So what do we have to expect from tomorrows blogpost?
Hype edition: Guild Halls, housing.
Realist edition: You are no longer able to fall through the floor of dungeons.
OMg I don’t care what anyone says this is the best answer to the thread. +1 good sir. Perhaps you can include getting stuck in the walls in AC? :P
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
The problem is, they can’t really make events that rewarding, otherwise you’d get either massive inflation, or a flooding of the market in terms of items. This game actually needs more gold sinks, not fewer.
Why can’t they? If you want maximum gold, run dungeons. There is no alternative for that. They wont decrease the gold income, they just force all to run dungeons.
It is pretty much that right now for people anyways. Do your daily dungeon runs and log out.

You guys obviously haven’t played with SweetFX enough to get it looking correct. I can’t play without it now. FXAA is blurry garbage.
This is a screen from the other day. I know there are others that have it set up better than I do as well.

Just toss in SweetFX and you are on your way. I haven’t used FXAA in over a year. The game looks very very nice with SweetFX tuned right and supersampling.
I do wish that they would put dx11 in as well as better multicore support but we all know that will never happen.

Am I missing something here? Is there a gold fee attached as well? I think most players have well over 100 stones in storage and many crystals as well. Is the gripe about having to use another skin to transmute to?
It boils down to lv79 and below characters having to spend the same amount of charges as a lv80. As a result, people who were wanting to use those stones will effectively loose two thirds of them. The cost to switch their gear will be tripled.
Oh I see. People wanted the wardrobe to be like HOM skins and have the ability to keep transmuting as their gear leveled up. I can see that being an issue but overall I think the QoL of the Wardrobe outweighs that issue with the exception of dual wielders.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
While I do realize that the critical damage stat is currently dis-proportionately high in the current set-up, that is the ONLY thing that made celestial even remotely viable. Celestial was never considered the best, or even in the top 5, but was considered to be rather versatile. Now, if a 6% boost is all that’s given in return for it’s immensely reduced damage output, 100% celestial gear can NEVER be viable in ANY situation… It’s damage output, which is bad to begin with, will soon be outright terrible.
Your 100% right. Complete celestial builds (ele for example) is now rendered completly useless.
Which is why stats should never have been associated with gear. Too late now tho
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I am not too sure about the OP proposal but I agree 100% that the game needs more control, support in encounters to make them interesting.
Too bad really since the DPS meta is broken and honestly boring
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
So, I read alot of people complaining about the transmutates charges. From my understanding the game will convert transmutation stones and crystals into charges with a ratio of 3/1 for Stones and 1/1 for crystals.
Am I missing something here? Is there a gold fee attached as well? I think most players have well over 100 stones in storage and many crystals as well. Is the gripe about having to use another skin to transmute to?
I can understand the PVP skin aspect of the wardrobe and the possible issues but I am sure Anet will address those.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I remember a game called GW1 that only had soulbound items when they were customized to the character and, that character gained 15% damage.
Do the devs not remember this game?
What made GW1 fun was when I got sick of my “look” I would sell my weapons and buy something else.
Now in GW2 you have to make a decision…do I want this weapon forever. Literally. Because you cannot resell it, you cannot even give it to another character….till now(April15th).
This was a fundamental mistake from the beginning of the game that was blatantly obvious.
I don’t blame dual wielders for being angry, I certainly would be. You were given a set of options from the beginning of the game and you made a decision within those options. Grind grind grind for that cool 2nd weapon that will be with your character forever. Now the set of options is changed.
The solution to the problem is unbelievably simple. Legendary weapons are now account bound. Ascended and down are in the wardrobe.
1. This provides the continuation of Legendary weapons being Legendary. No copies.
2. This provides a solution to dual wielders frustration to a year and a half grind that feels wasted.
3. This still allows people to move the Legendary weapon to other characters…it is call the BANK. I know, tough concept.
A downside is that items like Infinite light are still copyable but at least it is a partial solution.
I never made more than one Legendary(and I never will) but I know if I made 2 incinerators I would fuming mad with this patch.
addendum: I laugh at the people who think that changing the stats on a Legendary is worth the 2000+ gold. You could craft as many ascended weapon sets with that gold and still have tons left over. It is an invalid argument.

Well, the turrain and cities have evolved over time through nature, dragon catastophies, and its various races expansion/withdrawl but with these considerations noted, gw2 matches gw1 perfectly http://zoom.it/TWLx#full
That is just cool. It does match perfectly.
Perhaps sometime in 2068 we will see those parts of the map in GW2 that are still left in the fog.

Too bad I feel that the Wurmslayer armor is just hideous, but of course that is a personal opinion.
I agree that we need more difficult dungeons like Aetherized TA in the game.
High risk, high reward content was always a fun part of GW1
I do Teq every day and I have never gotten anything more than the standard 3 or 4 rares. RNG is a cruel mistress.

Cultural would most likely remain only wearable to a character on the account of the appropriate race.
Good question about the HOM items though.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I will tell you a story about how I crafted my Twilight.
I had pretty much all the gifts with the exception of the Gift of Magic and the precursor.
I had approximately 300g saved up and realized that I was not even close to completing the sword when I couldn’t stand the grind because I was bored, I gambled ALL of the 300g into the toilet with the intention of quitting.
I got lucky.
I was very very close to quitting the game permanently but decided to gamble it away.
The point of the story is that Legendary Weapons are a combination of grind and RNG. There is no skill in having one.
There is also little prestige by owning one since they are commonplace.
There is just the fact that there really isn’t much else to do after 1.5 years in GW2 for the people that want to craft one.
If someone gets a Legendary from PVP then remember that the player earned that weapon by 100% more skill than ANY player in the game.
I truly hope they make them unique for that individual.
I am also not a PVP player but I wish them the best.

This is kittening good change cos I have 4 character and they all use staff.
So my 1 Bifrost can become 4 Bifrost just like that. kitten yeah!!
You will have one legendary Bifrost and 3 Bifrost clones. The one thing that I do like is taking ascended weapons and making them legendary.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
In all honesty I like the idea of owning skins once you unlock them but wouldn’t it have been easier just to make all weapons and armor account bound instead of this?
It would have kept legendary weapons in check with the amount “transmuted”. It also would have let people move them to their alts if they felt they made a soulbinding mistake or just want to change things up.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
No.
Core issues are not being addressed with the next feature-patch (though some good stuff is being added) and numerous bad design choices have been made. These are the following major issues with the game as of now that have not been addressed:
1. Conditions are useless in PvE and overpowered in PvP.
2. Toughness/Vitality stats matter little in PvE due to overused 1-shot mechanics.
3. Defiant renders control specs worthless.
4. Rampant class imbalance based on game mode.
5. Serious lack of build diversity due to low count of skills (and even less useful ones) and restrictively expensive gear re-specs.
6. DPS build supremacy in PvE due to inviability of other builds. And these are the following design decisions:
1. Emphasis on temporary content is resulting in a MORE static world than if otherwise due to the fact the content is temporary and has little overall effect on the game.
2. Emphasis on large-scale (zerg-style) combat events and not enough actual group content has resulted in an extremely low overall skill level for this game.
3. Emphasis on high-population events results in people being unable to participate with their community due to the Overflow system.
4. Emphasis on high-population events coupled with guesting is causing major problems for smaller servers trying to enjoy this content.Until all those get addressed GW2 is in a pretty sorry state, and are largely why I barely ever play anymore.
^^ This 100%

Does this mean that my full zerker will take about 5 more minutes to complete a dungeon or event in PVE? Probably.
I am just glad that the amount of time and effort invested in that full ascended zerker is not completely useless, but then again who knows what will happen with a future patch.

I would love to play monk again. My main was Monk in GW1.
I remember a time when I didn’t have to “tag” mobs in order to be useful and get loot.
I would just have to help keep the TEAM alive…oh ya we dont have TEAMS for most of the open world content in GW2 really, just self sufficient nameless zergs autoattacking anything that is in red font for loot. It does require tons of skill and thoughtful gameplay lol. GW2 is Ursanway zerg style.
I agree that defiant is a bigtime issue that needs to be looked at.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Before the game came out, I used to celebrate the idea of no “holy trinity.” Now, I don’t see how it could be all that bad compared to everyone running full zerker and DPSing their way through all the content. At least it would be more fun than that.
It amounts to the same really, except you need one person to group and control the mobs whille the others simply DPS and the healers compensate for the DPS and tank’s mistakes and gets all the blame when you wipe.
Now you have everyone DPSing, everyone healing and everyone using control abilities. Oh wait, you run with groups that don’t use stability, reflects and chill? The problem isn’t with the game, its the community… they can’t even handle a marionette without begging for nerfs.
Having varied required roles not only makes the game more interesting but adds significant depth to the overall experience.
There is a reason everyone rolls DPS.
It has been explained in a myriad of other posts.
You cannot blame the community for rolling the most efficient build.
It is the responsibility of the developers to promote and even require diversity, not the player to embrace a lesser build.
I beg for the day when my mace/shield guardian becomes more viable, but I know that will never happen with the current mechanics of the game
Marionette was fun and didnt need a nerf, in fact I wish it was back in the game….like many things. It is gone forever.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I want the ability to play the game in a trinity style if I want to. I want to be able to have a character that can take hits all day long… another that destroys targets in the blink of an eye… another that buffs other players stats to absurd levels… another that keeps our energy and HP up… and even another that simply locks enemies down for imminent doom.
I want ALL the varying playstyles that a more rigid class structure facilitates.
And I want it without content that forces the tank+healer+DPS group structure.
GW2 has the content in spades… I’m waiting for a new way to play it.
This.
GW2 lacks variation in gameplay: either you play the OP build of your class or you feel useless. If you dare to make your own build, you’ll probably end up with the same skills as everyone, as most of each class’ skills are useless. GW1 had this idea of “each class is important for the others to survive”, while in GW2 everyone could play the game from A to Z without requiring any help. Too bad, it’s an MMO…
The game doesn’t need that “holy trinity”, but it sure needs some variation on gameplay…
Agreed. I roll my Zerker warrior for everything. Why would I roll something else?
The interdependence in a party is what made GW1 so good and the devs seem to have forgotten that.
GW2 is like Ursan from GW1, where it doesn’t matter what class you roll just as long as you doing pure dmg and attack as a group(zerg).
Unless Anet decides to rework support, healing and AI we will never get the game that GW2 should have been.
So, just keep playing your zerker, forget there are other roles and keep grinding folks

Torment weapons trivialized by being reduced to RNG/gemstore purchase.
The pit just gets deeper.
I couldn’t agree more.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
For those that never played GW1, Tormented Weapons were acquired through receiving gems from enemies in DoA (Domain of Anguish).
They were fairly expensive to buy and you needed 8(if I can remember correctly) to fill your Hall of Monuments.
Now, GW2 has capitalized on what was a semi-elite skin from GW1 by putting them in RNG BLC. Why…Why not create a fractal that you got tokens for them? Why not a dungeon(DOA????) to get them. Why not from the new Knight drops even as a rare chance?
Anet has done a good job of taking everything that I loved from GW1 and putting it in the Gemstore, instead of placing it is exciting, difficult content.
Am I the only one that feels like this?

If I remember correctly, it was maybe year 4 or so when they put this into GW1. The basis of that technology should form a groundwork to put it into GW2. Lets hope the Devs are at least having a discussion about it.
That is about the time it was introduced into GW1 and since GW2 is using an updated version of the old GW1 engine there is no reason or excuse I can think of for it to not have been emplemented into the GW2 codeing from the beginning.
I think that a big issue would be to allow the technology for a persistent shard, rather than an instance which is what GW1 used very frequently. Does anyone remember if GW1 had the ability to reconnect while in a persistent zone like Spamadan or LA and be in the same district etc?
