All the points you make could be made about all achievements and all titles.
Which I also believe most achievements should have always been character specific and not account-wide. Also, the entire title system is poorly implemented at best, in my opinion.
You get your title for map completing once. You get your star for map completing on that character.
Current method is fine, imo.
Ok, but why not? What would be the harm in making the star account-wide?
Titles are already account-wide, aren’t they? Why should this star be any different?
I am not answering for Esplen, just adding my thoughts on your question.
Personally, I feel that not all content should be account-wide. I also feel that, by keeping the world completion star as a character specific achievement, this is actually one of the very few alt-friendly aspects of the game as it offers an individual goal to achieve with each character. I believe that there is already too much content that is forced across all characters on an account, and that these elements seem to only lessen interest in creating and actually playing alts instead of the more common use of creating them simply for the purpose of being a mule to store stuff. There is already very little that encourages players to play through the game again on a new character, as well as there being very little content left in the game that offers an opportunity for actual “role playing”. Each new release and change seems to remove a little bit more of the individuality of characters, and if this behavior continues, then before long there will be very little, if anything, that remains in the game that offers a different playing experience for different characters.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
I like your post and I agree that your thoughts and recommendations on these issues would make for a more positive and rewarding time spent playing, especially as I am strictly an Open World PvE content participant/adventurer.
I agree completely with Esplen’s sentiment.
I will also note that I’ve not gotten 100% world completion on any character yet; it is just not that important to me. I am glad that it is the way it is for when I do, though.
Other threads reporting this as well. Watch them for updates to the issue if it eventually gets fixed.

One of the greatest and most surprising moments I had was when the game had been out for just a week or two. I was on my new charr and I had just come through the gate from Lion’s Arch to The Grove. While looking around and admiring the view, I suddenly heard a nearby NPC sneeze and say, “Ugh, there must be a cat nearby.” That was such a great moment, that it actually seemed that the NPC detected that I was a charr and that it reacted to my being there!
…but then I made a sylvari…
Not only did that same NPC also sneeze at me and say the same “cat nearby” statement, but there are at least a half a dozen NPCs in The Grove that say that exact same thing regardless of what species my character is. I even looked around for any NPC charr that this NPC was reacting to in a premade NPC interaction…nope, no charr anywhere. Just a random sneeze being blamed on a cat. Perfectly missed opportunity to show that the NPCs/world around you would react to your presence. A few lines of code was all it would have taken to make that experience genuine and leave an incredible impression on the player (me) and they didn’t even bother with doing that.
It’s the little things like that which disappoint me. There are plenty of good little things, but that particular ‘little thing’ really set the tone for me early on in the game.

Still on the list with the many other bugs that came about in recent game updates :\
Tracker – Living Story/Game Update Bugs
Prior to the Catcher back skins, all existing back skins were either tradeable or account bound, not both (unless the holo-wings skin acquired with jorbreakers from the merchant were also account bound, though I don’t think a single player in the game actually bought those with jorbreakers since that was 100k zhaitaffy for it to be known if they were account bound or not). This allowed there to only be one version of the back skin as well as only one space in the PvP locker for each back skin in the game; one item, one slot. So having this new item that is released in both forms with the way the system currently works, it should have been foreseen during creation that they would only have one slot in the PvP back skin gallery, but two skins.
The skin acquired from trading in Fortune Scraps is the Account Bound version and is made so to prevent players from buying the skin with scraps to then sell for gold, it is also the only version that can be deposited into the PvP Locker. As the two versions cannot be stacked with eachother, being two different items, yet both tradeable and account bound versions are desired to exist in the game, I see a couple of ways to resolve the issue.

And, for the records, the Ignore function is still not working.
Wait…there is an ignore function? I’ll have to look around for that with the hope that it will one day function again so I can use it.
I am experiencing all of the above mentioned “Error 503” issues as well.
Also, after editing my post, I am greeted with the contents of my post being replaced with a “Error 503” message within its body. A page reload displays my real post once again, but any changes I made were not saved.

The hair effects in GW2 aren’t too bad currently, but just think how they could look with TressFX.
TressFX is a technology for rendering hair using the compute power of your GPU. This technology isn’t vendor-restricted either (can run on both AMD and Nvidia GPU’s) and uses the DirectCompute language (which I believe is purely GPU-driven, freeing up CPU power for other stuff).
The new Tomb Raider game has an option to use TressFX on the PC version. Here’s some slightly outdated gameplay with it enabled: http://youtu.be/CpS7_-EX9a8
TressFX of course isn’t performance-free though, and may take quite a performance hit depending on what kind of GPU you have. Because of this, there should also be the choice to fallback to the current hair rendering (Tomb Raider also has this).
AMD Blog link in your OP is outdated. Routes you to http://community.amd.com/welcome now. Might want to update that.
Here’s a March 5th 2013 post about Tomb Raider and TressFX with a before and after screenshot.

I only play Open World PvE in GW2 so my Fortune Scraps are entirely from Kite Fortunes dropped from kills. Since the Zephyrite Living Story event started I’ve managed to get enough Fortune Scraps to purchase:
2x Wind Aspect Catcher Back Skin
1x Lightning Aspect Catcher Back Skin
1x Desert Rose Back Skin
1x Golden Scrap that I used to purchase a Lightning Aspect Helm Skin
I also had gotten one Lightning Aspect Catcher Back Skin from looting the chest at the end of Sanctum Sprint…sold that for gold since I already had an account bound one from Fortune Scraps.
And I still have 60+ Fortune Scraps left over. I’ll probably get enough to grab yet another skin or two before the event ends.
…I also purchased 8 more Desert Rose back skins for current and future characters from the TP for 1g50s each since there are so many being made available on the TP.
I don’t agree with you that 200 Fortune Scraps should be expected for 18 hours of Kite Fortune-yielding gameplay. Then again, Kite Fortunes state that they give between 1 and 4 scraps, but not stated is that there is also the semi-rare +50 scraps the fortunes can give so 200 in 18 hours or less is very doable…as well as the rare chance of a golden scrap that is equivalent of up to 250.

It’s unfortunate that we are unable to +1 the OP in a “Q” thread.
But you have a +1 from me in regards to most of what you’ve stated.
(I say most as precursors, crafting and anything related to legendaries in general have a real big N/A regarding my interest in them).
Loved your post. Absolutely loved it.
But, to get around the issue on hills, go down at quickly alternating left to right angles using your right mouse button to “weave” your way down, or with your forward+strafe movement keys. It’s when you go down straight that you get destroyed by trillions of grass blades, angles seem to be their only weakness.
Also, the faceplant at the bottom of the hill (if I live) makes me crack up every single time.

Until you log in and you suddenly no longer have a guild vault with all of your money in it because your guild no longer exists due to the guild disappearing bug. For some, a reload of the game brings your guild back, for me this fixed it on one occasion where I had this bug. Another time my guild was just gone even after several days of restarting and relogging. Lost several gold I had in my vault and some items. Had to eventually remake it (same name, same tag) and get it all trained up again with vault, guild armor and weapon, etc.
Probably obvious and something you checked back then, but it wasn’t that you transferred between servers so that your guild reset and the bank was lost?
Unfortunately for me, it wasn’t due to a server change to where my guild was left on the previous server. I’ve not changed server since the first week of release and this was just a couple months ago. It was just gone one day and at first I thought it was just the guild disappearing bug that many have encountered, but relogging never brought it back. :\ So after about a week of trying to bring my guild back I just remade it. I’ve seen others who have run into this issue before as well and they could not find a reason for the guild disappearing. They went the route of Support and weren’t able to get it back, so I didn’t even bother with that knowing they couldn’t do anything about it. I just don’t trust Guild Vault anymore due to this guild disappearing bug popping up again.
I’ll probably go the route of making dozens of 1g-10g buy orders on Twilight so I can just cancel those orders as I need my coin, instead of keeping it in a personal guild vault that is even less reliable for my taste.
Thank you! The area I’m in right now is Gendarran
Happy to help. I normally have music off in-game since I have the Official Soundtrack playing in my music player in the background Much of the time it is “Fear Not This Night” on repeat though (or the instrumental version) as Asja Kadric is simply amazing!
I wish ArenaNet would release the video of Asja singing “Fear Not This Night” live at their launch party.
Asja Kadric“it was recorded, ArenaNet has it but I don’t think it will be published ever. Sorry”
From her FaceBook page regarding her GW2 Launch Party performance of “Fear Not This Night”.
I foresee there being thousands of new buy orders placed on Twilight between 1 and 50g after this patch. Twilight will never sell for 1 to 50g and it’s quick to access this item from the Top Valued Items list in the TP search area so making a new buy order to store your gold will be real quick.
Which zone and which enemies? I think those two things really have a lot to do with what music is played in a battle.
Play through each of these, it’s likely one of them or a segment of one of them, though it is most likely the first one. (The Grand Gamble)

Anet is covering the conventional archetypes in terms of the professions/classes. If they wished to break with this convention you wouldn’t even need the designation light/medium/heavy. But, if there is value in having archetypal classes, then there is value in restricting armor to archetype. They don’t need to have a blue sky either; we simply hold that in convention.
Or a single moon that just happens to also follow the same day/night cycle and is the same size as our real life moon. Where are the ringed planets filling the horizon, more than one moon of different size making their way through the sky, or even being in a binary star system with one yellow sun and one blue.
le sigh

And, yes, the issue does persist even with generic plug and play drivers even on a fresh windows installation where the only thing that has been installed is Guild Wars 2 (no anti-virus, firewalls or anything). Please read the responses in that thread that has been around since the game released, we’ve all done most of the testing for you and we’re getting no response on the matter.
And yet we have not seen the area, so we can’t really assume it will be bad, now can we?
By the sound of it I would say it sounds way more fun than just “venturing into a hole and find out stuff”.
Never underestimate the joy that can come from venturing into holes to find out stuff.

PLEASE ANSWER MODERATOR. If i delete a character..but i also had 2 more before i deleted him . Will i still have all the gold , karma ect shared between them? Or will it all go?
Take the time to actually read the dev posts in this thread. Your question has already been answered.
Will “Bank” now be renamed to “Storage Facility” since the key feature that defines it as being a “Bank” is being removed?
Will “Bank Golems” and other instant “Bank Access” items now be renamed to “Storage Facilitator” devices since they no longer have anything to do with an actual “Bank” but will now only offer access to “Storage”?
Will the “Bank Tellers” in Divinity’s Reach no longer be behind barred bank teller windows since they no longer have anything to do with coin?
You cannot remove the only feature that makes a “Bank”, a “Bank”, and still call it a “Bank”.
Personally, I feel “Bank” and “Storage” should have been separate services accessed by interacting with two different NPCs from the start. Who stores a bunch of random stuff at their bank? Since the “Bank” will now only be used to house stuff instead of as a place to keep our money safe, you must now make additional changes accordingly.

So, Devs, what happens now if a player has no coin in the wallet or not enough for a waypoint fee? Do they stay dead until someone happens upon and revives them? What if they’re not really in an accessible area and should not expect anyone to happen across them? Or will they then have switch to an alt if they have one, or for those with only one character, will they have to then make an entirely new second character just to kill a few things to get a few coin in their wallet so they can then log back into the dead character since they can now afford a waypoint fee?
The exact same thing that have happened since release if you die without any kind of money.
You get a free WP to the nearest uncontested WP.
Interesting. I’ve played since launch and never died and did not have enough coin for a waypoint fee. I didn’t realize so many people have actually died and were broke to discover this. I wonder if some players will ensure all their coin is always deposited into the guild vault so it is safe from being available for waypoint fees as gold in the bank was, so they then get free waypoint revival. I’m sure players were doing this before, but now even more people will be keeping their coin in the guild vault at all times. I’m just looking for areas of the game that this feature might impact to see if any issues or exploits might happen to bring to Anet’s attention since many things are implemented without being thoroughly researched and tested for interactions with other aspects of the game.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
I’m genuinely confused about the people complaining about this feature… How does account wide gold and karma affect you negatively?
Waypoint fees.
Generally pays not to have accessible gold when you’re running around the Bazaar or the Aetherblade jumping puzzle.
You do know that WPing comes out of your personal bank if you don’t have enough on your character? So this will change nothing. Time to put your gold in a guild bank.
by the way WPing can’t take it out of there.

Depositing coins into the bank is no longer possible.
Mmmm…. could I ask for this feature to come back in a later patch? (since I realize it’s probably too late to do anything about it now).
I like depositing gold in my back so I don’t accidentally spend it. I already had an incident once when I bought a pair of Heavy Tier 3 Cultural Boots on my Thief :/ (this was before you added a warning before buying those. I still have them in my bank as a reminder and in hopes that I can get my money back one of these days…)
Guild bank man GUILD BANK, it is the new personal (stopping me from messing up and losing a lot of money) bank.
Until you log in and you suddenly no longer have a guild vault with all of your money in it because your guild no longer exists due to the guild disappearing bug. For some, a reload of the game brings your guild back, for me this fixed it on one occasion where I had this bug. Had to eventually remake it (same name, same tag) and get it all trained up again with vault, guild armor and weapon, etc.
After that I put all of my gold into my bank except for copper and the 5s I kept on each character for waypoint fees so I didn’t cause my bank to have copper in it from it autopaying from my bank.
I love this new feature, especially for Badges and Karma as long is there is NO cap on the amount of karma as I have millions worth in jugs and boosts waiting to be used…though nothing really to spend it on. But as many people will now treat a personal guild as their bank, I would think they would ensure the guild disappearing bug was actually fixed before implementing this.
Area: Clayent Falls
Dynamic Event: Defend the beehives from hungry bears
Glad you noted your server, most forget to include that detail as knowing which server the issue is on is crucial information; yours is bugged, the dynamic event for protecting the bee hives on Eredon Terrace is not bugged.
Hope they get to fixing it on your server. :\
In a related note, I wish that dynamic event would last longer. Being the only player in the area, after killing 3-4 bears it ends, which is about 10-15 seconds duration at most.
Also, Fiona Hastings is my second favorite NPC I’ve seen in-game. First is Mona for the Escort the trading post caravan to Claypool dynamic event.
“Don’t look at me, don’t talk to me. You chat, you die. Let’s go.” So awesome.
As for your post, “calling out” players with their character or account names on the forums is against forum rules. You may want to edit their names out so you do not receive an infraction for including them in your post. Reporting them in-game for suspected botting is all you should do. Just trying to watch out for ya.
…“The only use for this infusion was boss drops in dungeons, no-one would use 20 laurels for random PvE gold drops (most direct gold comes from sources unaffected by gold find, such as events). The only part of the game that made gilded infusions worth 20 laurels was the dungeon boss drops. Even in Southsun Cove players ignored the gold find because open world gold drops are terrible.”
You generalize and make largely inaccurate and in some ways completely false statements based on nothing more than opinion and expectations.
I use the +20% GF infusion for OWPvE where much of my coin is gained from looting kills. Half of your paragraph is false to that point.
Regarding Southsun, I primarily used the +200% coin boost instead of the magic find boost for the duration of the event, coupled with +30% food. At that time I did not have my +20% laurel infusion. I was gaining 4-6 gold per hour from looting kills. Do you make 4-6g per hour from the coin dropped by killing dungeon bosses?
Even running the Harathi Hinterlands zone event nets me close to 2 gold in coin drop with the laurel infusion and 30% food on…and I run that twice an hour usually (then 2-3g in junk loot and 3-4g in selling mats and the occasional rare on the TP).
Perhaps you should give playing other content a thorough try if your main goal is to make coin, and also put your gold find infusion to good (better?) use.
Which armor type? Light, medium or heavy.

Yep, I don’t care what anyone else feels either. I feel like a hero.
Wish you were here.
Hi Vayne
I’m not saying I’ve never felt like a hero while playing GW2, just that in relation to the Personal Story and Living Story, I’m not all that impressed with them in terms of being Player-centric. I like some of the group dynamics to where I am a cog in a big machine and all that, but the Living Story should have been “Cog” material, Personal Story should have been all about us and our journey to becoming the hero (hence, “personal”)…instead of being somewhat of a smalltime hero up to level 30ish and then all of our history, our decisions, our friends, our growth as a character…they no longer mattered after that. I feel we were reduced to the level of nothing more than a random henchman from GW1…someone to function only as an aide to the real hero.
So, I’ve long since focused only on the content that I really enjoy (primarily roaming countrysides and wandering through the woods) and completely ignore all the different Personal Storylines since I know where they all go after level 30 and it’s not fun to me.
I hope everyone realizes that if they truly were the hero, then it’d be hard to build a statue of the hero in tribute.
How so? We are all presented with our very own ore node each time we approach it.
For me it is already mined. For you it is fresh and waiting for you to mine it.Why couldn’t a statue be different depending on who is looking at it?
For me it is my character made stone. For you it is your character made stone. It’s not that difficult.
And then players who did not participate? Players who did not exist? Alternative Characters?
You mean, if I completed living story content on one character and not another? Living story content is account based so individual characters do not matter. In regards to a statue from Personal Story content, no statue should be displayed to characters who have yet to complete their Personal Story. For Living Story accomplishments, I don’t think there were any Living Story actions that would entitle us to our own statue. But if there were, make it a statue of whatever character you’re currently logged in as, since one character of yours is the same hero as all of your others; you…unless one wants to go Full Roleplay. In that case, statues should be in the Home Instance, and what is displayed in each Home Instance should be dependent on that character’s accomplishments and participation in Living and Personal Stories. However, with how achievements and Living Story content are currently implemented, let alone Home Instances, it would take some changes to implement.

Some. like myself, bought it just before.
Just like with their announcement for changing magifind, they should do something similiar for gold find. Because without those larger champion drops the stat is kinda useless. A few extra copper don’t really add up enough to make the stat worth it.
It does add up for me and is quite useful. You’re speaking of your own expectations and of what is “of use” to you. It adds up; a couple of percent from account gold boost from achievements, a 20% utility infusion and some 30% food. All I do is PvE (as in, Open World, not Instances) and I get quite a noticeable increase in coin from kills. Maybe stop only farming champs. For the time it takes to down a champ and get a little coin, there’s actually more coin to be gained in killing some random enemies in that time than in that single champ kill. Not to also mention that the coin spent waypointing to the next champ in the zerg train is more than what the single champ drops in terms of coin (I assume you are the type of player to partake in that activity by your statements).

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Cannot-Dye-Transmuted-Armor-Merged
WORKAROUND
- You can try removing the dye from the transmuted piece with the Dye Remover button.
- Save the changes with the removed dye and close the Hero Panel.
- Reopen the Hero Panel and then dye it to your liking.
This method should help you to now be able to dye your transmuted armor.
Some have noted that they needed to use Dye Remover on all items, not just the transmuted piece with the issue, for this method to work.
This did not work.
Did you try using Dye Remover on all areas of all armor, closing Hero Panel to save it all without dyes, then reopening and attempting to dye then?
Also, if you try to unequip the armor that won’t dye does your game crash or anything?
Has Anet fixed armor with clipping in the past?
Some, but mainly Gem Store armors as some people put up real money to buy them. As these are Gem Store I should expect them to be fixed eventually but it might be several patches away yet if they do choose to fix it.

Far right, behind that weird-looking charr that people are calling Rox.
If that isn’t Braham, I’ll eat my own socks.
Which means that charr is probably Rox.
That is the worst portrayal of Rox I’ve ever seen and it is an insult to her character. As noted by others, it looks like a human but midway through transforming into a werewolf, and the horns are totally different and she lost her ears somewhere.
It’s disgusting. Who approved that image to be in-game for a loading screen? It is just a horrible representation of Rox even with the “art style” justification for portraying her differently. Art style doesn’t mean she gets new horns, a new face and loses her ears; i.e. barely even charr.
“Look to the skies” was our hint from the developers, fyi…
A second moon/planet in the sky getting larger/closer each day that slowly fills the majority of the sky.
I think this is an issue that should be looked at, especially since the armor is being charged for. ANet is putting forth content more frequently now, which is wonderful – We certainly can use more armors and content in general, and I think the fanbase is very thankful – But let’s not be so thankful that we allow bugs, or possibly shortcomings in effort/design to slip by unchecked.
Failure to abrogate is to validate.
I agree. I’ve also noted this thread and issue in my “Tracker – Living Story/Game Update Bugs” thread in my signature.
As noted in the thread I linked on this issue:
“any tonics obtained before the patch are still account/soul bound even though the tooltip no longer shows that they are”
As well as:
“What’s happening is that a patch was implemented that was supposed to make all halloween tonics (both crafted and those found in the ToT bags) tradable/sellable.
What actually happened, is that it’s not working on any tonics that were existing prior to the patch. Only the ones made or found in ToT bags AFTER the patch are working as intended."

The ring of feathers that are blue tinted seem to be on the chest armor, not on the shoulder armor. You have matte dye on the shoulder armor, but you seem to be using your bottom left rare dye (maybe the one listed in the middle in your favorites as well) on the feathers of the chest. Or are you using the far right Uncommon dye that looks to be Blue Ice Dye. That would cause the blue tint.
Have you tried dying it yellow to see if you are presented with a green color? (y+b=g)
Have you also gone to a different location/zone to see if the color is still blue tinted there as well?
