I would wait to see how the march culling patch turns out before investing more money into new hardware. Maybe that is morning optimism talking lol.

You can overclock your CPU. That will give a performance boost. Make sure that you do diligent research on how to do it since over clocking incorrectly can damage your hardware.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
While there are some network lag issues being reported, it seems that you are experiencing culling issues. There is a patch coming at the end of the month to address culling. Hopefully this fixes everyone’s problems.
Ps nice system

Ashley Segovia can the community get responses from anet regarding the myriad of other issues with gw2?

I am fairly certain that the majority of tickets regarding performance issues are tossed to the auto responses, for example: drivers, windows updates etc.
They will make people send dxdiags and trace routes and find that the issue is on the users end and close the ticket.
I am certain that they know there is an issue. If the issue is DISCUSSED with the community to alleviate issues there would be less anger amongst people.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I have noticed the prime 95 large fft is pretty close to gw2 In stressing my system. Gw2 clearly over stresses the CPU and anet cannot deny it.
Since they cannot deny it, they have decided to ignore it and go to meet and greets instead.
I have not played in a while since I cannot stand jorlag type events.. I really want to wvw but that is out of the question for now.
Jaz I am interested in your thoughts regarding the upcoming culling patch.
As for the mods deleting my posts and messaging me, I have been working in IT for 15 years, have many qualifications and own my own consulting company.
I can tell you from experience that your consumer base is currently displeased with performance of gw2. It is not inflammatory to remark about a product not functioning as it should, it is necessary. Perhaps in the future anet will take these posts to heart and embrace constructive criticism rather than punish those who wish to either bring attention or improve on the issue.
Best of luck to everyone with AMD Intel or any CPU with this game. I just hope the culling issue will let me finally play wvw after 6 months.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Talking about Tera because we can’t play gw2 at a reasonable level makes me lol hard. It will be interesting what the culling patch does, if anything for people.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
While I am staggered that they actually made a patch that will somehow try to improve performance, I think that this is going to cause more problems than fix them.
The GW2 engine is far from close to being able to run as intended in large scale battles. There have been numerous posts in the tech forums regarding how poorly the engine uses client resources.
It will be interesting to see how this patch affects the ludicrous performance so far in large scale events/wvw. I see this as a stop-gap fix until the engine itself can be recoded to use more threads efficiently. DX11 is just a pipe dream as well

Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time, and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game.
Anets’ disclaimer to do nothing.

Found this gem on the official system requirements page:

Smells of disclaimer from any legal action taken regarding performance.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Anet put a nice disclaimer in some awesome small print so noone can read it clearly.

As per the previous topic regarding performance that was closed by the moderators, I will reiterate my previous statement.
There are basically 3 things that you can do.
1. Get a very powerful computer to deal with performance issues with gw2.
2. Wait until they fix their issues and play another game in the meantime(my personal choice atm).
3. Move next door to Anets’ server cluster, find a way into a open window and try to patch yourself in that way.
I am assuming you put a ticket in regarding this issue. If so please choose one of the 3 options I have presented for you.
Enjoy your day

Well I for one wouldnt swap out a tripple core CPU for a dual core i5, and yes I do know how good an i5 is particularly in heavy single threaded apps. In my opinion more physical cores are the best option.
The i5 3570k is a quad core that uses 4 threads.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
By reading previous posts regarding performance issues, you can ascertain that the CPU is the bottleneck on your computer. That being said, even super high end systems are having issues with GW2.
The only think that you would need to replace is the motherboard and processor(and possible power supply). The i5 3570k is a good cpu to get for gw2.

I set my audio settings to defaults and that fixed the issue for me. I think that this issue is from the CPU being overburdened and causing the sound card(onboard) driver to crash.

Reclaimer that is why you step back, dont log in, dont buy gems and play other games that run well. There are sooo many new games out and coming out that are awesome that I am sure myself and many others will put GW2 down until they fix the issues.

intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
The money people have had to spend to upgrade their cpu/mobo because of GW2s’ crappy optimization could equal the GDP of a small latin american country.
That being said. If you can get a K series, it is in your best interest to do that. Solar Nova’s recommendations are pretty much on the money.

Unfortunately Espionage.3685 we do have access to high end hardware. The entire GW2 community
This issue isn’t allocated to individuals with low end specs. It is across the board. Even uber high end systems are bogged down with GW2.
Anet has had 6 months since launch to address the myriad of performance issues but it seems that they have chosen to ignore it.
0 comments from any Anet employee on their own forum basically proves that they don’t care.
We can sit and moan about how bad it is but it doesn’t matter. They just don’t seem to care about it at all.

PS: Guys be very careful when posting here. I notice mods started deleting posts, it will not be long before this thread gets locked….
At least Anet isnt as bad as EA lol.
If Anet admits that there is a problem and they are trying to fix it then that would be good enough for me but the disheartening thing is the silence.
I was doing a dragon event today lol
Everyone was complaining about the lag.
Jormag is now Jorlag.
It really is too bad because I felt that Anet did a great job with GW2, but in it’s current state much of the game is unplayable

MMORPG: Back in January, one of the fixes for culling went into place, and it seemed to help a bit. But how will the changes coming in March eliminate this completely? There are a few skeptics in Bill’s (Murphy) guild that think it can’t be done.
Habib Loew: Hah, yeah we have seen a lot of the skepticism on the Internet. The change we made in January was really just a tweak to the system. It changed the priorities of Culling but did not eliminate it. The change in March will turn off Culling completely. You will now see every character within range of you. There will be several different options for how other players are presented to you, on the client side that you can choose from so you can control how it works for you.
Thanks for making us wait and read an obscure article to find this out. GG

The terrible lag caused by “large” events in GW2 has gotten much much worse.
I would also like the the guesting for dragon events to end.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I like the fact that we are getting new ways to do bosses. I agree the adds are a little too much for lvl 35 dungeon. This really should have been implemented on a higher level dungeon.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Even AC path 1 which is a lvl 35 dungeon is hard for lvl 80’s in exotic and ascended gear. I was rolling a mace/shield guardian and I found the p1 end boss adds way way too op for adds. Even the Boss in P1 is hard with his zomg lazer. The KD of the adds is op. I had 2 stability skills going and a prot skill and still got kd enough for our party to wipe. I know it is the 1st run through but I can image a guild group of lvl 35’s trying it for the 1st time and never doing another dungeon ever again.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Why would I bother to do AC ever again. I have my gift, I have done all paths many times. The only reason people did AC was gold and AC weapons. I and many others salvaged our weapons into ectos because the rewards were pretty much useless. I feel this way about almost all of the dungeons. There is NO incentive to do them really except for gold. The new AC is trickier but doable, bugs aside. I would have rather seen something that wants me to come back rather than just the challenge(which I like).

90% is not a good thing if your getting SS going and being under 90%
The issue is with CPU usage in this game.

I really don’t think that most gamers are used to crappy performance. It is the exact opposite. I agree that anet won’t listen to us since they haven’t uttered a peep in over 6 months.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Don’t expect any patches for performance. Either accept the crappy frame rates, get an aftermarket cooler and oc or get another game to play.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
May I suggest that this gets at least a daily bump until we get a response from Anet?

I didn’t like the graphics in WoW either. I played the free trial for about 4 hours lol. I wouldn’t mind trying Terra. If the free trial is on I might try it out.
I never played DAoC so I don’t know how it handled multiplayer, but there really isnt much of an excuse for Anet not to fix these issues.

That is irrelevant.
GW2 was built to supposedly have massive battles that contain large amount of players.
The GW2 engine cannot handle what the game was designed to do. It is as simple as that.
I understand there is a bigtime difference between Crysis 3 and GW2. My point was that Crysis 3 was meant to stress systems to the max, GW2 was meant to be a casual MMO that even XP users can play.
GW2 cannot support(in it’s current state) multiple players in large events on the screen unless you have a $3K system.
