They just clip too badly for Anet to handle, so we get sloths instead.
Sad but true.
Alot of weapons and armor clip badly in GW2 anyways, so GIVE US CAPES!!!!!
Hell. I will even buy them for 2000 gems!!!!

From a Reddit poster:
https://modelviewculture.com/pieces/the-whales-of-microtransactions-and-the-elephant-in-the-room
Designing a good product takes effort, and even the most experienced tech workers will be tempted to skip time-consuming challenges. Microtransactions have, for some, become the perfect way to avoid having to build a solid experience: they only need to create a good hook, and hide the rest behind a paywall. It doesn’t matter what the end goal is, or if having full access is any different from the free version. It doesn’t matter if paying to progress is the only solution, as long as people keep paying. As long as they get hooked and stay curious and hopeful, it’s good enough.
But it shouldn’t be.
Good article

As per signature.
I get good frames in LA but of course zergs tank.
I use master effect so I have usually 70-99% GPU usage at all times.
Supersampling and all reflections enabled including everything on high/ultra.
The exception is character quality which I have a high not very high.
Until GW3 comes out and has a new engine I expect that no matter what I do my fps will pretty much be the same.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I agree 100% that gw2 will not miraculously be saved with dx12 due to the engine.
I do, however have an issue with the game being designed (some of it) for large groups, zerg and wvw, that the engine can’t handle.
The fact that CPUs became parallel and not just raw clocks in a sense hurt gw2. I mean who wouldn’t want that nice i5 running at 7ghz? The game would be buttery smooth.
I foresee 0 dx or any other API changes as well as the status quo for performance.
I have to admit the devs did a good job cramming what they did into the game but the age of the engine is showing.
Hopefully gw3 will have a modern engine, but then again by the time that game is released, the engine won’t support dx 21 holographic outputs

intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
No crash just a nice 007. I didnt bother with a traceroute to check for lost packets. It could be lvl 3, it could be my ISP, it could be Anet.
As Manasa Devi.7958 stated, the original GW had this feature and I remember jumping for joy at it’s inclusion into the client. Since GW2 is a modified GW1 client, I would think that adding this feature wouldn’t be as difficult as , say adding DX12.
Back to Dragons Dogma for PC(you really should play this if you haven’t already!)

GW2 is a good game but it does have some serious flaws.
Today this flaw made me decide to take a break.
After finally getting into a TT wurm map that is organized and good to go (of course after the long long wait), my escort is just about to finish and boom…dc…
I know people have mentioned this problem before but, as soon as I log back in the map is full and I am stuck spamming join to no avail.
Perhaps Anet can look at this issue because I am definitely not going to wait forever to get to the action and have the game 007 on me again.

Many investors projected Star Wars to surpass Avatar in ticket sales. This is likely not to happen although it came close. Was Star Wars a failure?
Yes. From a certain point of view.

I have to agree, although Anet won’t care. There are ZERO weapon skins in HoT that are appealing to me. Actually I cant really think of any that are not of the salvaged ilk.
HoT is a big disappointment in that regard. Too few armor skins as well.
Anet likes money and Colin needs another Ferrari so don’t expect in game rewards for cool skins without mind bending grind.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Ya NilSatis, it is pretty much the same issue. I tried the 64 bit client today and it was stable and worked ok. If it happens again, I will just use the 32 bit client from now on.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Hiyas!!
So I was using the 64 bit client and I have noticed that it periodically stutters. It’s like it looses a few frames, my gpu usage drops then it catches up.
When I use the 32 bit client(which I am using now) there are 0 issues. Settings for graphics etc are the same for both clients.
I am using current drivers.

In game rewards?? oh no no no that wont do. We have stockholders don’t you know!
I think we should only have one basic skin for everything unless it is unlocked with gems from the TP!!!
Stockholders would be happy and then Colin can have another Ferrari
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I have to agree. I was very very disappointed with the amount of new armor skins available

intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
You should feel lucky you got 3!!! new ones with HoT!! I mean it has only been one year per legendary!!
I would say that it will be about 3 years for 3 more or “Its done when it’s done”™
Seriously though, most of the old legendary weps don’t really interest me. I hope for more diversity though.
I dont want to see toons running around in the same Leg Armour and same Leg weps

Be prepared for more SW style trains and boring grind
I bought HoT but my faith in Anet is very very low.
Taking Chaos skins, tormented skins and putting them in the gemstore just ruined alot of things for me.
I want cool skins that should be rewarded with effort or skill, not mom’s visa and a weeks worth of SW grind.
HoT seems to be changing that but I am not holding my breath.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I can’t wait for there to be items and skins available INGAME!!! I know what a concept right?
I am pretty sick of inflated gemstore skins on the TP. Looking forward to what HoT has to offer as far as rewards earned through skill

While the mechanics of the encounters allowed for a variety of builds to be implemented, I still felt that they bosses themselves were not very epic.
In fact, the whole area seemed more like a pvp tutorial(raid tutorial?) than a raid itself.
The encounter was fun but I was hoping for something a bit more “cool” than some glowing multicoloured guys

I find when I am holding the right mouse button down and my character’s head turns to be very annoying. I know this has been discussed before but is there any recourse for this?

I have changed characters and it doesn’t affect them.
My keyboard is fine.
I have uninstalled Razer synapse to see if it is the software and it isn’t
I have scanned for malware and I dont have any

Hiya,
So I was doing AC P3 today and the audio crashed with the exception of the music. I have my audio at default settings. Then the game went down to 10fps in the dungeon. When I exited the client the game crashed and I had to relog in to windows(*10) to get back my gui.
This happend a few days ago as well doing normal pve running around.
This seems like it is a new issue as I haven’t had audio issues in a long time.
My party member for AC said this happened to her yesterday as well.

So glad my ley line warhorn was not affected by this. If it was I’d have to stop playing those warhorn chars till it got fixed!
I use a Sclerite warhorn but if the Ley Line is not affected I might have to buy it and hopefully have a transmutation that will keep the old sound. It is beyond annoying since my warrior uses it mostly for a 2nd weapon set.
I cant see myself using farthorn or warrior if it isn’t fixed.

I dont think the OP is out of line with this. There should be UI Scaling for higher resolutions. As another mentioned though, I would suspect that there will be one with HoT release(whenever that happens!).
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
The main issue is that GW2 was based off of the GW1 engine, which in itself was quite good for it’s time.
CPU manufacturers have gone from upping the frequency in GHZ to parallel processing. ie. 4 core, 8 core etc.
GW2 is heavily dependent on a single core(thread) which does; as others have mentioned, most of the work.
Most PC enthusiasts will overclock their CPU’s in order to get a higher clock frequency which in turn can help that GW2 main thread.
Myself and others have surmised that it would take a 4 core CPU running at 6ghz or higher to allow the main thread to function to where most people would want it to be. This is an assumption of course.
With parallel processing being the way of CPU manufacturers rather than raw clockspeed this limits what GW2 can achieve because of the engine structure.

I have an all black theme going on with my main. Cats shadow, Ghastly grinning shield, infinite light(I know not black) and Twilight.
I have 0 interest in crafting sunrise or for that matter Eternity since they change by the day/night cycle.
With the one posted by the OP, I would 100% craft that.

Hiyas! I have noticed recently that the game will sometimes randomly “stutter” like it is losing a frame or two. It happens when I am roaming alone or in zergs. I am not sure if it is my isp but i have very good latency and 100mbps connection. I am currently using the latest Nvidia drivers and this seems to be a new problem. Anyone else having this issue? I am not sure why it is doing this, the game has been running great until recently.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I encountered stuttering during the teq event as well. My pc is more then capable of running gw2 and I haven’t had this issue since beta. Not sure if it is driver related or server side but there is massive hitching.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
A 64 bit client with DX12 would be nice but I am 99.9999% certain that we would never ever get that.
They still havent fixed the Umbra issue since launch and tons of other graphical issues.
I can’t see GW2 ever getting any updates to the engine regarding DX12 as well as a 64 bit client, it just wont happen. I would love both of these things to occur but then again my faith in Anet has plummeted in the last 3 years

I will wait and see if there is an xpac only option.
Not only is the price high for veterans but we don’t even know the scope of the xpac.
I am mainly a PVE player and if there is only one or two “3d” pve maps then I will not even bother.
For $50 the xpac should have the size of the original as far as map size etc.

My 3770k is stable at 4.5 on an H100i and it is fine. I still think that GW2 could use an API update but like Behellagh said it is up to them if it is worth it or not.
I really really doubt that GW2 will get an API update , heck I am still using injectors for AA since I cant stand FXAA.
GW2 is a great game but the engine cant handle zerg world metas and some WvW battles. I have had world metas drop to 20fps or less which is annoying but after this long I am sadly used to it now lol.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
My only concern is gear. Ascended armor, weapons and trinkets are not easily gained and are very specific for builds. I have always thought that GW2 put too much emphasis on gear stats rather than the builds themselves.
I am ready to learn new skills, builds and traits but what I AM NOT ready to do is grind, yes grind for new Asc gear that I already have.
If I have to ditch my Asc gear I am sadly afraid that I probably will not play HoT.
I am excited they are changing the core systems and allow progression but not at the expense of having to respec toons to have entire new gear. Exotics are fine but I will not grind Asc armor and weps again for new specs.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I doubt they will put DX11 or 12 into the game.
The reason that you get drops in FPS when there is no water around is because the entire world has a giant ocean underneath it. If you have ever fallen below the map you will see the world ocean beneath Tyria. The game uses Umbra occlusion() and either the devs cant figure out how to stop reflections that are not seen from being rendered or the occlusion engine isnt working to spec. I have tested it myself as well and noticed it is well op.
In summary I doubt we will get any DX updates to the engine and I doubt we will ever see an optimized Umbra occlusion engine. I just turn my reflections to off.

Okay, so using the ‘click on invisible log in’ button works, and I retain my SweetFX.
Using the auto log in command also works, but SweetFX stops working.
Ideas?
If you skip the launcher with command line switches you can get the game to launch even with sweetfx d3d9.dll in the bin folder and retain sweetfx functionality
