I bet they put in a toggle for it.
One can only hope.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I am sure that they will make a toggle for right click targeting and hopefully improve on the controls and targeting as a whole.
The fact that the issue is being looked at should be positive and hopefully the right choices will be made.
Too many people have complained about the problem and it is easily replicated by the devs.
Looking forward to that toggle fix so I can use my Mesmer without going insane in zergs.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
We have not forgotten about this. Sometimes as certain features get used by more of the game, it reveals issues that lead to a redesign. For instance, now that you can right click on people in PvP while spectating to switch follow cameras, accidental right-clicks can be far more disorienting than selecting a new target.
Evan, thanks for the response even if it might be a little too late.
Many people feel that this is a game breaking issue, including myself.
I hope you expedite this problem since many people, again, including myself are finding themselves playing less and less because of it.
Best of luck!
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
The video not only recognizes a significant issue with the game but also promotes a viable fix for the problem .
Well done sir.
The game is becoming so boring that I am not playing it much anymore which tears me up inside since I had such high hopes for this game.
They took everything that made GW1 so awesome and tossed it in the garbage to make way with zerg wars
My tanky mace/shield guardian is collecting dust and all I use now is my zerker
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932

CONGRATS ANET!!! on reaching 16000 views for a 9 month old issue that hasn’t been addressed in over 6 months!
Keep up the great work!!!
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I use supersampling and I usually get 20-30+ on the large events. The game itself is terribly optimized and needs tons of work to the engine.
They are currently working on optimizations but the outcome of course remains to be seen.
Unless they add new threading to the game for quadcore+ CPUs or a better optimization of the actual client I dont really think that you can do too much OP except get a new system and overclock it.
It is unfortunate but the devs decided to use a modified GW1 engine which uses an antiquated API.
The end user is stuck with the results.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Can we have a ping icon like gw1?
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Having right click targeting binded to the same key as mouse camera movement shows the lack of foresight that the devs had in the creation of this game.
A simple toggle or custom keybind would solve this easily.
I cannot believe that this hasn’t been addressed by A SINGLE DEV in over 6 months.
To most people affected by the issue it is a game breaking problem and it is easy to understand the level of frustration.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932

I had a thought during beta when I saw weapons and armor containing attributes to builds that any nerf would cause a riot.
Why oh why doesn’t anet consider the cost of putting together gear for a character? Because they want to get more money from the gemstore.
You really think that they care?
Break out those visas and convert to gold!
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932

+1 to that brother!
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Broken events=buy in bulk?
Why not just get rid of the vendor completely?
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932

intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
And this is when the heart of Anet died.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Again, that video hit the nail on the head.
I enjoyed the challenge of UW/FoW?/DoA and even if I didn’t get that rare item, there was usually money to be made for your time/effort.
As it stands now GW2 is very boooring. Doing the same meta events and grinding Orr/Karka events is not the idea that I had when GW2 was released.
The end game content of GW1 was one of the things that made the game fun and long lasting.
If no end game content is introduced then I cannot see myself playing for much longer.
I have already noticed my gaming time being elsewhere and that is truly a shame.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I noticed a drop as well and it seems like there is a slight micro stutter that has appeared suddenly. ofc this just happened after the last patch.

GW2 is very CPU dependent. You can have an Nvidia Titan with an i3 and it still will not run as you would expect.
What CPU are you using?

Congrats Anet on passing the 15000 view mark!
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
80+ is a efficiency rating. It ranges from bronze, silver gold. There is software where you can recover the bsod errors and corresponding codes but I would in all honesty just get a new psu.
You should be ok with a 650 but if you can get a 700w the usually having more is never a bad thing. Try for corsair xfx or a similar high end brand.
I never cheap out on psu units since they are the backbone of your system.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
It could be aged capacitors or a dead rat inside lol, I can’t tell remotely. If you get a bsod you can always look up the code. Gw2 uses a lot of CPU power which in turn can stress the psu.
Your best bet is to borrow a psu that you know is ok.
If your going to buy a new psu you should try to get at least an 80+ bronze or higher from a respected manufacturer like corsair or xfx.
My old system was shutting down and when I got my new psu all the shutdowns and bsod were fixed.
Hope that helps a bit and good luck
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Usually that is a sign that the psu could be dying. Is the CPU overclocked?
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932

Like Solar said the game runs crappy with whatever hardware you have.
GW2 uses 3 heavy threads so all those extra threads you have on your 3930k won’t help you all that much. GW2 loves raw clocks. I noticed a big difference when I oc’d mine to 4.5ghz.
If your PSU can handle it then I would definitely go for a higher overclock. What cooler are you using? If his PSU really is that close he could gain the extra headroom by backing off the OC on the 680, which will not even be stressed in stock form as it is.
My gtx 680 oc will get to 99% usage at times, especially with supersampling :P
It is too bad that there isnt really a computer available(without LH2) that will run the game at 60fps+ during zergs with all the bells and whistles.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I don’t run supersampling anymore and set reflections to Terrrain&Sky. I find that helps with the FPS.
Your H100i will let you OC that CPU to 4.5ghz easily. You can try to do it now or wait until you get a new PSU.
Try inputing your info into this site:
http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
That will give you a good idea of where you are as far as power goes. Hopefully you have a good chip and it takes low voltages to maintain a stable 4.5ghz oc.
GW2 is a CPU pig like no other. Even my i7 oc will dip into the high 20’s during giant zergs. They really need to start looking at optimizing the game more(not holding my breath).

Wow do YOU even know how to read?
“Lol your “opinions”, and your “type” of players are the minority here. Very few actual players thinks that Arenanet is out to steal all our money for a fix, your are clearly just attacking them because your mad.”
Your kitten right I am mad. The targeting is god aweful in this game and there has been one post in 8 months with over 14,000 views yet here we are with 0 response from Anet since the creation of the thread.
It is clear that you do not have the ability to comprehend sarcasm, although I would love to see the “Asuran Targeting Scanner” sold on the gemstore…at least the issue would be fixed.
“They have said they are working on it 3 times.”
Post links please or your argument is invalid.
“I know your trying to degrade me somehow with this term, but it is only making me lolAnd I support the fix for this, even if I don’t experience it. Perhaps your reading skills are lacking.”
I am not degrading you I am just sick of white knights that defend Anet needlessly.
“can link pages and pages of things devs discussed that players wanted/suggested, and that were implemented into the game. Your argument is an argument that holds no substance other than to call people silly names and rage against them. Which of course we all find humorous at your expense, but doesn’t contribute to the fix for this problem.”
I am certain that there are things put into the game that players wanted, but how about fixing a fundamental problem with the game before we start talking Zhaitan minis and multicolored rainbow quaggan backpacks at the gemstore.
“Just because someone doesn’t respond with “we are still working on it” every page, doesn’t mean they are ignoring it. No one needs to pander or baby you every time you cry for attention, please get over yourself and post something more constructive. Have fun”
Sooo, I can’t “degrade” you somehow but it is ok for you to do that to others. That is very mature lol.
I don’t think that they should respond to every page but when a thread that is over 8 months old with 18000 views! is not responded too then there is an issue.
Myself and the thousands of other people who are sick of this issue will sadly never get a fix for this.
Arena Net has done jack squat to even discuss what many feel to be a gamebreaking issue and that silence to most is regarded as non-action.
I am sure that you will retort.
I will not read it.
I will let someone else +1 their disgust with the targeting in GW2 and let the thread get to 16000k views lol.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
If I submit a right click targeting disable code to Anet I want 100k gems. I shouldn’t have to do their job for them.
It isn’t hard to do they just don’t want to do it unless it is somehow tied into the gemstore. ie. you can now control how you target! The Asuran targeting scanner is now available for the low price of 2000 gems!
It is so low on the list that Anet devs havn’t even responded in 7 months to a thread that has 13000 views! How is that for customer service and being in touch with the community?
Having knowledge of coding is irrelevant when the company your so very patient with(I consider 8 months patient) isn’t even willing to put a simple “we are working on it guys” comment.
The vitriol in this forum is well deserved and gone are the days where Anet listened and interacted with it’s community.
Your white knight attitude to this issue is but one small voice compared to the 10 pages of people who want this addressed.

intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I agree that they would have to test and make sure that a toggle would work 100% before being introduced into the game but after 8 months it is pretty obvious that they just dont even care.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Fixed mouse-based target selection while using the “look behind” key.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates
Geotherma.2395 The fact that they were able to miraculously fix that(which according to you would take someone with a high degree of experience) shows it isn’t that hard.
They were altering the targeting code already! Your insinuation that you need to have a supreme amount of time and experience to implement a control toggle is about the shiniest white knight comment that I have ever read on this forum.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932

intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
It is being overwhelmed because anet decided to use the GW1 engine and modify it instead of starting from scratch. GW2 uses 3 heavy threads which, in this day and age, is very low for a game that has as many players onscreen as GW2 does.
The game also uses Umbra which is a terrible occlusion technology.
GW2 needs to be able to use more threads and perhaps a modern api as well. DX11 would help performance not just new flashy effects.
TL,DR GW2 uses an old engine for a modern game and has limitations in it’s code.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Ya I didnt read the whole thing :P too much on the go~!
Probably an auto oc feature in the bios. Those chips do turbo up to 4.2ghz.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
The preliminary benchmarks for the 4770k were very underwhelming to be honest. The performance gain was about 10-15% while using less power. To be fair they sent a demo chip that really might not be what the final ones are like.
The sad thing about GW2 is that you can have a $2000 computer and it still will not run at 60fps during wvw or events.
Until they optimize the engine to use more threads efficiently or you start to use liquid hydrogen for your oc your pretty much outta luck for 60fps
Initial prices for the 4770k was about $30-40 more than the 3770k which would be worth upgrading from a 920.
Lets just hope that they fixed the TIM issue with the 4770k series :P

Any overclock you do should be tested for stability. Using utilities for overclocking is ok but generally you will get lower voltages doing a manual setup.
There are tons of great sites to help you out.
www.overclockers.net is a great resource to help you out.
My AMD system and my Intel system are/were both overclocked for GW2.
I would bet your issues stem from stability.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I agree with Solar, especially with the motherboards being bad quality from Cyberpower/ibuypower. They typically use lower end components on order to make more profit.
Putting a pc together is easier than you think. There are tons of web sites and information on the net if you ever get stuck.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I am guessing you live in Canada. There are several good custom PC makers that use much more quality parts than Cyberpower.
Try Canada Computers(go instore and select your components) they will assemble them for you for a fee(50 bucks I think).
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Since this issue has been in the game for 8 months I suspect your stuck with this for the longevity of this game…
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I will be interested to see how culling affects large scale PvE events such as dragons. Currently with culling on an i7 3770k oc 4.5ghz gtx 680oc/oc there are still massive dips in fps.
Can you guys please work on optimizing the engine to use more threads efficiently?
It is like your passing the buck with culling from the engine to the end user.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
It is on the list at the very bottom just below the zhaitan backpack cover for 10000 gems.
I am switching back to guardian because I can get away with losing my targets more than my mesmer.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
You kitten lol, I thought that this was an actual response from anet about the next update!
In all seriousness though, this needs to be done. The game is in a bad state of repair and there have been 0 performance patches since launch. I don’t include the culling patch since they just pushed the issue to the end user rather than fix the actual issue.
You got my hopes up
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Across many forums and planes of the internet I have read basically the same thing from most people.
Fix the issues first before adding more quaggan back pack gem store items.
The right click targeting is a fundamental issue of gameplay but is still not even addressed to the userbase at all!!
The lack of polish after 8 months is absolutely astounding and if I was in their company, I could guarantee that heads would roll.
