There have been many instances of routing issues lately in NA and EU. My bet is that it is your ISP and not Anet.
I have used multiple ISP’s in testing connectivity to Anets’ servers and some are better than others which would lead me to believe that it is a routing issue regarding infrastructure.
The OP best bet is to power down the modem, wait 30 seconds and plug the power back in and see if that helps.
A note to those who have Solid State Drives, never defrag them.
I have seen spiders nests, dead mice and an assortment of other nasty things inside systems. Even workstations in an immaculate office setting.
Always make sure to ground yourself out(touch the case or psu) before cleaning anything in your system.
Glad that cleaning out a wool blanket out of the CPU heatsink helped the OP.
Quaggans against RNG boxes
Your sig suggests a predilection for cutesy.
There is way way way too much cutesy crap in GW2.
The main reason I hate, loathe and despise all JP in GW2 is the crappy camera.
What’s that? You want to look where you’re going before you jump? NO, sorry that rock overhead MUST be zoomed in 100%!
What’s that? You want to be a Norn male and do JP?…hahahahah try again
That is why I don’t do 1/5 of the content that is GW2…JP!!!!
Don’t worry OP there will always be more cutesy quaggan backpacks and flowers!
Seriously though I agree 100000%. Look at the concept art. There are some really dark and very cool images represented in the art that I have really yet to see in GW2.
GW2 is nowhere near as dark and adult themed than it’s predecessor was
I won’t buy it since I don’t do CoF1 runs but I also don’t really care that much.
So im presuming that all living story here in will be jump puzzle related, most jump puzzle players have already blitzed tho this its those of us that hate jump puzzles I suppose we can always hope the next one gives us something to do.
Oh and in the meantime make those waypoints free if you fall to your death, even some of the sky crystals dont even have a way back once you dropped down to them and you have no choice but to waypoint out. (i know its only 1.39 but its soon adds up if your crap like me)
Yep, that is why I am not going to bother doing them and wait another month.
While I think that most of the new area is a giant JP I did like the racing mini game. It was fun in a mario cart kinda way.
I loved GW1 for the dungeons and I really expected GW2 to live up that type of gameplay. The Molten dungeon was awesome and probably the most fun I have had in a dungeon in the entire game.
I will probably log in for the dailies do a few metas and wait till next month to see what they have up their sleeves.
I am not a fan of JP’s to be honest and this feels like one giant JP
The race was fun but I am not sure about the rest of it.
I agree that I want less tech and more fantasy. GW2 is becoming less adult and more kid oriented which isn’t my cup to tea.
+1 I will probably not bother with the Giant JP gold sink
1000 pts = small karma jug
2000 pts = 2 small karma jugs.

And who the hell is TC?
First TC I thought of was Theodore Calvin. Former Marine Corps helicopter pilot, used to run a tourist charter business called Island Hoppers back in the 80s. Haven’t seen him in a while.
Never seen ‘Topic Creator’ before. Why not TW? ‘Thread Weaver’. Yeah. I like the sound of that.
Carry on.
You just won the thread lol
2-3 hours of COF for 3 days will easily net you 30g. It takes way more dungeon runs to get you a full set of dungeon armor.
So the time it takes u to get the gems for this is actually better than a dungeon armor you grind if it was permanent. So stop whinining and complaining and get the armor by doing cof runs if you really want it.
Sooo grind the only dungeon that provides a decent reward for an ingame item or break out the visa?
I am not whining(spell check is awesome!) but rather frustrated at the outrageous prices for gem store items. Nickel and dime everyone till they so frustrated they break out the VISA!! Awesome business plan.
I think one point we’re all missing is how much we’re paying to play this game each month. Without the steady revenue other games are pulling in, Anet has less money to spend on development.
I would rather pay the $15 kittenING dollars a month than have temporary content and RNG.
I am sick of people using that as an excuse for this developer.
Using a F2P model was THEIR decision NOT mine.
GW1 did fine and I spent tons of money in their store.
GW2 is lacking the best things of GW1….namely all of them.
Please stop complaining, there is no RNG with the armor set.
If you really want it then either shell out gold or bring out the credit cards, you dont have to absolutlely have it, it is just a skin with no stats.
Wow just wow. In other words pay the 30gold, break out your Visa or shut up? I got a great idea, lets make all the skins available only from the gemstore except one! More money!!!!
The dungeon was fun until I got to the end boss and couldn’t get into the room
If I could Moa race gamble on whether or not Anet would have a buggy patch release I would own LA.
That being said the part of the dungeon that I could do(up until the end boss) was really fun and challenging and more engaging than any dungeon in the entire game…too bad it only lasts a few weeks..
Yep same problem and I am not even bothering to log in until this is fixed.
We were stuck outside the room as well. Scripting bug I guess
Ya that bug where she doesnt open the door stops progress and breaks the dungeon. I will not play GW2 until this is fixed.
Yep had to quit the dungeon. I am dissapoint.
I will not try it again until this fixed as to not waste my time or gold.
Personally I am fine with gem armor as long as its not hidden behind rng boxes. If he armor ends up costing say 800 gems you would only have to pay only around 24g, which is still way cheaper than sentinel armor and only slightly higher than crafted boxed armor.
I think that you would still need actual armor though since it is a skin only(I think)
So 500 gems which is about 15g currently. It will be 25g when the patch is released. I will skip this one, I don’t really like the armor all that much although it would be good for engineers.
I don’t have to but all the white knights will say that this is “free content” so I must show support with my wallet.
“Free Content” doesn’t necessarily mean good content.
I am not looking forward to the next instalment of Scooby Doo and the Mystery of the Sky Pirates.
How many gems is the armor?
What is free about it…I pay money for gems and the kitten box. The only thing that is permanent for me is my visa bill…
Factions was a good expansion but I am afraid of what this new Anet will do with something that a lot of people hold dear.
I went from a X6 1055t oc to 3.5ghz and I noticed a difference but, going from a FX to a i7 isn’t probably worth it for GW2 alone.
Anet dropped the ball by using an old engine and not thinking towards the future of multi core processors and their capability.
Also, giving dungeon bosses a rare chance of dropping a mini in their likeness would be a neat way to get people back into dungeons. Just a suggestion.
I like the mini idea a lot. Also they need to place rare skins in order of difficulty of the dungeon and yes it has to be rng. Think Obby Edge and Eternal Blade etc.
Oh good more RNG BL drops? I could care less.
GW1 wasn’t considered as grindy I think because there were multiple ways to make money. Be it FoW/UW/DoA/Deep etc. I loved that everyone was equal in stats and it was just a cosmetic prestige item that distinguished people. It gave me something to look forward too. That mini Oni or that Envoy weapon. But the main thing was doing those “elite” missions was fun! It didn’t feel like a grind because there was diversity and the game mechanics of each dungeon was very fun.
GW2 has CoF1, the gemstore(toss out that visa!) and World meta events. There is very little to no diversity in activities that a player can acquire wealth and even less items that are considered prestige. Precursors or limited offer lottery tickets.
GW2 has far less depth of activities to not only have fun with but also to gear up your character, and lets face it, all Guild Wars games are dressup in fancy skins with little to no stat benifits(which is fine!).
Even if you’re not into that sort of thing, there really isn’t all that much to do once you get a few characters to lvl 80 and explore the world. Why would I bother making an engineer? because they are fun?
GW1 each and every profession had a use and a role to play. GW2 is pretty much who has the best dps. I bet in 4 months you will only see Warriors, Mesmers and Guardians running around because they are the only professions that have roles(dps?).
I think that gear grind(of a sort) and RNG does have it’s place in GW2 as it did in GW1 but the implementation of these devices HAS to be done correctly in order for them to be effective.

When i was still new to this game when i saw a champion enemy i used to be excited. I was doing everything in my power to take them down, trying to rally people and wondering why so many are not interested, it’s a champion afterall, sure is hard to kill but in every game hard to kill mobs have great loots right? Well not in this one.
As time progressed i realized that getting same loot from hard to kill mobs as from the trash mobs was not the result of my bad luck, it just how game was designed, then i understood why people were so unwilling to fight them, those mobs are not worth fighting.
From this point i started avoiding any hard fights that came my way, why would i waste my time and risk repairs for nothing?
Unfortunatelly as time progresses this game gets more and more mobs that are not worth fighting. Spiders at mellandru, spiders at grenth, illusions on lyssa including champion gorilla which is tougher than Lyssa herself, big ugly undead at eye of zhaitan who one hit kills everyone and so many more.
Why would i want to fight mobs that will give me no loot and no xp, or loot not worth the effort?
This game has so much content that is not worth doing it’s just sad. Events for 1s 80copper as reward? No thank you. Most dungeons with few silver and greens and blues as rewards? Lol just no.
Then we have Anet nerfing all possible farm spots and telling us this game is not about grind, and just as i’m about to believe them i look at requirements for legendaries, or even the latest live event with click 300 this and 300 that and while you’re at it also 200 this and i realize this game is as much about grind as any korean mmo i ever played.
Currently player who wants to make gold has only 3 possibilities in front of him. Buy it with gems, farm world bosses, or run CoF till his eyes bleed. All except first one seem like a grind to me.
Yep this is why I am looking forward to other games…hell I even redownloaded GW1 to play!
There is 0 risk vs reward in GW2 that is engaging.
I have been very critical of the technical problems that this game has but risk vs reward has to be the number one issue of not wanting to play anymore. It really is too bad because this game has SOOO much potential to be amazing but falls short too often.
Where is my challenging content? Hit a dragon toe to get terrible rewards? What dungeon besides CoF1 is worth doing(I don’t even do it at all).
I really hope instead of the next installment of scooby doo living story we get some permanent content akin to FoW/UW/DoA/Urgoz/Deep/ that are not only challenging but offer some good rewards to make the game worthwhile.
Anyone else here think that most people are misunderstanding point No.3?
If I’m understanding the OP right, its not that he is oneshotting enemies, or that he is complaining enemies are oneshotting him.
The problem is many of the GW2 bosses are built around a 1 shot mechanic. They do it over and over again, often having more than 1 oneshot (or very high damage) skill. Once you know to just get out of the oneshot, the encounters become trivial. The bosses don’t do anything else, just stay out of the oneshot. Because of this Tanking(control) and healing(support) are secondary to DPS because who cares about taking if you can just avoid the only damage that matters? same with healing. I personally blame the 1 shot mechanics for the surge in DPS only groups and builds. And I cannot fault the players at all, because for most encounters it doesn’t matter if I have 20k HP or 10k If I mistime my dodge or find myself in the circle of death with no endurance I’m still just as dead. Better to just not be in the circle of death at all… once you do that, no reason to have defensive stats at all. And dungeons become damage spam fest.
I don’t know about you guys but I always cringe a little when a person tells me “I’m heal spec” Does it mean they are bad? Nope. but even if they are a perfect player, They will not help as much as another DPS would have, (assuming everyone in the group is competent). It hurts a lot of the fun of the gameplay.
This is entirely true and I hate it. Why would I have a healing/toughness spec mace/shield guardian if he isnt useful in a dungeon or fractal?
Everything is dps zerker and not having a trinity coupled with the mechanics of GW2 have made this.
GW2 is all about the skins and making your character look cool. As of now there are too few options. I would love challenging high risk high reward content. That is what made GW1 fun for alot of people.
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like
You sir are one of the few then that haven’t found the content getting dull.
I would be ok if I never had to do a World Event ever again unless they change the “hit toe to get gold”™ mentality of them.
The lack of risk vs reward and challenging content with meaningful mechanics hurts GW2 alot
I really really want this game to be better than it is and constructive criticism is what motivates any developer and makes the game better.
They would have to rewrite the engine code to use more cores.
I know that much is not true
please explain then and forward it to :
ArenaNetRecruitment@arena.net
They really need the help. It has been over 9 months and things are moving along pretty poorly.
I find it pathetic when people try to make a point with things similar to this. Clearly the OP is trying to explain that there is no enriching variety of endgame play. Grinding for achievement points or a higher rank/level in the exact same thing over and over does NOT count as a good variety of endgame. That makes no sense. Some people are completionists, most are not. If you decide to post your two cents, think about forming a proper rebuttal next time, this is juvenile.
Yeah! I agree completely. Repeatedly running Raid Dungeon A to gear up for repeatedly running Raid Dungeon B to gear up for repeatedly running Raid Dungeon C to gear up for repeatedly running Raid Dungeon D to prepare for the expansion and gear reset where you repeatedly run Raid Dungeon A to gear up for repeatedly running Raid Dungeon B to gear up for repeatedly running Raid Dungeon C to gear up for repeatedly running Raid Dungeon D to prepare for the expansion and gear reset…
Well, that’s all just an incredibly boring waste of time. It’s a good thing that we have an entire world to explore and that every month there’s a new story to experience. This game doesn’t get old and boring like those other MMOs.
At least it would give us something to do…
The only reason I do dungeons now is if there is a daily that requires it. Why would I do a dungeon if I don’t want any of the skins or have enough tokens not to bother?
Fun? I dont find really any of the dungeons fun in comparison to GW1 and other MMOs.
Rewards? The money earned from runs is pretty terrible with the exception of the only run in the game…you guessed it…COF1…which I refuse to do ad nauseum. In GW1 we could get good rewards from UW/FoW/DoA and many EotN dungeons, some diversity helps longevity.
Challenge? Why would I waste money on repairs if there wasn’t an adequate reward waiting for me in the end. The only reason to do Arah P4 is the title that would come with it…is that reward enough? Is there a reason to do it more than once? Is it even that challenging?
You discuss having an entire world to explore but if I have done it already why would I bother doing hearts and JP again? What is my incentive?
You also discuss having a new story every month….well I am sorry but that scooby doo kittenty mystery is just the most pathetic writing that I have ever seen in a game with the exception of http://games.kidswb.com/official-site/scooby-doo-and-the-spooky-swamp/
It is odd that we don’t have any forest areas.
Because it would take too much resources for a poorly optimized game.
They would have to rewrite the engine code to use more cores.
Don’t ever ever ever ever expect this to happen…..ever. :P
You’re solution, then, is to tear the game apart and turn it into every other MMO on the market?
Why don’t you play any other MMO on the market instead, and let this game be what it is?
Which is what exactly?
The risk vs reward in GW2 is terrible, especially compared to GW1. In GW1 if we failed UW/FoW then the whole team got booted. If you completed the missions then you got a chance at a rare item while the whole time getting ecto/shards.
Where are the dungeons in GW2 that offer that? There is nowhere in the game where your skill in defeating difficult content is rewarded appropriately .
+1 for weapon dyes since they made GW1 fun.
Maybe they will have that done in 2015 with a gemstore asuran weapon dye kit for the low low price of 1000gems?
RNG boxes for all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*for gems
100% correct
I expect a RNG mini box that will yield nothing spectacular. Log off. play something else and move on to another better MMo.
1. ) Dungeons are boring, lack of “exciting” and “meaningful” loot.
2.) Bosses are tiny and often overshadowed by larger scale characters.
3.) Waaaaay too many 1 shot mechanics. Takes away from interesting gameplay.
4.) Zero personal progression and a severe lack of “Reward”.
5.) Once you hit the gear wall, and have all exotics……. thats it…. lame.
6.) No large scale organized PVE, dare I say raids…… Inc Flame.
7.) Sorry excuse for world bosses with zero exciting loot.
8.) skins are only sooo exciting for soooo long….. /sadface.
1. I agree 100%. In GW2 bosses had unique skins and stats. We have some of that in GW2 but they are almost always merch food.
2. I disagree with this, I find them mostly so big I cant seen them in their entirety.
3. I dislike one shot mechanics but that is what GW2 is all about really
4. I agree 100% as well there is zero personal progression
5. There are legendary weapons but since I have 1000 hours and the most valuable drop I have had was worth 5g 4 months ago I have 0 faith in ever EVER getting a legendary.
6. I agree as well. I miss the 12 man deep/urgoz runs from GW1, they were fun and rewarding.
7. I agree 100%. ALL of the world meta events are stale at this point and I have yet to get a decent reward from any of them. Jormag takes too much time and effort for an average 13silver(not including wp costs) reward.
8. The fun thing about GW1 was if I got bored of my weapons sets I would sell them and get something new. GW2 doesnt have that since everything gets soulbound. I also believe that there are very few skins as a whole from this game without having to enter the RNG cash grab that Anet offers.
I find it disturbing that 90% of the people who are on this forum for performance issues find that their only recourse is to overclock their CPU’s.
Even people with high end systems NEED to oc their i7’s/FX’s in order to get the game to run somewhat acceptable.
Anet better wake up and smell the coffee because the 5770k isnt going to be stock 6ghz.
Until the engine is optimized there isn’t anything anyone can do and even worse is that the game will probably never be optimized and will never run well even on that next gen 5770k.
Having to overclock an i7 3770k just to get 20+fps in meta events is pretty bad. I have never seen a game the basically requires you to overclock your CPU.
So please understand that in my perspective, comparing millions of euros vs a mere videogame, that “we’re working on it” is more than enough to keep me waiting for something that will come eventually. If I couldn’t accept that, I would be a hypocrite. I’m not.
GW2 has earned Anet and NCSoft Multi Millions of Euros but, value aside if I am not happy with my BigMac is it not my right to complain or is McDonalds too big of a company to bother with and I should just let them be?
The systemic failure of the company to provide adequate performance patches in a timely basis is the nature of the discussion.
Now let’s be clear here. Anet has not said anything about performance since the vague “we’re working on it” statement about a month or so ago and to many the performance of a product they have paid for has lessened.
I understand that performance patches and fixes take time. I am in I.T. as well and things do take time. But what I DO NOT DO is keep my customers in the dark and brush them off. This forum is an ideal place to alleviate the concerns of the end user, but it seems that Anet decides to post information on Reddit and other video casts rather than their own forum.
GW2 players are not chattel, they are not numbers or a faceless corporation. They are people, and people who care about something deserve to have answers when an issue is bothering them. Not the deafening silence that see throughout it’s entirety on this “official forum”.
To reiterate, it is the lack of communication and the lack of any meaningful performance grades in almost a year is what has people upset.
PS. Your quote at the end reminds me of the Anet manifesto of it is done when it is done…kind of like the performance engineers at Anet. We will fix it when we get around to it now bugger off and keep silent.
