the right mouse button, but it has done nothing to solve the issue of your current target being dropped for no reason.

However, disabling right-click targeting and interaction has simply made the issue of a new target stop happening. The issue of losing your target due to the glitch in mouse focus persists, only now we just have target loss due to the quick un-click and re-click of the right mouse button over an empty area of the screen which deselects the current target, instead of both target loss and random friendly selection.

In fact, most of the time that this issue is present (it is inconsistent), it actually loses and reacquires focus several times a second, which prevents character and camera orientation with the right mouse button and leaves the game in a completely unplayable state. Some days it is very bad and prevents you from even being able to play, other times it is only a couple times a minute, but leads to frustration and not playing the game the rest of that day.

Male Ranger Gemshop armor mask bugged

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

In addition to this mask, the Severed Breach mask still has the nose shoving through on female human. Sometimes it is worse than this screenshot shows and is nothing but a large white protrusion…had my mask white for a long time just to hide it/make it less noticeable.

Ethan, you might consider this mask also if it gets fixed, but even if it doesn’t, it’s still a real nice mask I use on my rangers.

Search feature not working

in Forum and Website Bugs

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I’ve tested and determined that the search is only searching the currently displayed page and not all other pages in the forum category page you are on. (I just saw that this was also the conclusion reached by others in another, similar thread)

Guild Wars 2 > Forums > Support > Game Bugs
Searching from here should search all pages of Game Bugs for the criteria entered.

Guild Wars 2 > Forums
Searching from here should search all forums pages for the criteria entered.

Please fix this as soon as possible as the search feature is heavily relied upon by many for navigating subjects of interest. It is also relied upon for verifying there are no pre-existing topics when looking to create a new thread, and may lead to many similar topics being created (especially since it is patch day).

Can't buy gems since patch?

StinVec.3621

Ok, we are looking into possible problems with the Currency Exchange. This doesn’t happen all the time. It is only when you try to trade with certain amounts. We don’t have all the information yet, but we’re investigating and I’ll let you all know when we believe we have it fixed.

Thanks for the report and thanks for playing!

Thanks for the help!

We’re still investigating this. I’ll reply when I have an update.

Thanks again,
Sarah

I like you, Janson Smalling and Sarah Witter. Your frequent and friendly updates on this matter while it was being sorted out was a very welcome sight. I hope to see more of such frequent input (from you both and from others) on other such matters of immediate importance as well as on those of lesser importance.

Just want to say thank you to you both.

Gem Store - Armors - Single Pieces + Mock-ups

in Suggestions

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

ArenaNet,

One of the biggest motivations for me to continue playing is the prospect of new armors to incorporate into my character’s styles as I romp around the world fighting things and doing events. Barely any new styles being offered at all since release, coupled with the mandatory ‘Full Set’ purchase requirement of these new armor skins, has left me feeling disconnected from Guild Wars 2. The new armor releases really energized my interest in the game again, though I was then disappointed to see the new armors being sold as ‘Full Set’ only. Due to this fact, I feel you may have lost out on many, many sales of individual armor pieces by choosing to plunk them down in the Gem Store as a Full Set purchase only.

I intended to purchase at least 23 individual items were they to have been released as individually purchasable items, but upon seeing that they were only offered as Full Set purchases, I decided to only get a single set that I still will not use all the pieces of. That’s 23 individual skin purchases at 200 gems (est) each, for a total of 4600 gems had they been offered individually. Instead, you’ve gotten 800 gems in total sales from me with these new skins. I’ve also seen many others hoping you would offer armor pieces individually, thus leading to your not making sales with them because they are not purchasing the full sets offered.

I want you to succeed. I want you to make sales. However, I do not feel you are marketing your items in the best manner to ensure the largest possible sales while fulfilling the desires of your playerbase. People tend toward being more inclined to make many smaller amount purchases over a single large one.

Here are some mock-up images I threw together tonight showing what would be really nice to have for armor skins in the gem store.

Based on 200 gems per individual piece, notice the cost (buy button) changes with each additional item. But when the 4th item is selected then the total becomes 800 gems, which is how much a full set costs, so it then notifies you that you can have the full set for that price. Since the full set is 800 gems, this is sort of a Buy 4 of a set, get the other 2 pieces free for those who wish to get the full set.

This would allow those who would like the same item for many characters to spend the extra gems to purchase the individual items, while also maintaining the 800 gem cost of the full set for those who just want the full set and not go mix ’n match.

Please consider this proposal. I feel it would greatly increase your sales, due to the projected massive increase of individual item sales over the fewer bulk item sales you are currently offering, while also making a large portion of your playerbase very happy.

Thank you for your consideration.

Aether Armor - you need 1 piece only? *laugh*

in Sky Pirates of Tyria

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I didn’t really expect them to be individual items, but I was hoping that they would have switched to making them available that way with these new armors.

Before the release of the armors today, I previewed all of them across my many characters to see how to integrate the new skins into their looks as well as looking at how they’d look on characters I have yet to make and outfit.

I decided that if they were individual skins then I would definitely get this many right away:
2 x Helms
5 x Shoulders
4 x Chests
7 x Gloves
1 x Legs
4 x Boots

That’s 23 individual skin purchases at about 200-250 gems each for a total of about 4600-5750 gems. And there were still several others I was considering getting for other looks for my existing characters, as well as for the unmade characters I would also buy more character slots for; asura ranger, charr warrior.

But since they are in complete sets at 800 gems per weight class, I will only be getting a single set that I would use most of the skins from. I have one empty character slot I picked up, so not really interested in grabbing a couple more to make some new characters and outfit them any longer.

One of the biggest motivations for me to continue playing is the prospect of new armors to incorporate into my character’s styles as I romp around the world fighting things and doing events. Loud Popping sound

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I’ve experienced the occasional loud “metal book falling on a stone floor in a large, silent library” sound since the game came out. It scares the total crap out of me almost every time, and sometimes it happens several times a minute, especially in Divinity’s Reach. I’m actually very fearful that one of these times it is going to blow out my headset and am surprised that it hasn’t already with how horrible and sharp a sound it is.

I’ve asked others in map-chat at the time it has happened in the world and in a ‘town’ such as Divinity’s Reach, and others have confirmed that they heard it at the exact same time I heard it, even with us being in totally different areas of the zone. So it isn’t really something local, but being sent to all clients within a zone. I don’t know if it is then tied to the music track glitching, as some have noted the issue of music cutting out or background chatter suddenly ceasing and then restarting a second later, but I can’t really think of another sound that is being sent to all clients in a zone at the same time. I may even be way off on thinking it is tied to the soundtrack.

I think it has something to do with a sound buffer issue, where it keeps trying to play a sound and fails, so when it finally does play the sound, since there is now a massive stack of this sound waiting to play, that it all plays at once and tries to kill us or our speakers.

edit – continued thoughts
Thinking about it a little bit more, now, I think it is probably related to opening up the trading post. Opening the TP while ‘in the field’ is something everyone does, and upon opening the TP, or changing tabs in the TP, we are presented with a click-like sound, though I have noticed before that I do not get that ‘click’ sound when changing tabs every single time or changing tabs quickly.

Could the awesomium_process.exe be stacking this missed sound up in the sound buffer and then something allows them to finally play? How could this then be experienced by many players in a zone if it is a local client issue?

I’m struggling with finding a logical cause for the ‘death-click’, but I think I’m getting closer to figuring it out.

Holo Wings Disappear During Some Skill Usage

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Is the back item incorrectly classified as a weapon to be hidden during some skill animations (like your weapons disappear during certain skill/chat animations), instead of as armor?

I haven’t done a thorough testing of what skills and on which classes this happens, and I’m not sure if this happens with other/all back items or with skills of other/all classes, but I know that during certain skill uses (throwing down traps) as a Ranger (and thief, I imagine) the Holographic Dragon Wings back item completely disappears for a second or two.

This may be due to the triggering of the ‘throwing down’ animation, but why would the back piece disappear unless the back item is incorrectly tied to weapon displaying, which is hidden during some animations, instead of as armor? So, when throwing a trap your weapons disappear while the animation plays…the back item is armor, not a weapon, and so should not disappear. With the back item disappearing during trap throwing, it would be equivalent to becoming completely naked or just having your boots disappear while throwing the trap if this issue was instead with another piece of armor that was incorrectly marked as a weapon to be hidden during the animation.

Tying this also into other animations, I’ve also seen back items disappear along with the weapons when “/dance”ing. I don’t know why “to prevent clipping” is the reasoning for their removal during this act, but I do not consider it to be valid; clipping during boxed animations is expected, this does not mean you remove all items that may clip. If you did hide all the items with major clipping, we would all be dancing naked as the armor does plenty of clipping while “/dance”ing.

-
I originally meant to simply mention the wings disappearing during trap throwing, but branched out to related issues while writing this. No need to give a response, I do not expect one. Just bringing an issue to your attention that you may be unaware of and also giving my opinion on a related topic.

Back to the game.

Can any new players attest to this?

I know I would be very confused if I just started playing GW2 and she believes she’s met me before during some content I never took part in. If this is the case, this would sadden me as that would mean this “recognition” (NPCs will remember you quote comes to mind) was nothing more than pre-written text as her response due to lack of time/effort by the person that wrote in her response, instead of making her actually remember you by checking your event participation achievements and then giving a customized message based on the query results.
A new player should get an introduction message with Kiel in LA.
One who participated in Southsun and had actually spoken to Kiel during that event should receive the recognition message.

Though, I still agree that it was a very nice and welcome touch regardless of how in-depth the recognition was implemented.

3-Step Solution to ALL our woes

Fantastic, Pixelpumpkin.

I agree with all you mentioned in your original post and the additional thoughts and clarification added by the rest of your posts in your thread. Just brilliantly thought out. Your mock-up image post was really great as well, especially when coupled with the additional mock-up image by Crazylegsmurphy.

I really like the idea of being granted a small reward for first testing out all of the new content to see what I enjoy or don’t enjoy and then encouraged to continue on enjoying that aspect of the update to eventually lead to acquiring the same greater reward as someone else who acquired it enjoying a different aspect of the content.

Implementing this method would really encourage me to fully participate, appreciate, and complete each update while also removing the negativity associated with grinding special event content for the reward…as doing content we enjoy wouldn’t be grinding.

I truly hope this exact method (with all of its fleshed-out tweaks so as to not break something else) is seen, considered and implemented by ArenaNet as soon as possible!

Very well done.

Have you tried to run gw2setup.exe again since submitting the error report?
If so, does it crash every time and are asked to submit a report every time?
Additionally, was it a windows error report or an arenanet error report you are asked to submit?

I would also suggest trying to right-click gw2.exe and then in properties selecting the checkbox in the Compatibility tab telling it to Run As Administrator and then to try starting it again.

As you stated you needed to do a fresh OS install, so perhaps your permissions are not configured as they were previously. I’m sure you are already logging into Windows as an Administrator account, but other permissions beyond that might not be configured.

Have you tried right-clicking and going to properties for gw2.exe and in the Compatibility tab marking it as Run As Administrator?

The prompt you mentioned about it requesting to allow gw2setup.exe to make changes to your computer is Windows UAC. I configured my PC with UAC off so I could suggest disabling UAC, though many will surely say to not disable it as many like the extra level of protection it provides. Anyway, since you already told UAC to allow gw2setup.exe to make changes then this is probably no longer an issue and I would say to try the Run As Admin option for gw2.exe I previously mentioned.

Character's movement

Agreed, this is yet another very annoying issue that is encountered several times a minute during gameplay. I don’t know if it is tied to graphical lag, game lag, server lag, skill lag, or any other lag that this game is suffering from, but not being able to move forward when you intend to move forward really is horrible.

I’ve also noticed on my ranger that when using Skill #3 with the shortbow (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Quick_Shot), it is supposed to launch you backward a medium distance to escape from your enemy that’s in your face, but many times it does the animation partway (similar to the stuck movement animation) and I end up in the same spot as I started without moving backward at all. It’s like a slight lag spike or lagged animation so it breaks the movement intended by the skill.

Though it could also be tied to the same ongoing and serious issue of the mouse button no longer registering as being pressed for turning the character/camera despite never releasing the mouse button. Perhaps there is a glitch in coding to where, even though we are holding forward, it forgets that we are still holding the forward key and releases it due to some kind of lag/shoddy coding…though that wouldn’t explain the frozen in the first step of the forward movement animation seen with the issue you’ve raised.

Short answer is to not expect one. Serious and persistent issues tend to not be addressed or even acknowledged around here

Obstructed attacks

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

The serious issue of ranged attacks (especially mesmer Greatsword attacks) seemingly locking onto an area of the ‘hitbox’ of creatures that is below the surface (resulting in obstructed messages) has been brought to ArenaNet’s attention several times since the game went live (and I believe also during beta). ArenaNet chose to not only not fix the issue, but chose to not even acknowledge its existence or give any response regarding the issue at all.

Maybe they finally will to your reporting of the issue. Here’s to hoping.

In addition, they’ve also not fixed (nor acknowledged, I believe) the ‘line of sight’ issue for rifle and arrow shots from Rangers (though not sure about it existing for non-pet classes):
When the pet is positioned directly between the ranger and the target being fired upon, even though the projectile is seen to go far above the pet and actually strike the target, we are given a mixture of the ‘obstructed’ and ‘out of range’ error messages (even if the target is only feet away) due to the pet seemingly blocking the shot that actually went above its head.

Dragon Bash achievement is still 10?!

Really? People are getting upset because this thing is bugged? What about playing the game instead of complaining? I have 9 achievements done… I don’t care if I still didn’t get my wings. I’m having fun, and isn’t that what a game is supposed to be about? I don’t understand why people would stop playing the game because of bugs with the monthly release. You paid once for the game, no one is forcing you to pay for gems and you don’t have to pay a monthly fee for playing, so you can take a few bugs… and these conspiracy theories are ridiculous.

Do you not see the irony in you complaining about people complaining?

Vanishing Risen Knights

First thing to do is make sure the friend you mailed the minis to does not have a full message box. Due to the ridiculously low maximum number of messages permitted in your message box (10) many messages will not be delivered until some room is made.

Make sure your friend deletes some ‘old’ messages, and if this is what was preventing them from delivering then they should finally get delivered.

We got them for free, so there’s no room to complain.

Speak for yourself. Not everyone got them for free, and even some who should have gotten them free still have not.

Dyes to go with Jade Weapons

in Dragon Bash

Given that the scales on the dragon upon the shield are of a faded kind of green, perhaps try out Tea Shade Dye or even Antique Olive Dye on your cloth areas.

Tea Shade Dye [&AgFkUAAA]
Antique Olive Dye [&AgHgTwAA]

In order for the different pieces to match I frequently need to use different dyes to have the same resulting color due to the way the dyes look on the different areas of armor and on different materials.

As for the bronze tone of the shield, I think it would be better to use a different dye on them to result in the desired shade when applied; e.g.

Boots: Brass Dye or Patina Dye
Gloves: Dijon Dye (since Peanut Butter Dye seems to give them too much of a rich color) or even Squash Dye.

Brass Dye [&AgH9TwAA]
Patina Dye [&AgFQUAAA]
Dijon Dye [&AgHvTwAA]
Squash Dye [&AgHbTwAA]

Here is a website with the dyes listed on it organized by shade that includes the chat codes so you don’t need to keep searching the TP for them to test out.

New POI in Divinity's Reach - inaccessible?

What’s more, I spotted a ‘sewer gate’ next to the new POI. I’m pretty sure it is part of the new content. But still, I also believe the POI is bugged.

I would like to mention that this sewer with eerie sounds has been there since the game went live, though maybe it will now have an interesting purpose and be used in the upcoming content.
