@Iruwen
@Liz
Just wanted to clear this up a tad. Apparently this has become a [merged] thread of other threads related to this new poi that is not bugged but is not an active part of the event yet and the mod who merged it did not add [MERGED] to the thread title. My initial response was to a thread that included no information whatsoever, and simply stated that there was a bugged POI and when would it be fixed yet did not include any information about what POI. As I thought they meant an actual bugged POI, and not the one that is not permitted access as yet due to that aspect of the event not being active yet, I gave a bit of a snippy response about how they should’ve included information if they would actually like help solving their issue. I know this probably didn’t need my explaining, just felt like doing it anyway as I had a minute free. I’ll try to not be as snippy in my responses and be nicer about mentioning what they could do to better their chances of getting help in the future.
Also, Meep owes me 10g or 4 feathers…and Muggo cheats.
Looking forward to the mystery aspect of the events. TY Anet.

Perhaps you can’t, I have never had any problems with any of them in Divinity’s Reach.
I primarily use short bows, and for once I was looking forward to the jade short bow as being a smaller version of the longbow since this dragon longbow is so freaking awesome…then I was greatly disappointed.
Not only does the short bow not look like the longbow, but it barely has any visible dragon features other than the heads at the ends (yes, heads…plural) due to being completely covered up by these silver things hiding most of the bow…and to make it worse, the ‘handle/grip’ area is squared in 90 degree angles and wrapped tightly with brown string so it completely destroys any form of snake/dragon appearance.
So now I have a longbow skin just to have it despite my never using longbows. Only other decent looking one was the axe skin, but I rarely if ever use axes due to the skills for them really not being all that powerful/useful.

I couldn’t find the posts regarding this. But I just tested it myself, unable to drag soulbound items from bank to another character’s bag.
Anyone know any info on the topic of whether living story skins will make a return at some point?
You don’t drag the soulbound item from the bank to your other character.
You transmute the Item onto a White Account Bound Item, where it becomes account bound. You place that in the bank, and have your second character take the account bound item and use another stone to transmute it onto the piece you want.
I did this just last night.
The issue with Rox’s quiver, to my knowledge, is that there is no white back piece to serve as your transmute bridge.
Foehn, the best way I can see for you to put the Rox Quiver skin onto a back piece for a different character, since you only have one that is on a soulbound back piece, but want to use it on a different character, is to purchase a back piece skin combo pack that also includes a blank white rarity back piece, like one of the charr or quaggan from the TP (whichever is cheapest so long as it is the version that includes a back piece, and not the version with just the skin), as the included back piece should be account bound.
· While on the character that your Rox Quiver is soulbound to, open the charr/quaggan combo pack so you have both the skin and the basic back piece that the combo included.
· Open a transmutation stone and drop in both your quiver and the blank back piece.
· Select the graphic of the Rox Quiver
· Select the blank/empty stats of the basic back piece from the skin pack.
(If your existing back piece has stats, then be sure to not include the stats from it, but select the non-stats of the blank account bound back piece you got from the charr/quaggan combopack.)
· Not sure if you have a gem or something on your existing pack, but I don’t know if including it will make a difference as the blank pack probably doesn’t have a level requirement so it might not even let you select the gem if you do have one on your souldbound back piece.
· Hit Transmute.
This should make it an account bound blank item with the Rox Quiver skin.
I’m not sure, but I think the skin for the charr/quaggan back piece can now be resold onto the TP without the back piece included, which is how there are some on the TP that do not include the back piece with them…I think. Not sure on that part.
Then, since your Rox Quiver is now on a back piece with no stats and is account bound, you can drop it in your bank and pull it out with your other character that you want to use the quiver on.
I’ve not been in this exact situation before with the back pieces that you seem to have found yourself in, but I hope this works out for you if you choose to try it. Though, if it does not work out as I mentioned it might, please do not hold me responsible as I am just throwing out some ideas to help you out.
Anyone else see any problems with the possible solution I’ve laid out?
(edited by StinVec.3621)
I mentioned this elsewhere today, but it’s probably more fitting in this discussion.
The only thing that seems logical, to me, to justify the fact that there has not been a single new armor skin released for players to acquire since the game was released (other than the Karka Shoulders and Flame & Frost Gloves that are identical for all armor weight classes), is that they must be working on a ‘DLC-like’ package of armor skins made available through the Gem Store around the 1-Year Anniversary of GW2.
I expect it to be similar to how the Digital Deluxe Edition is available in the Gem Store already; you can buy the pack and it will be like a permanent upgrade to your account. Perhaps purchasers will be mailed an account bound device that summons a merchant upon activation with the collection of skins available for taking that is similar to the Hall of Monuments Stone and merchant available there where you can select the soulbound skins to apply to your armor an unlimited number of times. This release could also be seen as a form of mini content expansion to appease those that expected a full expansion after one year.
The First Anniversary Armor Pack #1
Pack Includes 5 Sets (6-pieces each) of New Armor For Each Gender And Weight Type
5 Sets, 6 pieces each
Male/Female Styles
Light/Medium/Heavy Styles
Makes for 180 individual new armor items for incorporation into existing armor outfits.
Cost: 8,000 gems
That is the only justification for starving the playerbase of new armor aesthetics for a whole year that I can see as being logical from a business standpoint. I’m not saying I agree with that strategy, just that it is the only way I can make sense of their lack of introducing any new armor content since the game was released.
However, for many it will simply be too little, too late. I would also expect huge outrage on the forums at the cost for the armor pack. Though, even at a cost of 8,000 gems (acquirable through both gold and real money), that would only be about 266 gems per piece, for a total of 30 armor pieces. People are dropping 200+ gems per piece on Towns Clothes. I could see all the Towns Clothes releases as being a trial run for gauging the price for the armor pack were it broken down per piece. So don’t be surprised if it is 10,000 gems for one armor pack, being 333 gems per piece.
Though, 5 sets make 30 individual pieces, each piece with gender variations actually makes 60, then across three armor weights would mean a total of 180 potential new looks to add to armor outfits. 8-10k gems doesn’t sound quite as bad, as it would only be 44 gems each at 8k, 55 gems each at 10k for having those 180 new armor items. Though, understandably, not everyone would be buying the armor pack for all of the armors included; perhaps they only really like 2 of the armors in the pack, or just a few pieces of the 5 sets for a mix n’ match style. And that is if they only release one armor pack, let alone Armor Pack’s #2 and #3 at the same time…which I would see as unlikely as it could be counterproductive to maximizing sales, though releasing 2 or 3 packs at the same time would cause people to burn through their gold converting to gems and force them to have to buy gems with real money to acquire the packs or be forced to wait weeks or months until they get enough gold again to get another pack.
Gem Prices
8000 = 100.00 USD
A hundred bucks does sound like way too much initially, but when you consider 180 skin variations it actually works out to about 0.55 cents for each armor variation. And since I’m sure many of us have several characters of different genders and armor weight types, it would seem much more likely that most of those 180 armor items will be used and 55 cents each would not sound too unreasonable to most, especially when you can use gold to pay for some/all of those 8k gems. Don’t get me wrong, I’d probably not cough up 8k gems, personally, but 4-5k for a pack I’d consider.
Oh well. I have a lot of thoughts on this subject, and the lack of aesthetic armor choices being released is the primary subject for which my continuing patronage of GW2 is pivotal.
I’m not saying that this is what will happen and to expect it, just that this wouldn’t surprise me and would actually make sense, to me, for their lack of armor releases to date.
I’ve had this before as well.
Though, do you mean right-clicking their name in the chat box, or right-clicking on their portrait after you’ve targeted them? I’ve encountered it in both cases, but wasn’t sure which you may have encountered.
From day 1 of live I noticed this as well. Very annoying.
I’ve also noticed the ‘cease auto-attack’ range issue for any distance weapon (pistol, rifle, bow, mesmer greatsword, scepters, blah, blah, blah). Ranger’s short bow Skill #1 (default auto-attack) has a max range of 1200, but if you are between 900/1000 and 1200 you have to manually fire your weapon even though it is on auto-attack. I’ve just gotten so used to having to constantly hit my Skill #1 fire button all the time, despite it being on auto-attack, due to it constantly stopping to auto-attack at that range, as well as due to random untargeting issues, stopping auto-attack when I get rooted, stopping auto-attack when I dodge, stopping auto-attack when I drop a trap, and just generally unexplained and random occurrences of auto-attack stopping. I don’t even acknowledge this game as even having an auto-attack anymore due to all the bugs associated with it that prevent it from working most of the time.

Wait a sec…are we no longer able to transmute a skin onto a white or blue, thus making it account bound so we can have that skin available to our other characters? Was this ability removed? Can you link where you saw this functionality as being ‘corrected’ please? Or did you not mean to imply that it was a bug that has now been corrected and documented as being ‘fixed’ someplace and instead found out the hard way in-game that this method no longer works?
I’m tempted to try it out in-game again just to see if it still works like that, as I’ve not had reason to perform this action for a few weeks. I heavily rely on this ability for new characters, that’s why I hang on to all my old armors, for them, so I don’t need to buy new armors and instead use a few transmutation stones.

While you do have a shovel equipped, hitting your interact key is not how you dig the hole, just how you are informed of needing a shovel for the hole. You have 3 skills on your weapon skill bar when you have a shovel equipped, I believe the third one (with an image of a hole being dug on it) actually digs the hole you are near and it should mention this in its tooltip. The other two are offensive uses for the shovel.
It is in fact people on the rocks and whining? This is a new issue, people have been on the rocks since the event opened up. Please use less inflammatory language to describe the people who are trying to prevent someone from taking away their chances at some payoff for the time invested in the event, simply because “it’s how the skills are intended to work”.
And to top it off, those of us “Whiners” who don’t wait on the rocks, but instead will wait behind the instigator or off to the side, many of us were denied loot, too.
It is not a new issue, it has been occurring since the start. You may not have experienced it from that point, but it has been happening since then.
I did not use any inflammatory language to describe people that stand on the rocks outside of the theoretical scaling detection zone. I did, however, use intentionally non-inflammatory language to describe them based on their documented behaviors and quoted choices of words against those dropping traps. Yes, they are whining. One who whines is, by definition, a whiner. Much worse could be said of them and their behavior.
I stated nothing of there also being people who are whining and are also not on the rocks. Did you just confirm that there are also people in the battle area who whine as well? I did not include them in that statement as I specified those on the rocks, you included them.
Perhaps those that are not up on the rocks should encourage those that are to come down to the actual area where the Instigator spawns to potentially prevent improper scaling from occurring.
I also did not state that those who were not on the rocks and were actually within the spawn area, yet happened to be unable to target the Instigator to take part in the improperly scaled event, were whiners or to blame whatsoever.
All who are denied the chance to take part in the combat due to their distance from the improperly scaled event is extremely unfair and very disappointing. I myself have missed out on taking part even though the fight began at the time I waypointed to Kiels and was unable to make that short distance to the fight before it was over.
However, the less than adequate targeting system is no excuse if you are in the area waiting for him to spawn. You do not need to actually target and attack the Instigator directly to get credit for taking part and receive the chest. Attacking the settlers grants equal participation to attacking the Instigator. If you insist on receiving a chance at his body granting loot, then there are many skills and abilities that any person can activate, regardless of class, that are active without having a selected target…just use them in his general direction and the power of odds that one hit will land is greater than not.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
Personally, I do not think it is the aoe trap placed on the spot where he spawns that is causing the improper scaling issue.
Notice how everyone hangs out on the rocks? I feel that the area of detection (box?) that is used to scale the instigator is not large enough and does not encompass the area of the rocks where the majority are at.
And since everyone is back on the rocks out of this scaling box when he spawns and is scaled due to the instant triggering of the trap, that he is then improperly scaled.
So it is not the necro/ranger/thief dropping traps that is causing the improper scaling, it is, in fact, those hanging out on the rocks and doing the whining/incorrectly passing blame that are causing the improper scaling.
Anet needs to properly define the area of the scaling detection to include the rocky area where the majority hang out waiting for him to spawn.
Thank you for correcting the missing deposit aspect of these minis.
ArenaNet, is there a reason that the Southsun Cove mini drop of Lady Kasmeer Meade (and the other mini drops from Southsun Cove I am assuming) does not have a storage space among the other minis in our banks?
If this is just an oversight, would you please add a slot for her (and the others?) to the mini area of our bank storage?
If this was not an oversight and was actually intended…what is the reasoning behind not allowing her/these mini to be stored in the bank and would you please consider adding this functionality to them of being storable?
(edited by StinVec.3621)
You do not have to buy the transmutation crystals through the gem store, or at all; do zone completion, do your personal story, you have a chance at getting some through those reward chests. I’ve never once bought lvl 80 transmutation crystals from the gem store yet I’ve never run out of them. I still have like 13 of them sitting in my bank, and I use them quite a lot with my having several level 80 characters that I outfit freqeuently as well as transmuting level 80 item skins onto my new characters at level 15 so I have the look I want from pretty much the beginning.
I’ve brought this up on the forums months ago and no rep from Anet responded and nothing has been done to fix it. I also reported it in-game a dozen times.
I’ve since stopped reporting bugs as they are never fixed or even acknowledged here on the forums (I don’t think they even read most of this stuff), so please don’t expect them to do anything about this clearly messed up sorting aspect of upgrade components. This would be shameful to still have this even in late-beta stage of development, let alone over 9 months post-launch.
I played GW1 for years, and I have played GW2 since day 1 of live…however…
In GW1 I have a character from several years ago named Myst Opportunity and, despite being told that our character names were reserved, and the huge hassle that came with that, from day 1 I tried to make Myst Opportunity here in GW2 and it said the name was already taken. So, yeah, so much for reserved.
This may have also been due to support having no clue how to help me with linking my accounts so they weren’t actually linked for several days after day 1 of live. But as of day 1 of live my supposedly “reserved” name was already taken by someone else.
So, thanks for that, really set the tone :\
Whoever got my Myst Opportunity, hope you like it.
Otherwise, all my character names are not funny at all or a play on words other than my thief named Die Version Tactics. I prefer to be creative with my names and create a unique name to give them a bit of personality and history.
Our development team reviews play input on a regular basis. They are aware of this suggestion, but have not yet reached a decision on what changes, if any, they will make to targeting.
There is a lot going on right now with the upcoming event, but after that, the team will take a look at a lot of different game elements, and may make some changes in the future.
Sorry I don’t have more specific information, but you can be sure this is not being ignored or rejected without due consideration.
Thanks for understanding.
6 months…really? Will it be another 6 months of more silence on this mind-bogglingly easy to fix issue? It has easily been that long since anyone has responded in the Bug Forum version of this thread as well. If this isn’t a clear message of how much worth the voices of players carries, I don’t know what is.
I have played daily since launch, and I’ve done my best to still enjoy this game despite so many underwhelming and wholly disappointing aspects of ‘adjustments’ done to the game and lack of purchasable content offerings. I hope this is fixed within the next month, that’s about all I have left in me to continue dealing with this issue.
sigh ….please, ArenaNet…I fear for this game making it through summer intact.
Sorry, should have stated that I’m looking for a North American server.
It just feels like everyone on my server is too concerned about rewards. It’s like they completely ignore the fact that it’s a video “game” and simply relish in this elitist battle for who can achieve the best rewards the fastest. If their focus isn’t rewards then it’s WvW, both of which I’m am not looking for.
Just a crowd of people who enjoy the lore, characters, landscape and the thrill of adventure etc.
Tarnished Coast is where you want to be, preferably with a decent guild, because there are many of us out here who share your values.
Thanks, Vayne. I think I may be making a hop over to Tarnished Coast from Eredon Terrace in my last effort to maintain interest. PvE on Eredon Terrace is nearly non-existent, and as you may recall, I do not take part in WvW, PvP or dungeons. Some days I can go the entire day playing in almost every zone and barely run into one or two people outside of the Shadow Behemoth farmers in Queensdale as well as Maw.
Necro is my profession/class of choice in every MMO I have played, especially in GW1. After my initial necro when the game went live, and the subsequent deletion due to how disgustingly and horribly they’ve butchered necros, I’ve tried to run a necro again 3 times since and have barely got them over level 20-25 before deleting them again.
I keep hoping that maybe, one day, they will fix them.
I also only play Open World PvE, no PvP/WvW/Dungeons and as of now I’m sitting on 2xWarriors, 2xRangers, 1xMesmer, 1xThief, 1xGuardian, 1xElementalist (which I loved to play before their adjustments for the sake of PvP also destroyed it being fun in Open World PvE…so it sits at lvl 53…unplayed, sadly).
Fixing Necro would be like adding a new profession/class to the game which, I feel, is desperately needed to keep interest in the game, especially with that one other MMO going F2P in June.
What I find interesting about that screenshot is that there are at least 12 messages in their inbox, yet it says 10/10.
Are messages sent regarding quests and storyline by the game not counted in the message count? I should hope for the sake of logic and common sense that they aren’t.
If they are not counted then, Aroswing, have your friend delete just personal messages until count is well below 10 if they would prefer to keep those game messages saved.
I’ve noticed I only have to sell approximately 15 items in quick succession before getting the error message
It generally takes me no more than 4 listings before I get that error due to the speed at which I check an item’s selling prices, go to sell the item, adjust selling price, and list the item. I have to consciously list very slowly so as to avoid triggering those dreaded red letters. It is, indeed, very annoying.
If you use a 3rd party program like this, I highly doubt you will “never ever” be in wvw. Everyone I know has been in it before, and even if you are in it for a short time, its still a short time of a huge advantage.
2,000 hours of game time logged and I’ve never once stepped into PvP or WvW and I have no interest in ever taking part in that aspect of GW2. Highly doubt all you like, your viewpoint is biased by your ‘everyone I know’ statement in that you don’t know everyone.
Also, I had requested the gw2zoomunlocker creator to release a version with only the first-person view feature with the zooming out unlock aspect removed. Haven’t heard anything back from him.
Gaile –
Would you be able to offer some insight as to why first-person view is not available in Guild Wars 2? I can not think of a logical reason for its absence. Thanks.

I must admit, I’m particularly disappointed. Usually they give us a month or two to calm down after the RNG boxes.
Notice the skins this time are also account-bound, much like the Fusion weapons. I have a bad feeling…

Why do I even bother coming to this “Official” GW2 site and these “Official” GW2 forums if this stuff isn’t even posted on here for actual players that purchased their game and we instead have to go to some outside, unrelated social media site to get information about changes to a game we paid for?
I think I just answered my own question. I won’t be going to those sites, but I guess there’s also no reason to come here either. :\
“…but only one attatchment per post it seems”)
I noticed that it was not reviving as well. Several weeks ago was the last time I attempted to use it, but I’ve since given up on it being fixed and as it is yet another bugged skill I’ve just thrown it aside with the others that don’t work properly or at all.
Also, what the heck was their reasoning behind removing pet’s Search And Rescue skill from reviving dead players in Open World PvE? If it was yet another attempt to balance skills for PvP, why should it also be changed for Open World PvE as well? Seriously upset about that as now Nature’s Renewal is completely useless, and Search & Rescue is barely useful at all in that it can only be used on downed, not dead, players.
ArenaNet, Open World PvE is NOT PvP! Your messing with skills and traits for PvP reasons should not, in any universe, affect gameplay of PvE players! sigh
And then there’s this also!
Is that a freakin’ panda hoodie-hat with dangle paws?! Aww…
I still don’t understand why much of what is designed and in game on NPCs is not available to players. :\
I mentioned this in another thread regarding a random NPC in Lions Arch that says “By Ogden’s Hammer, what savings!” and I attribute this to being a direct relationship to this scene from Galaxy Quest:
StinVec: THANK YOU for the information on core parking. Using the 2nd utility in your post, LA went from a bouncy 11FPS, AA off/shadows low to 21-30FPS AA on/shadows high. Steady 35FPS AA off/Shadows low.
Poor laptop will probably blow a gasket but GW2 looks even purtier.
OP, hope you can solve your problem. <- You solved it, congrats!
:) I’m glad it has helped you to get better performance.
I tend to enjoy anything the Skritt say, but I especially enjoyed Rikkiti’s questline:
“Deputy, Deputy!”
“Yes, what is it Rikkiti?”
“Sheriff want shinies back. Rikkiti get shinies! Teach Hyleks stealing bad.”
“And did our ineffectual sheriff offer any thoughts on how precisely we might accomplish that?”
“Yes… no… what?”
“(sigh) Sheriff say how we get shinies back?”
“Oooh! Deputy talk like Rikkiti stupid! Rikkiti not stupid!”
“….”
“Sheriff not say how we get shinies back!”Or, later on in the quest:
“Rikkiti! Procure the purloined goods!”
“Get shinies?!”
“Yes, yes, get shinies.”
“Shi-hi-hinyyy!”
Followed by that crazy adorable Skritt laugh.
I friggin love Rikkiti. That “…” pause makes me laugh so hard every single time I hear it.
Skritt are just so awesome.
I like when you’re capturing skritt in a tunnel with the golem and one skritt asks if it can have a shiny piece on the golem, and the golem says that it is a required piece of equiment to retain functionality or something. Love it. Though the golem saying, come little skritt, I have candy…we can be friends…kind of weirded me out.
Random NPC in Lions Arch: “By Ogden’s Hammer, what savings!”
I laughed so hard when I first heard that NPC say that. I then quit the game and watched Galaxy Quest again.
“Damaged” and “Broken” are not the same things. As you can see in your screenshot, on the right there is a checkmark for “Damaged Equiment” but not for “Broken Equipment”.
A cracked red shield simply shows that piece of equipment is damaged, it does not mean that there is a broken piece. Hovering on the cracked red shield on your red orb health display (when you manage to get it to pop up) shows yellow armor pieces for damaged, and red armor pieces for broken.
According to them, you don’t start to see decreased stats until an item is “broken”. You must allow a piece to get completely broken (red highlight, not yellow on the equipment popup graphic) and you should get the hint checkmark upon being shown the graphic that includes a red “broken” piece.
Basically, let yourself be completely mauled by enemies and killed until at least one piece goes from yellow (damaged) to red (broken).

Ah, thank you.
I had seen that video before, but it is very generic. I can see why they dropped it in favor of the launcher they use now, due to how patching is done in GW2 as opposed to how it was on-demand content downloading in GW1. It was just that I see people speaking so highly of this old screen and how amazing, incredible and creative it was, I was expecting something amazing, incredible and creative and worth speaking highly of. Oh well.
I agree though with the sentiment that both the launcher and the character select screen are begging for some creative and graphical attention.
I think the part I bolded says it best…
As far as housing (be it guild or personal) goes, I thought that was supposed to eventually be the whole point of the “home district” in each racial capital?
Agreed.
Also, I would love to see selective player housing ala Districts of Makathran in Peter F. Hamilton’s Void novels (Dreaming Void, Temporal Void, Evolutionary Void). Divinity’s Reach already screams Makathran to me, which is why I walked around the city for my first three days in-game.
I would love to have a few choices of which section of the city I could choose for where my housing is located. It would really make Home Districts feel more like a home and give more reason to spend time wandering in the gorgeous cities away from just passing back and forth between the Bank and the Post.
Gw1 logging screen was and it’s the most beautiful log screen ever maded. Always changed whit next exp pack.
Also the gw2 old log screen was amazing, I don’t know why they changed.
Was this a beta character select screen you’re referencing? I’ve played from day 1 of live and the current character select screen is the only one I’ve ever experienced.
Can you describe this old GW2 character select screen? Or are you actually referring to the pre-game launch “Login/Patching” Launcher? Even still, was it a beta Launcher? As I’ve also only ever had the current Launcher since day 1 of live.
I’ve given up on expecting “Guild” wars to ever return to “Guild Wars”. Though perhaps ‘ever’ is too definitive of a word and I should say that I don’t expect it to return in any fashion for 2-3 years from now.
Seriously, who scraps the entire foundation to and even the name of the game when making a sequel and thinks it is a good idea? ::points at arenanet::
You should give Traihern’s (not sure if I spelled it correctly…the annoying tree dude in the personal story that end up taking over the story…that guy) dialog when you travel to the dream world. He talks about the guilds, and thee guild wars, and how they almost destroyed society. I don’t think we will see a return to that game style any time soon.
You’re right, “The Guild Wars”, lore-wise, is a thing of the past, but as a foundation-building game mechanic it was as much “Guild Wars” as the fantastic musical score continues to be in this incarnation of the game. I just find it very disconcerting, not so much due to GW2 not going in the direction I had anticipated or desired it to go in, or of the direction ArenaNet has taken it, but to the extent to which ArenaNet doesn’t seem to actually know what direction they want to take GW2 in. And even from what statements you can dig up of theirs stating what that ‘direction’ actually is for the game, as guarded and vague as they are, we’re not seeing those statements actually realized within the game. Guild Wars 2 feels stuck in ‘limbo’ to me, where it doesn’t know what type of game it is anymore. I attribute this void in direction primarily to ArenaNet seeming to be pulled in two directions. One direction is to allow for the next chapter in the wonderful story of Tyria to write itself into our hearts and to allow the game to grow into the MMORPG it could and should be, and deservedly so. While at the same time there seems to be a darkness that has taken hold of the directional reigns of the game, and from this seat of power it has focused its will toward shunning the destiny of the world of Tyria, and the characters and players in it, in favor of a much less poetic and epic a tale of mediocrity in offerings.
It is probably the writer in me over-dramatizing the situation, but it doesn’t change this feeling I have that there is something foul working its way through ArenaNet, and it’s leaving its sickened slime over much of all that it touches.
:)
Character select screen makes me sad because of how nice it was in GW1 and how awesome it could be in GW2.
:(
^^see? sad face

I agree, those would be great additions to character customization that I would not hesitate in picking up!
However, before I would buy them I would require the issue of the torso texture not matching the lower half of characters to be fixed. It’s pretty crappy that the issue of the textures at the waist-seam not aligning has been there for over 5 months. It’s nice that they finally bothered a modeler to tug down the model nodes (poorly) to get rid of the huge gap between the top and bottom at the navel, but in doing so they only did half of the job. My tattoo on my norn doesn’t match up at the seam, the glow pattern on my sylvari doesn’t match up at the seam…and that’s just with easily noticed misaligned defining surface characteristics, but even on plain skin the lighting doesn’t work properly as the bottom of the torso texture that is split at the navel is tucked into the bottom texture like a shirt.
ugh! Makes me more sad each time I go to play one of my characters with the stomach or lower back exposed.
Though to continue my sentiment in my first sentence, “Yes, please, Anet.”
The greatest headset I’ve ever gotten is the eDimensional Force-feedback Gaming Headset. Sound quality, bass – subwoofer in ears, mic clarity, settings utility with DSP 7.1 Virtual Speaker Shifter and other stuff…just fantastic. The bass and actually feeling it in your head is amazing. Read up on it and see if it’s what you’re wanting in a headset. I’ve frequented both a TS2 and a TS3 server for many years with friends and the sound has always been great and without issues.

You can find them for about $30 USD on other sites instead of the $80 from the manufacturer site. I got my first one from newegg.com when the first version came out many years ago, then I recently grabbed the newer version from Geeks.com for $30.

I’ve had a (nearly) $150 headset in the past that I stopped using because of how much I loved these. I’ll not be getting a different headset for a long time.
For $30 or so it’s worth it to try them out without spending a ton on another headset.
Anyway, hope you try them. If you do, I’d like to know what you think of them. Good luck in your headset search.

I agree. From the first day of release until now it has been a constant struggle to keep track of where my cursor is as it matches in with almost every surrounding. During fights I want to lay down a trap or something where my mouse cursor is positioned at but it takes several seconds as I have to move my cursor to the top left of my screen just so I know where it is and then move my cursor to where I want to cast the skill at. It’s a very annoying and constant problem for me.
ArenaNet:
I request an option to be added to the Options menu for selecting a color overlay for the mouse cursor please. It can be a slider bar with only a few options of colors, or allow us to click a color just like in character creation when selecting a skin color or Sylvari glow color. It should be extremely easy to simply copy the format over and add the functionality to it. Please, I beg you.
I refuse to call any of my many characters “toons” … and the term “altoholic” does not have its place in this game since it is unlike other mmos.
Our goal is to get to a point where on a regular basis, the world around you is not only changing in the short term through our normal event system, it’s changing and evolving permanently through our living world releases as well. What you’ve seen so far is primarily some tests and warmup stuff while we in the background organize the company to support this exciting future for our game, the future for living world is filled with endless possibilities.
Enjoy the ride!
Could we get events in the living world that are long term fail-able please?
Such as maybe server A B and C were able to complete such Living World event, thus saving zone 1 but servers X Y and Z were unable to complete said event in time and now zone 1 has a lasting ‘stain’.
I think this idea would be extremely cool. It takes what you said and runs with it a little. I know that this would bring a lot of depth to guesting.
It would be cool to guest to another server and (kessex bridge for example) instead of defending the bridge against centaurs, we’re fighting off (for lack of a better idea) branded who are trying to take it over.
It wouldn’t have to be too extreme, the same events, the same landscape(ish) but with some destruction, scorched earth/branded crystals. All the events could even run exactly the same except have the mobs interchanged.
Any chance for something like this to happen? It’d be so cool if in ~1 years time some servers could be visually different from each other because of it.
Best comment in this thread. This is actually what I was initially expecting from GW2 in regards to a dynamic world with dynamic events, but since the success or failure of all aspects of the world do not leave a lasting mark on it, there is less motivation to participate as nothing you do (or do not do) has any lasting effect on the world. Yes, failing a dynamic event can cause a bridge to crumble which forces players to have to go around the gorge, but that’s just an event timer away from being rebuilt without player participation. I’m not unhappy with what GW2 offers, I think I was just expecting a bit too much at the start. In time I would love to see what you’ve suggested be adopted into the game by Anet, It would be truly groundbreaking.
lol hi there glad you enjoy it.
1. Don’t pay attention to forums on any mmo is the general rule and alot of the negativity thats sprouting currently is being produced from the upcoming update. Nerfs etc. you know the deal :I
2. Reasons anyone should love this game
3. I am also a fan of the graphic setting but what blows my mind is the detail implemented in the environments. Whether its in a town or desert. There are so many nooks and crannies to explore and sights to see. I don’t RP but if I did I would believe I have hit jackpot. (Dont forget those jumping puzzles ;D)
4. Content like the adventure box is what makes me love this game even more. Honestly how many mmos can you count go that extra mile to deliver something totally independent and entertaining of itself. Although people complain about “endgame” they seem to forget that the experiences that they have had in this game cannot be compared to anything else they’ve experience in an mmo.
5. Don’t we all.
6. In terms of pvp combat i am a huge fan of how fast paced some of the fights can be. Sure there are imbalances here and there as well as some classes that need more diversity but in due time (hopefully). Another thing i love is that there is alot of room for skill and I find it funny how 2 dodges can completely change the outcome of a fight. Nothing is 100%.
7. Asura > Everything plain and simple…no debate…hmmm..you said human? WRONG!!
So yeah call me a fanboy or whatever just showing some positivity is all
My first character was a thief. On launch day I spent it and the next 2 days walking (literally walking) around Divinity’s Reach admiring the architecture and the atmosphere. It was gorgeous. And on the third day I went ‘outside’
Such a beautiful game.
So far the top three people on these forums whose opinions I respect are Vayne, tolunart and Tengu. I don’t agree with everything each of them says, but they offer insight and logic with the majority of their comments they make, and their opinions are of value to me. Thank you for that.
As for the topic.
I do not to PvP.
I do not do WvW.
I do not do dungeons.
I am strictly and open world PvE player; I level, I gear, I develop my appearance, I participate in events, I walk around Divinity’s Reach and the world taking pics and appreciating the gorgeous landscapes and atmosphere. I’ve enjoyed doing all of that and have non-stop over my 1,416 hours and 31 minutes of play time with my many characters. However, long ago I lost interest in leveling my Elementalist as it just seemed to play differently one day. A few months later I returned to her and it still felt really awful and I just couldn’t function completely solo with her anymore as I just seemed to be extremely weak.I will give her another go and adjust to whatever changes may affect her abilities after this patch. If I can’t adjust, then back to one of the others for a while, it’s not a big deal to me.
Well hey there. You’re one of the people I keep talking about. People who prefer open world content and just enjoy the journey. There are so many more of us than dungeon runners and farmers think. We really are legion. We just don’t talk on forums much, so thanks for speaking up.
Out of curiousity, have you ever tried playing in the world with your map markers off?
:D \o_
Hello
I actually make it a habit to go with my HUD off for a while each time I play to really take in the feel of the environments and immerse myself into the atmosphere. It also makes battle scenes more exciting! I also keep some zone appropriate weapons on hand so I’m not 1-shotting enemies when I’m in a low-level zone since I am usually pretty decked out and down-scaling doesn’t work as well as it could. I aim to assist players in the areas if we’re together, not show them up. I cycle targets so as to not rip up enemies, disable auto attack and pace my shots and/or only use a pet to attack so I ensure those around me are able to get some hits in and get credit/loots.
We’re in the world together, as in real life, cooperation without ego for the benefit and fun for all is my goal.
IronPlushy, I love your name, and I like what you wrote here and agree completely with it. I’ve felt a little sour toward different things with GW2 not being addressed, but they haven’t stopped my enjoying the game, though they have hindered it off and on for a little while.
Thank you for your happy post.
Your server has benefited by your being on it.
