Players will be able to get the wings but it will not be done through the existing achievements as that ends next week.
Source?
One of the missions in GW1 showed that an alliance wouldn’t work.
Hmm what mission was that?
Being able to get the backpack, and having to do something different to get the back pack are not the same thing. The post you quote gave direct quotes from a Dev blog saying that you’d be able to OBTAIN, or GET the backpack in the second year of PvP Leagues (which S5 would be the start of year 2), but through a different means.
Josh saying that the backpack is still obtainable does not change anything that the devs said previously.
To answer your question, no the year of Ascension achievements will not be available in S5, seeing as how it would be the start of year 2 achievements, but the backpack for S1 (the wings) will still be available.
We’re going in circles here, More speculation.
Look at this recent thread.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/sPvP-Season-5-2016/first
The OP says:
“I am working through all of the challenges, but due to the division cross restriction, I will not hit my goal until S5, if that is a thing, please tell me that is a thing, I would hate to think I wasted my effort.”
Then Josh (dev) just says:
“You’ll still be able to get the wings, even with the considerable league changes coming with Season 5.”
How does that look.
Josh is basically reassuring the guy saying don’t worry you’ll still be able to get them.
Now if Josh said something like ’you’ll still be able to get them in season 5 but it will be by different means’ Then that would of been different.
Can you see why there is confusion. Also wiki saying “may change” and the fact that there even is a Season 5 adds to the confusion, Is it going to just keep counting on, In a few years will there be Season 25? Why not Year 1 season 1-4 Year 2 Season 1-4 etc.
Would be awesome if a dev could clarify.
developer has already stated you can get it in season 5. implying no change at all
Thank you. I have a feeling this is the case, Just wanted to confirm it.
Wish a dev would comment on this to clarify, All these comments on here while I appreciate them are all speculation. Devs haven’t said anything about whether or not the achievements will remain or be removed in season 5, That’s what i’m trying to find out.
It won’t. You have until the 3rd to get the current backpack otherwise you’ll have to wait until they reveal the other method to obtain it. The current league is call the Year of Ascension. A year only has four seasons. After this season, it’ll have been about a year.
The links provided have been pretty clear but just in case…
If you can’t/don’t get the legendary if a specific year then there will be another way to obtain that specific backpack. I can’t go into any details on that, but you WILL be able to get previous years backpacks in some way.
So was Josh lying here?

From the very beginng the Devs stated the wings will be obtainable after the year of the ascension just would be more difficult to get. S5 is not part of the year of ascension unless they change that.
Source?
The devs never said anything about it being more difficult. The wiki also stats that the method of earning the wings may change after the first year, Key word “may” meaning maybe, Would really love it if a dev could clarify instead of speculation.
if they stay true to what they have said before the answer is NO

Also have a look at this.

Will the Year of the Ascension I – IV achievements be available during season 5?
A cocoon comes out of a butterfly and is the prettiest cocoon that ever lived.
And here I was excited to finally play necro again. RIP the dream. sigh
PvP should not be balanced around taking away good options from stat combinations… if a build is too strong, the offending skills should be balanced, or counterplay skills buffed, not good choices taken away from all builds so that the strong builds are forced into sub-optimal stats to “balance” them.
Necromancer needs those stat combinations to be on par with other professions.
Necro needs defensive stats.. other professions have blocks, invulns, evades, invis, etc. All we really have is DS and we need to build it up to make use of it. It also scales off our own vit.
Necromancer is probably the most stat-reliant profession in the game.
You mean you need those stats to be OP lol.
Necro already was op with the current condi meta.
The problem I have is that stability is not balanced amongst the different classes. There is now an abundance of cc skills, but some classes have a far easier time mitigating that than others. Would be better if there was a trade off but there isn’t:
Agreed some classes definitely need much better access to stability.
Stability is strong enough, and still has reasonable counterplay unlike last year. The problem is the over abundance of AoE CC. Dazing traps and shocking aura were the biggest offenders but you dont see many eles these days.
The problem is definitely accentuated more with the sheer number of Dragon Hunters running around with their low cooldown AoE Daze traps and knockback longbows.
Would prefer you guys to focus on class balance first. Here are my thoughts on Khylo.
- Have treb take damage from condi’s and crits CONDI MAYBE, CRITS NO
[Burn only OR all condi’s apply a stack of structural vulnerability.]
- Rotation speed increase NO
[It’s fine as it is.]
- Remove Treb completely NO
[Khylo is a unique map, Please don’t make it like every other map.]
- Faster fire rate NO
[It’s fine as it is.]
- Different treb amno that supports allies on points YES
[Poison shot would be nice if it was balanced.]
- Teleport skill drop the siege bundle YES
[Surprised this hasn’t been done already.]
Why was stability nerfed completely into the ground only to add a ton more CC skills & traits with heart of thorns, Some classes still have very poor access to stability, Pvp is an absolute kitten CC fest now, It’s so frustrating when you are CC’ed for 30 seconds straight constantly being tossed around like a rag doll, It’s not fun.
Please revert stability to duration and give certain classes way more access to it.
There is over 200 CC skills/traits now.

- Implement 1-to-1 rally policy, similar to WvW. This means that only 1 player would rally per enemy killed, rather than up to 5. Would likely be the downed ally closest to the enemy player.
- Cap the range at which someone can rally.
- Bring back PvE-downstate policy
- Shorten revive/downed “invuln” buff.
- Reduce healing per tick when rezzing.
- Further reduce downstate HP
- Adjust outlier revive skills (Function Gyro)
All of them would be nice, Or even better just remove downstate from spvp.
You’ll still be able to get the wings, even with the considerable league changes coming with Season 5.
Hey Josh could you clarify for me, Will the current Year of the Ascension achievements still be available during season 5? So I can finish off part 4 during s5 to complete the gift.
Trying to stomp now almost always means you will get downed yourself.
Yeah what we need is even more conditions :P
It would be amazing if they just made stomps happen automatically.
The new gem store longbow Storm Bow has a really cool looking bow string made out of light, Would it be possible to change the Kudzu’s bow string to something similar?
Can you not add sms protection to gw1 so this doesn’t happen again?
There’s also a cave for one of the guild mission races that has this lighting glitch.
Gw1 had a decent Build template manager, I’m not sure why they removed it for Gw2.
Anet really need to balance the cost to make each of the armor stats. Maybe have it so you can just buy the insignia of any stat off a vender like soldier stats. The price to make some of the newer stat’s is stupid. Why should players be penalized for wanting to try a different play style, Using the same one over and over gets boring fast for some people.
Healix that worked, Thank you.
The -32 command does nothing on the 64-bit client ‘Gw2-64.exe’ I need the 32-bit client ‘Gw2.exe’ But the 32-bit installer doesn’t give me it, It only gives the 64-bit one.
I’m trying to do a fresh install of the game with the 32-bit client, The 64-bit client causes random freezing ingame. For some reason the 32-bit installer only installs the 64-bit client, So I’m not getting the 32-bit exe file ‘Gw2.exe’ So I cannot use the -32 command.
I have 4 legendaries but I’ve always felt ascended gear should have the on-the-fly stat change too. Legendaries should only be a prestige/visual item, Not something that gives exclusive functionality, If ascended gear had the on-the-fly stat change it would make the game way more fun, being able to change you build whenever you want even mid raid.
How does someone get punished twice from confusion?
We just need more pve bosses to actively move around instead of just standing there taking it. We are starting to see this happen more since HoT. But more could be done.
Every class has a ranged condi weapon except rev. If not a seperate weapon would it even be possible to change hammer into a hybrid with 2 basic attacks like underwater spear. one for power and one for condi. I love rev but sometimes it feels like half a class.
How can we get this issue put on the bug tracker?
In pve you have to train the elite spec first by doing hero points.
I’m not exactly sure what’s causing it but I keep having to retick my mini pet.
All the best pvp builds require HoT that makes it kinda p2w tbh.
Toughness is good against sustained attacks, power enemies and long fights. Vitality is good against burst attacks, condi enemies and short fights. If you want to be tanky you kind of need both. In general vitality is the better stat except maybe on necro (high natural health, low armor) Be careful in PVE though, Too much toughness and you’ll become an aggro magnet, As a rule of thumb in PVE try not to go over 2500 for your armor stat (toughness+defence). In PVE I personally use zerker armor on all my toons with either zerker or soldier’s trinkets depending on how squishy they naturally are.
When suggesting gw2 to friends, Make sure you tell them to join your server.
PVE players are generally nice, helpful & easygoing, PVP players are basically the opposite.
Won’t happen, NA and EU are two separate servers (Texas, USA and Frankfurt, Germany).
Guild Wars 1 didn’t have a separate EU server, Only an EU district on the NA server.
If they ever did do this though, They would scrap the EU server and have EU players all connect to the NA server, This would suck for a lot of EU players because of latency.
Draconic is the style of the armour, Berserker is the stats.
Citadel of Flame is an easy dungeon to farm at lvl 75+ for exotic zerker gear.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Equipment_acquisition_by_stats#Dungeons
If you are only starting out I would suggest Knights gear (PPT). Once you are good with warrior and dodging go for full or mixed zerker. From lvl 1-79 get cheap masterwork (green) armour/weapons, At lvl 80 buy exotic gear/weapons. Never buy rare (yellow) gear, it’s a waste of money. Be careful with your gold, You will need boatloads of it later on. Ascended armour is only needed when you are doing endgame high lvl fractels or raids.
Have it like a checkbox.

Nobody on your blocked list should ever be able to whisper you.
If they nerf Warrior again, There won’t be anything left but a pile of ashes.
Can you tell me a game that does regularly add enough content that after 3 years players still have new things to do, and doesn’t charge for it?
Off the top of my head, All f2p and still popular:
Linage 2 (2003), Aion (2008), Rift (2011), Tera (2011).
I’m sure there’s at least a half a dozen more.
I personally think it’s very selfish and unfair that some players want to deny new players a special item that they may really want. I believe everyone should have a chance at getting any item in the game they want at some point. Items that are completely exclusive are a cheap, distasteful and they are possibly enabling video game addiction. Some people need to learn the value being kind and sharing, This is after all supposed to be a family friendly casual game.
