Eh. It was barely considered an overflow. We had someone scout for an empty overflow, found one with 2 people in it, and migrated all of the organized people off the main SoR server and into that overflow. Had a total of about 120 people on Raidcall. It wasn’t a bunch of people that got thrown into an overflow, got organized, and killed it; we basically just took our own instance.

After I turn my settings down to the lowest quality in order to do the event, I do a little prayer to Dwayna that the turreters will be good and that we succeed after waiting for hours in an overflow server on blackgate.
After doing it once, I feel that unless there is a big coordinated effort from either guilds or the BG server as a whole I probably won’t bother. Too bad too because it is the most fun I have had in the game since beta.

I have been in I.T for 15 years and I don’t have the “stones” to delid a $350 CPU but that is just me
Go for it if you think you can do it , I know that it is worth doing.

On a side note lets hope Intel gets it right with the TIM on the next series of CPUs

And my healing guardian with mace/shield goes back into the shed to collect more dust.

I don’t think too many people are going to delid just for gw2 lol.

If this only affects the shadows then I might give it a go and see how it is.

Your best bet is to get an i5/i7 K series processor and overclock it to the best of your ability using a very good aftermarket cooler.

A big word of advice is to turn down the graphic settings for the game during the event.
Lowest/Lowest for sure in order to get the fps needed to jump the waves. It helped bigtime

Alot of people didnt dodge the waves because either they couldnt see them(particles) or the lag was too bad. I toned down the graphic settings BIGTIME in order to get the wave achievement(lowest/lowest etc).
Not everyone in that ball was DPS. I was Mace/Shield guardian and was healing and tossing stablity up as much as I could. When I wasn’t doing that I was rezing like a madman.
It was nice to actually use my Toughness Mace/shield guardian for a change and not have to get on my zerker to do content.

I didn’t and still don’t care about the dragonite or other drops really. I knew I wouldn’t get an ascended or a mini really. It was trying to do it and see if I could. It took about 5 tries but it got done.
I agree that the fight does need tweaking tho, albeit minor. Needing vent and a massive massive amount of coordination goes against the principle of a pve meta really.
Maybe people will get used to the mechanics and it will be ok? Maybe the event will become a wasteland?
I really hope it doesn’t become a wasteland tho because it is the single challenge that gw 2 currently has to offer that is difficult.

We did it finally. It was awesome and totally worth doing all night lol.

Finally my heal toughness guardian was useful. Keeping SY, Hallowed ground And SYG seemed to help a lot with waves.
Very organized runs, which are amazing for a pve meta.
Lets hope we can still be first and get him on the next spawn. Gogo BG

PS Black Gate turreters were doing amazing keep up the good job guys!

I was on BG and we indeed had him at 1%. I think that EVERYONE should rush and DPS at the end of the last 25% phase.
I will admit when I am wrong and I believe that we can do it.
If we do it will be the best event Anet has ever created and kudos to the Anet team for creating a fantastic challenging event that is by far the most fun in the game.

Or even better! Wait in the instance till your queue lets you into the main server

It’s kitten first day and you say it’s next to impossible.

Scarlet was beaten on the first day with concentration. Pretty sure that people managed to get to Liandri on the first day. Right now is the time that we have the most people doing it. We should be able to succeed.

Thats because ;

1. Liadri was more about fighting the camera and learning the encounter
2. Scarlet was a mass zerg event, with zero actual mechanics involved.

Teq atm has mechanics that require teamwork and skill. Both of which are in short supply imo. With practice it will be done, in time the majority will win the event.

Because this is a PvE world meta event and not a instance or WvW scenario you will have bigtime difficulty organizing people to do the mechanics properly. On top of that there are servers that have done the mechanics properly and didn’t even get him down to 1/2 hp.
If this was an instance I could understand it being done but not in an open world meta..

Sometimes they need some content that’s a change of pace and requires hardcore organization.

And pray tell how does a 100 man pug organize against a open PvE meta event? I would love to know.
This event will ONLY get done with large coordinated guilds using TS etc to get it done, and even they they will mostly fail.
I forsee Tequatl the lootless becoming an event that noone will ever do if it stays like this.

To the OP.
Is it more fun? I like a challenge but this is beyond what any one person can do to attempt to complete it. So it is not fun. It “could” be fun without a timer or if he has less hp or an extended timer.
Is it more challenging? I don’t think that the mechanics are more challenging I think they bring a nice change of pace, that pace being rez, rez, rez, rez, rez, die…wait for rez.
It is beyond a challenge to even elite guilds and I will be surprised if anyone finished the meta in it’s current state.

I agree 100% with the timer having to be higher.

I am 100% in for high risk and high reward content but for the love of Dwayna make it instanced and 5 man.
Open world content will be very close to impossible even with multiple guilds running it to be effective.

Bugged out timers? check
Uber hard event to coordinate? check
Uber hard event that needs 100 people? check
Empty Sparkfly Teq zone in 2 weeks?

In a month people will have this on farm status…. its like no one pays attention to the pattern that happens with every update.

Pattern? Has there ever been an open world boss update, or any open world mob adjustment where a creature went from easy to kill to, most groups hardly get him below 90%?

I can only think of them making bosses easier to date… not harder… and certainly not SIGNIFICANTLY harder.

I believe he is speaking of the pattern where content comes out, people complain about it and week later everyone and his grandmother has destroyed it.

Seems like a bad analogy to me. SAB for instance wasn’t this way, it actually got retro-actively nerfed. The last guantlet boss was unbeatable for a large number of people. Neither one of those got easier, and as a result, once achievements were gotten, no one did either one again.

As far as the instances/fratals that came out that everyone complained about… Those weren’t actually hard, but people felt they were. Many of us walked into those with a group of 5 known people and no issue. But this event prevents in essence any sort of coordination with known elements because of the open world nature.

Well, get ready if you don’t like it, because this is an indication of things to come for other world bosses. They’re not going to just update one to be super difficult and leave the others alone. They’ll all be this hard eventually. As they should be.

Then what are you going to do?

People will do daily, CoF runs, AC runs and then log out and enjoy the day!

I have been waiting for high risk/high reward content in GW2 since beta and I can tell you that this is different than what I imagined.
It will be near to impossible to get 100 people to do the tasks required to defeat him.
It is a organizational mess even for guilds to complete.
I want hard content that is challenging but this is the wrong way to do it imo.
Requiring teamwork in a 5 man dungeon is one thing but requiring it with 100s of people zerging around not knowing what to do or where to go is another.
Even when the mechanics are more accustomed to the end user, the event will have to be coordinated to the point where it is almost impossible.

Dont worry Anet will make it so that you can kill him 10000 times and never get an exotic.

Ok sooo lets put 100’s of people that have to perform specific tasks together on a giant map so they can defeat the baddie.
Lets not give them good hints and make sure that they die a lot so they get the point of it being a boss.
Also make sure that if the 6 turrets are not removing a buff that they will fail…..miserably!

The issue imo stems from having to coordinate 100’s of people in the zone to a singular task with about 6 sub tasks. Good luck with that.
I have problems with pugs in easy dungeons with a 5 man group let alone 100’s in a zerg.
It will only be done by multiple coordinated guilds with various TS and vents going on.

My issue is having to coordinate 100’s of people on the server. It is different when your in a small group compared to a giant zerg.

There are applications that require a page file. Even with a RAM disk and using 32 gb of ram I would always have a page file active.

I will look forward to seeing it go from 600g down to 59 in a few weeks

Possible but I think the issues lies in AMD’s weak single core performance.
Impossible to know for sure but I have read about CPUID spoofs before running in VMWare. Interesting stuff.

I am having Level 3 routing problems as well. Severe packet loss We cannot do anything about it just sit, wait and hope that they fix their issues.

I always make a backup of the .dat file just in case. Be it a dvd, usb drive or external hdd.
