I have been thinking of tossing in another GTX 680 into SLI. With supersampling and everything cranked I still get in the 90% usage range on my card. How is your experience with SLI’d 680’s with GW2 Optimus?

Looks like tomorrow might be the big day.
We will see if the promises are kept and the annoying target loss if finally gone for good.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
theoretically speaking it might be possible to reach gw2 nirvana – ironically enough with a few mac’s – this is one feature that mac has a great advantage over pc on power – you can link up mutiple macs together to get more cpu power. – I know that Apple logic pro has that feature – for creating more real time audio processing power. – now if that code is available to the general public is another question. – I wonder if that is possible for window’s pcs – sort of like a render farm.
Having to do that to make the game run well in zergs makes me lol
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Mine spikes to 100% sometimes as well, but my pc shuts down when I reach it. Happens every 15 mins or so nowadays, when in Southsun or WvW. I have been playing without any problems since last August and now this pops up. I thought a 3,3 ghz sixcore would be plenty, at least to keep it stable..
The bad thing about GW2 is that it doesn’t use all the cores efficiently. You could have a 10 core 20 thread CPU and it wouldn’t matter.
GW2 is a raw clockpower pig.
In order for the game to run at a constant 60fps during zergs you would need a hypothetical CPU running at 6+ghz with 3 cores.
Do not expect any miraculous optimizations or patches to rectify this.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I am using the 320.18 drivers and I have noticed that GW2 uses more GPU resources than before. I used to be able to run supersampling and the usage was normally about 88% ish but I am getting 99% now.
I am not sure if it is the optimizations that Anet has been “fiddling” around with lately or the drivers themselves.
GW2 is not overly graphic intensive and I am wondering if Anet if offloading more things to the GPU.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Any news about which patch this will be in?
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
It depends on the cooler you have for the CPU. If your using the standard intel heatsink then I would make sure you watch the temperatures to make sure that your not “overheating” and the cores start throttling down.
I upgraded from an X6 to an i7 and found it better but still terrible when it comes to WvW. There is currently no known CPU that can handle the giant zergs and still have decent FPS
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Are you guys running the game as administrators?
Is there a more detailed crash log in the OS event view in administrative tools?
Event Viewer is an advanced tool that displays detailed information about significant events on your computer. It can be helpful when troubleshooting problems and errors with Windows and other programs.
Open Event Viewer by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Event Viewer.? If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

I agree with that assessment.
The only thing that I have noticed is that performance has gotten worse lol but ofc that is subjective.

intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Hopefully that works for you but the issue could very well be server lag or lag between your ISP and Anet servers.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Off topic but still relevant:
Anyone been looking at the recent “performance patches” to see if they are using more threads and/or what anet is doing?

intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
we wouldn’t have put in the huge (and free) magic and gold find buffs for Southsun Cove
And free….there is little that is free in GW2. ’
I was actually surprised by the instigator and southsun farm because it didn’t involve having to buy a consortium magic booster from the TP for 2000 gems(24 hours only!).
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
GW2 is basically now like an Ursan run from GW1. Mindless spamming with just damage and 0 thought put into the game.
I was glad when Ursan was nerfed since it brought back the “thinking” aspect of GW1 which I loved so much.
There are 0 tactics involved in GW2. How many people use combos on purpose? Not many I can tell you. They are just a result of mindless zerging.
I havnt played my main which WAS a guardian with toughness type build. Mace/shield and healing. What is the role for that type of character. I guess I better get those fine transmutation stones from the TP since I will have to change EVERYTHING to zerker in order to be somewhat effective.
With 0 challenges worthy of gameplay, the mindless zerging, the aweful risk vs reward system and all of the other problems that GW2 has the only reason that I am still playing is because there is nothing else out there.
I get the feeling that when a better game comes along, I will be switching to something that makes me think, feel rewarded for difficult content and not have to grind/pull out the visa in order to acquire items.
Anet NEEDS to wake up and wake up fast because after 9 months there is little left in the tank.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
The game uses more than 3gb of memory but uses dx9 and only uses 3 heavy threads?
Seems that people with modern systems can’t have their cake and eat it too.

Too bad you didn’t get the K version of that CPU so you could OC easier, depending on your heatsink of course.
With that system I would say you can run most things on high with the exception of supersampling.
Don’t expect any higher than 30fps in zergs tho. Hope that helps
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
How about stuff that isn’t so cutesy? I remember some really cool skins that were implemented in GW1!
It is pretty hard to look “bad kitten ” when your backpack is a pink quaggan.
I want more items that reflect the stark visual design that is the art of GW2.
The concept art holds that dark fantasy image that many love about the game. Nowhere in those images do I see quaggan backpacks and bows that shoot unicorns.

lorazcyk.8927:
Looks to me as if the toggle will only let you choose between automatically attacking the new target, or only selecting that target without attacking it. You can choose to have the right click targeting behave the same as left click, or choose to have it attack immediately after you select a target. That’s all.
That means that we will probably still accidentally target something, but at least your character will keep auto attacking the old target. Using a targeted skill other than auto attack will still switch targets.
Right mouse clicking should only be for camera movement only.
If what you say is the case then it will make combat even more confusing. I just don’t see it happening that way.

Got an update for you guys! Thanks to everyone for dissecting the current state of targeting!
There is certainly a bug with prolonged mouse-presses and not moving the cursor. I am fixing this. However, this is certainly an extreme case and fixing this will not solve all issues players are experiencing.
The current click timing threshold is 250ms. We are playing with a lower number internally to see if it causes problems like people perceiving clicks as not registering.
There is also window of error when clicking that could cause your mouse-release to select something different from what was hovered during the mouse-press. While this should also very rarely happen with the timing and distance thresholds, it is still a potential problem that will be fixed.
On top of all this is still player preference. Not everyone wants a single right-click to perform default actions. This is why we’re adding a toggle for it in the next patch.
There are still questions left to be answered for how targeting in Guild Wars 2 should work, and I’m sure these will be answered as we continue to iterate.
Dear god after 9 months of begging and pleading for a right click toggle…

I disagree completely. I loved monking. It was fun and not whack a mole at all.
There was a severe amount of concentration and skill involved with being a good monk. That make or break feeling was what made the class so fun. The only people who blame monks were usually pugs that leroyed 100 margonites on HM and expected to be ok.
The trinity provided defined roles, not just monking in a team situation.
GW2 has very little team work and there are 0 roles at all. It is dps zerg wars and in its’ current incarnation the game takes little to no skill or thought at all.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
3. The only way that I see for them to fix this issue is to remove right-mouse targeting altogether or give us a toggle: let players choose between a perfectly functioning system or an unfix-able one that has consequences while moving with the WASD keys and flicking the camera.

This thread jumped from 16k views to over 21k views in a day.
How does that not address the fact that thousands of people want this simple issue fixed?
While I am happy that there was a response from Anet, I am severely disappointed that it took one pvp comment and it was patched the next day while hundreds of posts regarding what many feel is a game breaking issue still gets the generic “we are looking at it” dev quote.
Enough is enough already.
Fix the issue ASAP please or at least let us know that your working on it right now!
The level of frustration is justified in this instance!
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
From today’s patch notes :
Structured PvP
Right-click targeting of enemy players has been re-enabled.
I hope that your still working on a toggle, fixing what most people consider a bug to begin with..if that makes sense.
Please guys help asap!
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
To clarify: This bug was an unintended change from enabling right-click to switch spectate targets. It only affects enemy players. Disabling right-click targeting across the game is a different change that I’m sure will be implemented given then player response.
Thanks for the clarification.
I think that most people do not want a disable but rather a toggle.
Anet needs to put this in ASAP.
This issue has been in the game since beta and it is beyond annoying.
It is game breaking in its current state.
Lets hope you guys come up with a toggle resolution in the VERY near future.
